Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem: opening the Camera is snappy, taking a picture is fast, but if i need to take a quick video of something you can just forget about it, because Switching from Picture to Video is extremely slow, more than 5 second.
Is there any way to fix this?
If not, is there any way to set video as default, or double tap volume down to go directly into Video?

Hi did you manage to fix it? I have the same issue

Okay... seems like a minor issue but it's driving me nuts. I have no idea how long it's been an issue. I just found out today when I needed to take some photos in a quiet setting.
As long as my "Capture Tone" setting in my camera app is checked (allowing the shutter sound) the camera works fine. But when I uncheck it (to silence the shutter sound), the camera will not take a photo. Just in case, I tried in all resolution settings.
When I uncheck that setting and then go touch the "shutter" button to take a photo, it acts like it is trying to take the picture, then makes a strange click that I can actually *feel* in my phone, then it just goes back to the live viewfinder view as if it's ready to take a photo without having taken the photo I just attempted to take!
Then if I go check the "Capture Tone" setting, everything works fine! Any ideas how to resolve this or what may have caused this issue?

That does seem odd. If you're bootloader unlocked with CWM, maybe give the droid 3 camera a shot. The checkbox worked, and took a silent picture for me..
the camera settings in build.prop can be modified, I believe they're towards the bottom. There is a setting for the shutter tone there, I would mess with that. make a backup first.
I dont have this prob on Alien#4, I disabled shutter sound on day one and have taken at least a hundred pics since. Before Alien I had experienced the strange internal click vibration you spoke of, but not since.
hello all...
was just wondering if i can lock the focus while shooting in 4k mode ? Coz leaving it on auto in bad light causes blurred videos...
actually...ive noticed u cant lock focus on ALL video modes...!
Is that correct ? Or am i missing something?
I have been annoyed by this too! It's frustrating to have it constantly refocus itself.

Sony needs to rework the entire camera software as alot of stuff are missing and/or needs fixing (i have complete confidence the hardware is top notch...just the softwate quality doesnt quite match it).
Unfortunately for us, a good camera is hardware + software. For Z2 to become a great camera phone (from just a good one) we need:
- ISO preview (you can change it but you can't see the effect on the screen)
- all modes available on 15 and 20 MPx
- better software alltogether
right, so just to confirm and clarify
- there is no way to change how the focus works?
- it can't be set not to refocus every few seconds?
- is there any chance it will ever be fixed in an update, eg. lolipop? Could someone confirm if it isnt already fixed?
To be honest, the video recording is terrible, the image is sharp and blur on and off, making the video unwatcheable and makes the film-watchers question, whether I used my calculator to record a video. This is riduculous with this kind of phone ('best camera phone there is')
Hello.
is it possible to take a slow motion video like with the Samsung S7?
The video starts in normal speed, then changed in slow motion speed and goes back to normal speed...
So you can make a video and anytime you change for a short time into the slow motion mode.
Is this possible with tha Alpha or ss there a solution for it?
Thank you,
kind regards!
looks like you have to install some video editor
No, It is Immpossible! Different hardware stuffing
Hi there, just bought Redmi note 9 pro global and the I have noticed that the camera in Slow motion 960fps and 240fps are not working:
- 120 fps is working fine : video is correctly saved in gallery
- 240 fps : clicking on button to start it launch record video but after clicking to stop it will save nothing (tested with SD card and with internal storage)
-960 fps clicking on the button will launch the 360 rotation effect on the button but after that nothing happen all is blocked, I must cancel the camera app.
Anyone can help me ?
Same here, global and exact same issues!
I'm on the XIAOMI EU ROM and habe no problems, 240fps is working fine and also saves the video.
Only issue I have is that slowmo recording with 960fps stops after 5 seconds automatically...seems there is a time limit for 960fps, what is really a bit annoying...
FIXED
Problem solved after having spent a long time to grind all the options, it seems that the problem is due to setting an animated wallpaper, indeed when I replace the animated wallpaper by a non-animated background everything is back to normal, now everything works perfectly.

Nice to read that you found the solution.
I'm interested if you still have the problems with 960fps that I'm facing, that the recording on this mode stops automatically after 5 seconds?
Also, the videos with 120fps and 240fps starts the first few seconds in normal speed, before the slowmo begins?

Yes I have the same behaviour you described for 120fps, 240fps, and for 960fps too I think it is normal, because recording with 960fps should be limited to a certain limited time due to size file reasons.
wow bro, you're a genius. solved to me also. Thanks
I am really hoping you can touch to focus on video on the new 1 III model... If someone can confirm/deny I would be grateful.
In any way, uploading the stock camera .apk would be helpful for everyone curious to try it on other xperia devices.
There you go
You can touch to focus or manually focus during recording in the cinema pro app which is focussed on video capturing and editing.
However auto focus during recording didn't work too well in a quick first try. It just couldn't get a hold of the sharp point. But maybe I did something wrong or this will be fixed.
Manual focus however is a dream - wouldn't wan't anything else. You can even preset 2 focus levels and automatically switch between them.
I just downloaded this to my Xperia 5 ii it works I like how they made the basic mode and still have the other options

hi liggerz87, can you tell me if this new version of the app allows to launch the Camera with the dedicated physical button?
If you hit the camera button it pulls up the normal app but you can use the double power button tap to open it by default that way
Also someone made a macro that works only prob you can't use the standard camera app and it disables it
