Hi guys, in this video i show you the new 960fps slow motion feature on the Xiaomi Mi 8.
I'm using the Global Developer 8.11.29
Officially the Xiaomi Mi 8 supports up to 240fps but with the new updates we have the possibility to record at 960fps.
With this modality we can record about 5 seconds and the first seconds of the final clip will be played at normal speed and the final seconds will be played in slow motion.
The video quality is 1080p. So i was very excited...at the beginning.
But as i suspected... the video aren't in 960fps, but everything is slowed down by software.
So probably it's a 240fps fps slowmotion and then we have a digital editing that applies a kind of plugin, as the famous Twixtor and Optical Flow for computers.
So at the end the result is ugly too see and you need perfect conditions to achieve a good effect.

Not only Xiaomi is doing this "960 fps trick".

Yes there are a lot of devices that are "cheating"
I just don't get it , The Mi 8 has the "same" kernel as the Mi Mix 3 , and the kernels have been released for a while know..The Mi Mix 3 , according to Gsm arena , has not only 4k 60fps but also 1080p 60fps.Also they have the same camera sensors and SoC (Snapdragon 845)..I don't see why it should be better than our Mi 8...
Mi8 will have 4k 60fps soon, and I believe 1080 80 too.
It so they can sell the Mi Mix 3 thats why its been dealyed for the Mi 8
hope it comes..
Hi,
The last few days I've been searching a lot about Motion Photos in Gcam. Before, on my Mi A1, motion photos worked great, but with the Xiaomi Phones with Snapdragon 845 I can't seem to fix it. I've tried every possible setting and many different builds.
From what I've read the problem is that Gcam uses the YUV format for Motion Pictures and that Xiaomi doesn't provide the correct drivers for the Snapdragon 845 for it. This is also the problem with Mi 8 and Mix 2s. Does anyone know if this is true and if devs can work around this, or we just have to live with the fact that we never can use the feature Motion Photos?
Or is this something devs can fix in a custom kernel? CC: @Arnova8G2
Greetings, Remy
What are your thoughts regarding the main rear camera on this phone? I assumed that it was worse than the camera on Mi 11 and Mi 10T Pro since the sensor is smaller in size and lacks OIS. However this youtuber claim that camera performance on 11i actually is better than on Mi 11. In the comparison below with Mi 11 Pro the difference was also smaller than I expected.
I have Mi 11i now. My first impression is that the camera is disappointing. Will probably send it back. Mi 10 and Mi 11 takes more detailed stills. But have to do some more testing.

Hi guys, regarding the main Mi11i 108MP camera, I'm curently strugling to find out a camera replacement, does anyone has an idea what model to use ? Any OEM reference ?
I have the Mi11i and the camera is great, what are u talking about? This is a budget phone, do u expect iphone 12 pro or S21+U quality?
The camera is better than these devices ive tested: S9+, OP7 Pro, A32 5G, OP 8T, OP Nord 2, Iphone 8, SE, X
Do you use the 108 mode and fiddle with settings? Or do u just use nomal mode and tap and take the photo? Thats not how u take a good photo, thats only for iphone (dumbed down os).
I find the camera fine as long as you do a little editing. Low light and night shots are a little iffy but you can still take great shots as long as you edit the photos. Photos in day light are fine. My old phone was an XS Max and the camera scores better than that in testing. Again edit the photos.
Pictures are almost the same as my mi 10. All ok.

I'm using mi 11i for 2 months and the camera quality is not good, autofocus is struggling in low light.
ofcourse it has no OIS so it ramps up ISO thus useless in low light
I have both Mi 11i och Xiaomi 11T in front of me. 11T takes much better low light shots compared to 11i despite having the same main camera sensor and Dimensity 1200 instead of SD888. Probably more optimized software on 11T.
Camera is good for me it takes good selfie and landscape shots. I was also thinking camera might be garbage and this phone can't be used for photography but I was wrong. It is not excellent nor garbage.
The Camera is good but the stock camera app is really bad, taking pictures with pro mode (manually) or with Gcam is astonishingly good.
but the main camera app over-sharpens and over processes the image resulting in noise.

Yeah maybe that's the reason. I hope I find one. Thank you
About cameras, I'm disappointed by the 108 MP photos, as camera (digital) zoom is limited to x2, which is a shame in such a HiRes lens.
Try this!E
Can anyone explains why Redmi Note 10 pro and Redmi Note 11s have exacly the same sensors, but extreamly diferent video and photos capabilities? Fore example, RN 10 Pro can record videos in 4k, and has 960fps super slow motion, in other hand RN 11s dosent.
Is this only a software limitation?

The two models differ in the SOC used. You would have to check the specifications of all video recording components to unequivocally get an answer to your question.
I just wanna point, that it makes no sense that the Redmi Note 10s being capable of video recording at 4k or 960 fps super slow motion, and its successor the Redmi Note 11s not.
