I loaded CM 7.1 stable on my Fascinate a couple months ago and sometime there after I started getting Force Closes all over the place.
Rebooting my phone only seemed to temporarily alleviate the issue for an hour or so, but shortly after it would start occurring again. It wasnt until I opened Touchdown that I found the potential cause as it reported I was "Low on space". I found this pretty odd seeing as I had several GBs free on both internal and SD storage.
After searching around a bit I believe it's my cache thats filling up. I ran Clear Cache in CWM it cleared up the issue for several days but eventually it starts occurring again.
First question: is clearing the Cache via CWM on regular intervals going to hurt anything?
Second (and more important) question: Is there any way to fix this without going with a different ROM?
Thanks a bunch in advance!!
I got it too!
I'm having the same issue, or I believe I am. You get a notification saying your low on space, and you can't receive any txtmsg's? Once you clear up the space the msg's come through fine.
I was using the stable for a long time.. and didn't get the error, and then I flashed the latest nightly and that's when I got the error.
I don't think the nightly is what caused the error, I actually believe it's pure coincidence. I've managed to keep in under control and can fix it when it happens.
I clear my cache as well, but I found out that the /data/data also needs some cleaning to get rid of the error. When I free some space in the /data/data I don't even need to touch my /cache at all.
I will post any other findings... info.. etc.. that I find.

your datadata folder is full most likely. You can try uninstalling some apps, or try running ng cache cleaner from market, or read this thread and try this tweak JT posted!

A novice question Im sure, but whats the best/easiest way to see how much free space is available on these partitions?
use the disk usage app from market.
Hi,
I have a problem on my xperia mini pro: I was playing around with different versions of an app (CSipSimple) when suddenly the internal storage went completely full. I had about 180M free, and it went down to a couple of KB. I've uninstalled CSipSimple now, but it's still only 7M free.
How do I find out where the storage is gone? Installed Applications doesn't show any unusual app sizes, everything seems to be normal for the system, but I can't recover that space?
TIA,
Stefan
maybe the apps is creating a large number of cache files.. try app2sd. it will notify you about cache on your phone.
I have completely oposite "problem". Up until yesterday, I had around 70-80mb free space on my Mini, st15i. Suddenly, I have 250mb free space. I'm not complaining, I'm just wondering what happened.

dont worry if apps are working fine than there is no prob. the excess memory can be due to the cache that got cleared on rebooting ur phone.
I'm not worried at all, I just find it strange. I havent restarted phone for almost a month, so it's not because of that. I restarted it after I noticed that, I wanted to see if it's some bug or something, but it still shows me around 250mb.
Sorry for not replying earlier, but I eventually fixed the problem. I decided to root after all and through Root Explorer I found several "tombstone" files, these are basically crash dumps. Deleted them and everything is fine again.

hey, i've got a prob....i have a rooted st15i....i downloaded root uninstaller and uninstalled some of the pre-installed apps from my phone...but the memory didnt show any raise.,..it remained the same when there should have been atleast 15 MB raise...please help...
also kindly inform me of the apps that i can safely remove...
thanx...
Guys ,
I am currently using WanamLite XXELK4 V5.0 as my daily driver for my International Galaxy s3. Lately i have been experiencing two very annoying problems with the gallery and swiftkey apps. When i try to open my gallery from either the camera or gallery app (and at times even quickpic for that matter!) i get an error saying there is not enough space and i need to delete other items which is ridiculous since i have about 10 gig on stock memory free (i don't have an external sd installed).Secondly my swiftkey says it cant load the language pack and when i try to redownload it fails. I am mentioning this because these two errors almost always occur together.
Factory resetting my phone when updated to the xxelk4 rom seemed to have resolved the issues but only temporarily as after two or so weeks the errors are back. When in this state i also get database errors when trying to view the pics from Quickpic and when i take pics with the stock camera app (or third party camera apps) it shoots but does not save the images and it appears to be a data/database corruption issue but i don't understand what could be causing it i have run a disk defrag app on my phone once or twice and i wonder if this could have caused some problems with the integrity of my internal storage.
I have tried clearing app data but this does not solve the problem and fixing permissions in recovery proves to be only a temporary solution.I am hoping there is some help for me out there my internet serached thus far havent yielded any effective solutions.HELP!

Did you get any answer?
So the thing is that 2 days back I transferred Asphalt 8 obb file from Sony Xperia L to my Moto E into the folder Android/obb. Everything was working fine, game was running smoothly etc etc. Now today when I tried to open the game, it said that I don't have enough space left(1.92 gb) full. I was wondering why it needs more space!
Then I tried looking into apps space and every other place but couldn't find where the damn obb file went and yet space was full. I tried deleting obb folder but it kept saying operation failed. My data was taking up only 1 mb of all storage space.
Finally, in the end I had to factory reset and then the storage became normal once again.
So can anybody tell me what might be the cause of it? Only 2 apps were installed- Superbeam and Asphalt 8.
Also, anyway not to reproduce this problem again?
If you are rooted, next time you can use TricksterMod to rescan your media:
Trickster MOD-->Tools-->Media Scanner
If you don't have root and rebooting does not helps, there are many alternatives available on play store. Though I have not tried them.

Not sure but it seems relevant to the game data. 'Cause you were unable to delete it. IMHO, transferring game files from one device to another is not a sure shot process. I've experienced many issues with that. It is time and bandwidth consuming but you should prefer to re-downloading the game data.
hi friends i have xperia E on my phone facebook works great without any problem but every time after install new updates it took more and more places on phone now has 143MB
is any solution how reduce this space cos i think that on this more than 100 mb is also previous installation of app ?? or what ?
thanks for help me
i took this app on sd card via link to sd but still is took lots of space.
The average app size of Facebook is 200MB. There is no way to reduce that. You can delete the data and cache, but the second you open it, it fills back up to 150-200MB.
You can try an alternative app, though I can't guarantee if that's safe or actually reduces the space requirements.
