Not any time soon. I thought Microsoft nailed down the bootloader.

[Q] Can i use Cyanogenmod Installer to install custom roms other than cyanogenmod ?

As the title says, I am asking whether i can use cyanogenmod installer via play store to unlock bootloader. I have stock rom and I want to install 4.4 roms and i got sick of waiting for samsung to release an update. So i am asking if I used cyanogenmod installer to unlock the device and then unroot by myself. After then can i install other custom roms just by flashing them? Is this a safe course to follow or do you suggest it would be better to follow one of the guides that shows how to install custom roms on S3 from start(stock rom)?

Post your cust/build found in Settings - About
8.0.0.xxx (Cxxx)
Huawei stopped giving unlock codes for unlocking. Anyway there is no point of unlocking bootloader, because there is no custom roms
To unlock bootloader just use:
https://www.dc-unlocker.com
DC Unlock app or HCU.
You need 4 credits, in my case I was on android 8 update already and it worked flawlessly!
I did it, because of root. Adaway/Magisk/Titanium Backup.

Klem.. You are wrong. There are a few roms available for the phone which, of course, require an unlocked bootloader. So. IF you have an unlock code, there are roms for international versions: US devices are limited at the moment. IF you don't have a code, then you are unable to flash anything.

Nonsense! I've unlocked my bootloader and flashed one of the openkirin rims, Resurrection Remix! It all depends on your model and whether dc unlocker works.

4$ it's not a big cost to try at least. Probably refund is possible as well using dc-unlocker forum. I have seen some people there which got a successfully refund.

Just keep in mind, If you will have some problems with Magisk. After flashing the Magisk in TWRP you are getting a bootloop, here is a solution:

Dude, don't post your IMEI!

Custom kernel SM-N980F, interested?

Anyone wants to see a custom kernel for the SM-N980F here?
First testers are needed. I already have a version to test.
For continuous developement support would be appreciated for sure too.
No one able to test the first build? Lame!
I will test it, just help me get oem unlock on my device. I have the 980f and I have tried setting my date different and all that manipulate software update. None of it works. I don't see it at all and I was on 2.5 now I'm on 3 with Jan sec patch. Any help is appreciated.

Question Custom rom / kernel

Hey xda community, i have a question for developers, we can expect soon custom roms or kernels for Realme GT 5G ?
No kernel sources
It seems nope.

And it's actually quite pitty: it's quite an amazing phone for the price (after Poco F3)
I have emailed realme for open sourcing the kernel for realme gt 5G, from my understanding the kernel is not the limitation when working on Android Open Source Project (AOSP) / Custom ROMs

Yes, do let us know. Is realme usually open source with the kernel? Is rom development good with other realme devices?
Unfortunately no reply from realme for the kernel code. I dont have my hands on the device yet but dont think it will take a long time for a custom ROM

That's for sure they release source codes almost 8 months or longer after the device is out. I think I'll have to pass on this device. It's unfortunate because it would have been nice.

What's probably more important is that theres a safe way for us to unlock the bootloader, we can get custom twrp and rom on this without issues, I can develop this but don't plan to maintain this, so hoping there are some maintainers in this device forum. Custom kernel wont bring a large change compared to custom ROM.

Bootloader can be unlocked for china and india version, i think global is not currently supported but I am looking into this
We should create a realme gt 5g telegram group for better / quicker communication.
Looks like they might release the kernel source soon

As far as i have learnt, for custom ROMs, we would need an ability to unlock the bootloader along with kernel sources. And it is possible to unlock the bootloader for Chinese veriant only. Not sure about Global, but Indian veriant can't be unlocked. So as pf now, custom ROM scenario looks a bit bleak
