OnePlus 6 randomly shut down - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My wife's OnePlus 6 started shutting down randomly, it usually happens up until 3 minutes after turning it on.
- It shuts down without notifying before - it's like someone killed the switch.
- It doesn't happen during the 1 minute boot up.
- Battery is charged to 95% and it still happens.
- It does not happen when connected to the charger (tried 2)
- Cleared up space from storage, she had only 500mb free, cleared 8gb.
- at twrp (it is rooted) wiped the cache partition
- tried logging using log cat, I have a saved log from during the shut down, didn't see and fatal log or something with "fatal", "shut" and "temperature"
- it seems to get quite hot at the top left side of the back side.
My next step is to factory reset, any ideas before I do this? Would like to avoid it obviously
Thanks!

goo day sir!! have you fix this issue? because its really a big problem for me thanks

[Q] App froze -> Reboot -> No signal -> fixed after reboot. whats wrong?

Today's morning my phone freezed suddendly and didnt respond.
I didnt know how to close the app that caused it so I rebooted it and it came back right after a few seconds, but with no signal.
I tried pulling in & out simcard or flight mode with no success.
Only after I did another reboot it was fixed and I could get signal again.
What happened? Should I be worried about it?
Im running cognition v1.5 & SpeedMod T27
I have seen this happen before. It's like the entire system freezes and then resets itself. I don't think that the phone actually did a full reboot the first time since you said it came back on after a few seconds. Either way I wouldn't worry about it so much unless it becomes a frequent thing.

ICS nightmare: 100% cpu usage & keeps rebooting

I have upgraded my SGS2 to ICS (PDA I9100DXLP7) (rooted with CF-ROOT). All was fine the first weeks, then I started having occasional phone crazyness often when the battery was lower than 30%. Phone would reboot, gets very hot and keeps reboot until battery totally flat within minutes.
I noticed an additional problem which is auto-update was giving many errors such as : package invalid, not enough storage to install app (well got 300MB free for apps, 3GB on internal sd and 4GB on external...)... but manual install/upgrade always succeeds.
Then I started having issue of loss of mobile data connectivity... rebooting the phone would solve the problem..except that now almost everytime I reboot the phone, the cpu usage is at 100%, phone soft reboot (not full reboot) after a while (from 1 to 5 minutes). battery is being sucked at the rate of ~1% per minute!!! Usually it takes about 30 to 50 minutes of loop reboot before the phone can work... once it works and cpu is not 100% all is fine. Even plugged in the charger the phone barely maintains it's battery level, if plugged in usb, battery keeps going down!
cpu usage is caused by system server (100% cpu on both cores). I tried adb debug console, all I see is that the phone gets stuck for a while, then all processes are being killed and the phone soft-reboot.
I tried clear the dalvik cache and reformat the cache partition, didn't really seem to help. I tried disabling media scanner too, with no luck.
I now notice that most of the time the phone is stuck in that auto-reboot loop, the auto-update process is in progress... not sure if it means anything.
Anyone got any idea on what is wrong? is a full wipe/reinstall my only solution?
Thanks,
David.
Have you tried using Better Battery Stats to see what process is running to make your phone do that?
Hi,
It's mentionned in my post, the culprit is the process "system_server"
Wipe phone and reinstall firmware from a different download .

[Q] S II 'soft' reboot

Apologies in advance for the potentially vague description, but I also cannot find a solution elsewhere on the forum.
Earlier today, I was watching a YouTube video and then I locked my phone and left it to charge whilst I went downstairs (as I often do). When I returned roughly an hour later, I found the screen on, which I only ever do if I've left Draw Something open, or some similar app - but it was on the lock screen.
(none of that is necessarily important, I just wanted to clear up the "what did you do to make it start rebooting" question)
Anyway, after unlocking the phone, the screen went to black and the phone restarted.
However, it wasn't a "real" reboot, because the boot screen didn't come up, etc. It's just like just the UI is restarted. I can usually use the phone for about 30 seconds at a time. This seems extended when I have flight mode on, and is even longer still when I have the phone locked.
I've uninstalled some potentially-offending apps, removed the SD card, cleared some apps' data, but to no avail.
I'm using default 4.0.4 from Samsung. The only issues I'd had with it until now were that some apps crashed occasionally, but I attributed that mainly to the apps themselves.
The most annoying thing for me is that is seems like it's an issue that can be fixed quite simply, without having to uninstall every app or factory reset the phone.
Anyone have any other ideas as to what I could do? Thanks!

Unstable Nexus 9. Sluggish reboot 3 times in 15 minutes EMMC issue?

got home last night from work, started using my nexus 9. I placed it on the bed screen went off. a few minutes later tried to use it again,
noticed that it was very sluggish, apps did not want to load. everything running very slowly. Then screen goes off again and it restarts. takes a while to restart about 2 -3 minutes, then comes back very sluggish again, I tried to load apps, it restarts again.
At this point I am about clear cache and start trouble shooting , did not get to wipe cache. it starts back up again, then does not run sluggish I am able to use it. been fine since yesterday.
Wondering if Internal Memory card is going bad I read others having similar issues, Not sure if I should send mine back.
I do not want to be with out a tablet.

It could be a rogue app as well, but did you try a factory reset? If that continues after a reset then just get a replacement.
it has been fine since I have not tried the reset yet, but I will if the problem comes up again.

[Q] My phone keeps freezing and shuts down usually when using google services

Hi everyone. I was having my s3 I9300 (stock rom; never rooted before) for like 2 years & with no flaw. Two weeks ago, I noticed that after it gets really battery low, the screen starts flickering weird horizontal lines, but it never freezes and shuts off.
However, 2 days ago, I was downloading something using the stock browser (blue earth icon), soon after, i turned the wifi off only to find out that my downloading was still going (downloading some album from tusfile.com) then in a blink of an eye, the moment I immediately turned it back on, the screens starts showing "flickering movement (just horizontal lines)" then immediately freezed. I was waiting for like 50 minutes, then decided to remove the battery.
After putting it back, then turned it on, "flickering" then freezes, then shuts itself off (i repeated the cycle twice or thrice, but it keeps doing the same sh*t) . After 10 minutes without putting the battery, i put it back in, turned it on. But this time, as soon as it got turned on, i immediately locked the screen by pressing the power button once (i just turned the screen off just to make the screen black)
After 10 minutes, i decided to use it again & everything was fine. The moment i tried the app "screen filter" just to darken the screen up, then the whole sh*t started again. I will never use that app again.
After 10 minutes of removing the battery, switched to recovery mode (in that mode, That green android was seemed lying down, it says "no command", & with a big red exclamation mark, he seemed dead) then I wiped the "cache partition", then factory reseted it, turned it on & everything was okay.
Since my phone was factory reseted, I download some app (Google Keep) and that app wanted me to update "Google Play Service". I was updating it fine, after it reached 87%, the whole sh*t started again but this time, I TOTALLY CANT TURN THE SYSTEM ON AGAIN!, unless i clear the "cache partition", then turned it on again. I repeated the cycle again, then decided to stop rely on Google Play again.
Then whole same thing happened when i was using G mail. Then Google Play. Then Play Service.
Shall I root my phone? Flash it to "CM12.1?
Thank you very much.
