Hai, i have updated th phone to miui 12 about 2-3 weeks ago. Now, the maximum speed is only 2649Mhz. While previously, it was 2800 Mhz. I have confirmed with antutu, cpuz and cpu throttling. Benchmarking also got reduced after update

I'm trying to use Linpack to judge how my phone is performing...I am getting just under 5 MFLOPS (4.945), but the time it takes is 16.95 seconds. I've seen people on here have it under 2 seconds....what am I doing wrong or need to do to my phone to make it better?
Some time ago, the Linpack for Android app was changed so that it would run for a substantially larger period of time.
I suppose that was done because there was a lot of "scatter" in the results on a given phone due to competing processes and kernel activity - so running the test longer sort of averages those things out. I think those "2 second" reports you saw are for older versions of the app.
Having said that, the Linpack benchmark is effectively meaningless - it measures floating point performance, which is something that your phone only rarely engages in during routine operations.
If you enable JIT, kill off as many unrelated apps as possible, crank up your overlocking, set min CPU speed to = max CPU, and turn on the performance governor ... you'll get a good score ... but the last three tweaks will eat your battery up, and you will only see improvement in interactive behaviors of the phone which correspond EXACTLY to your max CPU frequency.
For day-to-day use, where you will be concerned with battery life AND the long-term life of the phone (OC'ing @ 810 has burned out a number of Erii already), about the best you can do is:
- enable JIT
- use the interactive or smartass governor
- set your max CPU to 710, 729, or 748
- occasionally trim back unused apps (manual kill)
The Linpack benchmark on any given phone is nothing more than a proxy for max CPU frequency - if you run several trials of it, changing the max CPU frequency each time, you will see that the benchmark number is exactly proportional to the max CPU frequency.

Hi!
While playing around with my hero more and more I've been experimenting with different roms, kernels and cpu clock speeds. While doing that I've been trying to keep below 710MHz, but after a while i thought "what the hell..." and kept it at 710MHz for a long time. At 710MHz my hero seems to work fine, a little faster then it used to be, and a little more battery consuming. My noob question is since most of the post in here says " be careful going all the way up to 710MHz" almost no one suggest trying anything above, am I doing something wrong? Is the increased performance and the decreased battery life all in my head? I'm using setcpu 2.24, been tested on most roms here, both flykernel 12 and 13 and LV 5.0 and LX 6.2 ++++, and of course i always give it SU.
also, if i'm doing this right, my phone does not get particularly hot at 710MHz, so could i go even higher?
There are differences in devices. Mine for example freezes totally at 710.
I have been using my overclocked hero for a year now, running at 730mhz with no problems, my maximum is 748mhz but approximately after 20 minutes of runing at so high freq the hero was doing really some weird things..730mhz is my ok freq where I can run it without freezing up or any errors, the back cover gets little hot only when doing hards tasks..oh and, dont enable auto apply overclock on boot when testing the highest overclock, did that you dont want to be there when hero freezes up I just pulled out the battery...
I can overcloking my Hero with no problem upto 748.8mHz. If i use 760mHz my Hero are freeze...
Overclocked to 729, it works fine but eats battery like anything. Speeds above 614 are too much for our Heros poor battery.
I'm overclocking to 691, cause it freezes at 710.
If the cpu is really running at 691 for a while it goes upto 40°C. Just use a temperature profile in setcpu.
691 Mhz - 176 Mhz too, moderately stable.
Mine is stable up to 729 MHz
Mine freezes at 710MHz. For everyday use i have 614/352 Screen On settings
172-691Mhz Smartass is good idea. My hero is freeze at 729Mhz.
I am not that aggressive, 352 - 633 MHz. So far very stable.
690 is optimal for me, it does not freeze at 710 but it becames slower if I do a benchmark.
264-633 smartassv2 works perfectly for me. I found at 710 it was a little faster/smoother, but my battery lasted less than a day - using gps at 710 would also cause my phone to reboot.
Mine works till 691, at 710 freezes after few minutes.
Hello,
i just bought RN3 a week ago, so my question is, how can I undervolt thes SD 650 Soc? I have recently installed
TWRP with RR 5.8 and Radon 3.3 Kernel.
I am using Impulse Governor and max Freq is 1,2 Ghz. Touch Boost Diasable. I have under 1% Battery loss per night.
Now i asked me if it is possible to lower the Voltage from the SoC for Maximum Battery Savings. Is this good or should i prefer something else instead?
Antutu Scored a 293K and thought no-way... noticed CPU running at the factory (Qualcomm) clocked 2.8GHz not the previously Pie Clock of 2.5GHz.
So that's why it feels faster...
Is that what you're seeing? ...or am I losing my mind?
Yep, CPU-Z shows 2.8 Ghz clock!

Nice. Any change in battery life?
I wasn't getting stellar battery life before but I picked up at least four more hours of standby and a 24-hour period. to be conservative, I believe I picked up 8 to 12% better battery life over pie.
Mine is a little worst. It's around 15% at the end of the day while ita was around 22% with Pie.

I thought this was changed with the March security update for Pie as well
Android P March is indeed 2.8GHz as well.

It doesn't always stays at 2.8ghz. It may vary according to workload, temps, etc. It is normal. Kernel downclocks big cores to save power. Every time you perform a benchmark it's never going to give the same value. Sometimes it may be higher or lower. Reboot your phone every time you perform benchmarks. And try to replicate the same external conditions as they can affect the end result. So there are various factors.
Ok, but antutu shows the maximum speed of my phone as 2649mhz. I am attaching the screenshot. It reaches 2649 mhz certain times. But didnt cross that barrier after the update. Previously, cpu speed goes to 2.8 ghz and even stay there for a while during gaming and other intense tasks
Use over clock kernel
I noticed after updating to MIUI 12 that Geekbench score is lower especially in multicore (1300 point) while in Crdroid I got over 2000 point
i got an average of 1200 on multi core after miui 12 update. before update, the score varies between 1500 and 1900. I think, Xiaomi had underclocked the processor in miui 12. i don't think it's for increasing battery duration as after the update, the duration reduced significantly.
I have one more doubt regarding floating windows. i can only use one app at a time as floating window. I think it would be better if you could use more (we have 4 corners!)
Well, every update is not good for phone's performance.
Even in MIUI 11 i got better performance.
Currently I am running MIUI 9.6.25 android 8 and here is a geekbench result that I conducted a few minutes before -
https://photos.app.goo.gl/9k2ak36EH8uQsNJ29
I did this test on stock ROM and stock kernel.
And CPU and GPU were also on stock frequencies.
So it is sure that there is a performance degradation in the updates.
