Cannot get back to stock ROM after flashing a custom ROM - Xiaomi Redmi 5 Questions & Answers

I wanted to use a stable custom ROM and RevengeOS claimed to be one. However, a lot of bank and payment apps doesn't work with this ROM and these apps easily discerned that I was using a custom ROM. I installed Magisk and MagiskHide as well but to no avail. Magisk doesn't properly hide root in Android 11 anymore. I tried going back to the stock MIUI ROM but the phone restarts on its own every time it reaches the "Just a sec" screen that is there in all MIUI ROMs when they are being set up for the first time.
I tried flashing different versions of MIUI stock ROMs for this phone including the Chinese language versions as well. I tried both fastboot as well as recovery versions also. For flashing fastboot versions of the MIUI stock ROMs I used the latest MiFlash tool in both fastboot and EDL mode. For flashing recovery versions of the MIUI stock ROMs I used TWRP, MiPhone Assistant as well as Mi PC Suite (Chinese version). None of that helped.
Custom ROMs flashed using TWRP works fine. How do I get back to the MIUI stock ROM on this phone?

What is myflash? I don't flash through myflash. I use either TWRP or MiFlash.

Before flashing through mi flash, flash persist, then flash the firmware you need through mi flash.
Persist- https://cloud.mail.ru/public/47A8/b7pLpMqJW
Use this recovery menu recovery_twrp_3.3.1-1_rosy.img.

Thank you, sir. But my Xiaomi Redmi 5 uses the global MIUI ROM and not the Russian one. Will the persist image for the Russian ROM work with the global one?

Flash fastboot miui EU ROM and all will be fine. Make sure to take backup of internal storage first.
Also wrong section.

Use...edl method...(it will lock bootloader. you can unlock 100% with mi unlocker )
You can flashing latest miui global dev/beta fastboot rom (MM) download latest version from here via fastboot mode with miflash tool then you can unlocking again your bootloader officially with miunlock tool
after that..you can install alka twrp then do a full backup (including your efs partition) your current dev rom then try installing custom rom you want with gapps, then restore efs partition from your backup for volte then reboot system. done.
Hope it works..n good luck
Dev roms will not lock your boot-loader after flashing. At-least it didn't for me.

recovery twrp

hi guys got mi 8 pro but i didn't find any official source stating that there is a working TWRP for Mi 8 Pro, i can find threads only on standard Mi 8.
I'd like to try global beta roms on xiaomi.eu but need to unlock the bootloader tomorrow and install twrp....
what's the latest working updated twrp for mi 8 pro?
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads...ible-global-rom-compatible.48432/#post-465148
tnx mate, he made two versions, stated to be one for custom roms and the other one with global roms support.
does the twrp version for global roms also work to instal developers custom xiaomi.eu roms? or for those one i'm forced to use the other version?
Twrep relatore After backup doesn t work, must reinstall rom ti get It run (without wiping) and screen block and fingerprint doesnt work After restore.
Did this happen with pther twrp version? Is this solveble with this twrp?

flash Xiaomi eu Rom over mi globe

Hi ! After mistake on Xiaomi eu 9.3.28 I do reset all my mi 8 wipe all and format data ! The mi system launcher crash with black screen.
For resolve it I do flash mi globe 9.3.28 and do flash magisk again because not install. I don't know if they had mistake with march security and magisk.
But the translation on mi globe are not good than eu Rom and want return on it.
I can make a dirty flash of 9.3.28 Xiaomi eu over mi globe 9.3.28 ? Or do clean flash it again.
Thanks

In fact MiGlobe is EU rom based, if you go to Update app on MiGlobe then it will download EU rom and if you choose update it then it will overwrite with EU rom so is safe to do it.

[NEWS] Required firmware for custom roms

Hello everyone,
We all know that Redmi 5A(riva) officially shifted with Android Nougat and it got good development with various custom roms. Later riva got Android Oreo update and users who were flashing custom rom at the top of oreo firmware was facing bootloop or several issues if it boots.
To prevent such issues, i enforced Nougat Firmware V10.1.1.0.NCKMIFI and it will be necessary to flash that firmware before flashing the rom (once only) else it will show error. Currently, Lineage OS 16.0 comes with enforced firmware and upcoming rom will have that too!
Note : Users who are on MIUI Oreo and if they want to rollback to nougat firmware for flashing custom rom, they are required to flash nougat fastboot rom or follow this post .

Just flashing nougat fw from recovery won't work, flash is from miflash tool or follow the post and if you want to upgrade it to oreo fw then you can directly flash from recovery or flash from miflash tool.
