i want to control fps for certain game | decrease fps - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

by certain game - i mean, call of duty: mobile
it have 60 fps lock... thats why i get too much lag & heating issue. so, now i want to control the fps. but i have no idea how to control it
also, i have root + custom rom + kernal + recovery + init.d installed plus GLTOOLS apk too
if you have any idea how can i decrease my mobile game fps... plz share

Rule of thumb: the lower the FPS the more lags.
Currently, the game is lagging for more users around the world due to COVID-19 because many people play it at same time. Also it's reported many times that servers used are crashing.

Fpse works on Wildfire (PS1 emulator)

I just downloaded FPse emulator for android and it is working with Wildfire as well.
Tried with Tekken 3, it works, slow, but works. May be I need to overclock a little more (currently 710MHz) to make it work reasonably.
Anyone else tried and which game working smoothly ?
EDIT: O.K. With CM7 RC1 installed without google apps, JIT enabled, overclocked @768MHz and only FPse PS1 emulator app with 15 fps skip setting (for android) installed (trying to simulate gaming ROM for HTC Wildfire), the following games are tested and found satisfactory run:
1. Tekken - found running O.K.
2. Tekken 3 - found a little slow (but playable)
3. Gran Turismo - found playable
4. Digimon world - To be tested (as reported by ms_green)
5. Moto Racer - Full Speed with sound (After enabling boost mode)
6. Final Fantasy VII - Full Speed with sound
7. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater - Full Speed with sound
8. Quake II - Full Speed with sound
9. Tenchu - Stealth Assassins - Playable with sound
10. Mortal Kombat 4 - Full Speed with sound
11. Moto Racer 2 - Full Speed with sound (After enabling boost mode)
12. Moto Racer World Tour - Playable
13. Mortal Kombat 4 - very smooth (40-50 fps) as reported by @Was3k
14. Pro Evolution Soccer - playable (20-25 fps) as reported by @Was3k
15. Mortal Kombat Trilogy - very smooth as reported by @karl23koch
16. Motorhead - playable (30 fps with JIT enabled, @730MHz, sound OFF & boost mode)
17. Metal Slug X - very much playable @40 fps as reported by @ziemjak
Additionally, switch to Airplane mode and enable Boost Mode from system.
I'll add the games in above list as I test them.
Note: Only one mode can be enabled at a time, either HLE or Bios mode (if HLE is not selected, it is bios mode) and in bios mode only, Boost Mode can be enabled.
Wildfire can't even emulate SNES at a reasonable speed, it's just not powerful enough.

Well to be fare snes is fine but I doubt that ps 1 will work good
Try digimon world. It works fullspeed on my legend. (without frameskip) ...some text is missing tough...
Final fantasy 8 is not fullspeed but payable.
The same goes for ridge racer.
(try using frameskip)

I have done few steps which makes FPse play faster:
- fresh Installation of CM7 RC1 without Gapps
- Only installed two additional apps: FPse (obviously) and SetCPU for overclocking (@768 MHz)
- Enabled JIT
- Stopped all background processes and put in Airplane mode
and in Fpse settings, set frameskip to 15 fps.
With above changes, I think, FPse is working fine for Tekken 3 (not very fast, but good).
Can anyone suggest what more can be done to speed up the games ?
I think we can have a CUSTOM ROM for wildfire only for gaming without any features like phone, message, google services, etc, etc, then only, Wildfire will be able to play PS1 games smoothly.
Anyway, I will test additional games on FPse and put the result here.
I think this is the best place to requiest a good gaming ROM for wildfire:
Anyone can produce CUSTOM ROM for Wildfire for GAMING only ?

If you're wanting to go to all that effort then why don't you buy a cheaper android mp3 player that has a GPU something like one of the archos ones, you can get them now for around £100 (roughly $150)
Such a Rom already exists. CM7 without gapps in airplane mode.
There's hardly any point of making a gaming Rom separately because it would hardly do much to speed up games. The wildfire suffers mainly because it lacks hardware, which can't be fixed by a rom.
Edit : I don't think most wildfire users bought it for gaming anyway. There are better phones for that.

Get a PSP and hack it, full speed PSX via POPS

I agree with you on that even when I purchased HTC Wildfire, I never thought it will be ever playing PS1 games. I tried PSX4DROID earlier, but it did not work for me.
As Fpse developer mentioned, he has made this even for ArmV6, which is wildfire CPU.
The point is, since I already have Wildfire now (I know I should have purchased high-end phone with double the cost of wildfire), and PS1 emulator is available for it, why not to get few games which can play decently on it. I think, the low graphic requirement games will play decently on it.
I tried Tekken, and it is playing decently, and as I mentioned earlier, Tekken 3 is playing a little bit slow (with frameskip 20), but still playable.
Edit: I think I may buy it on next payday, I would like to try out some turn based classics like Kartia.
Tekken isn't exactly low end.. its 3D... bad 3d I know lol but the geometry is all done via software on our crappy CPU. Try a 2D game. And RTFM, apparently you can tweak the configuration for better performance. Alas it is only a new emulator, maybe the dev's can future optimize the 3d software emu in time.
I'm curious though... how the heck can you put up with real-time gaming with all the buttons PSX has?!? I have a hard enough time playing Super Mario World on SNES with this touchscreen... its impossible! Though I guess a fighter game wouldn't be as twitchy hey lol

Hey, the newest version has an option to disable sound to get better fps. That will help wildfire users as well I guess.
Oh and about the touchscreen controls: you can map controls to hardware buttons like search and back.

Thanks ms_green for the info.
I confirm, with the latest FPse with sound disabled, the games are running a little bit more faster.
I tried this with Tekken 3 and also with Moto Racer, both are playable now.
There is another thing I noticed:
In some games, turning on boost mode makes a huge difference...(tony hawk 2 from 30 to around 45 fps) however it might break other games...(controls in ridge racer stop working)
To enable it, load the game and then go to settings, system.

@ms_green,
I am unable to enable boost mode, it says "IN BIOS MODE ONLY".
Can you please tell me how to enter in BIOS MODE ?
Get a PSX BIOS file and set it in the emu settings. Don't ask for a BIOS here, because that's piracy.
Thanks for the tip about boost mode. Yeah, I'm quite surprised by the performance! Legend of Kartia runs great, next I will try Alundra... so many good RPG and RTS games on PSX...

Just to avoid confusion: a BIOS file should look like this: SCPHxxxx.bin
Instead of xxxx there are 4 numbers. So you need such a file and then choose its location in system settings.

I figured it out. In System Preferences, I had enabled HLE mode and was trying to enable Boost mode as well. If HLE mode is enabled, Boost mode cannot be enabled.
@ms_green:
Where can I enable FPS to be visible on screen ?
Yes indeed, HLE = High Level Emulation, which is what you use to ignore the BIOS file if you don't have one.
On screen FPS? Its right there in Video settings... this laziness is beyond RTFM.... lmao...

FPS option is there in v0.10.10 and I was still in v0.10.9. So, now figured it out.
Thanks
I am unable to turn on boost mode. I turn off HLE mode, choose bios file, enable boost mode and when I go beck to the game I have black screen and after a while FPSE crash down.

FIX LAGS ON ANDROID for Top Eleven Manager

I haved same problems on my galaxy s2, s3, and now same problem with laging on xperia z.
Then i go to developer options and tick force gpu rendering. App is now flying and there is no any lag.
Please can developers fix this bug and make the game smooth ?
Regarding the lags
I guess its not the problem with the app.
At normal usage, there is very less work for graphics and so it never comes into play but when you are playing a graphic intensive game, it needs a lot of graphics and the phone cannot render the gpu.
So when you enable force gpu rendering, it allocates more graphics support and also reduces the lags.
You can try clearing RAM and Used applications before playing games and also switch off internet.
Switching off internet reduces the advertisements on apps by which you can reduce some lagging.
Hope it helps and it works.

How to fix gaming issues and to get better framerates

turn on developer options and enable force gpu rendering and then reboot phone
I think that a game always force gpu rendering already. I thought this setting was for the operating system.
i dont know, it worked for me, i had lags at frst then turned it on and restarted my phone, every game is smooth, nba 2k16, nova 3, mc5, asphalt 8 iceland etc
the perfomance of my 6p in gaming is not the same as i see in youtube reviews where there is lag, i dont know with u guys though

Pubg on redmi note 4X

The most popular android and ios game currently is pubg mobile. Although the redmi note 4 handles the game properly with like 45~fps, there are sometimes 'one-second freeze'. Like the game freezes for like 0.5 seconds and then it continues normally. So is there any kind of fix or tweaks for this. BTW when i use the gfx tool to get extreme fps(60) the game seems to run well in training mode or when there are not much buildings. So if i were to say: I am in military base the game lags a lot. But if i am in farm or something it doesnt. So any gpu booster? Does force gpu rendering helps out? Kindly reply fast and TIA.
+1
What?
Gfx tool
I play on balance mode +ultra fps settings. Game is playable bt i do notice smtime half sec lag.. we should move to miui nd check if same thing happens or not
Use over clocked kernels

Is there a fps cap on games?

So, i rrecently received my Tab S7 Plus. Mainly for watching anime and playing games. Watching anime is perfect, but when i play games the fps doesn't get higher than
40-48 fps.
This happens while playing Genshin Impact, Cod Mobile and Pubg Mobile. Haven't played any other games.
This is annoying as feck.
So my question is, does anyone else have this problem too? Of so have you fixed it?
You may have enabled 48hz mode in game booster. Game booster plus also have fps limit settings. And Genshin Impact just runs at 40-45 fps most of the time because of bad optimization.
