Control Screen Timeout while playing videos! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
So I've been facing a problem with my S10+ the thing that I can't usually sleep without my phone and most of the time I wake up to find that my phone has been awake and auto playing a video after another, I know you can stop autoplay but not on all apps and I was looking for an app or a way to control the screen timeout while watching videos! I searched google but didn't find anything useful till now...
thanks in advance!

coreplayer plays audio in spurts only when locked

Play pauses intermittently playing in short bursts as soon as screen is locked. most annoying.
Am I the only one to experiece this?
Anyone got any ideas?
I too had this problem. Playback would keep playing in spurts with major brief pauses as I walked along. The solution for me was to go into the start menu, then settings and tap on lock. Under the display tab i changed the unlock display from Windows Default (the slidey bar type) to Windows Classic.
Now i don't have any pauses from coreplayer when the phone is locked.
I also disabled the auto screen orientation change as it seemed to be that the pauses would happen when the phone tried to change orientation but the problem didn't go away until I changed the lock to classic. Before the phone was unusable as a mobile music player (unless I left the screen unlocked) - now it is only unusable as a phone due to the call quality problems.
Sorted.. thanks alot. My call quality aint great but I find it useable. another strange one is when I have the toshiba home screen on I often get the 'not enough memory' prompt, sometimes with just a couple of programs running. Ihate the guady stripey thing anyway but there does seem to be a ram issue.

I have the same issue, but in my case I left the win default lock screen with slider. Instead, I tried to play mp3 files with windows media player (the default one) - it is working properly so far (1 day of testing while walking)
what I would like to be able to solve though is switching off the screen completely so it does not light up in the pocket waiting for me to slide for unlock...
If I press the power button, the playback stops...any suggestions please?
One way is to use psShutXP
Then try to make the divice go to Display off not power of.
Another way is to use AE Button Plus
Then assign a key function for Display off. for example you can assign double volume down for Display off.
i can do lock , standby , anything with a bt headset ...
btw coreplayer has its own option to "turn off display" look for it in the options menu , should work for you guys

Screen timeout during full screen flash video

I have a unrooted S3, problem is that the screen times out during flash videos on fullscreen. Any way to fix it without increasing the time-out to 10 mins?

Enable "smart stay", so if your watching the display, it will not timeout
Phone menu > settings > display > smart stay .............
anyway of keeping full screen videos on until the video has finished? Smart stay is only ok if youre looking at the screen directly. I often have it laying flat on a table or my bed while lying down and watching it from an angle the phone will still go into standby. If you dont full screen the video and just watch in the browser it will stay on.
Im sure it never used to turn off when on ICS and its only since JB that this started happening. It must be something to do with the stock browser as if i use firefox and full screen the video it will stay on until the video has finished. Trouble is i dont want to use firefox permanently as i dont like the way it handles book marks. For everything else i much prefer the stock browser, just not this one issue.
Having the same annoying problem as well. I can't use smart stay since i'm watching online videos in the dark. Never had this problem when I was still on stock ics. I'm currently running omega rom, using default browser and adobe flash player 11.1.. Is there any custom fix or workaround with this type of issue? It bugs me when the video would start over when my phone locks automatically.

Backlight wont turn off after "x" seconds

Hey guys,
I have a fairly brand new (within the month) rooted GN II. The backlight fails to turn off after sometime for some odd reason. I have the backlight set to 15 seconds and Smart Stay off (aka all software options set to off). If I restart the phone, it seems to temporarily fix the problem until it happens later on somehow. Anybody know what could be causing this? Application?
PS- I havent soft/hard reset it yet.
Thanks
Some applications will keep the backlight on. Are you leaving a specific app when it happens?

Thanks for the reply! Not that I can think of. But wouldnt the phones hardware/software settings override any app? I think the only app I use on it is Skype?
Apps can request the android permission that allows the backlight to stay on constantly, think Navigation, the screen stays on the entire time you're navigating. Watching a movie or video does the same thing. It sounds like an app that has this permission not working properly and keeping the backlight on, but it's hard to tell. This would be why a reboot fixes it, because it would close the app.

Smart view screen off image persistence

So I've noticed when using smart view to cast to a TV screen, the phone screen will turn to a low power mode, that says smart view, press power or swipe to turn on. My concern is that this image causes image persistence once smart view is done, and could eventually lead to burn in. Does anyone know if this screen moves, like the Always on Display images do; or if there is a way to disable this screen without disabling the screen staying potentially awake the whole time. It may not be possible, but I wanted to see if anyone had any experience. The only possible workaround I've come up with is to use the android native casting feature (via nova and a widgets activity) and perhaps the following app.

I'm finding that mine doesn't always enter the power saving while mirroring which I wish it would when I want it to. If I turn the screen off while mirroring, then ask Google voice to play next song or something the screen mirroring wakes up and display on the external screen and puts the power save mode on the phone which is what I'd expect.
I wish mine did this without having to turn the screen off and the wake it up with voice. If I wake it up with the power button then screen mirror comes on b I t so does the normal screen on the phone.
Maybe we can swap ha ha.
Anyone else not getting the power save option when mirroring? I need to turn the screen off then ask Google to do something for the power save to work. Turning the screen back on doesn't help, just asking Google voice seems to bring it back. I was hoping it would just time out and start automatically. Samsung don't seem to understand their own options, with them telling me that it's not possible until I pointed out it's a software feature if their phone then they went silent.

How to make wake up screen on notifications last longer

heys guys, i recently downloaded a calendar app that wakes my screen up when an event gets notified, fact is it just wakes up for like 2 secs.
in the calendar app settings you can decide how much time it has to stay awake, but it doesn't work at all. even if i set it up to stay awake for 30 secs, my screen gets back to sleep in like 2 secs, i tried to change every possible setting (display stuff, battery stuff etc) but i can't find a solution to it.
any idea pls? thanks
