Before someone comments that I should try a few by myself and choose myself, hear me out. I'm installing this on my mom's phone, and replacing MIUI because its getting really laggy. I use a different phone so here looking for recommendation. Should be stable with frequent updates. Thanks a lot guys in advance.
i dont think installing custom rom on "mom's phone" is a good idea -_-
BTW, miui is not laggy (seriously, how can u say that miui is laggy??)
if you're getting trouble with miui, factory reset the phone, or fastboot flash latest miui stable rom.
better not to experiment parent's phone with custom roms
here is some recommendation (as u asked for it)
1. Nitrogen OS ( Based on Nougat, for great battery backup )
2. Resurrection Remix ( Based on both Marshmallow & Nougat, for better customization)
3. Linage OS 14.1 ( Based on Nougat, better stability)
nitrogen OS for better battery (31.03 build) and Lineage for better stability, as simoom said. Both are actually really stable but lineage is bugfree and it has franco's support for its legendary kernel
Btw, i'm currently using nitrogen 31.03 build and i can't complain of almost anything. There's just some sort of hanging, rarely tho, at opening some apps, lasts about 2 seconds, but happens under unknown circumstances. I gotta say i haven't ever found a bug on Lineage, but the battery on Nitrogen is double the better than on Lineage

It is laggy IMO. I use a Nexus 4 and that's faster than note 3. Maybe because of numerous bloatware and mi services. Thanks for the recommendation, will try nitrogen os.

Well, as i said, i never had an issue with lineage, nor camera since the camera patch.
Latest versions of miui i heard have heavily improved in terms.of performance and battery.
Miui is better than every other rom in terms of stability however lineage is also good
And rn3 have very good support of community
if you are going to install on your mom's phone then only 1 option: LineageOS official Nightly.
Hi all, I had been using CM 13 from long time and recently moved to Lingage OS 14.1. In CM 13.1 there is this network error bug present but it's rare but in Lingage OS 14.1 it's much more common when ever I open some massaging app network goes off. It's so irritating.
So please suggest the best custom Nugot ROM for oynx.

Try Tesla or DU. Pretty much the most stable ones. Network isn't too stable for me on any ROM also. It's weird since many people don't suffer it.

Network isn't stable on any N based rom that i have tried.
Let's wait for paranoid android and sultan's rom maybe they will be bug free.
I have tried almost every nougat ROM out there and I can confirm that no ROM has network stability.
You can read the reason over here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72607310&postcount=3
As far as it comes to network stability, OxygenOS will be the only solution. I am also switching back to OxygenOS for the same reason. Once PA 7.1.2 comes out, I'll try that and if not, then stay on OxygenOS.
Pure Nexus has been fantastic for me stability wise. Super smooth rom on the stock kernel/settings.
I can confirm that too.. There is no rom currently with guaranteed network stability. I switched back to stock OxygenOS and I have stable system and network plus great battery life. Unless something groundbreaking happens (I hope Nougat PA will do the trick), OOS is the most stable for now..
Thanks for your response.
no network issue. im using 7 roms and all is fine.

For me cellular data is very unstable on all nougat ROMs
I've tried Pure Nexus and it's been pretty reliable so far...
XenonHD 7.12 rom, no network errors, never seen similar bugs. Daily use ok.
network is stable on nitrogen and vertex both 7.1.2
Hi, I'm sorry if this question is asked way too frequently, but the thing is, when I bought the Redmi Note 3 over a year ago, I had planned to install a near stock Android ROM. But after searching for a good ROM, I found that none of the AOSP ROMs back then supported VOLTE, which I absolutely require for Jio. Even now when I search for marshmallow ROMs, most of them either don't support VOLTE or have some other bugs like dual SIM not working which makes those ROMs unfit for daily use. Now that xposed for Nougat is out, I'm willing to try a Nougat AOSP ROM. Is there a stable 100% bug-free near stock Android Nougat ROM for redmi note 3? I would appreciate if people would recommend me a good ROM ONLY if they have personally tested & confirmed that the ROM is indeed 100% bug-free, VOLTE works & there aren't any battery drain issues. I don't want to flash a ROM, then find out it has bugs, then move back again to MiUI. If there is no such ROM, then I'll just continue using MiUI. Thanks.
Dude mention your requirements like stability is undefined but on an overall basis, you can try any of these Tested: Resurrection remix, Viper OS, AOSIP & Others: Citrus CAF, Nitrogen OS Nougat with a custom kernel like ElementalX or Radon. Check description for the site which contains everything you need.

I'll be checking out the site you mentioned, but my requirements are basically an AOSP ROM that is 100% bug free. Other than that, I would _PREFER_ a ROM that doesn't have way too many additional features(Resurrection Remix is one good example of a ROM having too many additional features). I would rather use Xposed for all the fancy features & not have it built into the ROM. It's pretty hard to find a ROM that doesn't have ANY kind of bugs or any battery drain issues so I would use any AOSP ROM that is completely bug free, I have no specific feature requirements.

IMO Customised Lineage OS by Umang96 is the most stable Rom. It has Radon kernal build in.
I decided to flash a rom. But i can't decide which one best for daily driver.
I want to know that.. Please tell me which is the best.. Guys which rom are you using?
Bump
Hard to say because they're all pretty much alike. Pick your poison (Stock/Lineage/AOSP) and read up on the flavours the devs add to each one. Whatever floats your boat. All the active ones - that I have tried - are stable

If you want to try out nougat roms first then, resurrection remix is a must try. Now resurrection remix comes with a ton of customisations but if you are more of a stock guy then lineage os or slim rom is for you. However if you wanna directly try out oreo (which I won't recommend) then liquid remix, aosp extended 5.1 and aoscp are roms to definitely try out.

I used cardinal for a week and i must say it's pretty good for daily driver. Smooth and stable. I tried a few oreo roms (omnirom, aex and cardinal) and i prefer cardinal in overall performance + battery. I used velvet kernel in all those roms. I decided to switch back to nougat rr since i like all those customization options and battery life is much better in nougat for now.

Pretty much all the roms are stable enough to use as a daily driver. But oreo isn't mature as of now. That's why i said not to try oreo. Plus since you haven't tried any custom rom for this devce, you "should" atleast have a look what the custom side of nougat has to offer. Don't get me wrong, oreo is good, and it's the best android right now, but there are some bugs regarding wifi and Bluetooth connectivity, and cellular network. However if you are really excited to try out oreo, especially pixel experience, then the only catch in the rom is that, many times the device is being referred as pixel and not Redmi note 4, like the setup says "set up your pixel device" , which for me i am not a huge fan of. Instead the i am gonna share my procedure for the perfect stock experience. So I've used the aoscp rom for about 2 months and it has been really good. It has a near stock experience but includes some tiny features like accent color changer, and button remapping. So what i do is, i install the rom, and along with it i install the micro package (or more recently i had started using the aroma package to install only what i need), and after gapps i install product sans font (attached thw zip in case you wanna try), and the ambient display gesture. Now at this point sometimes i also install the stormguard kernel zip file (stormguard is an overclocked kernel which actually gives nice increased performance, especially in games). Now this is my perfect setup for my device. Maybe you'll have something else? But definitely try this out.

I am currently using Luis Build.
It's the only unofficial rr build that is updated till now afaik, since there is no more official update.
I've tried almost all ROMs that are available for RN4..But when comes for daily usage I'd prefer LineageOS or resurrection remix.
And out of these two if stability and performance where of utmost important to me I'd use LineageOS(obvious isn't it??).
And if I wanted to customize my ROM as per my wish then RR it is. Doesn't mean RR is not stable it's just that Lineage is better in terms of stability.
Happy flashing!!

Nahh that's old now dude, since aoscp became official i feel it has become slower in performance. So right now i am actually using the Treble supported lineage os 15.1, and it is pretty good. However if you want customisations then there are only two roms to choose, and they are Resurrection Remix and cdDroid. These roms are filled with customisation, and both of them are based on lineage os. I've tried both and used resurrection remix for a week or so, so the main difference between both of them is, regarding the ui. The features are more or less the same, but resurrection remix is based on an older version of los rn (resurrection remix 6.0.0 taken in consideration) whereas crDroid is based on newer aources and has better ui control.
And regarding Lineage os, it is pretty good. I always decrease the animation speed to 0.5x to be smooth, and after that it's been real smooth and good. It now has some more customisation and features added. It also has a feature to change the accent color and ui mode. Pretty good. I've attached screenshots for you to see.
(The los now has new icons too)
In conclusion if you want features, go with Resurrection remix or crDroid. (I'll prefer Resurrection Remix), but if you want some aosp rom with decent amount of customisation then go for Liquid Remix or Aosip.
(In below screenshot, keep in mind that i installed the product sans font and ambient display mod
@Arnova8G2 Is there any chance that you are fixing the perennial slow motion crash bug on RN4.. I hope it is done cos it is the only thing that is not working as of now.

Check the Resurrection Remix thread. You can find it there.
This is my first time installing a rom on a xiaomi, i already unlock bootloader and install TWRP.
I had consider installing Dot Os Rom but there are some comments that said that there is a slow charging issue. Right now im between Pixel Experience Rom and Lineage OS; does this ones have big bugs? i mean i want a daily driver rom . What are your recommendations? Or should i stay on miui?

In general you can say that Nougat is more stable than Oreo and has better battery life.
If you don't mind waiting till Monday and can live with a few bugs, go with LineageOS 15.1 Official (based on Oreo).
Currently I'm using LineageOS 14.1 Official. Bug free for me, stable, good battery life and updates every week.
The problem with most ROMs is actually that at some point the developer decides to drop support for a ROM and moves on the another ROM or phone. You are then left with a ROM with bugs and unfixed security holes.
That won't happen when using LineageOS official builds
