I have an LG V30 (european version) and i am very satisfied with it. But not with the poor support it has.
I was thinking to make an upgrade and change to an another better. I would like other from V series.
Which of the flaships lg devices have more support and customs roms?
This V30 has many custom ROMs. Not all of them are listed here, but are in the LG V30 Telegram thread.
You can also check out the EU V40 and EU V50. Same LOS dev as the V30 and probably a few LOS-based ROMs.

its a long history, people are talking and saying that LG itself say to a user they dont will update G4 and V10 because Nougat runs unstable on SD808, but then i remember LG Nexus 5X and they have the same SoC than us, and i think the online support lie to the user in question and now that user are in "emergency mode" and post it in every thread they see and make panic between V10 and G4 users.
I belive we will get it, and of course if you have the Korean model you should get the update firt than us of international model or USA models. Korea make them firt for theyr country and after to worldwide!
Dont get too excited because i think until G6 dont get in the stores we dont get the updates, let the G6 have 1 week on the shelfs trying to sell and after that i think we get the update!
Relax...LG always do things like this, i remember in december 2015 with my G3 lose hopes if they get Marshmallow and then they release them to G3, G4 get it first by the time, software info on high end LG phones is always V10x, V20x and v30x - x is one letter of the software, so, G3 get Marshmallow, G Flex2 get it too last year when i have it...and remember G Flex2 is the dark member of the LG phones because the overheating SD810 and anyway they get the update to MM.
the Android 7.0 software update is now available for south korea variants of LG V10

Hello LG users !!
I just wanted to know what all model are gonna be in " unlock bootloader" list.
Compatible apart from H930 and H930G and will H930DS will be added in the list ??
If not, say I'll use international version, will I be able to use my sim?? Band 3,4,5
Also I need plus variant only tho . If I cant flash a custom recovery , phone is useless for me :/
H930G V30+ is on the list, as long as you don't buy it in Israel.
US998 V30+ should be added to the LG Developer Bootloader Unlock list soon.

Any guesses as to what "soon" is, though? I can't seem to find any predictable timeline for this. My V30 will be here in a few days, and trying to decide if I should wait on migrating to it (until after bootloader unlock is available)...
Thanks!

All we can go by is past LG timeline.
Took six weeks for the open market LG US997 LG G6 earlier this year. (May 12 - June 29).
The official release date for the open market LG US998 was December 5, but B&H Photo shipped a few days early (on December 1). Six weeks would be in a week or so, depending on your tea leaves.
The open market US998 V30+ was released towards the end of December -- hope that didn't reset the timer...
LG should preemptively place these on that bootloader unlock list, but they don't. It would boost sales.

This is also confirmed to work for the open market V30S sold by B&H Photo:
WTF V30/V30+/V30S Bootloader Unlock and Root (MOST VARIANTS)
Enjoy!

I am glad to report (bootloader) unlock worked on the new V30S
Simply unboxed, loaded new unlock bin (ADB returned "OKAY"), and rebooted
LG Developer unlock page method did not work
Big thank you to everyone, @txanmoe and @ChazzMatt in particular.

I'm sure the answer is that it won't work, but I want to confirm.
Will doing this ruin LG Pay when it's eventually released in the US or will there be a way to fix it IE Magisk or something.
Recently switched from an S8 and I miss Samsung Pay.
like the look of the V30S, especially since it's $230 cheaper than the V35. Has anyone actually bought and tried it? I'd like to use it on Verizon and it has all the right bands to work but I want to be sure. And it would be nice to know if it's Treble enabled.

As a user of Straight Talk, which uses Verizon networks, the phone works just fine.
Switched from an S8+ to this. So far I'm liking it. The only real difference I've noticed is that it's only slightly smaller. Battery great. 50% after 12 hours. About four of which it was used.
V30S on the way
Sweet my V30S is on the way from B&H!!
Cheers

You can use Magisk to hide bootloader unlock and root.
You need to ask these questions over in the V30 forum. The V30S is just another V30 "Joan" variant, like the V30+. They are all "Joan" devices, same TWRP works for all, same ROMs work for all.
The LG V35 is the one that is different that need their own forum! V30S is just another V30, but with more RAM.

Are the V30S and V30 (and V30+, and...) stock ROMs the same? In the V30 forum, for the latest 20E update, you wrote:

"V30s" is not in the list. Is that because it's not compatible... or because LG has mucked up the model numbers so much that it's hard to keep straight and it was accidentally omitted? lol
I thought the V30S has Google Lens and more AI options in the camera and voice controls, hence the ThinQ in the model name. Like the G7 has. If all this is true... Does that mean I could flash the V30S stock ROM to my V30 (US998, 64GB, 4GB) and get those extra features?! Or, am I wrong, and the stock V30S ROM is the same as my stock V30 ROM? Where can I even get the V30S stock ROM? It's not in the V30 forum, nor is it here.
I know that LG has cast off the shackles of the traditional release cycle, and is releasing much more iterative updates more frequently... so... at what point does the hardware diverge enough to prevent cross-flashing the stock ROMs among versions?
Thanks for the help. I've been happily humming along with my US998 on 20B lately, and just recently played with a G7 and Google Lens in the camera. Now I'm digging a little and getting confused.

Yes, ALL V30/V30+/V30S are ThinQ, with Oreo. ALL the US998 V30/V30+/V30S use the SAME KDZ.
Sent via open market LG US998 V30/V30+
Hello. I'm wondering if someone knows about LG V35 Europe launch. I've read that "LG confirmed for PhoneArena that the unlocked LG V35 ThinQ will be available in mid-July with compatibility for all four major US carriers." Does this mean that the unlocked version will also work outside US and/or there will be a global launch, too?
I really liked the V30, but the FFC camera is a joke for this price, and V35 seems like my only option without a notch, up-to-date SoC, decent FFC and wide angle. I was going to wait the V40, but there are rumors it will have a notch, so I'll skip it.
Hi,
Can anyone tell me the differences between the V30 and the V35 as far as installing ROMs and such? There is a thread for the V35 but its pretty bare. Do all the installation procedures and work the same on both?
V30: a only, SD835
V35: A/B (recovery is in boot partition, slots, and so), SD845

Just to be clear, you do know V30 and V35 are completely different phone series? Custom ROMs for V30 (Joan) will not work on V35 (JudyP).
LG V35 (JudyP), G8 (JudyN) and V40 (JudyPN) with LG "Judy" internal code names and Snapdragon 845 are all more similar to each other than to V30/V30+/V30S (Joan).
Now you need TWRP and a V35 ROM to install.

The same goes for the V30S ThinQ? Im thinking about buying one of these and I just want to know which one has the most support when it comes to custom ROMs and everything associated with it.

V30/V30+/V30S are all the same phone (JOAN), just with different options for internal storage and RAM. They all run the same firmware, same mods, same ROMs. This is why the official V30S forum is dead, because all V30S users are here. THIS is the V30S forum.

Drop the "ThinQ" part. Every V30/V30+/V30S on Oreo or later is ThinQ. No one actually uses that word.
Back when the late 2017 V30/V30+ Snapdragon 835 was still on Nougat, LG introduced the V30S in early 2018 with Oreo software and AI cam -- calling it "ThinQ" -- and trying to pretend it was a totally different phone to compete with the new Galaxy S8/S8+ which had Snapdragon 845.
It wasn't a totally different phone. It was merely a V30+ (128GB) with 6GB RAM, instead of 4GB. It was still a "Joan" phone.
When all the other V30/V30+ got Oreo, they also received this "ThinQ" AI cam. And LG grudgingly admitted all V30 would become "ThinQ" (stupid name no one uses) once they all got Oreo -- while they were still trying to sell this "new" V30S.
For the US998, all the V30/V30+/V30S all use the exact same KDZ firmware.
The only issue with US998 V30S is it's hard to find and when you can, it's too expensive for what you are buying. Most people just buy V30+.
