Root - Magisk not working after installing - Xiaomi Mi 10 Questions & Answers

Hello, I tried to install mageski by boot. img patch or install the zip through Trwp.
Non of the methods worked even after successful install of zip or fastboot recovery boot.img.
I read there is an issue with the mediatek chip and mageski.
Is there a work around or a fix?
What release of the manager/zip shall I use?
Thanks for the help

Are you sure you're on the right forum? No mediatek in mi 10.

If you are a real Mi 10 mobile phone, after installing recovery, use the built-in root function to install magisk

There is no such problem on my phone. Android 10 uses magisk20.4, and Android 11 uses the latest Canny version. What is the rom version number of your phone? Or you can try the built-in root function of the Chinese version of twrp

I have a few questions re TWRP:
1.
Are there different versions available for the X720? If yes, which ones (including download link)?
I believe that I have installed this one ( https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=529152257862668751 ) which seems to differ from this one: http://www.needrom.com/download/twrp-leeco-le-pro-3/
2.
How are the partitions organized on the Le Pro 3? See also http://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/development/ref-lex720-64gb-partition-infos-t3493528
What is the difference between system and systemimage (as shown in TWRP)?
3.
Does the Le Pro 3 TWRP port still have any bugs?
For instance, it says that system is not mounted and, therefore, I cannot easily restore system partition. I tried to mount it but thereafter the phone did not boot.
Is it normal that system apps get restored if I only restore the data partion?
Thanks.

Sometimes I have the same problem, /system couldn't be mounted.
I solved it like this:
In TWRP go to Wipe -> Advanced Wipe -> Check System Partition -> Repair or Change File System -> Change File System -> EXT4.
Has anyone installed this successfully on 727 US version?

On my x720 I use another one, the latest V4 from chinese sites :
https://mega.nz/#!EVcUCY4J!nN9r170x1eL9uvZg2p4h-q_M9T3I3HxcdSRigl2DNj4
I have now installed TWRP v4 but still have problems to restore a backup.
First, I backed up everything. I tried to restore boot, system, systemimage and data. I did not restore efs, recovery and firmware. Do I have to restore firmware? What is that? What is the difference between system and system image? In any case, I got a lot of errors and the phone is very slow after I restored boot, system, systemimage and data.
Thanks!
The TWRP versions I tried (including v4) have problems and do not reliably mount my encrypted data partition. (I had a similar problem with the initial TWRP ports for the Elephone P8000. The problems were fixed and subsequent ports worked without problems.)
Moreover, if I boot into TWRP recovery the screen is flickering from time to time (probably just a cosmetic issue).
Is there an updated TWRP version 5 or something? Could you please link to the Chinese website where the TWRP port for the LePro3 is made available? Thanks!
I am trying to unlock the bootloader right now using the fastboot oem unlock-go command and it is not working on the US variety. I have also enabled the oem unlocking in dev options, as well as, debugging. Has the US variant changed things to prevent the bootloader from being unlocked?

I can't install TWRP, it says it is finished but when entering recovery, still standard EUI recovery is there.
Tried the V4, but can't read what to do. Please help.

Is it possible to root A9 Pro 2016 On Android 8.0 Oreo

Hello, I recently put Android 8.0 on my a9 Pro 2016 (SM-A910F).
I would like to know if it is possible to root this device, Kingroot doesnt work. Also it would be appreciated if you can tell me how exactly to do it.
I couldn't find TWRP for A9 Pro (on Android 8.0). There is just TWRP 3.0.2.1 and I think it's not working on OREO.
Previous twrp not working? Can we flash back to Nougat? Hope developers can create twrp for this soon.
Twrp is working just format data and flash magisk but still cant mount data no verity no encrypt_ashyx not working anymore

Is Magisk safe with latest update?

I have global Honor 9, updated to 8.0.0.379(C432), unlocked and rooted.
I read that Huawei rolled out an update which broke Magisk, does anyone know if the latest update is safe?
How can I tell if an update is safe to use?
I'm using it with the new 9.0.1 rom and it works just fine, the only problem is that it cannot exist on the phone at the same time with a TWRP recovery

as opposed to version 8.0.0.379?
I currently have magisk and TWRP with no problem, is this problem you describe is new to the latest version?
Do you have a different custom ROM?
I have the latest official ROM, and yes it is a new problem with EMUI9, the boot.img partition doesn't exist any more and magisk has to be installed on the recovery_ramdisk.img

So on EMUI9 there's no option of Root+Custom recovery?
So the options are either root or custom recovery?
Did I understand correctly?
Thank you
Yes, correct until new findings lead to better solution, and keep in mind that you have to boot to recovery each time to keep root working...

That sucks big time.
What do you mean by "have to boot to recovery each time"? every time I restart the phone or turn it off and back on I must go through recovery?
I think I'll avoid EMUI9 and stick with EMUI8.
For some reason there are not much custom ROMs or honor 9
That is the last time I buy a non root friendly phone like Huawei/Xiaomi
Once you have magisk set up you can just get it to flash the boot image from within the manager you can boot as normal then

From within magisk manager click on install magisk and the select the direct install method. It patches the right bit then and you can boot without going through recovery

When I do that it gives me 2 options, one is download a zip file (and then I need to install using TWRP, right?)
The other option is patch a boot image, and it lets me look for one. Is this option to patch a downloaded boot image and then I need to flash it? what do I do with this option?

TWRP for Android 9 Pie?

My phone just got the android 9 update, I already had installed root with twrp on my device with android 8.0
So when I tried to re-root my phone I needed to reinstall the TWRP but it couldn't decrypt the data
I tried all of the posible solutions to this but nothing
I think that is the TWRP version that can't decrypt data in android 9.0
But in the web isn't any version that support the Mi 8 LIte with Android 9.0
Do I need to wait until someone update the TWRP version or what can I do?
Thanks in advance

Formatting data have to decrypt it, you have to be sure that TWRP is able to mount data partition.

You are upgrading now; for this you need to decrypt it for first time and probably every time that you switch from a miui to an AOSP rom. Be sure that your data partition is mounted and I guess you canĀ“t see the files under TWRP. Try first with this zip https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/universal-dm-verity-forceencrypt-t3817389
Stock Miui re-encrypt data on first boot after factory reset, so you need to flash Universal DM-Verity
I also need TWRP for pie.
Try this recovery, It has more features than TWRP https://sourceforge.net/projects/orangefox/files/test_builds/OrangeFox-R9.0-1-platina.zip/download

Would you happen to know if opengapps aroma works with this recovery. I have tried 3 or 4 other revoveries and once options are selected and install starts recovery reboots. After that I have to hold power to force reboot because no matter what reboot option I choose it just goes back to recovery.

Unfortunately I can't tell you for sure cause left 3 days to unlock my bootloader but I used this recovery in two Xiaomi devices (R5Plus and Mi Max) and was the best I ever tried, never had issue flashing Aroma zips.
Be sure that once finished the installation Reboot box in Aroma be unticked

If you are using the wzsx150 3.2.3 twrp found under the ROM/recovery section, versions 0121 and 0212 are both supposed to be for Android 9. I haven't tried myself though, as I am still on 8.
I can confirm version 0212 does indeed decrypt data partition, making it mountable it inside TWRP. Of course phone's now running on official Android 9 MIUI 10, updated on Wednesday.
So heads up for anyone trying to use open gapps aroma installer. No recovery will install it. Tried batik, orange fox, perp, and wzsx150 twrp and all do the same. After all the selections when the actual installation starts the device reboots (installs nothing but does save setting options) back to recovery. All reboot options (system, fastboot, etc) all reboot back to recovery only holding power button will allow device to boot into system.

Any idea why is 0212 half the size of 0121, and the others for that matter (28MB vs 60MB).
I believe it's somehow compressed. If you open these files with something like 7zip you'll see the size is very close between the two.

Flashing Stock MIUI 12 via OrangeFox recovery

You can flash this directly from ofox. It's the current updated Android R stock firmware which is stable. Just format your data, flash the recovery rom (not the fastboot rom) and reboot.
But I highly recommend you to try EU rom from xiaomi.eu website.

Ys. It's the eu one that I mentioned.
But note that eu roms are always little behind the latest versions.
Right now, eu rom is 12.0.1 & stock is 12.0.4.
But don't worry, differences are very minor. Go with EU.

I can't modify system files and root apps don't do what they are supposed to do. Please help.

Maybe. Because, Encryption & rooting together doesn't go well.
On Encryption, you have to follow boot patch method. Recovery flashing won't work.
Extract boot.img from your stock firmware (or EU rom firmware), patch that file from magisk patch method. You'll get patched_boot.img. Flash that as boot under recovery.

Hey dude, first of all, I'm thankful to you for keeping calm and helping me
But actually both TWRP and OFox recoveries show nothing inside /system except for 4 folders which has nothing inside them. So I can't even see the files I want to delete.
Maybe it's because of the dynamic system partition or super partitions in android 11, idk I'm just super disappointed
Hey, @MPK99
One thing I noticed that system can be mounted read-only in OFox. If I want to mount it read-write, it just won't.
