I have bought a P40 Pro+, knowing that GMS was not installed and hoping either a) Petal Search would help me install the apps I use or; b) there might be a way to install GMS failing a).
Googlefier doesn't work for me as LZPlay doesn't work anymore.
This is a story leading to some questions. I am a software developer, but not with Android so please consider me a noob.
I have tried contacting Huawei tech support asking why they restrict the ability of users to root their phones whereas in the PC world when one buys a gaming PC, everything one can think of is opened up to help enthusisats 'tweek' their PC's to get the best/what they want out of them. As far as I am concerned, one has to be pretty keen to buy a P40 Pro+.
I received a stock dull response from Huawei.
So, having already been intimidated/spooked by whispers that rooting P40's was not possible, I decided to have a look myself.
It seems that rooting the P40 series is possible - although I have not gone as far as trying it. I started here which led to this link offering a possible method but I got caught in click bait whlist attempting to download the link at the bottom labelled 'AutoRoot Tools for Windows' - link deliberately not included. The link tempts one with a file called 'autoroottools3.0-win.zip' but downloading is conditional on completion of marketing nonsense. I fell for it, and backed away when I realised a) it wasn't going to let me have the file in the foreseeable future and; b) even if it did, my trust level of that file had disappeared through the floor.
Question #1: Which rooting process/apk/Winapp whiich can successfully root a P40 do you recommend?
Hypothetically speaking, the next problem is installing the base GMS services on a rooted phone. There does seem to be an process asscoiated with an old GMS apk file from 2018 which might work (yes, I know it's wishful thinking).
Question #2: What is the likelyhood of the above apk working? I am asking two questions here, one is a) will such an old apk install on EMUI 10 and; b) Will Google let me install in any case if it knows the phone is a Huawei P40?
Question #3: Is it worth trying OpenGApps?
Question #4: Has anyone tried the virtual machine VPhoneGaGa?
Question #5: Is it worth trying MicroG?
Question #6: What is the perceived likelyhood of Biden releasing the embargo on Huawei, opening up the possibility of Huawei phones being able to natively install GMS?
Have I missed anything else worth trying?
With my best regards, Paul.
With regards to thread's title: Already tried this?

Hello, I'm new to this forum so i want to apologize in advance if this is not the correct section where i should post this.
Well, back on topic, i recently got a new Huawei Ascend Y330: Dual Core 1.3, 512MB Ram, Android 4.2, Emui 2.5 (i guess). The thing is that when i tried to download Clash of Clans from the App Store, it told me that the app is not compatible with this device. I'm puzzled because i was able to download Asphalt 8 and play without any issues and that game needs more requiriments than CoC. But anyways, i tried updating my device and everything i could do but nothing. One of my friends told me that i can solve this by rooting my device and he mentioned something about ROMs. But I don't know anything about rooting devices.
I want to resume in a short question: Am i able to play CoC if i root my device? If yes, please tell me how to root it, the thing is that I'm new to this process and i wanted some advice before i do anything stupid. I don't want to damage my phone. And i know there are a lot of tutorials on how to root it but they're for Samnsung, LG, and those famous companies, in the other hand, i got a Huawei and the model i have it's no so recognized like an LG G3 or a Samsung Galaxy s4.
This will be helpful not only for CoC but it might happen with more apps that i want to get in the future so i really want to know the answer. Thanks in advance!

Have any of you guys found a reliable way to do this yet? Most of the links or guides I've seen on this so far seem a little be hand wavey in one way or another.
Also, you used kingo root to root it? It wouldn't work when I downloaded the apk, did you have to download it to your desktop?

Did you get it to work with google play? WHat ROM did you use, I'm unsure if I should use the GR3 (model TAG-L--) or the TIT-AL00 ROM.

Did you manage to get it working with google services?
I'm guessing the guys in this thread have either sorted the problem or no longer need the solution. However, if anyone else is in the same position, I'm just updating to let you know that I (with a lot of help from a friend) have got google play services installed and working on my phone. We used a combination of this thread which is the same process, but the device here is slightly different (TIT, not TAG) and therefore the CWM recovery file never worked on my phone. So using this thread, we were able to find the download TWRP instead (it links to another thread where you can download TWRP).
The entire process if fairly simple.
The hardest part for me was getting the bootloader code. I needed to contact Huawei consumer services (one of the European offices) and explain I needed the code. They told me I needed to contact the Chinese consumer services as that's where I bought the phone, they spoken very little English so it went nowhere fast. I contacted the same European office again and explained I cannot get the code via typing my info into the unlocker webpage, nor through the Chinese office. So they managed to get back to me after a day or so with the code (I needed to send a screenshot of the unlocker page failing to give me the code, along with the other phone info the unlocker page asks for).
Once you have that, just follow the guide for the TIT-AL00 (but with the TWRP recovery linked above). You don't need to root the device if you just want GAPPs. I have the device working with all the google apps etc, and didn't need root access.

this is a 2015 phone ... there's probably some thread discussion about this issue try using forum search bar
I've been a oneplus one user from the past 3 years, I came happy to Huawei because I really like the device, it's wonderfull, but I hate Emui, so, I rooted it, and that's all... becase I also read here that's it's easy to brick, so, I have my Huawei Mate 10 rooted with Magisk and I'm scare, I want to remove ads efectively, and I just read the other post for doing it without root. I know there are modules to remove ads from Android, but I write this post to ask concretely which methods are optimal for Huawei Mate 10 and his Emui. Thank you all, I hope I'm not repeting a thread

In Magisk settings, enable systemless hosts, than install AdAway from XDA.
Hi, I'm new to this community. I have experience jailbreaking my iphone, but I am unfamiliar with how the different rooting applications work across multiple platforms (e.g. are they universal). I was thinking of buying a Sonim XP8 because it has a bunch of interesting features that I haven't seen on mainstream phones. However, I am not willing to buy one unless I am able to root it. Is my dream possible?
I too would like an XP8 with root. Is there anyone who can help with this request per chance?

I tried kingoroot, and it failed. I haven't been able to find any options either. Hopefully, someone has some ideas. I have come to rely on root to block ads. They are beyond horrible.
any update yet? is there any root yet ive tried about every root apps i cant even find working drivers for this phone
Sonim xp8 dual sim issue
When i put 2 sim cảd to the device but only 1 work
I talked to Sonim about getting root access as there is a problem with my Xp3800 flip and I know its just a xml edit. They told me the phone cannot be rooted as its encrypted and has secure boot which makes sense as these are geared towards public safety
Hello Everyone,
I'm new to the forum and have been reading old posts to get current on the state of the collective effort here. Though I'm looking to contribute overall anyway I can, my current short term goal is to get hotspot working with my current carrier (Mint) with the used XP8 I purchased. The handset was originally an AT&T phone and came with the Android 8 update installed.
At the moment, I'm attempting to get the 10 firmware update hoping that might solve the hotspot issue, but I suspect that it's the carrier specific software baked into the image that's the real cause.
Today I reached out to AT&T and, despite not being a customer, they claimed to have allowed my phone (By IMEI) to get access to the 10 update. We'll see if it actually works as the tech indicated that it would take two hours for the authorization to propagate. If so, I'll attempt to pull off the firmware and share it.
Hi, I was wondering if anyone has been able to unlock their Huawei Y9 2019, ever since Huawei blocked their bootloader service. I wished to install viper4android in my device however, due to the inability to root the device, that wish stopped dead in its tracks. If anyone could help, I'd be highly grateful
