How to develop an application for Android?

I want to develop a new sms application for Android that suits my needs without all the extra stuff I don't need..
But where do I start, and is it difficult to get it done?
Questions should be asked in Q&A forums, not Development forums.
Thread moved.

As a concept it shouldn't be ultra hard to develop, but it all depends how complex you want this sms application to be. As far as how hard it would be to develop such a application depends on your programming expertise. If you have never programmed anything before it's still manageable but it would take a lot of time and effort. Still take a look at some of these links that can hopefully get you started.

Good luck
Tasker (when run on GB or later) now comes with App factory, which allows you to conver tasker projects to Apps (no copyright problems... tasker allows you to do whatever you want with those created Apps, just mention tasker in your credits).
Seems like one of the easier options to me for developing simple applications for someone starting completely from scratch.
(I'm not a developer, take it fwiw).

[Q]What the best & simple way to check for license(LVL)?

I want to protect my (paid) app from being copied from the market to another place and being published for free.
I know that LVL has a lot of options like, Obfuscator, ProGuard, Policy and probably much more ways to make it more secure.
What from all of this should I use without making it too complicated?
Another thing, How often should I check for license considering that it has only settings screen and its work is done in the background.

What tools should I use for development?

Hello XDA forum members.I want to be able to make my own Android applications that could work via internet.I would like to create small and simple social network with some simple functions.I'm starting with learning of programing in C++ because I always wanted to know to program in that language. But first I would like to create an application that would be used in Android. So I'm willing to learn an additional language just so I could make this idea that I have and I'm sure that I will use this knowledge in future.
So my question is in what program do you code applications for Android smartphones, what is the best way to learn it and when I learn it I want to be able to make application like Badoo(social, meeting application) Badoo is the best example of what I'm trying to do because it is downloadable application that connects to their website.Because this idea that I have will have similar interface and similar features. Please help me with your advice so I don't loose time on mistakes and trying on different languages.Thank you in advance.

[Q] how can i manipulate my android phone into thinking it is getting shaken?

Are there any applications for android which would make the phone think it is shaking? Or an app which would manipulate other apps that require shaking (like alarm apps that need you to shake the phone to stop the alarm) into intercepting that the phone is shaking? If there are no apps for this is there a possible way to fool the phone to think it is shaking? Or how can i create an app that does this? i also want the app to work on background. for doing this there obviously is a need to manipulate the sensors that can understand when the phone is shaking. how can this be done?
i am a newbie in android developer but i do have some skills in c++, c# programming.
my android device: sony xperia z ultra rooted
let me give you an example to simplify my question:

all i want is to make that shake meter to go to 100 % and finish off without me shaking the phone. if there is anyway this can be done, please help. i am willing to do anything to learn how to do this.
can roms help?

[Q] Is there a way to hide apps from the package manager?

You'll have to forgive my limited knowledge on the subject, so feel free to correct anything I state. From what I understand, any app can see what's installed on your device. I'm not particularly fond of this notion for a plethora of reasons, so I was hoping there was some way to prevent apps from seeing other apps on my phone.
Any method of what essentially boils down to "hiding apps from each other" would suite my needs. Is there any way to achieve something like this?
Even just a way to rename apps so other apps can't tell when they are would suite my needs, assuming the apps, themselves, could still run okay.
