Hi All
I used to use this site for my old HTC phones a long time ago. Saw a recent post about someone who had got a new ebay phone. I got one for my son but think the firmware is not UK-based whereas I am, so obviously he is. The firmware is from June 2019 and it's not self-updated. We're using a sim only deal with Giff-Gaff (probably)
SM-G965U S9+ Software G965USQS6CSGB / G965UOYN6CSGB /G965USQS6CSGB
Is this a UK firmware? If it is a US firmware, can I flash it with a UK firmware, as long as it's for the SM-G965U Galaxy S9+ ROM?
Thanks ahead of time to any of you that answer. Used to firmware- flash lots of previous phones and a bit (a lot) rusty on flashing a new Samsung S9+
I have what looks to be the same phone. It is supposed to be an unbranded (as in no mobile carrier) unlocked phone. I have my doubts about that even though there is no carrier software installed. The SM-G965U is a US model. From searching on G965USQS6CSGB, it appears the firmware is for the T-Mobile network. My phone is also stuck on the July 2019 patch update with no available updates. Samsung support says there is no update available. So far, I have been unable to update the firmware.

Hi Guys,
Just a quick question here that I cant seem to piece the answer together for. I have seen in the forum requests and talk about Three branded S3's and just wondered if anyone that has used it or knows more than I could tell me.
1) Apart from start-up logo is there anything else on a 3 branded phone that's missing or cant be removed without needing to be root or re-flashing it?
2) I directly asked the guys in the shop if they change the firmware/ROM and they said no when Samsung release updates you get them instantly, would that be true? I mean if its branded doesn't that mean it goes through the network to tinker before release?
I ask as my HTC Desire was from T-Mobile and they took so long to release the 2.3 update (If they ever did) I went custom ROM and while I can always go custom or flash an unbranded ROM out of the box I could just go to carphone warehouse, etc and buy it unbranded in the first place (For a slightly worse deal) and the fear I feel flashing a brand new phone is quite high
Thanks,
Snowdan.

i can tell you that its not true., i also purchased it on three UK and the firmware it came with was the inital release one which is I9300XXALE8_I9300H3GALE4_H3G which i believe was released in may, i tried to update to the latest one via ota and kies but it kept saying my software is uptodate. which was a lie. i then installed I9300XXALE8 (4.0.4) which is a unbranded version and check on kies and immediately it prompted me for an update I9300XXBLFB (4.0.4) which was released 26 June 2012. I9300BVALE4 (4.0.4) was released 13 May 2012.
i had to change the CSC so that kies would recognize my device and allow updates.
check this thread and video it'll explain all

Thanks for the response guys it sounded unlikely. I will take the non optimal deal and have the unbranded out of the box just to save the upfront effort. Once I start flashing ROM's I find it hard t stop and would like to use this vanilla and unrooted (Hoping for Sky Go ICS support one of these days) for a bit.
Thanks,
Snowdan.

my g850f is unlocked UK and still don't have the 5.0 update. tried software update and kies. so you're not the only one. still sucks though
anyone know any way i can get 5.0 without voiding warranty? i'd want either an unlocked 5.0 or an EE 5.0 rom.

I've been waiting since februari, it's kinda frustrating. especially since Alpha is supposed to get the 5.2 update this year. I mean it's already august and 5.0 still isn't here for my 850f. really?
yea it really sucks.

ok.
on sam mobile website there is:
a UK BTU 4.4.4 rom which i think is the one i have now, it's the latest one on the list which i have.
an EE 4.4.4 rom (no 5.0.2 roms unfortunately)
a H3G 5.0.2 rom
the EE and H3G roms have different CSC and PDA then mine, can i still use them? theyre both for g850f which is my phone. my phone is Unlocked UK. my network is EE and i was planning on getting EE 4.4.4 and hoping EE have updated it to 5.0.2 and update through the phone. if they havent i'll just get the H3G rom.
here are screenshots of my phone info:

thanks.
I couldn't wait anymore, I flashed 5.0.2, failed flashed modem of my 4.4.4 rom, works like a charm. Didn't have to factory reset. Good
The reason there still no Lollipop update for the Simfree Alpha in the UK is because EE as of yet still not released it for the Alpha.
Until they do Samsung will continue to hold back the BTU Lollipop update.
All four UK major networks have priority because that where Samsung makes most of it's money selling these phones to the networks, simfree users only make up a very small amount of the market hence why we always put on the back burner when it comes to updates.
So it's October and I am still on 4.4.4. No update for galaxy a500g. I wish that m€£#^@er shamesung meet the same fate as Nokia.
I got my wife a E2306 (16bg) for Christmas. I charged it, updated the firmware then put in her Tmo (USA) sim card. It says the firmware is up to date but she's only on A.2.99 and from what I've read on this forum and the Sony site, she should be on A.2.167. Do you know if this is due to being in the U.S. or something else? Do I just have to flash the latest firmware to it? Not looking to ROM or root her phone. It's an unlocked model so it shouldn't have to do with my carrier. Especially since I updated prior to putting in the SIM for the first time.
In USA, the latest available firmware is 2.99, so your phone is up to date. You could flash a firmware from another country if you'd like to have a 2.167 version. Use Xperiafirm to check the available versions from the diferent countries for your model.
Thank you!
I recently got an unlocked galaxy s9+ (sm-g965u1) and i like to at least have the latest firmware on hand incase i need to flash it. sammobile has multiple firmware files available to download. seem to be carrier specific. what would happen if i flashed one that says, say, AT&T? currently it has no carrier apps built in.

Far as I know it would just have the all the carrier specific apps and what ever little carrier additions the firmware has that the U1 firmware didn't. Granted I have the Sprint S9+ but if I go from the Sprint firmware, to U1 firmware and back to Sprint firmware and that's what happens.
Though what I have been using for the unlocked firmware is at the link below. If you download any of the supplied G965U1 firmwares from the tutorials on the forum it's the XAA firmware.

Thank you. I ended trying a U firmware and got the att apps. been a long time since ive used android on an everyday basis.
Hello,
I got from my GF a Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro (Model Number SM-G887N, if you search for this one you will probably find A8s 2019 phone on SamMobile) with with a provider (KT) branding from Korea. This phone has currently Android 10 installed with the Build G887NKSU2CTI2. I would like to update the phone, but this didn't work on the phone directly.
So I thought about to remove the KT provider branding and install a clean Korean or European Software Build. I'm not new to flash phone (did this a few years ago, but since then a lot changed). I just wanted to ask if somebody can help me regarding the right Software and the possibility to remove the branding.
Can I remove the branding and install a clean SW from Europe/Korea? If yes, what for tools (Is ODIN enough?) and which SW would do I need? I guess there are tons of instructions but I do have a problem to figure out about the compatibility of SW and branding.
Thank you a lot
Android 10 seems like the latest version for your phone. Two OS-Updates done with that.

Hello Zentriks, thank you for the quick reply. I still get updates regarding security, same issue. Not possible to install. Apps also start to close itself after starting. This phone is a total mess. So I really would love to change the SW without any branding.
