Custom ROM help - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys. so I'm pretty new to rooting, flashing, all that fun stuff. I just bought a Motorola Moto G Power and rooted it along with unlocking the bootloader. I was trying to see if I could download some custom ROMs on it, but wasn't sure if the ones I saw were for my device. are these ROMs able to work on any device or are they strictly to some?

[Q] Flashing ROM before activation

Hello Everyone,
I am going to be getting an att atrix today. I have been reading around the forum and feel confident enough that id be able to root and install gingerblur without bricking my phone ( have done custom psp firmware, ipod jailbreaking, xbox flashing, etc).
My question is, is this safe to do before I activate my phone? I will be porting my number tomorrow, but I wanted to know if it would be safe to install a custom rom today, and still be able to activate the phone tomorrow.
Thanks
Yes you can. Enjoy.

[Q] installing custom rom on gtab

some questions before i buy this tablet... is it easy to install custom rom on it e.g. as easy as on an htc desire via clockworkmod? Do i need to worry about anything when buying it? (e.g. some models with unlockable bootloader something like that)??
Modding is relatively easy, especially if your already familiar with android and cwm. But there are quirks to the gtab, so you have to read and be aware of them. For example there are 2 different bootloaders out there and you need to use different versions of cwm for both. But overall it's not that hard to figure out. No worries about getting a locked down device. Plus the thing is basically un-brickable.

[Q] Help rooting and installing rom Huawei y300

Hello there, how are you?
My problem is, I received an Y300 as a gift, haven't yet received it but I want to prepare the necessary things to root it and install custom roms on it. No, this isn't the first phone I install a custom rom to, as I have already played with an Optimus L5 of a friend. Could you please answer this questions?
a) How do I root the phone and install CWM or other recovery? I have found many tutorials but they are confusing, and require waiting for 2-3 days for the code to unlock the bootloader. In case you need to know, it probably is the normal Y300, the international one, so no Asian Model
b) How many ROMS are there for this phone? I like Cyanogenmod and stock roms the most, I can barely stand the stock rom in the phone, so I would like to install a new ROM on it ASAP.
c) By flashing the new ROM, do I lose IMEI or something like that (EFS Folder in Samsung phones)? If so, how can I back it up?
Thanks for your help

Here is a GUIDE to unlock the bootloader and root your phone
Thanks, LS.xD
This was all I needed, I've found a CM11 Rom in the Modaco forums, hope it works well. Just got to wait until I get the phone
Okay, so I downloaded the latest nighly of the ROM, but it appears that CM11 is not very stable and has many problems with SystemUI (statusbar) and other things. Aren't there any ROMS for the Y300 on XDA? Also, will I lose my network connectivity if I do the wipes (data, cache, dalvik cache)?
Again, thanks for all your help, I appreciate it
EDIT: Found CM10.1 here in XDA but it redirected me to Modaco, however it is quite stable, downloading now. So which wipes do I have to do, in order to get everything smooth? Also, as I said will I lose my network connectivity or IMEI if I do these wipes, or I can do this without worrying

[Q] Noob needing help rooting. Overwhelmed

Hey guys,
I'm new to the android scene, and have basically no knowledge to speak of when it comes to going beyond the locked factory FW. It seems like there's so much more to this scene than iPhone jailbreaking (I had 3 iPhones before deciding I wanted to switch back to android)
I want to try a new FW, and try out apps only available for rooted devices. However, I cannot risk losing my warranty. What can/should I do to experience more with my Z2?
There are a number of easy one-click root tools that work on the Z2. I recommend this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559009
And don't worry about warranty. Root doesn't void warranty. Only unlocking bootloader does.
Once you are rooted, do check out Xposed. Once you have installed the framework, there are tons of Xposed modules that can help you to tweak the phone.
When you say you want to try a new FW, I assume that you want to try out a custom ROM. Do note that you need to install a custom recovery before you can install certain custom ROMs. I recommend [NUT]'s dual recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785598
And do note that not all custom ROMs work on locked bootloaders. Some require unlocked bootloaders.
Done and done. Rooted and downloaded a ton of mods. Woo!
Thank you!
Woah! I didn't know you could use custom ROMs without unlocking your bootloader....
So theoretically I can run different ROMs without killing my warranty... Hmm...
That's the beauty of Android.

I guess I have a ton of research to do. Lol
I just spent an hour modding a boot animation for 1080p, it's nice to have a hobby again. Haha

The best L9 (P760) ROM

Hello L9 Community!
My old man has the L9 for a while now and it crashed lately (it gives a security error at boot).
So I decided to unlock the bootloader and then flash a new rom on it.
But before I get to that I need to know what the best ROM is. I'm looking for a fast and stable ROM, I don't need lots of fancy costumalization options. Just something fast and stable.
Are there also things I need to know about this device before I start? Because I remember from my G2 and G3 that it was different than flashing a OnePlus device.
Thanks for helping me out!
I use cyanogenmod 11. It's stable and it has some useful tweaks. You have to unlock your bootloader first, than flash a specific twrp from cyanogen post. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2547442
I hope this helped you
