Sony Xperia Z2 LTE Tablet Update AICP - Xperia Z2 Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone, can someone explain to me what is wrong with my tablet, if I want to install the updates, then I can never install them automatically. I have to download the new software from the website and then reinstall it. After the installation I have to reinstall the Open Gaps because crash reports are always coming. Then I can rearrange all the symbols again. This is very troublesome. The TWRP is version 3.2.1-1 Could it be due to the TWRP? Where can I find a more recent version? How do I install the latest version? Thank you for your help.

Which recoveries are you trying? I had issues with 80% of zips when I was using the dual recovery because it makes the device think it's a yuga instead of pollux_windy

I use the same dual, which I use for it to be recognized as "pollux windy"? Pass the links please.
thank you
I don't think that is the recovery itself problem, but the updater-script. It is checking if your device is the pollux, whereas yours is the pollux_windy. If it doesn't match the script, it cancels the installation to avoid problems...

[Q] Xperia z2 Won't install Roms

Hello. This is my first time posting here, but I've used this a fair amount on previous phones to get root and rom's on. Sorry the links aren't links, as a new member I'm not allowed to post outside links.
I recently bought an Xperia Z2 online. I've spent the last few days trying to install cyanogenmod on the phone to no avail. Currently. So I'll outline the full process I'm using. I initially unlocked the phone using fastboot and sony official unlock method. I don't know fully if that carries over, or if it's problem if not. Then I flash on D6503_17.1.2.A.0.314_UK_Generic.ftf with the flashtools program. Using this video link watch?v=oEWheFGJRJ0, including all their specified files, I then root the phone, which is all fine. Then using another of his videos, watch?v=ubwdracEvyc , I install TWRP recovery, however his link is broken and I instead use the most updated zip file in the xzdualrecovery tab of nut.xperia-files.com. Downloading the latest xperia z2 nightly build from cyanogenmod website, I then load that onto the sd card, backup my system then do a full reset+wipe. It's here that I run into my erros. After clicking install from zip and selecting the CM12 nightly build, it begins running through the script and will then abort installation with the error
"This build is for D6502, D6503.. Sirius; This phone is "Castor"
Castor being the xperia z2 tablet. Loading on the Castor CM build will soft brick the phone and require a fresh restart from stock rom.
Loading up CM12's script file and removing the checks for phone version, I then get the following script install problem with no error code or message.
Installing update...
E: installation aborted
I've tried this with another rom with literally the same 2 issues.
Does anyone know what is going on and how I can fix it to install CM.

Z Ultra togari Mac Address Issues

I know this has been mentioned elsewhere for other Xperia Models, typically newer than the Z U, but I am running in to an issue where my two z ultras are trying to use the same mac address.
I wondered if there was a device specific work around for the z ultra and / if this is being addressed.
Running the latest nightly CM12 builds.
Cheers in advance.
http://d-h.st/agR
Download this zip and flash, it is a fix for when the mac address changes after flashing a custom rom.
Regards
Hi,
Thanks for the post, but unfortunately I am getting a package verification error and a footer error when I attempt to flash the package in recovery.
You are using cyanogenmod recovery, right? If so, you have to use TWRP or CWM to flash it, cm recovery have signature check and you can't turn it off, all custom recoveries have it disabled by default.
Regards
Thanks for the heads up teddy. I was using CM recovery. Installed TWRP and flashed the zip/update. However, CM12 goes tits up with TWRP every time I update CM12 and only seems to play nice with CM recovery. Gapps seems to be the issue with none stop force stops. Seems in order for this to work I have to flash TWRP, flash the mac address zip and then flash CM recovery back every time I want to update via nightly.
You can flash TWRP to the FOTAKernel partition if you don't want to flash it everytime you update rom and if you flash it, it should work like CM recovery and it will be booting instead of CM recovery. Just download an app called Rashr and install TWRP from the app I assume the fix is working for you, isn't it?
Regards
I did use rashr to install TWRP and that's when the issues arose.
Unfortunately the nightly update came through after installing TWRP so I did the update for 30th and the phone was in an unusable state via gapps force closes as mentioned. So I flashed back to CMr via the update and haven't installed the update yet.
Until I have a workable solution to the recovery issue I won't be proceeding. It will be too much hassle each time the updates arrive.
I don't think that gapps are force closing because of the recovery installed, that would be weird. Have you tried flashing another gapps? Because I have also used CM12 with TWRP and gapps and I haven't got that sort of problems, even now I am using CyanideL (CM12-based) with TWRP and on my configuration it is OK. I will try using CM12 nightlies with TWRP tomorrow and I will write you back if I found a solution
Regards
Yes, I was using the signed gapps dated late last year, but when I came across the issue I reflashed the whole of CM12 with the more recent ones dated April I think. I still had the same problem, which is when I read up and saw it was attributed to using a non-CM recovery and reset everything back to CM12 nightly + CMr, I did however keep the most recent gapps. Let me know how you get on.

Update to Marshmallow not working (maybe because i've got TWRP installed)

Hi,
I've previously rooted my tablet and recently unrooted and factory reset. I was excited to see that Sony are finally pushing out a Marshmallow update and tried to do the update, but when the tablet resets during the update installation it keeps just going to TWRP recovery page.
So - I have a feeling the tablet wants to get to its stock recovery as part of the install, but I don't know how to revert from TWRP back to whatever the Xperia z2 tablet stock recovery is... I guess I don't have any idea whether that's even the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
You would have to flash a stock FTF with flash tool. Easier solution though, download one of the pre rooted MM ROMs from the General section and just flash it with TWRP. Then you can have rooted MM.

[ROM][GT-I9190/I9192/I9195][Unofficial Test Builds][8.1.0] LineageOS 15.1 for S4 Mini

After nearly 3 months of work, it's time for the first test build of Lineage 15.1. The LTE variant is the first out, and the 3G variant will follow shortly. The dual-sim variant however might take a lot longer, or maybe never. This because we're now using source built radio interface library and blobs from flo/deb (Nexus 7) devices, and SIM detection is broken on the dual-sim variant with these.
To flash this, you'll need updated TWRP recovery:

serranodsdd (I9192): https://twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxys4minidsdd.html

Flash in Odin or through your existing TWRP.

Upgrading from 14.1 is not possible at this point.
Reserved for something.
Thanks a lot for your great work on our device - will try the build after downloading!
Edit: Rom works fine for my after some FCs at the Google Account setup (using micro gapps 08-11-2017).
Aweseome, thanks arco. I too experienced some Google crashes on first boot, but since then ROM works stable as one could wish, also battery life is good. Many settings are not accessable yet, but you wrote that in your post so I knew from the beginning. Gonna keep testing!
I installed the rom in my S4mini LTE. I faced some FCs at first boot (as the other members), but after that, everything is running smoothly.
I rooted the phone with Magisk as AddonSu is only for 14.1.
I am missing the option for "advanced restart", as well as the "buttons" menu options so as to change the long press of home and menu buttons etc.
Other than that, the rom is great. Congrats to the devs.
Similar FCs here (OpenGapps Nano), but no issues other than that. Installing APKs outside the playstore did not work for the standard filemanager and browser yet, but worked for Chrome.
Thats great NEWS!
Hope 3G serrano version is released soon arco!!
Thanks
Added build for 3G variant in first post.

Problem to install
Hello Arco68:
Device: i9190 - 3G
I was using custom-twrp-3.1.1-0-serrano3gxx-TRYOUT-signed (attached)
Using this build on recovery i could navigate OK inside SDCARD, when i try to install LINEAGE15 shows an ERROR 7 during installation.
So, i use that recovery to install recovery.img of your first post, but after that, when i navigate to sdcard shows empty (nothing).
I have lineage15 and Gapps on sdcard to install as zip.
So i could not select them. Any ideas to solve this?
I think recovery.img for 3G is buggy. (i test lte recovery to see what happens, i could navitate OK directorties in sdcard, but when installing lineage15 shows device is lte and the firmware is 3g, correct error).
So i think there is something wrong with 3G recovery of post 1
THX @arco68 for your work.
The first look after flashing it on my Phone, really good ,smooth.
The most of my used Options are working.
Bluetooth, mobile Data, Wlan Camera, I will try more and give feedback.
Question: will the TWRP also work for LOS 14.x ?

First post updated with new recovery for 3G. Something must have gone wrong when building the first one.

@arco68
I could install LIneage15 and runs OK, BUT when i install gapps 8.0 (micro, or pico for example), lineage starts to shows "google play services has stopped" error.
I have done a full complete WIPE (all advanced wipes on teamwin recovery and factory reset). Full clean of device.
Any ideas or compatibility problem with gapps?
Any alternative way of installing google play so i could install from there?

Did you install gapps right after installing the rom, before rebooting?

I try just after the ROM , and also after a complete reboot of the ROM (after). Both scenarios SAME problem. "google play services has stopped, gallery has stopped , etc."
I just re-install above the firmware one more time, and seems google play do a forced reinstall of google play directly from google and now seems working.
Maybe the gapps is outdated or has a bug, as google reinstall an updated version now.
Working version Google Play 8.4.|8-V-all FP 174072765
Google play store 11.7.46 (436-175121617)
Maybe GAPPS has OLD versions for 8.0 . I will check with them from the page
Solved after a second firmware rom flashing of lineage.. it keeps saying error, until google play was forced updated
@arco68 i sad about 19192 but i trust that you'll find a solution for this
After testing the ROM 24 hours seems all ok.
But i saw that on developer options the option to go root "root and applications" to have root access is missing.
How to be root from inside Lineage?
Or do i need to flash magisk?
Regards

You are able to root your device with a extra root package (you can get it from the offiziell LineageOS download page).

Had the same problem when I installed the rom, than did a reboot and after first start flashed Gapps.
I did a clean install with Gapps flashed after the rom, only got some FCs (just ignore them) and it will work.
