Is there a way to remove the HD from broken G5 to a working G5 and put it in another? (It won't turn on at all) I have some very important pics on one of my old G5's that will not turn on at all. I have 2 other G5's that work perfectly.
For HD you mean the internal memory? In that case, it should be unsoldered and soldered again on another G5, and SMD soldering requires specific tools and skills.
I think it would be easier, before trying the transplant, to track down the issue and see if the faulty G5 can be repaired.
Maybe you have already tried everything, but otherwise, have you tried to switch the chins and batteries between the faulty G5 and the other phones? If it doesn't work, you can then open the faulty device and post a picture of the board: sometimes it can be very easy to spot a broken fuse or resistor that can be much more simple to be replaced by a technician than a whole memory chip.

I did try 2 other batteries and the chins. It just keeps flashing the start screen.
I just tried it again and it turned on! But after 5 minutes of use, it crapped out again. It tries turning on but the start screen only goes on for about 30 seconds then goes black for 2 seconds and back to start screen for 30 seconds... SMH... I just want the pics out of it!!! It's garbage after that.
Before throwing it away: when you try to turn it on and then it shuts down, are you using a charged battery or are you charging it at the moment? The G5 requires a lot of power to turn on (and do any other operation that requires reading or writing the internal memory), and if the battery is not charged enough, or if you're using a 500mA USB port for charging, it will just try to turn on and then it will miserably fail.
Try charging the battery in one of the other G5s and then use it to boot the broken one. Or, if you have a custom recovery, to boot in recovery: it takes less time and energy than booting into Android. But do not attempt booting into recovery if you're not sure if you have a custom recovery: the default recovery just erases the whole internal memory.
I tried all that and nothing. It won't boot in recovery either.
Not even fastboot?

What is fastboot and what will it do?
Fastboot is an emergency method for booting the phone. You have to turn off the phone, keep the Vol- key pressed and then connect the USB cable to power. From there there's not a lot you can do, but if the bootloader is already unlocked (don't unlock it if it's locked, if you do that the internal will be erased) you can send TWRP to the phone and boot it without installing it in the recovery partition (the command should be something like fastboot boot "C:/location_of_twrp_on_pc/twrp.img"). You can also install TWRP with fastboot flash recovery "C:/location_of_twrp_on_pc/twrp.img", but still you need an unlocked bootloader.
If the bootloader is unlocked, this is what you should already see on boot, right after the LG logo:

I just tried it again this morning and it turned on but only for a few minutes. It felt like it was a little warm on the back of the phone when it shut down. I could not find the pics in that time.
Next time I get it going, I will try uninstalling all apps possible and see what happens.

I've been searching XDA and Google for months now and I haven't found anyone else with this precise issue. I'm very tech savvy, but this is just beyond me! What say you? Will you help me in my quest to diagnose my device and possibly find a cure?
Listed below is what occurs when the USB Cable is connected, either via PC or the Wall.
While USB Cable is disconnected:
Pressing or holding any of the buttons, together or individually, does absolutely nothing. (But the battery can't be dead. I've had the thing on charge all night!)
When USB Cable is connected:
http://youtu.be/J8FJSo_S7cQ
Without pressing anything, the device powers on into download mode and continues to reboot itself every few minutes.
Holding the power button (or all buttons together) reboots it back into download mode to repeat what I just described above.
Pressing any/all buttons at this point does nothing.
When I disconnect the USB Cable from the device while in Download Mode, the device shuts off after about 20 seconds.
I have seen this on occasion, but nothing different happens:
(I'm aware this means forced download mode.)

I'm able to use Odin completely normally and flash anything successfully as well. Yet it just reboots back into download mode. And if I leave it alone while connected to my PC with Odin up, this is what it looks like:
I've "successfully" installed Stock ROM, Kernel and PIT files. Nothing changes! I've also tried one-click unsoftbricker, heimdal, calling it names, begging it to work. Am I crazy or...is this thing done for?
Have you tried repartitioning it?
By clicking that check box in Odin? Yes.
Ah, you must've hardbricked your Galaxy.

You need to flash a ROM that has boot loaders in it...
When you use the unbrickable resurector, it flashes a boot loader that always boots to download mode. From download mode, you can flash a FULL rom, that will replace the boot loader. Then it will boot normally.

Thanks, I've been suspecting hard brick. I've seen that thread before, it could really use some reorganizing. I can barely follow it.

That would make sense but which ROMs would those be?
This is a Russian ROM but it should have boot loaders.

Downloading now. I'll have to try it tomorrow on spare time. Really hoping this works. Thanks for giving me some hope, I really thought this thing was done for!
It's not hard bricked... that ROM will restore it. But after you flash that rom , you'll need to flash a different Rom for your region...

I never even heard of a "Full" ROM before. The problem I was having was apparently my bootloader - or lack-there-of.
You saved my Galaxy Player's life! Thank you very much!
I'm happy to say that this case is closed!
I am going to favorite this thread. You never know when you'll need some good info like this.
Ironically, my GP just managed to softbrick -_- I may be f'd.
Edit: Thankfully, I managed to fix it. Whew!
Hello, I have a little question, recently a friend told me if I can fix his i9100, cause "it remains at logo"
My surprise was that the phone doesnt even charge, when I plug it to the power, a battery that aparently is loading apears, for 2 segs, and then the screen turn off, and then the battery icon agains, and remains in a infinite loop but wont charge
Someone have this problem and knows how to repair it? I wish the problem isnt hardware :/

Thank you very much for your answer, it makes me happy that possibly the problem has a fix, but, please, can you link me the fix, i searched before (maybe i didn't search properly) but I didn't found it, please help me, thanks in advance!
You will have to reflash a stock rom using ODIN. Don't worry because there are many guides over the internet. Guide: http://mobilenetworkcomparison.org.uk/tutorials/how-to-restore-the-stock-samsung-galaxy-s2-rom/
Make sure you download the rom for the correct version of phone!
Once you've flashed stock rom, make sure to factory reset and wipe cache partition. (note: don't do this if you are going to flash ics because this might hard brick your device)

Hello everyone, i have hard bricked my PhonePad Duo S7 / ppxs7 (MT6737) while installing firmware update by accidentally unhooking the cable. I am wondering if anyone can help me fix this issue. The phone hardware is all in good condition but the software seems to be completely wrecked, the phone doesn't start at all no matter what combination of buttons and how long i hold it. I tried to flash it again, to no avail because my PC doesn't recognize the phone anymore. I tried to charge it and it didn't do anything either. When i connect the phone to the PC i hear the connection sound and a warning pops up "device not recognized", you can see it in the image i attached below ( also image of what it looks like now in device manager ). I am confident there is a way to fix this, i just need to find a way to make it recognizable once more. Ive sent an email to the manufacturer as well but i hope i might in the meanwhile find a solution as they are not guaranteed to respond, i do not have warranty on this phone. I would be extremely super thankful to any input related to my case.

As long the the hardware is not damaged, it is recoverable. First, are you unchecking preloader when flashing? If still it doesn't work., then keep phone charging overnight to see if you get a response. Other than that, you might have to get your motherboard replaced. :good:

I had similar soft brick problem with MTK tablet. Generally you need to remove battery (or unplug the battery connector) and install (plug) it back. If your battery has soldered wires you need to unsolder Vcc (usually red) wire and solder it back after a while (like a couple minutes after). If your battery is not able to remove/unsolder/unplug your only solution is discharge the battery and it can takes a long time.
Hi all ! Mods please move the thread if its wrong place, excuse my inexperience
I have an old phone made in 2014 , LG-P705 . Recently i have realized i had much much important files in it .
Whatever.. The problem is the phone's screen was cracked completely tried to fix it , bought a screen from chinese market then i gave up on it in 2014.
So we have a phone that LCD screen won't work at all. But the motherboard has not taken any damage. I charged the phone and it is alive. It vibrates when i turn it on and off .
i want to boot this phone and take the important files out. Is there any possible ways that we could start it guys ?
I have some ideas but not enough knowledge nor i am geeky about this stuffs. I think we could do a kind of a "mirror" between the Computer and the phone so that we will be able to see the files from the computer. Will it work ? Will we be able to see the files in it from the pc without using the screen ?
I am open to ideas. I need some geeks around here
.

Do you have a custom recovery installed on it? There's a chance it has mtp enabled. If you're in luck, starting it in recovery mode will have your phone boot up in an USB connectable mode. So if you can hold volume down + power, give that a try, wait a minute for it to boot in recovery and try connecting it with a USB cable. It's worth a shot.

Thanks for your reply.
Yes i probably do have custom recovery installed . I poked up with it at the time it probably has custom Rom and that android interface which lets you to get into the othercustom roms. So yeah.
I am currently using an iPhone ever since, So the current android charger is partly broken i must hold it upwards until it function properly. I will update it when i get a new charger . I may order some touchscreen plus LCD if i could find .

An iWhat? Never heard of it. Must be some fake knockoff [emoji16]
Oh and if it doesn't have mtp enabled but you can access ADB (check with 'adb devices'), this command should work:
Code:
adb shell svc usb setFunctions mtp
If not, you could probably pull files manually. I'm not sure if it works on folders but it would look like something like this:
Code:
adb pull /storage/emulated/0/DCIM
Path could be a lot of things like /sdcard, /mnt/0, /mnt/sdcard, etc.

The V10 was a flagship with known bootloop & heat issues. LG extended it's warranty by 2yrs. Try https://duckduckgo.com/?q=xda unbrick v10
ok thanks let me check it out
It is a really neat phone. Mine still works.
Try clearing Davik, etc, caches.
Try pulling the battery, then holding the power button down for a few.
Try another charger and cord.
If all else fails, it might like to visit the inside of your freezer for a few min.
Anyways, dont worry it to hard. $10-$30 ones can be easily gotten on ebay.

tried the link but could not find any solution, and i cant clear cache even if the phone was on because i had booted in to recovery but there were no cammmands, and it does not boot into fastboot mode.and i am in cameroon so ebay is not an option.this phone is realy giving me a headache and right now i am not in the position to buy a new PHONE NOW.if only i had access to a box that would make things easier .there is also one thing i noticed when i disassembled the phone it written on the board F600L__EAX66751701_1.1_MAIN. I THINK THIS MEANS I ACTUALLY HAVE BUT AN F600L AND NOT F600S.BUT THEN ON LGUP IT SHOWED F600S
Once mine was updated by LG repair(vs990), LG up could not overwrite it or roll it back.
I think all other variants could be rolled back via workarounds which can be all found here within xda.
If I remember correctly it had to be plugged into a pc(?), While power button(+ volume up(?)) was held down to enter certian menus.
There is apps out now which can send it adb commands via wifi ip or bluetooth. Easy Fire Tools is one.
Often their charge ports would go bad due to a weak soder. The batteries often failed from heat. You mentioned heat.
It sounds like you may have used a wrong update file meant for a different board/variant.
