Just upgraded from a T-Mobile V40 phone to a new T-Mobile V60 phone. My old V40 had a really nice font named "HYLavender" that was downloaded from LG SmartWorld site. It is no longer available to be downloaded to my new V60. LG SmartWorld told me they can't support my request even under paid.
Some research showed that Fonts for LG are downloaded as a hidden APK from SmartWorld and installed on your phone. You cannot use 3rd party fonts like TT or via an app like iFonts.
I found a way to export installed fonts from my V40 to the new V60. Use a File Manager App that can "backup" an installed App into a APK. I used my favorite File Manger+ App but there are others.
Search the installed Apps on your phone with the File Manager. I easily found my desired Font and created a backup APK file. Transferred this APK file into my ne V60 and installed it. Got back my favorite Font on my new V60 phone.
Might be useful information for someone.
Which app did you use to create APK? Know of a place to download font APKs?

Where are the "hidden APK files" located? Do I need root? (I hope not)
Please post a file path.
Thanks

I used that SD card method to root (apparently) my 8GB NT.
I got android market/google play, etc. and changed my N button to show a different home page, so I guess it is rooted, right?
Anyway, I have a bunch of APKs I want to install, so I copied them over to my NT but when I go into the download folder and click on them it says that the Nook can't read that type of file or something...so I can't install the packages.
One way I read that it can be done is to email the APKs as attachments and then install them through gMail. That actually worked for the smaller APKs, but for larger ones that can't be attached to email, I'm stuck.
Is there another program I need to use to open the APKs to install them or something? I did get the box checked to allow installation of 3rd party apps, but I just don't know how to install them on this thing. On my other tablet (Viewsonic gTab) I just copied them over to the SD card and then used file manager and clicked on them...not so here.
Thanks,
P
File manager
You might try using a different file manager, because it sounds like whichever file manager you are using on the NT isn't starting the apk installer.
If you've got the Play store, downloading one should be easy. I know Astro is a fairly popular one.
I rooted my 8GB, and never got any APK's to side load. I took mine back, bought the 16Gb, and have been happy with it (CM7). Outside of root I don't think you can do much more with the 8GB version.
New File Manager Fixed Problem
I downloaded Astro, which looked nice but for some reason wouldn't work for me. It showed all of the APK files I put on my microSD, but when I clicked on them it did nothing...
So I downloaded another file manager...EX something I think? And it works perfectly. It shows the folders, I go in and tap on the APP or GAME icon for the APK, and it prompts me to install it, etc.
So, for anyone unsure, the 8GB NT is able to be side loaded with any APK that the 16GB is able to load...maybe it is a bit harder or more complicated, but it can still easily be done if you have the right programs on there.
I'll start a thread with exactly what I did and what I needed to load if it would be helpful.

Hello,
I am trying to edit some graphic files inside APK so that after installing them on my S3 and pairing with my smartwatch it will display the same icons I'm using on my phone. To do that I used tools like app backup/titanium, then I transfer them to my PC. I use WinRAR to open APK, I use Photoshop to edit files I need, and then I put changed files back to APK, replacing them. Now, if I stop here the APK won't install on my device. Therefore I use APK Sign app that 'signs' the .apk . Sometimes the produced files install without problem, and sometimes I immediatly get an error message Unfortunately, Package installer has stopped.. Why does it stop? It works with some APK I edit (free or paid) but not with all of them. Please help!
Open the original apk with win rar and then copy the files that you edited this works
Sent from my Xperia Live with Walkman using xda app-developers app
it does - but not for all the apps i'm trying. for example third party apps works after changing icons, and the ones from sony (downloaded for free from play store) does not. it just doesn't install.
I deleted the clock and weather apk of our device believing not to need them any longer. Now I´ve got the quick window case and I do need them again. Could someone pls send me the .apk files, cause I haven´t got a backup of them. There is a thread at the G2 forum that has all the stock apps to download but those don´t work at my device (uninstallable). Best way perhaps is using apk extractor thx.
Push them to /system/priv-app/ , don't install them via the normal android app installer.

installer
I pushed the apk and odex into systems priv-app problem is the installer. i´ve got root, es file explorer with root permissions, busybox... and i tried out "system apps installer" and others but the app isn´t installable. Doesn´t it fit cause its out of the g2 not g2 mini?
Hi
There is a watchface that i put in my favs and the creator has been asked to adjust the branding on it (probably someone complained). This update didnt affect the watch face for me somehow, now i am switching phones and the update is in effect on the new device.
When i sync the gear s3 back to the old device, still use the original watchface.
So my assumption is the watchface is stored on my phone (somewhere, somehow)
Does anyone know where to look? I downloaded ES File Explorer and tried going thru the app apk, and the app folder under android>data>com.jeremysteckling.face : not sure where to look in the apk cant find any *.face files and the folder (just says "empty").
Appreciate any help :fingers-crossed:
megahead
I have a rooted TWRP Android.
I want to see files modified by time, including the most recently update.
The Root Explorer search doesn't seem to be able to do this. Any ideas or recommdations on an app or apk to use ?
Thanks
