Hi,
Just got a Mi Box S as a Christmas present. Nice little Android TV box - I'm happy with it. Now I am interested on hooking it to my smart home system. Do you know any projects where someone has done this. My smart home system is OSS/Rasberry Pi -based, but I'm flexible to extend/modify it to get Mi Box integrated. Any ideas.
Thx

Im sure this has come up before but here goes... Logitech has a Harmony LInk which is, for lack of a better description, pretty bad-ass... The software for the Android Phones (2.2x+) is mediocre at best. Also the Link does not support 3.0+ for Tablets yet...
Since the technology is THERE can we write custom app software to interface w/ this thing instead of waiting for Logitech to come out with something??
Just reviving this as I'm interested as well. I can develop the app, but I was wondering if anyone is working on it. I'm not a wiz at the embedded OS stuff so if there's a reverse engineered os for the Harmony Link or a way to iptables forward myharmony.com to a local custom server that improves it I'm all for it.
Personally I'm fine with the app functions. I'd just want to rewrite it so that A) it remembers my link so that it's not having to reconnect all the time and B) Holoizing it.
Seriously, the wife asks me to mute the tv and it takes a good 15 seconds for the app to connect. I'd like to turn it into a service that always stays connected with an exit button.
Logitech Harmony Link Mods
I received my Harmony Link Thursday and downloaded the app, I think it's 1.6.5 now.
It works fine on Kit Kat and 4.0. I'm running it on two tablets and my Nexus 4.
I wasn't happy with the GUI so I decompiled it and I've been improving it. My main issue is the small number of icons on each page. The favorite channel page is three across by four down. Mine now shoes five across, six is a bit crowded and who has more than 24 favorites anyway.
I'm trying to increase the button count on the remote page since it's also 3x4, NOT enough buttons for me. I haven't figure out where the program stores this layout yet, but I'm working on it.
I can share the apk file if anyone needs it, send me a PM.
I bought my sister an M8 media box with Kodi on it which uses the UsellIsell loader.
She is 63 and finds the UsellIsell interface confusing (frankly so do I).
As she already owns a nexus 5 and Nexus 10 tablet she is comfortable with a standard Android interface.
When I contact UsellIselli on how to get a pure Android interface on there again they were less than helpfull.
They said just uninstall the app through app settings.
I did that and did a factory reset but their startup screen and interface remain.
How can I get this device back to a standard android device so I can reinstall Kodi and set it up for her?
I'm not familiar with the android environment but do posses windows skills. So please be a bit specific.
regards
Erick
Hi, I bought a cheap tablet on aliexpress, a bmxc brand. It has good specs and works fine. My Father is 93 and has nearly lost his eyesight. I want to give him the tablet so he can use google talkback and do things with it e.g. play music. As he is 500 miles away I want to be able to control it remotely to help him with it. I have tried quite a few things and nothing works, MS remote desktop doesn't work, airdroid doesn't work. Teamviewer doesn't work because there is no "quick support" app for my particular tablet.
I'm a programmer but have never done any Android development. Does anyone have any idea of what it would take to write a Teamviewer quick support app for my tablet?
Also does anyone know if Android has any generic way of programmatically generating a mouse click/ finger press on a screen. It seems like it doesn't otherwise there wouldn't be any need for a device specific quick support app for Teamviewer.
Hi,
I have a Mi Box (official Android TV) with 7.0 Nougat Beta 1028.
I'm trying my best to figure out a way to run a Tasker task before the device turns off/goes to sleep. The reason I want to do this is that I have a Harmony Hub which I need to run the Power off activity when the Mi Box turns off via the original Mi Box remote. I have setup Tasker to run a Harmony Activity when the device turns on, and this works great. But I am not able to make Tasker run an activity before it turns off.
I have tried two different approaches, first via Tasker. Created a profile, which when the Display state is Off, it should run the Harmony Hub Power off activity. This works maybe 1 of 10 times. So not reliable.
The next approach which I think would be the best is to remap the power button on the remote. I found this application: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton&hl=sv
This application lets me remap every button on the remote except the Power button. So that is my problem, if it would let me remap the button, I could set it to run the Task and the Mi Box would power off also (as it is included in the Harmony activity).
From what I understand the Mi Box beta 1028 is possible to root, to access the system files, but no SuperSU support or anything. So is there any file I could edit, to remap the button this way? Or maybe if there is some systemfile I could put somewhere to run before the device goes to sleep?
I'm pretty much stuck right now and I would love to get this to work. It would allow me to use the Mi Box remote which I love, but not loose any functionality from the Harmony Hub.
Please help me with this! Thank you!
Hi Guys, i'm coming straight from Huawei, now to OnePlus 7T Pro. I expierenced a poor Performance on Notifications. I was a long term iPhone user and i can say on iOS i don't had this problems. Now with my second android device in a row.
It's kind of confusing why Google can't handle this problem.
Anyone has a Pixel Device and can share his experiance with it? It's really kind of anoying that you won't get any notifications until you unlock your Screen / Device.
For example if you sell something on ebay you won't get notification about the Auction till you manually open the app. Then the notifications rush in with the bids on the item.
Also i expierenced the same issue with the Calender App. On iPhone you will get a notification exactly as planed. On Android Devices i really have to manually unlock the phone, just to experience that i missed an appointment.
I will not say that iOS is better, but it looks like Apple can handle they'r Power Management way better than Google.
I have the same problem now with OnePlus as i had with Huawei the Huawei was the Mate 20 Pro with Android 9 and the OnePlus 7T Pro comes with Android 10.
Do i have to change something inside the Device / Power Management to get my Notifications back ? What do i wrong?
