L1 widevine ROG 3 restore - ASUS ROG Phone 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello everyone I have managed to create a patch for Rog 3 L3 widevine issue and after this you will be able to enjoy L1 again without bootloader relock or any data loss. credits @hkr121 and @danibash on telegram.
Things needed.
BootLoader unlocked
Root access is needed.
An Rog 3 with L3. Firmware should be WW(global) .131
Extract the attached zip to desired location and install MT-Manager .
Then open MT-Manager and grant root access. After this go to the extracted folder and run 1.sh the device will restart after this open mt manager again and execute 2.sh the device will reboot again and L1 should be restored if done correctly.

first need SELinux switch to permissive
dir L3-L1 move /data/
1.sh and 2.sh chmod +x

it does not need to be in / data/ it can be anywhere

don't executing *.sh from internal storage

mt manager takes care of it

mate can we activate L3 without the fan?

Will this work on other Zenfone models? If not, is there any way to make a similar fix for them?

this L3 is refering to your device security level or whatever that detects if your bootloader is unlocked or not. it by being in L1, it allows you to use your phone like it is not rooted/has bootloader unlocked.

Although i have already addressed that what you are saying isnt related to what we mean by L1 and L3, but if you want L3 on xmode try plugging the fan, set to l3 and force stop armory crate. Then turn the phone off, take the fan out and tuen the phone on again and check if its on l3. For me there is a bug to where if i plug the fan, set l3 and force quit, take the fan off and rerun armory crate, it stays on l3. It also seams to be on l3 cuz the gpu seams to be running fast.

What will i need to backup just in case. I have tried this on .172band it works but i just did a fresh restore ciz i didnt backup for my kernel so thats why im asking

If you don't mind telling me, what process is the one required so that the phone recognizes SIMS from other companies? Flashing? Sorry for the amateur question.
I have no idea. There isn't anything to flash. No roms, no kernels, no recoveries no nothing. There appears to be zero interest in this variant by the dev community.

Thanks for the information fellas. So basically we have to wait until someone with the knowledge can extract those files (Roms, kernels, recoveries).
By some of the comments i've seen here, i get the impression that only the high-end phones are the ones that the community gets behind? How unfortunate if true.
By the way i saw in a different post someone uploaded a Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/grand-prime/development/rom-download-sm-s920l-straight-talk-usa-t3265004/page2
Yes, and that ROM will turn your Grand Prime into a Core Prime (Franken Prime) with lots of things not working. There are no stock roms available for this variant.

[Root] J320A/J320AZ alternate method, without Kingroot!!

**does not yet work for 7.1.1**
Using a PC to root seems like moving backwards compaired to a 'one click' apk. but we're already at the PC to flash eng_boot, plus this new method is so much faster...so here we go
Features:
SuperSU 2.82
Init.d
Wifi fix
Flashlight fix
Issues:
For the wifi fix I just copied an edited J320a build.prop
So J320AZ users will see J320A in about device, and will have to reassign notification sounds. (Hope to fix it in the future)
Needed Files:
Odin
Root_J320A.zip
Procedure:
1. Unzip both files.
2. Run Odin click the 'AP' button.
3. Navigate to Root_J320A/bin and select sm-j320a_Engroot_601PJ2.tar and press "Start" (make sure NOT to check re-partition)
4. After it completes sucessfully, leave the phone hooked to the pc... and then wait, wait a good 2 or 3 minutes after its booted.
5. Once 2 or 3 minutes has gone by you can navigate to the Root_J320A folder.
6. There you'll see root.bat, double click that let it do its thing.
6a. If at any time during the script you see "adb out of date. killing..." hit the x to close the window and restart the script.
*This may work on J320AG models but make sure you check oem unlock from dev settings first... and let us know how it goes
Enjoy

I tested on AQD2 so it'll work on AQC1 too.
I assume it'll work for all 6.0 updates we get.

I suggest you put 'root' in the tile, otherwise google cannot find it.
I googled 'j320a root', google only links to ashyx's post which doesn't... well maybe only mine phone.
I am new to this root bit.
Possibly I have done something wrong. I read your instructions carefully and quit didn't understand where the unzipped files should go. Do any of these have to be placed in the phone's directory?
Failed on my AT&T SM-J320A
I wonder if it has anything to do with the new update pushed out recently
@JeffF73
Run Odin and Click ap.
Navigate to the directory where you unzipped root_j320a.zip.
In that folder you'll see a bin folder, inside that is sm-j320a_Engroot_601PJ2.tar, which needs flashed to the phone.
Once that's complete, let it boot and wait.
Then run root.bat

Hello DamienMc Thank you for your reply and help. I figured it out. I had to put my phone in "Download Mode" by holding down Volume Down, Home Button and Power button while booting. Then I was able to use Odin without failing. This solved all my problems thank you

Yes, that has selinux set to permissive as well, although there's no real difference. The build.prop differences are noticable tho...I plan on doing an update to this, just have to figure out how to tell if it's A or AZ from adb

Yes, it works for QC1. However, you may need to replace build.prop in /bin from QC1 with WiFi fix before root.
I did notice that after root, the contents of /Android/data folders in both internal storage and external sd card are hidden from PC. Before root, both are visible from PC. Any thoughts about what cause the changes?
Will this work on July security patch?

Probably the eng_boot we use, it breaks the flashlight and wifi passwords too... it does work on j320a July update, so I assume it'll work on j320az update too

Reflash CSC as well, that'll wipe your device but fix your problem.
Are you sure you waited long enough after the phone booted before rooting?
If at any time during the script you see it say "adb server out of date. Killing..." something is wrong. You can x the command prompt and do root.bat again.

This was the first time i ever tried to root my phone and i followed the instructions located here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j3-2016/how-to/root-samsung-sm-j320a-galaxy-express-t3573628
Well my wifi wouldnt save any passwords , flashlight was broken and my ATT J320A would always want to boot in to recovery mode. I thought i was screwed!!!! Then i seen one link in the thread to this thread where Kingroot was not needed.
I opened Odin and gave a shot and then ran Root.bat file, and the device rebooted wifi and flashlight were fixed and best of all my J3 was now rooted!!!!!
Still working on getting rid of that annoying pop up but all is good, thanks so much for this root and fix from the other thread.

@james2ya If you are talking about the pop that either says something in the order of "Unathorized activities where made" go to the play store, download and install SecurityLogAgent Fix, Open it up and click "Disable Securitylogagent" then restart phone when it asks. This should help get rid of that popup.

Is there a way to install a custom Keylayout file without Root and locked Bootloader?

So I recently got the idea of playing games on my Huawei P20 lite. I sucessfully connected my controller (Nintendo Switch Pro Controller) over bluetooth and then i tried multiple games without sucess. The controller itself gets recognized but the button layout is completely wrong and the right stick doesn't gets recognized, even not with retroarch. So I made a custom Keylayout file but I can't push it into the system directory. Is there a way to install it or get it into the system directory without rooting and without unlocking the Bootloader?
I'm running EMUI 9.1.0.306 and I'm having the ANE-LX1 Model.

It won't be easy without root... On Emui 9.1. the system and vendor partition does not go in r/w mode due to the new filesystem called EROFS (Extendable Read-Only File System).
Try ADB & "SetEdit" application by "4A":

I don't know exactly what to do here.

LG Tmobile V60 update to A11 no access System files they're hidden (data and obb) do I need to root or -R-A-S-H folder?

My phone updated from A10 to A11. There are no PS utility tools to reverse the hidden files attribute inside the directory folders. Yes I recently had full access with A10 not with A11 OS and my USB is refusing my flash drive access. My phone is OTG but the A11 option switch is now gone bye-bye. If I wanted less accessibility to my phone I would have brought a damn iPhone.

Sony Xperia V & S get snapchat to work. Need to be android 4.4 or higher.

Is there anyway to get Snapchat to work on these phones? I know there has to be android version 4.4. I think i have 4.3 in my Sony Xperia V. I also know there is a problem with snapchat locking rooted devices so this can be a problem. Is there any official releases that can handle snapchat?
I have Windows 8.1 does it works the same? https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...y-xperia-s-stock-to-android-8-1-oreo.4222141/
I think i go for Android 7.1.2/nAOSP instead of Oreo. Something tells me Oreo will gets to laggy.
I got to: Seems like me phone is Desimlocked. How to easy lock it up. It stand 5 after all, i guess 5 attemps
5) MAKE SURE PHONE IS NOT SIMLOCKED
We need to check phone is not SIMlocked.
Open dialer, enter code again
Code:
*#*#7378423#*#*
Go to Service info > SIM lock. If everything is blank/unchecked ( [] ), phone is Desimlocked.
If not, you must contact your network provider for an unlock code.
### Don't move further until phone is simlocked. You cannot debrand/desimlock it using a custom ROM.
Should i copy the Android 7.1.2/nAOSP rar to the flash folder?
In Windows, copy the path to the "flash" folder you unziped earlier.
Open a Windows command prompt : Start menu > Command prompt > Start as administrator
Then type
What to type cd /d thePathToFlashFolder should cd be the moved files to d? destination?
I guess even if i get it to work snapchat will detect my rooted phone?
I have it like this C:\root\djibe\flash what path should i move to this folder the oreo 8.1?

Correct.
Snapchat is performing a few tests and if at least one of them is positive, the application kills itself when Superuser is found in the system.
I know some xposed modules can prevent that. I guess you cannot root the phone and install custom rom and then unroot?

Great you know this.
IMO it's a widespread misconception that a rooted Android can be hidden to apps: don't think the developers of banking / payment / other apps are dumber than then people who root their device's Android, this due to fact that all rooting methods ( e.g. SuperSu, MagiskSU, KernelSU, MTK-SU ) are based on open-source-code which everybody can look into to find out how Android gets rooted, i.e. where to search in filessystem for the SU-binary.
Thanks, so it is very hard to use snapchat on rooted phones? I need that so then a custom rom can't be so good for me. Official releases can be installed without rooting?
FYI:
Latest Snapchat v12.32.0.35 ( April 26, 2023 ) only runs on Android 5.0 and up.
