My battery started to drain fast few days ago, i thought it was a software issue(some apps). Yesterday i put it on the charger, as i didnt put it, nothing happend, i thought my charger broke, i put it on PC, same, wont charge, now im thinking the connector broke, u put USB OTG memory stick and it reads it normally, so the port is working, tryed factory reset and reflashing offical stock rom, problem isnt solved, also when the phone is in download mode on charger or pc, and i take out the battery the phone stays on, it takes power directly from the charger(this is normal), witch i think confirms its a battery problem, not a phone. Now, anyone faced this problem also? Have expirience whit this, any advice what should i do (im gona try with new battery but its a weekend, no stores working). Any help, any chance its really a battery problem, not a phone?
EDIT: Also when the battery is in, phone off, put it on charger, the empty battery shows, the grey curcle arrow rolls (battery stats are read), then it shows the battery level for a second, and the circles bellow it instead of zooming in and out in movement, it stays at the first for a seccond and then the display turns off, nothing, no red light also.

I hope you are right, i had that problem before, and replaced it, after then im extremely careful and gentle, so i think there are very low chances that thats the problem, i will take it to service later today, its still under warranty
Its probably a faulty battery
I had a faulty cable and man it was horrible
I was on vacations so no shops around, the phone would constantly show charger connected/disconnected and would take ages to charge
Ok so I wanted to upgrade from Jellybean to KitKat today, with Bam-Rom.
I am preatty familiar with flashing roms. But I somehow got my phone to keep on rebooting. I wanted the battery to die, so I guesed I would leave it there drain and then replace the battery (I've got 3). After the phone "died" I replaced the battery and tried to open it. But nothing happens!!!
I've tried all of my 3 batteries, plugging in the cable, tried to boot into recovery and download mode. Nothing happens!
Is it possible that from the multyple reboots (about 15 min maybe) the CPU overheated and got burned?? Is there something I can do to check?
Any advice very much apreciated!!
Charge the battery for half an hour and try again
Done, nothing happens, pluging the cable dosent do anything. However I have an external charger so I know it is charging correctly. Also while I charge with cable nothing happens but the back of the phone get heated so I know the battery is charging that way too
I have opened the phone nothing seems to be burned or damaged what so ever
Replace motherboard. As to exactly what's dead on the board, unless you know how to work with electronics like that/how to diagnose problems (with gear like a multimeter), you're not going to be able to figure out exactly what died. And even if you could, it's irrelevant. You're still replacing the board if you want to fix it.
Hello
Yesterday my phone randomly shutdown. After that I werent able to turn it on even after wiping everything and reinstalling the rom. When I came back home i flashed the official firmware with odin and it didn't work as well. Then I managed to turn it on successfully while it was plugged to a charger. I managed to observe that when I normally turn it on it starts only plugged to a charger and turns off after cuople of seconds. This doesn't happen when I enter recovery mode or download mode - I can boot successfully up my device to these modes and it doesn't turn off without need to be plugged. What do you think happened to the device? Can it be fixed on the software level? If not how much do you think it would cost to fix this if it is a hardware issue?
up
Are you sure your battery is healthy?
Remove your battery and see if it has got any exapndings or swelling? Cause I had the same issue except after losing half of it charge it would suddenly turn my phone off like I'm removing my phone when it's still on!
The battery looks 100% normal. I'll check tomorrow with my friend's battery. But in recovery mode phone doesn't have any problems.
Any other ideas? Can it be anyhow software related? If so is there any option to fix this? What should i try?
Replace USB board/port; quick/cheap easy to do yourself. KeithRoss39 has a guide in General (not stickied, search for 'replace USB charger board' or similar) which has all the info you need to get it done.

But the phone does charge well. And it works on battery in recovery. It turn on normally only plugged into power source and the shutdown randomly. How could changing usb port could fix that issue?
Because USB board problems almost always (at least that's been the experience on here) manifest themselves by showing a few faults & working OK otherwise, rather than dying completely - you might be able to charge OK, you might not be able to transfer data all the time; you might be able to transfer data OK, you might get constant shutdowns which you can't explain by changing firmware & trying a new battery.
Everything you've said in this thread so far points to the USB board, and as this is an easy & cheap fix, if it was my phone, that's what I'd be replacing to try and fix it. Put it this way, given how cheap it is (around US$10-$15), if this doesn't fix it, then you'll know there's probably something more major hardware-wise going on. I wouldn't be taking it to a mobile repair shop to have this done though, as obviously they'll probably charge you a crapload in labour to replace a $10 part. Save that for if changing the board doesn't work.
Thanks for your effort. The problem is I don't think i can do it myself. I don't want to spend much money on this phone cause it is quite old. That is why I kind of don't what to do now
hello,
i bought pretty beat up i9100 (it wasnt charging, i fixed it by replacing usb port in it). phone works now, but the battery acts weird, it discharges way too fast and charges way too slow, sometimes its discharging even if its connected to charger and it skips percentages. it doesnt generate too much heat. battery calibrations, apps that monitor battery usage and other crap didnt help and im running fresh and clean cm12 on it, and there is yellow triangle in boot animation (that might indicate some trouble). according to some internet tutorials i found i9100 is susceptible to short circuits and they indicate that soldering some ic on main board might fix it, but before i do something im probably going to regret i'd like to ask here how could i prove its really shorted and that the problem doesnt lie somewhere else. according to previous owner battery should be okay and phone was behaving the same even with completely new battery.
when i insert charger phone doesnt recognize its charging for about 10 secs and when i disconnect charger phone keeps showing its still charging for about a minute after disconnecting it.
many thanks for any help and/or suggestions.
