Hi there,
another thread about a dying phone. Maybe someone has had a similiar issue.
Until yesterday everything worked fine. Then the phone randomly turned off and wouldnt boot again. Later that night, when I tried again to turn it on it worked normally again for like an hour before shutting off again.
The next morning I tried to turn it on and everthing seems to be fine again. Works normally for like 8 hours before dying again.
And since then it didnt turn on again.
The weird thing is though that when connecting it to a charger the red LED blinks twice and the green charging icon appears for a second before looping this process.
I tried getting into system recovery while connected to a PC but same behaviour. It shows the white recovery screen for a second before turning off again.
Does anybody have an idea what might be causing this?
Thanks
EDIT: Apparently the battery was dead. A new battery solved the issue!
Here is a video of it trying to get into system recovery:

So I'm having a really strange problem, and it seems like the phone is completely dead. This may be unrelated, but about 5 or so days ago, my camera stopped working, and in the week before the failure, it would make a clicking noise whenever I used it. Last night however, I woke up to my phone rebooting itself over and over. I didn't know what the problem was, and didn't want to deal with it, so I pulled the battery out (not while it was booting). This morning, when I woke up I could not get the phone to turn back on. I tried two different batteries, tried each alone, and each plugged in to AC as well. No response from the power button at all, nothing on the screen, no green LED flash, nothing. Heres the odd part: If I take the battery out, and plug it in to my PC, the green LED turns on, yet, the power button still does nothing.

same thing with my phone.. been looking for answers.. but nothing... did you find solution for this??
JSo one time about a month ago my battery completely died while I was using it at 4%. That's normal. I charged it up and turned it onwhile charging. On bootup, the red notification led came on indicating it was charging. Also normal. It booted successfully and I haven't had anything strange happen.
But after booting to recovery a while later , the red LED came on, and then the splash showed up. However, I wasn't plugged into a charger! Now every time I reboot or go to recovery, this happens. When I go into bootloader, its on all the time. Its just a minor inconvience but has got me wondering why it does that.
I'm guessing this is a bootloader issue. However, I would like insight from others as to what could possibly be happening. Thanks
Edit: just now: After flashing TWRP 2.0.0RC0, this stopped happening. Maybe hboot just needed a good flashing? Wondering if anyone has an explanation.

Hello!
I have this problem with my s2.. I was browsing for my joy when suddenly the screen flashed couple times and my phone suddenly shut down (when battery was about 70%).
I already had this kind of problem but last time it was the battery (it swelled) but i replaced the battery and for a month or so everything was fine.
now with no warning it happened again!
I checked the battery its fine...
now when I boot my phone up it stays up for a minute or so and freeze or shutting down..
and also the signal icon shows that there's no signal!!
when its off and plugged to the charger its all fine looks like charging...
sometimes when it shows the samsung logo on boot I can see the the lights on the back button and menu button flickering and then shutting down.
I didnt download anything new in the past week..
did anyone here had this kind of problem? how can I fix it?
PLEASE help me I was at a job interview and they should call me today !! T_______T

ROM?Kernel?Did you try Factory reset or flashing stock ROM?
Are you using a genuine s2 battery or it's just a generic one?
It's a generic, isn't it?
Sent from the little guy
I did hard reset, now running Samsung's original ROM and stock kernel..
the battery is original..
somehow everything is now fine.. but I don't think that this is a normal problem.. it really freaked me out today.. I wanna know if any one knows what its all about and how to prevent it from happening.. thank you very much
Been running the GPE ROM flawlessly since I flashed on the 12th... Until today. Don't know if this is ROM related but maybe you guys can help.
Out of nowhere, my phone kept shutting off. Couldn't use it for more than a minute after booting before it would turn off completely. Battery was charged so I was kind of like 'wtf'. Then all of a sudden it wouldn't even get to the swirling colors boot screen. It would shut off halfway though the Samsung Custom logo. ****.
Tried plugging it in and pulling the battery multiple times. I can't even boot to recovery! The blue text shows in the upper left but then it will go off again. It's plugged in now but not showing the battery charging screen.
I can only get it to turn on for about a second. Am I ****ed? Is this thing bricked? Super random because I changed NOTHING this morning and it was fine yesterday.

It could be a power button failure, it's actually quite common on the S4.

Hi all,
I have recently noticed when charging my phone during the night that it seemingly randomly turns on the screen, goes bright and then shows the boot logo. After a few seconds it then shows the lock screen where I can enter my pin. It doesn't seem to actually reboot.
Does anyone have an idea about what is going on? Is it faulty, do I have a virus or something else maybe?
Thanks
Hi.
I have exactly the same issue.
Today I woke up and at the same time my phone was "rebooting" and ended up in lock screen, keyboard was showing.
And the phone had been on wall charger all the night.
It is really weird and I think it started to happen after the latest updates.
1- don't leave anything charging over night. The phone will get little charges to the battery to confirm it's 100%, thus reducing battery life. You may Google it.
2- have you updated without factory reset? If so, backup with native app and do it. Most problems disappear.
