I need help with Wear OS and Lg G W100 watch - Wear OS Software and Hacking General

Hi,
I have the LG G W100 watch. I'm using the latest Wear OS on my cell, and I can't update all the watch faces. I did research and found out I may need an older version of Wear OS. I want to install it on my old Samsung Galaxy player 5.0. It's using an older android version, gingerbread. I'm not very familiar with android hacking or troubleshooting.
Basically, I need an older .apk for Wear OS, that I can install on the Samsung Galaxy player 5.0. I went to apkmirror.com, but there is so much crap there, I can't seem to know how/what to download, let alone know how to install it. I know with .apk, you just press it, and it goes thru the install process. I tried doing that but I got an error. So I don't know if I downloaded the correct .apk from the site, or some junk file that's part of the advertising of the website.
Can anyone help?
If that's not complicated enough, many years ago, I rooted the Galaxy player 5.0. So I don't know if that complicated the process.

Tell me the APK you need and I'll try helping.

[Q] Google Licensing on approved products

In my last post, I mentioned I purchased a Chines copy Iphone running Android 2.3 which is suffering the inability to download apps (stuck on download started). I contacted google and their response was :
Thanks for your message. According to our records, the device you're using isn't supported for use with Android Market at this time. For additional details, please see this complete list of supported devices:
http://source.android.com/compatibility/index.html
My previous device, a ZT 180 , Im sure was also not on this list but App store works fine.
My phone will sync with Gmail and Talk easy, I have wiped all caches.... what is the missing link with the App store recognising the phone is not compatible and how do I bridge it? Have tried downloading various vending and market apk's but none will succesfully install. Any ideas?
Even it is open source, the phone manufacturer also need to buy license from Google in order to run android os in their device. This applies on Android 2.3 and above. If you are running on a china made product, you probably won't get it work unless you do some trick to let it work.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
Thanks for that - Can I reflash back to 2.2? Is there a generic ROM to use for this?
Not sure how I would trick it....sounds like I would need to root it to do so.
Yes you would need to root it and flash a custom rom that makes it look like a different device.

[Q] Eliminating chinesses app from a STAR A3 (beginner level)

Hello all,
let me present my self as a beginner in the world of Android.
It has come an Star A3 to my hands, with Android 4.0 and among all great things of IceCream, few Chinese apps I want to get rid of
the phone is rooted (well, one headache less)
I have flash the recovery 592zn.com_recovery_Star_A3_MT6573.img with Mobileuncle tools (included in the mobile originally) and done a Boot/System/Data/Cache Nandroid backup
Apps I want to eliminate :
Baidu input (and add the standard input keyboard)
own Chinese launcher (I have already install LauncherPro, but I would love to get rid of the Chinese one completely)
UC xxxxx (some Chinese browser)
Root Explorer (Chinese version, to be able to install the English one)
ICS 4.0 (also Chinese version)
a Chinese flash-light
a Chinese dark/light switch screen
a Chinese version of the configuration menu
so, basically to keep a clean Android
so, where I have to look for help on how to do that ??
what short of help / tutorial am I looking for ?
I have installed:
http://www.ltr-data.se/opencode.html/#ImDisk
to be able to mount the nandroid img files in windows7-x64
but I can't see anything, it ask me to format the unit (?)
similar with Daemon Tools .
any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance.

My advice since you're rooted is install Titanium Backup and use it to uninstall everything you don't want. It's a root app that can get rid of virtually anything.
Seeing as you have a nandroid backup, in the unlikely case that the device won't boot at all without one or more of those apps, you can just restore the backup you have.

Star A3 for dummies
Hello
Ok I have searched for hours (as the video asked) and I cannot find an "android for dummies" guide. I dont know what a "root" is or what "titanium" is... so I may have found the correct forum - but I just don't understand it.
So the problem is this:
I bought a touch screen DualSim Android 2.3 GPS 3G MTK6573 Phone Star A3.
It arrived today BUT it has some chinese programmes on it (that I would like to clear) and I cannot seem to download any additional apps for it.
google.play wont work (apparently it doesnt support the device)
It has a few basic apps - but nothing wild or that I guess can't be re-downloaded again.
What would you recommend I do - do I wipe it and install something new or what. and if so please can someone explain it to me in small "for dummy" steps
I am not sure what else I need to tell you to give you abetter pic, but ideally I'd like this phone to work on the google apps system (or can you point me to where I can get similar apps)
On the "about phone" the
android version is 2.3.5
Kernel version is 2.6.35.7
I would really appreciate any help you can give me
Thanks
My first advice would be to try and achieve root on the phone. This should be relatively easy on a Chinese phone, most don't have great security.
Basically, "root" means to get increased permissions on the phone. There are certain files and actions on the phone that normally you can't do. With root, you can. Think of it as somewhat like logging into a computer as an Administrator rather than a standard user.
"getting root" basically means installing a hack to let apps on your phone do more than they could otherwise e.g. uninstall preinstalled apps.
To "root" your phone, you can use a tool like SuperOneClick or UnlockRoot. For both, you follow a few instructions, plug in your phone and click "Root" in the program, it'll work out the best way to do it for your phone and do it.
Once that is all done, there is a guide here for getting Google Apps (e.g. Play Store) working on unsupported devices: https://senk9.wordpress.com/2010/12...ogle-apps-gapps-on-your-android-device-phone/
Once you get Play Store working, Titanium Backup is an app you can install from there. Using root, it can uninstall any app you want.
Be careful with all this, if you're not you could break your phone.

Thank you so much! - and such a fast reply too!!!
I really apprecate your patience in explaining this all to me.
It sounds relatively straight forward - I will have a look at those progs and link you suggest tomorrow.
Obviously I dont want to break the phone either, then it would be more useless then it is already
Fingers crossed - will let you know how I get on.
Hi all,
Watched the video so I thought I would tag onto this thread instead of starting a new one.
Just bought a cheap star a3 dual sim android phone. This my foray into android phones and I am having some weird issues. Just a first note I have just rooted the phone but these issues where here before and after rooting. The A3 is a htc sensation clone i believe when my other half who has a htc desire tries to call the phone the phone goes straight into answer phone and rejects the call, she is on giff gaff in the uk and i have tried both a 3 network and orange sim and it happens on both. There is some weird chinese security software that I trying get remove but its seems very stubbon. Anyone any ideas. Ps battery life is awfull i only seem to get 6 hours from full to dead without hardly any use. Maybe I have loads running but unsure what I need to keep running.
Please help.
I have the star a3
Google play works perfectly. If you PM me, I am happy to send you the apk file for google play.
since you are rooted, I strongly suggest you get root explorer installed so you can go through and remove all the chinese apps.
Make sure you remove "himarket" its a big battery hog.
To the person who says their calls go straight to voicemail, remember this is a dual sim dual *standby* if you are using 2g or 3g cell data on one sim then the other sim cannot make or receive calls.
Also, there is no ICS for the Star A3, its just a skin on top of Gingerbread to make it look like ICS, if you go to settings, about phone and look, the version number will be 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 which means its gingerbread (if you really do have 4.0.1 ICS I would love to get a copy of the ROM for it!)

Allwinner A13/gs701b - Already rooted, on android 4.0.3, looking for an update

I have this fake china tablet, running android 4.0.3, but I would like to get an android version above 4.2.0, by any means, custom ROMs included, anything.
The tab looks like this: <electroniaychinas.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/new-q88-font-b-atm7013-b-font-have-hdmi-best-cheapest-7-inch-font-b-tablet.jpg>
So far, I managed to find its' firmware: <4shared.com/rar/-PVB60wZba/GS701B_ATM7013_Q8.html>
I found out how to root it, using MTK droid tools and this tutorial, including the files inside it (su, busybox, superuser.apk): <4shared.com/rar/_jWoAVtBce/gs701b-root.html>
My only purpose to this tablet is getting an app named "The World Of Magic" to work on it. @ <play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.com2us.imo.normal.freefull.google.global.android.common&hl=en>
The problem I'm getting with this game(The World Of Magic):
It installs correctly, from both the market and as an APK from the SD card.
The moment I try to run this application, it brings me to an uninstall prompt to this same application, which leaves me the only option to uninstall it.
Sometimes, if I agree to uninstall it, the tablet shows me a booting animation, as if I just turned it on (That could be a low battery issue, though).
Older versions of this application seem to load up, but not the newest, and the servers won't let me log in if I have an old version.
If anybody can only help me address this "uninstall" issue when starting the TWOM app, there won't be any need for looking for any updates for the android. I know, I should have messaged the developers of this game, and I did! Still waiting for a reply from them . I don't expect them to do anything, Com2us is famous for blocking their applications from being ran on computers, but I didn't expect older android versions not to be included in their game development.
Thanks in advance, but I guess I won't get much of a reply, because this device is old as hell. At least, I might have helped if anybody is looking for the firmware or how to root this thing.

Can I upgrade the Android on my X89 D5N3 Kindow?

I've got an X89 Kindow with Android 4.4 on it, and I was wondering if there was any way to bump it up to something more recent. I thought I'd found an updater, but it turned out to be nothing but an ad-spam app that only seemed to exist to show me advertisements.
Any advice?
Advice is don't use it. It comes with spyware installed. There are some tutorials around to delete the Android partitions and just use the space for Windows. Sorry dude, I have the same tablet.

Upgrading problems on Samsung P7510 tablet to Marshmallow

I'm trying to upgrade my Samsung p7510 10.1 tablet from Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 to either Marshmallow or Nougat, or better. I've installed TWRP 3.1.1 and rooted with SuperSu. I've had to assume root has worked as can't download root checker onto my tablet.
So, far I've managed to find a version of Marshmallow "ROM-STOCK_MMB29K-seed.zip" on androidfilehost.com. But when I try installing I keep getting error message "Updater process ended with signal: 4". I've wiped the Data, cleared the Cache and Dalvik Cache. Also searched the internet for info on the signal 4 problem but not found much other than to remove the "assert" line from the updater-script file in the OS zip.; that did nothing.
So, a few questions:
- Anyone know where I can get OS zips from for a Samsung P7510?
- And any ideas on resolving the signal 4 issue?
- Any other ideas?
P.S. The only reason I'm updating is I want to use it for Kindle but can only reach HTTP sites, not HTTPS. Assumed that is because it's so old that everything is out of date. And that stops me from downloading anything from just about anywhere, including Google Play.
P.P.S I have searched the forums but couldn't find anything helpful or with links that worked.
Thanks in anticipation
Might I suggest the stabelest ROM I've ever run on my P7510. I've had this installed on mine for over a year now. There are of course some minor bugs.
The signal 4 issue is most likely a Binary issue and should no longer be relevant since you should reset the device to factory and start over. Another thing is once you Root it you can't download from Google play because you now have an unverified device, it has something to do with Google Pay. You'll want to look for APKs. Although SuperSu is usable, you're going to want Majisk insted. I hear of some problems using SuperSu.
I have these files here in my PC if any of the links no longer work but you'll want to know how to flash it so you'll need the video. I'll check back soon and drop a link to my files. if you need them. I'd need to upload them to my Google Drive first.
If you have any other difficulties I'm usually here about once every week.
P.S. Your tab is better than a Kindle and I would not suggest using it as such, it runs pretty crappy that way . Amazon does have an app you can use. And I see that you have been having difficulties finding Operating Systems for your tab and yes it's because the P7510 first hit the market in March of 2011 there aren't many people doing much with it anymore. There's about 3 or 4 of us left.
Firstly, thanks for your help @Casper Young .
In particular the video was brilliant. I did have a few runs at the update, however, the process was very straightforward. The key issue was the TWRP version I was using. It was supposed to be for the P7510, but realised it was actually for the P7500, consequently the aosp files weren't loading. I think that was also the cause of the errors I was getting. And although none of the links were working I managed to get the file names from the video and sourced them from androidfilehost.com:
twrp2870-20150814-p4wifi.tar.md5
aosp-7.1-p4wifi-20170506.zip
Once I had those it was simple and the update worked smoothly.
I've also added the app from apkpure.com as Google play was a complete pain trying to get the tablet recognised. Now very pleased with the build and apps, all running very smooth.
thanks again
Glad you had no problems. There are some minor bugs. Flash doesn't work for the camera. And check your memory capacity. I use Apex Launcher for my home screen which organizes better for me.
