Hello,
I've been having a nightmare with my Galaxy S2 GT-I9100. The phone had been giving me grief for a few months, the occasional freeze which would be fixed by a battery pull, ever since upgrading to an official ICS rom. Unfortunately I can't remember the exact ROM.
A week ago the phone froze, I pulled the battery and hit a bootloop when I tried to restart. I booted into recovery mode and attempted to wipe data. The phone attempted to wipe the data but froze. I left it for a couple of hours with no progress so I pulled the battery. The phone is now still in the same bootloop but cannot enter recovery mode. It can however enter download mode through both the 3 button technique and using a USB jig. My PC only recognises the phone in download mode and fortunately ODIN also recognises the phone. I have tried flashing various stock firmware and kernels and each time ODIN claims the flash was successful, reboots the phone and hits the same bootloop as before. I have also tried flashing CWM recovery to try and boot into that recovery mode but again this is successful but seems to make no difference.
Any help would be much appreciated,
Thanks for your time.

Hmm ... for bootloop issues, this is the correct guide => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108499
But this requires recovery mode to work.
And you really pressed Volume UP + Home + Power keys, and hold them for about 15 seconds/until recovery menu appears - regardless of any other boot logo or animation which might be displayed inbetween?!

Definitely. Booting with Volume UP + Home + Power keys, I am greeted with my usual bootloop Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100 boot screen, after around 10 seconds the screen goes black and then the bootloop screen comes back on.
Any other suggestions?
Same problem
Hi,
I have the same problem. I would be interested in a solution for this as well. I've already tried reflashing the ROM, kernel and bootloader, together with repartitioning. Still can't get into recovery mode.
Cheers,
Tudor

Hi,
What I finally managed to do is connect to ADB and do a wipe from there. Connecting to ADB in download mode sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, depends on how lucky you are. Try it a couple of times. Afterwards I was able to re-flash and it started. For me, the problem was also a bit deeper; my USB port was shortcircuiting or something. I just took a toothpick and pushed the USB pin a bit (found the idea online) and haven't had any problems since then.
Cheers,
Tudor
First of all, I have the straight talk version of this phone. Second, here is everything I can do and what the phone does:
What I CAN do:
Enter CWM recovery (Though, sometimes it will crash instantly, the Power button will not work)
Enter download mode (Thanks to USB jig)
Use the phone (Max of 5 mins before the phone crashes.)
Fun information about the phone:
The Power button is a gamble. Sometimes it will work, sometimes it wont.
If I turn the phone on (Have to take battery out then put back in), and let it go to sleep. 9 times out of 10 the phone will crash.
CWM crashes...very often. Very often in this case can be defined as 'always'.
Here is what I HAVE done:
Attempted to flash the stock ROM
Factory reset
Wipe data and cache (Though, CWM crashed both times on these, don't know if it fully cleared them)
Here is what I attempted to do:
Perform a ROM wipe using a script from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38199542 (This was unsuccessful because everytime I try and do this, CWM crashes before I can start the process)
That ends that. I just want this boot loop to end...and restore functionality back to the power button (I'm thinking flashing back to the stock ROM will solve this). I have done nothing to cause this. The only thing that happened before the boot loop is the battery was low and when I turned the phone on (it was in sleep mode), I accidentally pressed the power button twice, which first froze the phone. Then, crashed the phone. Ever since then it was in a boot loop.
Hello, I'm new to the forum so please be gentile.
I installed this version of rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2780507) following all the steps in detail, but after the installation of cell phone got stuck on startup log (it has been more than an hour since it got stuck). I tried to reset by pressing the volume down + power button, but to no avail. I would be grateful for a solution (except battery depletion - since I can not remove the battery ).
Tried to reboot via adb, but it respondes <waiting for device>....and nothing happens
Hello everyone,
Even though this is my very first post here, I've been occupied with rooting android phones and flashing new ROMs quite often. I encountered what seems to be an unsolvable problem.
I'm using an S3 I9300 with ArchiDroid v3.1.5 flashed. I had to remove the power button several months ago due to malfunctioning. A couple days ago, my phone suddenly went into a boot loop after the battery was drained and phone was shut down. I charged the phone and turned it on but it never boots. Samsung logo comes and archidroid boot animation starts but the phone gets stuck there. I actually know many ways to get out of a boot loop using download mode, recovery mode, adb, fastboot etc. However, it seems like there's no way to get my phone out of this loop since it does not have a power button. I've tried every single method to go into recovery or download mode without a power button but it does not work. Since the phone does not boot, I can't use any apps to go into download or recovery mode. I tried using adb while the phone is stuck at boot animation but it is a no go due to authorization. It looks like there is no way to get this phone into either download or recovery mode where I can save it easily.
I've been searching everywhere for the last two days for a solution and any method I found, I tried immediately but nothing works. I tried all common and even uncommon methods to put the phone into download mode without a power button. Also couldn't find a way to get around the authorization problem to use adb.
My phone is now out of order and I need a solution urgently. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hello XDA!
My phone is an Alcatel One Touch pop D5 5038A. I rooted this phone 3 weeks ago and the only thing I did was partition my SD card. No customs roms etc etc. Everything was going well until one time my phone died and I had to charge it. I tried turning it on but it was stuck on bootloop. I entered recovery mode and selected "reboot." That seemed to fix the problem but then after a few days, it happened again and this time I can't enter recovery mode. I kept on holding the power button+volume up button but the Alcatel logo just kept on flashing. What I did instead was reinsert the battery a few times with a few attempts to turn the phone on. This fixed the problem but just yesterday, my phone died by itself again. I've reinserted my battery a lot of times already but it still wouldn't work. I'm new to rooting and I ain't so sure if my phone is bricked. Recovery mode still wouldn't work at all. Thanks!
Ps. No system updates were installed on this device.
