First: You would need an Unlocked Bootloader to make this work.
UNLOCKING THE BOOTLOADER IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. You had to get lucky and get into the depth testing program. Oppo has moved on to the Find X2 and above with their testing and I haven't found the latest test app that works on the FInd X. Since I didn't get into the testing, the phone doesn't stay in fastboot mode, and I can't unlock the bootloader.
Second: IF you're able to get an unlocked bootloader, then it's as simple as:
downloading the latest ozip file to your computer
converting it to a zip
extracting the boot.img file
Installing Magisk apk on the phone
Move the boot image to device storage
Use Magisk to modify the boot image
Move the new image to your computer
Boot into fastboot mode
Flash the new boot.img
Reboot with root privileges

[Q] Lost for root my Z2

Hello, I had my Z2 there some day and I want to :
Root
Unlock Bootloader and do a Backup "TA"
But unfortunately I understand anything about procedure and what to follow.
I had a HTC one X who was also root (Fairly easy to do). And afraid to make a false manipulation, I prefer to ask you directly.
Even with the tutorial XDA I understand nothing
Here is all the info:
Build Number: 17.1.2.A.0.314
Android version: 4.4.2
Model Number: D6503
Color: Black
What program should I use?
I had heard of "Towelroot" but apparently it would be outdated.
There are also "rootkitXperia" but when I open it strikes me as' Ads is not recognized as an intern command"
"FlashBoot" Is it still relevant or is overcome?
I activate the developper Mode and the USB Debugging
Thank you for your help :good:
Edit: The phone is root, but when I try to follow the 3 steps of the backup TA that does not seem to work because I find no backup.

Are you using the toolkit to back up your TA partition? The toolkit should be found on the cross development section. If you can use a previous version such as v9 or something, all you need to do is go to towelroot website and download the apk, put that new apk into the 'files' folder of the toolkit and then run the install.bat file and follow the instructions.

Hello,
Thank your for your replay.
I just want to save the TA partition, Bootloader and then have a Custom Rom (Is the fact of changing rom allows to have a phone to unlock operator?)
toolkit is used to be the only root ?
@Steinshy Ok m8, for TA use this (assuming you have windows).
For root use this (I used v11 to root .314 firmware with a locked bootloader). Also read this It has lots of info and usefull links. If you want to flash a custom rom you'll need to flash this (assuming you have a locked bootloader). If your operator has locked your phone i.e. Bootloader unlock allowed: No it doesn't matter cause you can still root. You just can't flash custom kernels or roms that require a custom kernel. I hope this helps you a bit m8. If you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask. Good luck m8:highfive:

There would have there a topic of reccensement mod (For skin or another) to install on the Z2 ?

Acer Predator 8 GT-810 Root needed please!

Hello, i am willing to donate if someone can figure out a way to Root the new Acer Predator 8 GT-810 Tablet. Been looking everywhere and tried many common root apps with no luck. Thanks in advance.
Mee Too! I will also donate when someone helps me to root the Acer predator 8.
Amazing tablet, but what's the point when you can't root and hook up your Ps3 controller to play some emulators?
First i need root for the device to get it Ad-free and to install appOops, to delete tons of bloatware, a working recovery would be great and some custom Roms also.
I would love to have root for this tablet too
Anybody knows, how to root Acer Predator 8 GT-810 ?
I can unlock the bootloader, unfortunately I need to compile TWRP to install the SU binaries. If anyone can point me in the right direction on how to compile TWRP for a device that no devs are working on, I would love to try to do this myself. Thanks!

And if you success root Acer GT-810, please help provide the Root Tool to me, thank you very much.:fingers-crossed:
I might have a way of easily flash TWRP, and install SuperSU, use the Temporary recovery project to boot temporarily into twrp and flashing supersu, theres an easy way of getting twrp permanently but ill try it when i get the tablet 31th of this month.
Also this temporary recovery does not require an unlocked bootloader since it uses a flaw in bootloader to load twrp, but it might be patched, just try it.
Perhaps this new found exploit can be used in rooting this tablet. http://arstechnica.com/security/201...tflips-to-root-android-phones-is-now-a-thing/
Hi, i am thinking of getting one for my son to replace his aging xoom. I want a tablet that can be rooted so I can get rid of bloat wire, not overly fussed about a rom.
I have googled rooting and came across a page How to root Acer Predator 8 GT-810 on androidrootmania.net
Has anyone tried any of these methods of root. Thankyou in advance for replies

it's okay, if you root Acer GT-810 successfully, please help me how to root it with root tool, Thank you very much.
I want use xposed on Acer GT-810.
I think its time to share at least some results, i was able to port TWRP 3.0.2 to this device AND ROOTING this device. ill leave twrp 3.0.2 here for who wants it. Please read all of the post.
=============================================================================================
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT ROOTING:
After flashing TWRP 3.0.2, use the SuperSU 2.46 flashable zip, do NOT use latest version or will result in a bootloop. Good Luck and have fun with rooting. Links on bottom of the post.
=============================================================================================
REQUIREMENTS
1- Unlocked Bootloader (search on google if you dont know how to unlock)
2- Drivers and Adb/Fastboot commands knowledge
=============================================================================================
New TWRP bugfix update! Now you can flash stock rom on TWRP without bricking! Download Page updated!
=============================================================================================
Bugs:
1- adb shell command needs to be sent before system partition is mounted or it will give an error, after doing adb shell you can mount system and do all the modifications you need.
2- You cant flash any img on twrp it gives an error, im trying to fix.
3- Backups do work, but everytime twrp restarts, the device name seems to change (which means that on /TWRP/BACKUPS/devicename/backupsinside/ changes every reboot so you have to go get the backup inside the old devicename folder and put on the new devicename folder).
=============================================================================================
Im leaving an unsecured boot image because system seems not want to boot android if anything seems changed. So please if system does not boot after flashing twrp/rooting, flash the unsecured boot img on fastboot.
=============================================================================================
Also im asking just a little bit of your time to request our device to have our own forum threads as it will make it a lot easier to manage the development and make it easier for people with same device to find it, request it here, the more people the better the higher chances we get to see a forum thread for our device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660354

I have the same phone, googled root/bootloader unlock instructions for it, haven't tried them yet since in my experience Straight Talk phones usually suck
I also have this phone and would like to root it does anyone know anything about it
Same here.. Hopefully someone can figure it out!!
Im trying to figure out how to root my TCL A501DL... they are like the same phone... cant figure it out. used every one click root tool... dont want to flash a random alcatel custom recovery or rom... idk what to do
Mdk easy root
try mediatek easy root
Mediatek easy root says it's successful, but doesn't actually give root access.
You have to find the build number of the phone. Once you do that tap it 6 times and it will take you into developer mode. THEN download kingo root and Whoop there it is!
As posted by Viva La Android in another thread about the tcl a501dl:
The TCL A1 (A501DL) cannot be bootloader unlocked. Although the OEM Unlocking option can be enabled in the Developer Options menu, fastboot mode has been made inaccessible by TCL. Because the bootloader cannot be unlocked, it simply is not possible to flash a custom recovery or a patched boot image for systemless root support. System-wide root is not possible due to TCL's secure boot chain configuration and dm-verity. Until an exploit is found to bootloader unlock this device, rooting is not possible.

I have bootloader unlocked on mine and a working Team Win Recovery, but I still have to fix the recovery being overwritten and I will post a step by step with all the tools etc, so be expecting it.
Not sure if the stuff I'm working on will help the 502, but I have tested it the 501 successfully. I don't have access to a 502 in order to build anything for it.

.HELP! ..SOS..!! Can't Flash TWRP, Magisk won't install zips.......

Hello! I can't seem to make TWRP Official app (from Google Playstore) and Magisk root to work.... so hacking game is still a distant possibility here. I downloaded both app, but couldn't get them to work, so now uninstalled both.
My phone is: Moto G7-Power with Android 9 (Pie), my questions are:
1. Which of these two should I install first on android without PC? Magisk or TWRP? Seem to get conflicting instruction from those tutorials on Youtube.
2. After downloaded "TWRP Official app" from Google Playstore, chose my phone from the list and downloaded the version for my phone. It said downloaded successful, but I can't flash TWRP, can't open it in recovery mode (hardreset), it wouldn't do anything!
3. As for Magisk apk... one of the two files won't install, the zip files.... it said "failed"... so what do I do then?
Can anyone please help me fix all these problems? Very frustrating right now.

Thank you, Kumar for your response. First of, I'm NOT a techie like you. I just followed these tutorials on YouTube....
With TWRP app this is what happened (or not happened):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtvI2C9VrOY
Started having problem at the 3:00 min mark here as well... even with hardreset
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEHChHcpZEI

With Magisk Manager app.... what happened was just like at the 3:00 min mark on this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvlLy42UtGg
I thought explaining what'd happened by referencing what I was doing per these tutorials would better answer your questions, since I don't know how else to say it, again not a techie person.
<Morky>
You have to unlock your bootloader first. It requires that you read out a encrypted code from the phone, via the USB port using ADB/Fastboot. The code is entered into a web page at Motorola, and if your phone can be unlocked, they will send you a unlock code. Then you fastboot the unlock code. then fastboot twrp. then flash magisk.
you may consider going to the forum page for your phone, it will have all the details.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g7-power
look under the guides section
hope that helps

Hello, Morky.
I do not understand how one can flash any image directly from the device without rooting it. Now, in order to root your device you will need either TWRP or flash SUPERSU or Magisk using fastboot. If you wish to root your device and install TWRP on it, you will require access to a computer.
The phone has to be BOOTLOADER unlocked in order to install TWRP and Magisk. Turning on OEM unlock, is a step in unlocking the phone - but it does not unlock the bootloader.
When you are saying the phone is unlocked, I believe you mean the phone is unlocked so it will run on any cell phone carrier - a way the phone is sold. But its not bootloader unlocked.
Bootloader unlocked is different - Most phones are sold with the bootloader locked and because of that, you cannot modify the operating system. Unlocking the bootloader allows you to modify the the android operating system.
You will have to install Motorola USB drivers on your computer. Go to the Motorola page at: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a and read about unlocking the bootloader. You will have to create a Motorola account to get an unlock code, if the bootloader can be unlocked. The pages will also have a link to obtain the Motorola USB drivers (MotorolaDeviceManager_2.5.4.exe).
You will need to install Minimal ADB Fastboot, a terminal program that allows you to push data/commands back and forth between the computer and your phone via the USB port. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790 You will use the FASTBOOT command to obtain the encrypted unlock code from the phone. You will also use FASTBOOT to install the unlock code that Motorola will send you,
After the bootloader is unlocked, you will use FASTBOOT to install TWRP into your phones recovery partition. TWRP info at https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-twrp/ TWRP is a backup and recovery program that is used to install programs, etc,
After you install TWRP, you can install MAGISK, which will ROOT the phone. Magisk info at https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk.
Please go to the forum I told you about and under the guides section you will find documentation that explains how to root the phone and install custom ROMs.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g7-power A guide will give you the finer details for your phone model.
Before you do any of the above, I advise you strongly to have a backup. Using FASTBOOT there is a command called "getvar all", it will return a long printout of info and it will include a readout of the original firmware installed on the phone. You will want to know this in case you brick the phone. Having this info will allow you to obtain the original firmware and be able to restore it via FASTBOOT. Firmwares at https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/ .l After installing TWRP, you should backup the phone to your SD card and then move the backup to your computer for future needs.
Good luck.

..Oy! That sounds painful!! Guess, I have no business be doing this lock/unlock/rooting thing, huh?! Not a techie at all, this is very foreign to me! And those guys on YouTube... they lied then, said I could do all these without PC... Yeah, right! Turned out, it wasn't as easy as they were showing on videos. (((sigh))) Would be easier if I just send my phone to you?!?!!!
Thank yoooouuu soooo much for taking the time to write/tell me all this, truly appreciate your help and replies.

Hello, Morky.
I do not understand how one can flash any image directly from the device without rooting it. Now, in order to root your device you will need either TWRP or flash SUPERSU or Magisk using fastboot. If you wish to root your device and install TWRP on it, you will require access to a computer.

Kumar,
I guess those YouTube tutorials omitted left out a lot of steps and not as easy nor simple as they made it to be.... "without PC" as they claimed. How would someone with no background in computer programing, nor a "techie" like you here at xda... like me would know that?! If you "don't understand how....." I wouldn't understand either!! More so than you. One thing I've learnt now, all those tutorials about rooting and TWRP. on YouTube... are crap.

Rooting Cat S62 Pro Phone?

Hello there,
do you know is it possible to root a Cat S62Pro smartphone?
Kind regards,
Chris
I was searching the internet for the answer, as I need a rugged phone I can mod since my S8 Active is missing the volume buttons and can't mod them past v3 bootloader. Anyways, some websites were saying to download the stock ROM, extract boot.img, and let Magisk make it a custom boot.img.

Hi,
Did you find a solution?
I'm also looking for at least the standard ROM for the CAT S62
Cheers.
Root by Magisk is a standard process. unlock bootloader and then draw boot image to patch and then replace wit patched boot image.
it needs two matters
one is to know to unlock bootloader and anther is to get stock rom
I was a cat S60 user, but i gave up S61 because no one knows how to take these 2 matters.
Now I plan to buy a new phone and found S62pro in the market, but ............... so frustrated
I repeatedly asked CAT for support, even paid support, they could not be bothered less, ... "we already took your money selling you the phone, we don't care now"

But how do I get past the bootloader?
I have S62Pro, is this Root guide fake "https://www.mobilewithdrivers.com/unlock-bootloader/cat-s62-pro-128gb-6gb-ram"
Also is there way to block auto OS updates, read all the trouble they can make.

bootloader unlock is simple
1) adb reboot bootloader
2) fastboot flashing unlock
3) fastboot flashing unlock_critical
Its what to do next that befuddles me... My s62 is not pro, and stock firmware, or an OTA update zip is no where to be found. there isn't even a firehose edl programmer/loader available for it!
