sim enable / disable via app or intent - Samsung Galaxy S21 Questions

trying to find a way to automate or simplify enabling / disabling a second SIM. this was possible in Android 10 using tasker and the tasker settings add-on (on an S10). there is another method using ADB wifi and tasker which works on some Android 11 devices like a Pixel 5, but doesnt seem to work on Samsung devices (have tried on an S10+ and S21)

[TIP] Enable Mobile Hotspot on Nexus 9 LTE with AT&T SIM, No Root Required

As many of you know, putting an AT&T SIM into a Nexus 9 LTE causes the mobile hotspot setting to disappear, making it impossible to turn it on.
This is hard coded into AOSP for the LTE variants of both the Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus 9, and is almost certainly something that the carrier requested. If an AT&T SIM is detected, the setting disappears, and there's nothing you can really do about it short of rooting and modifying the XML file responsible for the functionality. Luckily, for those of us who have no interest in rooting, there is a simple solution.
This behavior is also found in literally every single tablet that AT&T sells. Native hotspot is always disabled in the OS, and instead must be configured and enabled via an app called AT&T AllAccess, which is pre-installed on every single tablet sold by the carrier. As luck would have it, this app is available on the Play Store and works flawlessly on the Nexus 9. You can download it here, then just run it, configure your hotspot settings, enable hotspot, and you're in business.
I realize that this isn't ideal and you shouldn't have to download a carrier branded app to enable something that the OS can do natively, but alas, that's the world we live in. I just figured this might save y'all some headaches.

Android Wi-Fi and Power Management Configuration

Hi Friends,
I'm testing various version of Android with the Zoiper SIP phone client and am unable to get the Wi-Fi device to stay permanently on in testing due to Android power saving / battery optimisation features and policies.
I'm using Android versions 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 on a number of various smart phones - Alcatel pop 5 / Samsung s8+ / Samsung galaxy note 8 / Samsung galaxy j2 pro / various ZTE phones.
Do I need to root these phones and be using custom ROM's to get access to these settings?
How do I permanently enable options like - Developer Options > Networking > Allow Wi-Fi Roam Scans ?
Any help is much appreciated.

Enable WiFi calling

Hi,
I have been suffering to enable the WiFi calling on my Poco F1. I'm on the last beta ROM 9.1.24. I posted the same thing in MIUI forum, but no clear answer.
I tried these codes, but it didn't work also:
*#*#869434#*#* (vowifi)
I found a link here on XDA to enable this feature but it requires root :/
https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/how-to/guide-activate-vowifi-wlan-call-t3871263
My carrier supports the service, I tried my sim on other Samsung device, it worked. But for Pocophone, the options are greyed, can't turn them on as in the picture.
Is there any way to enable it without root?
It's the same as mine though still looking for the workarounds on this in 2020.

Near cell & WiFi polling without location turned on in Android 9.0 Pie

For years I've been using apps that change sound profiles (e.g. Tasker) when I am near cell towers or wifi routers WITHOUT the need for location/GPS to be enabled. When I upgraded to Android 9.0 Pie wifi polling stopped working when location is not enabled. I read that cell polling is also not working.
My desire is to have this functionality (near cell / wifi polling) WITHOUT the requirement of location to be enabled in Android settings. I simply do not want my location to be tracked quite precisely 24/7.
Is there a solution or some workaround to this problem? Maybe some additional apps, Magisk modules, custom roms or something else? At least I would like to have the option to disable GPS if location is enabled (there is no such option in stock Android). I have a rooted Smasung Galaxy S9+.
Ohhhh I don't know

How are you guys using Tasker on Android 9?! It's a popular app with 1M+ downloads and I can't believe that noone is sharing any experience with Pie!

Using ADB to add missing Mobile Hotspot/Tethering menu to Settings? (Samsung)

(this is my first post, so I apologize if it's in the wrong category)
I bought a used tablet that was originally sold by AT&T. I unlocked it and wanted to use it as a hotspot, but the settings menu for (a) configuring the hotspot and (b) enabling hotspot and tethering is missing/hidden. (Apparently the original data plan it was sold under didn't include connection sharing, or something.) So I couldn't set up a hotspot or tether.
I've been able to do 2 things so far using adb:
add a quick settings tile for turning the hotspot on/off (via this post).
This is great, but doesn't ultimately help because I'm not able to configure the hotspot (i.e. set the name/password) and I can't connect to the default hotspot it apparently enables
get the tablet to display a limited settings menu that lets me (a) turn usb tethering on successfully, and (b) toggle the hotspot - but again without being able to configure it. [adding to clarify: the menu has just those two toggles, but no settings for actually configuring the hotspot.] The command I used was:
Code:
adb shell am start -n com.android.settings/.TetherSettings
What I want to be able to do:
get the tablet to display a menu that lets me configure the wifi (name/password), or alternatively do the configuration via adb
if possible, get the menu I described to be permanently added to the tablet's Settings menu. Right now, whenever I want to tether I first have to run the adb command to turn on the menu that lets me enable it.
Is any of this possible?
The tablet is running 7.1.1.
Many many thanks for all help.
Why not create a .sh script - that runs the AM as shown by you - what is run when Android is booting?
If you have Magisk installed you can place the .sh to
/sbin/.magisk/img/.core/service.d/
or to
/sbin/.magisk/img/.core/post-fs-data.d/
( Don't forget to make it executable: chmod +x your-script.sh. )
Otherwise running .sh scripts when Android is booting can be achieved by Init.D Scripts app. A rooted Android is not required.[/QUOTE]
Thanks, that's an interesting idea. It has the drawback that I'd still have to be careful never to close the menu it launches, since once closed I don't know any other way to access it. But it's definitely better than nothing. (And I didn't know it was possible to customize init scripts! That is really useful.)
Any suggestions on a way to configure hotspot settings?
I should probably clarify: the menu I'm able to launch has only two items - a toggle to turn the "Mobile Hotspot" on and off, and another toggle for USB tethering. There's no submenu for configuring the hotspot, and I don't know how to access those settings.

I must admit that I completely misunderstood your issue. Now I know that's related to your Samsung device where you modified its quick settings menu. Anyway: you can't by means of ADB change layout of this menu.
Recommendation: Add SAMSUNG to start of this thread's title.
Ah, good point. I changed the title.
What I was hoping was that there was a second, separate hidden menu I could access for hotspot settings, similarly to how I was able to access the hidden top-level tethering menu.
Or, barring that, some way to configure the hotspot directly via adb commands.
