so the story goes like this
i was on miui 2.9.29 which is the newest and was quite happy with it until i found out i cant record when i try to video record on 1920X1080
when i start recording it hangs for about 10 seconds then i get recording failed
so then i switched to Omega 27 and then the recording worked just fine, but theres too much lag on the dialer and contacts apps so i decided to give a go on RGUI MIUI V12
this rom is really really gr8, its faster and when i installed it i immediately checked if i could record HD and it worked, recorded just fine
after a day of using it i tried recording again and it started failing again
so i read a couple of threads saying that a faster microsd card is needed to record FullHD videos, even though i was trying to record straight to the phones memory, i didnt even have an extranal card on it and to be honest didnt really needed it
but since its not that expensive i decided to give it a go, i just bought a new Sandisk microsd card 8GB class 6, which is supposed to be fast enough for this procedure
i plugged it in and tried recording, but still i get recording failed!, so what else could be the problem ????
UNBELIEVABLE
issue solved!
stupid siyah kernel was the problem!
come to think of it i always used siyah but it does not came with the rom, thats why it worked when i first tried it and later on after i flashed siyah like i usually do, it stopped working
at the moment its working gr8, on both the sdcard and the internal card
il keep you posted if it gives me **** again
After searching for a while it seems few people have shared my problem but none really found a solution.
I'm on a Galaxy S3 i9300 running the latest stable build of SlimKat (which is AOSP based) and it appears snapchat videos only record for a second or so before stopping. According to what I read i recognized the problem as a memory problem, snapchat has a maximum memory capacity for video and for some reason on AOSP based ROMs it reaches that maximum too early. I confirmed this because I saw that when Video Quality is set on "Low" it does record the full 10 seconds (although in messed up proportions which is why I don't want to use it) and if I put the Video Mode on regular and put my thumb on the camera it records 10 seconds of black, and if I suddenly remove the finger it ends because of the memory maximum.
How can I fix this problem? I really like vanilla android and I don't want to move to Samsung based ROMs for something like this. Please help

Had a dream about this... Try going to camera app and go to video setting, in the recording setting change the video to a lower one. Mine was at 1080p and when I changed it to 720p it started working amazing. Try setting it lower if that doesn't work for you. Mine was only recording for 1 second and would stop, after this I can record the full length allowed now. Let us know if this works for you

Hi guys,
I've been using iPhone since they launched and LG V30 is my first android phone.
Here is my question,
Is there a way to record more than 4 GB?
I've been using my LG V30 to record some of my music sessions and it seems that everytime file size reaches 4GB, it stops and restarts.
Stop and restart is okay but there is about 3 second missing from it.
I've tried open camera app but for some reason, audio is terrible.
Can anyone chime in and help me out with this?
Thanks alot.

Are you using the LG camera app in order to film your work or are you using the app called HD audio recorder? On my TMO V30 the HD recorder was already installed.
Next are you recording to internal storage or SD card storage?
If you have external SD card how did you initially format the card? FAT32 or EXFAT?
Answers to those questions may point you to an answer.

Hi psawjack.
Sorry I thread was miss leading.
I meant Video recording.
So I am using LG Camera app.
I tried both internal and external and both did not work. and SD card is formatted as EXFAT.

Okay, here's what I would do. I'd try to do a recording with the HD recording app and test to see if it allows recordings over 4gb. If so then issue is probably due to Camera app. From there if try a different camera app to test. I'd recommend the Google camera mod app available on this forum.
If the HD recording fails after 4gb then maybe system wide limitation. Do you have a AV file over 4gb? Could you connect to computer and try to copy file over to both SD and internal storage and see if you get any errors copying?

Hi! I'm getting a V30 this week and I also plan to do a lot of video recording with it so this is of interest to me. I did bump into the 4GB file size limit on Android as well when recording long videos with other Android phones such as my V10. First I thought it would have something to do with FAT32 storage format which has a 4GB file size limit but after doing some research it seems it's not related to FAT32 but a (arbitrary?) limitation of the Android OS. However, some Android phone makers seem to be able to tweak the OS in such a way that you can record beyond 4GB, for instance Sony (tested it on a Xperia XZ).
Regarding the V30, I just happened to come across this recent thread which is talking about a new OS update for the V30/V30+ bringing features of the newer V30 ThinQ to the older V30(+): https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/how-to/oreo-update-ai-camera-t3760379. Now the interesting thing is that one of the new features listed says "Google Drive supports downloading files larger than 4GB". It could be nothing after all but maybe, just maybe, this also means that Android on the V30 now generally copes with files larger than 4GB and that this will also affect recording video with the native app.
Other than that, a few thoughts how to tackle the problem:
- Judging from my experience with the V10, the native camera app of the V30 should have the option to change the recording bitrate. If you can live with a lower bitrate for your video, you can squeeze out a couple of more minutes recording time. On the V10 I was able to record over 1 hour in 720p resolution with the low bitrate setting.
- I don't have the V30 yet, but maybe the native app (or some 3rd party recording app) has the option to record with the newer H.265/HEVC video codec instead of the (still) common H.264. The superior compression of H.265 will allow you to have a much smaller file size while keeping the quality, ergo you will be able to record a lot longer even if the 4GB file size limit continues to exist.
- OpenCamera is only one of the 3rd party camera apps that support auto-restart: If you find the audio to be terrible you could also check out "Cinema FV-5" or "Filmic Pro".
That being said, I'm glad to hear that on the V30, the native app at least seems to automatically restart after reaching the file size limit. On the V10, you have to manually push the record button again which is annoying when you just want to place the camera somewhere and keep it running while you have other things to do.
Still, let's hope Android get rid of this limitation asap!
I recently realized this limitations of 4gb and there's an interruption of several seconds at least when recording 4k slog format...this is terribly disappointing.
I don't mind the 4gb size limit but how is it possible that you miss time between files?
Infuriating.
Parrot043 have made incredible ported Gcam for version 7.0.009 for Xiaomi device mostly but as we know Zenfone Max Pro M1 is stock Android phone so Gcam will work the best and less issue other than phone with Ui like MiUi,OxygenOS,One Ui, and others.
Also Astrophotography is present but wont work well as it needed powerful cpu better than Sd670..So Sd636 or Sd660 not working well..It does take astrophoto but with lot of digital noise.
Note: Camera2 API must be enable to full(level 3) to install Gcam.

Gcam 7.0 is for Pie only and if you have Android Q please use Gcam 7.2..
One more things, Gcam only works best with AOSP based rom like Stock Rom, LineageOs, OxygenOs, and other..Check Derpfest if it AOSP based or not.

On stock rom?.Before install new Gcam please uninstall other Gcam, clear cache and data and make sure available space is at least 2GB internal..and make sure camera2 Api is enabled to full.
gcam v7 isn't stable on my phone, sometimes freezes in night mode when take capture, but sometimes it can be normal by moving to the front camera and back, but it's very annoying. finally I downgraded to v6 because it's normal there.
im on cusrom ion os pie x00td 3/32, unlock cam2api, free internal 8GB+, free ram 1GB++
Force closing automatically after starting the app! Running Android pie 6gb/64gb indian model

Same situation. Try third party?
I tried third party App. No joy. All have the same problem. Unable to record internal or system sounds. Wondering if China ROM will work?
If what the internet is right and Google denies recording of internal system sounds. Note 10 is indeed missing Internal Audio Plugin. We will have to reflash with another ROM. Or... cos note 10 is new... Maybe an earlier ROM from Note 7. But again doing research on the internet. It's does says Android 11 beta have returned native screen recorder the ability to record again. So... I am perplexed. Comments and suggestions please ?
Currently, I am using my old Redmi Note 7 with MIUI 12.0.3 (QFGCNXM) Stable, Android 10 to do all my video audio recorder on Line and Zoom Apps.

Yes. I think that is a spendid idea. Thank you Orian.
Try to change the settings in Screen Recorder apps. If the sound problem is still, try to use headset/ headphone (plug 3,5mm audio jack) when you use the apps.
Rather than creating new thread, I would ask again here the similar question, although my question is a bit more specific, it's about video-call.
Hopefully someone with valid solution can help explain how.
If my question doesn't get answer here, perhaps I will create a new thread for my question, because my question is more specific and may be different than this thread's original topic.
-------
So;
My question is;
How can we,
–using this Redmi Note 10 & stock MIUI (for me it's version 12.5.4 and Magisk rooted now.. and also I installed ViperAudio, if that maybe influencing the result)–
ScreenRecording a video call
–and record both, the video and also the audio of the video-call session/conversation,
using any video-call app like WhatsApp, Duo, Viber, or etc?
Because everytime I try, it only can record the video, but cannot record the audio, especially the voice of person who talks to me.
Hoping for explanation.
Thank you in advance.
