Has anybody lost the ability to use their face to unlock the phone?!
I've recently realised that the back up to my finger-print unlock is no longer set as face unlock, it just goes to password as a means to get into the phone.
When I went into settings, it showed that it wasn't set up so I tried to set it up again. However when I attempted it, the camera rose up then straight back down with the message"Sorry. Unable to enroll. Please try again" - Trying again just doesn't do anything though, if I go out & back into the set up page, I get the camera pop up & the message again, everytime.
Fixed with install of Color OS11.1

Hi All,
Long time poster, check my history on S2 for confirmation i own this phone.
My dads iPhone was playing up, saying no service, so i switched his SIM with mine to see if his sim was working and Wavesecure kicked in, used my unlock code (for wavesecure) and thought nothing off it.
Screen times out and i unlock, asks for MY android pin unlock (as usual), but it wont take it.
I power off, switch to my old sim and power on.
Back to the PIN screen, it still wont take my pin.
So i reboot to recovery, wipe Dalvik and cache, nope!
Ok, i'll run a nandroid restore to a previous backup, nope!
Ok, i'll flash my ROM again (Checkrom), Nope!
Ok, i'll flash another ROM (Andromedia), Nope!
Every time i wont let me in, i can when i flash a new ROM get to the settings menu but when i try to change the PIN it wont let me as it wants to know the old one.
WTF can i do?
PM if necessary.
Ok, was able to gain access to the phone by deleting the settings.db file, the sqlite3 command didnt work.
However it still thinks there is a pin configured when i try to change the pin via the settings menu.
What the hell is going on here?
So my daughter got a hold of my phone. "I think" she tried entering the password too many times. Now phone just displays:
Just my Background Picture and this message below.
"To unlock, enter recovery password"
______________________________
Under this message is a Emergency Call button.
I tried my phone password, google password, and Outlook password. All not working. After entering my password, and it is incorrect I get this message:
"You have incorrectly attempted to unlock the phone 1 times. The phone will now be reset to factory default" OK button. (DONT CLICK OK, Just restart phone by holding down power button)
I then just power off and restart. After restart -> Samsung logo -> Verizon logo, it goes back to the "To unlock, enter the recovery password" screen.
Don't want to go to factory default, Any help or suggestions???
Verizon Samsung S3
Verizon just pushed out the KitKat update to my phone last month.
NOT rooted, just stock Verizon ROM.
I can call this cell. I still works. But can't get to regular unlock screen. Always just goes to this Recovery password screen.
Do a hard reset.. no another way
Really... Is there no Default "recovery password". I don't remember setting one up. Any Google work around? I tried searching online, and I don't see anything about this "Recovery Password"... Is this new or do people just not get to this screen?
Well, if there is any Odin-flashable recovery for your phone, you can flash it and then pull important data using ADB. You can also take a Nandroid backup and then use Nandroid Manager to see if you can recover any more data from the ROM.
This will void your warranty.
Bingo... So if anyone is still having this issue, you DON'T have to do a factory reset. I finally solved it (at least it worked for me). Here's how I did it. You need a Google account setup already for this phone. Go to: wwwgooglecom/android/devicemanager (add dots, come on xda, I'm not a newbie -> join in 2009) I tried to Locate and I tried to Ring, they both worked, but you need to do this -> Click the LOCK icon. Then it will try to find your phone. If it does find it, it will ask for a NEW password to "LOCK" your phone. After entering your password, your phone will "LOCK" itself. (Even though it has been locked out already) Once that is done, I went back to my phone and try entering this "new" password I setup in the: recovery password location. It works. Good luck...
Not sure how to mark this Thread as Solved...
Bloody Legend!!
You wanted to say thanks mate.
My S5 has presented me with this screen twice, in the past week! The first time it wiped my phone (and SD card).
Happy New Year!!!
J.
Going to wwwgooglecom/android/devicemanager doesn't work anymore. Now when you try that process, you will get a pop-up saying that the device is already locked and the new password you put in will not be used. You are still required to put in the old Recovery Password. I have wiped the phone and tried to find where one would put in a recovery password and cannot find it.
I contacted Samsung and they told me to use their system. Go to findmymobile(dot)samsung(dot)com and log in (assuming you registered). I logged in, went through the process to unlock my phone. I could see the notification that the unlock was successful, but the lock is still in effect. Samsung support said I would have no other option than to wipe the phone again. I asked how I could get support for the Android lock that was in effect, and they referred me to support(dot)google(dot)com. If you go there, and work your way through the menu, you find that the manufacturer of the phone is supposed to handle Android OS support.
So Samsung has added a proprietary remote unlocking feature, but somehow forgotten to disable the built-in one. Since they have that extra "feature" they won't support the default one.
Hi at all!
After yesterdays update over WiFi (don't know which exactly, but I think it's MiUI8 6.9.8) my Redmi Note 3 (Qualcomm, 32GB) wouldn't let me unlock the device neither with fingerprint nor pattern. Before I updated it was normally unlocking. Normally I use fingerprint, so at first I thought i forgot the pattern, but after several attempts the phone went into lock mode. I am 99% sure I know the right pattern, but it won't unlock.
I already read this guide: http://en.miui.com/thread-5684-1-1.html and tried this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMAPEhH5z-8
But I have still several problems:
- USB debugging not enabled
- no recovery installed
- no root or open bootloader or anything like that
- no backup of all photos, which are on the phone itself and not on the SD card (I just came back from holidays)
- no cloud or similar backup
- Mi Pc Suite does not detect phone
- Google Device Manager states "Since Google has verified that a screen lock is already set, the password that you entered won't be needed." if I try the send a new lockscreen.
This method (with flash afterwards) could help me, I guess, but I still would loose everything: http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/guide-reboot-to-edl-mode-fastboot-test-t3398718
I have absolutely no idea how i can unlock my phone without loosing any data (especially the photos).
Please if anyone has an Idea, help me!
Same happened to me so I restored my backup, once the restore had finished I removed the finger print and pin number (I had read about this on the xiaomi Forum). Then did the update again and this time it was OK
sounds easy, how did you restore the backup?
Before restoring any backup, I suggest you hard restart your phone. long press the power button.
but if I make a Hard Reset I will loss everything on the phone.
Is there maybe a possibility to insert some sort of file or command via EDL mode, that USB debbuging will be enabled? http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/guide-reboot-to-edl-mode-fastboot-test-t3398718
No not the hard reset. I was talking about hard restart. The phone will just restart.
ahh I see, sorry my fault.
But nonetheless I din't made any backup ever with this phone.
same problem here
my phone redmi note 3(qualcomm 32gb) is also locked just yesterday ! it shows try again after 120 minutes and after the time completed it shows pattern and it will be locked again and shows the same dialouge after trying my correct password ! actually we shoud get forgot password option behind the emergency option ! please do give a reply to me if you find any solution it means a lot to me !
Well I am afraid I can't help you either... after searching for 2 days I found no solution and flashed my phone. so all data was lost...
hi people, looking to your advice and suggestions.
I was on Android 9 Miui 10. Last night I did a dirty flash to Android 10 Miui 11. There was no issues during this process and the phone booted up fine with no loss of data.
Steps I took -
1) Disabled Magisk modules
2) Removed all screenlock and Google and MIUI accounts
3) Made a Nandroid backup before flashing
Today morning, I tried to set up screenlock on Android 10 MIUI 11. Added the pattern lock, and added a fingerprint. Strangely when I tried to add one more fingerprint (for my left index finger), it asked me to set pattern lock again. Well I set it again, and added the new fingerprint. Same thing happened when I set the face unlock. I added the pattern lock again. But, the patternlock never turned to ON status, even though fingerprint and facelock was showing ON.
When I tried to lock the screen and to test it out, I was able to unlock with swipe (with no pattern, fingerprint or face unlock required). I haven't set any smart unlock as well.. I thought perhaps a reboot will help, but now I'm stuck on a soft bootloop ( the phone boots upto to the lockscreen and reboots before I can do anything )
Is there any suggestions on what I can do ? Please advise. Thanks in advance

Fix
Managed to fix it my myself. FYI
1) Boot TWRP Recovery click Advanced> File Manager> data> system and delete 6 files (ref : https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/remove-lockscreen-recovery-t3530008)
1.access_control.key
2.access_control_password_type.key
3.locksettings.db
4.locksettings.db-shm
5.locksettings.db-wal
6./data/system/users/0/settings_fingerprint.xml
Bootup was successful
2) After bootup, you might find it difficult to set the screenlock password (won't take affect). Follow this -
In a web browser (on any device), log into Gmail with the account you used when setting up your phone.
Go to https://myaccount.google.com/intro/find-your-phone
Press "Lock your phone"
Enter "abcd"
Your phone's screen is now locked. Unlock it with "abcd"
You can now change your screen lock.

Hi there,
Good that you resolved on your own.
Also, this bug can be resolved this way. Try to setup second space. If you are already setup earlier with a password then follow the other member guide until the removal of locksettings db files. Then reboot and try setup the second space.. while setting up it will request to setup the password or pattern for first space and finger prints for second space. Once done move to first space and setup the fingerprints there for first space.
Just making a note here.. so somebody can make use of it in need at desperate hours...
I have spent sometime to figure this bug in the first space but setting up second space solved the bug.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.
I got the device today, but OEM Unlock is missing from Developer Settings. I tried the date and time hack, but it didn't work. I put it 15 days back. Then a month back. Then I put it to the earliest possible date, January of 2004. When I reboot the device, OEM Unlock still does not show up.
How do I get past this? I can't even proceed to anything without activating OEM Unlock.
T220, OEM Unlock won't show up even after date trick.
Ok I got OEM Unlock to show up. Follow these instructions EXACTLY.
Factory Reset Device (Sorry but this will happen when you unlock anyway, and has to be done first.)
Skip everything on the first boot setup including WiFi settings (you'll connect to the Internet later).
I did nothing else, didn't even enable dark theme.
Enable developer options and disable automatic system updates from there.
Connect to a WiFi network.
DISCONNECT from internet after a few seconds. You'll see it trying to update things in the pull down menu, disconnect from internet, you don't want it to update anything. It just needs to be connected long enough to update the day and time to the correct day and time, and register your device. If it didn't work, it didn't register your device yet.
For me, it did get to the point where there was a notification that said, "Finish setting up your Tab A7 Lite." DO NOT finish setting anything up, but do make sure internet is disconnected. Ignore notification, but you should see that.
Disable automatic software update. Settings > Software Update > turn off.
Go to General > Date and Time settings and select for the time to be set manually (don't touch time zone). Set the date to be EXACTLY 10 days BEHIND from your current date.
Go to Developer Options, and OEM Unlock should be there!
If it still doesn't work, you may have to go to extreme measures, but I didn't have to. But first just make sure you did the above steps EXACTLY.
Go here for extreme measures if you did EXACTLY like above and still didn't work (my instructions above were a bit different) https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/a7-2017-w-binary-9-rmm-state-unlock.4057831/post-82049513

Does this technique work for any T220 in any region? I'm thinking about getting the T220, but I read in another post by @tom.android that Samsung doesn't allow OEM Unlock in North America.
Update - Can confirm that this works! Thanks xbt-!
