How to root P40 Lite? - Huawei Developers

Hello to all, I'm not sure if here is the correct forum to ask this.
I have more than a week trying to find a way to install Google Services on a Huawei P40 Lite. version JNY-LX2 (JNY-LGRP2-OVS 10.1.0.297 - C25E5R2P1).
To do this, first I'd like to make a stock ROM backup if something goes wrong, because the procedure that maybe could work says that is needed a downgrade of firmware. In this forum they told me that first is needed to have rooted the device in order to make a full stock ROM backup.
Somebody knows a guide/procedure to root this phone model?
Thanks in advance.
Regards

There is a built-in recovery in huawei.. just hold power + vol up..
As for the procedure not going as planned.. it rarely happens so you don't need to worry about downgrading your device..
just ensure that you dont lose power when downgrading or pulling the cord during downgrade

[Q] Stuck In Recovery Mode

Hi Guys,
I am getting kind of desperate. I keep rebooting into recovery mode. Then, the screen shows Fastboot mode started... udc_start (). I think it is stuck. I am using LG Optimus ONE (P500). I have tried battery pull a lot of times. Doesn't work. Any suggestions? If you suggest I reflash stock rom or something, tell me how please. Thanks.

for flashing original firmwares
If you choose to reflash stock ROM, here is what you need:
- tools: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875881
- ROMs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944881 or the link suggested in the tools thread
You may wait a little bit longer before reflashing to see if anybody has a better solution to your problem. Good luck!
More Questions... Help please if you can... Thanks
Hi All,
Thanks to those who have responded so far. I kind of needed the phone fixed ASAP, so I sent it for repair. But anyway, I have a few questions:
1)Is it possible to reflash stock ROM or a new ROM even if the the computer or Android SDK can't detect your device? (This is with the correct driver installed. When my phone was in the fastboot mode screen, it couldn't be detected as an LG Device at all when plugged in.) If you can, how?
2)For those who have successfully gotten a new ROM onto their Optimus One, how did you do it? Is there anywhere where the procedure can be found? And is it relatively safe? (I know there is always a chance you might brick your phone unless you are some expert, but there are some procedures that are safer than others right?)
3)This last question isn't really relevant to this forum section, but I'll ask anyway. Which phone models (any brand, preferably 2.2 onwards) are good for rooting and installing custom ROMs? Like, are there any phones that most rooting/ROM installing software supports? (For instance, I have heard that HTC phones can usually be flashed with custom ROMs without bricking that easily 'cos they are supported by stuff like ROM Manager etc.) And one more thing: what are the easiest/safest ways found to root/flash a new ROM?
Thanks everyone.

Yes it is possible, you'll need to firstly boot into 'emergency mode', by pressing volume up + back + power when the phone is off. Then follow these steps to flash stock rom. You do not use Android SDK at all, all you need is for the phone to get into the emergency mode, it is what most people with bricked phones do to reflash.

Personally, it was relatively easy for me even though I'm a new user to android. I've had my phone for 2 weeks and bricked it 3 times within the first 72 hours. But there are methods to get it back as I explained in Q1 XD In order to flash a new ROM, there are 3 MAIN steps.
1. root your phone
2. install custom recovery
3. make backup and flash new ROM
if you need help on certain individual steps, just post it here and I'm sure someone will help you.

In terms of the easiest method to root, it is definitely to simply run an app that can automatically root the phone for you, such as z4root, or SuperOneClick are just 2 examples. So I'll say whichever phones these app support, will be the easiest to root. ROMs will depend on the users of those phones and their dedication to creating customisable ROM. You can find most of the phones and available ROMs on this forum anyway.
Is it possible to exit emergency mode? Do you do a battery pull or something? I am planning to test out booting into emergency mode when my phone comes back from repair. Will it harm my phone? (Does it do stuff like wiping system data or my installed apps?) Thanks in advance to anyone who will reply.
I think you can just hold power to turn your phone off in emergency mode, but if it doesn't work, you can always pull the battery out. You didn't mention what you did for this problem to start but unless you perform the same thing, you won't need to use emergency mode.

when you said install a new rom, did you install it through kdz? if you did, try installing an optimus s rom through recovery. heres how:
download a rom on your computer
plug your phone in to you computer (with it already booted in recovery)
toggle usbms on your phone
transfer the rom to your phone
flash the rom

Q. Thinking to start root. (Help needed)

Hello there people!
As you all know every Android user finally goes for the thing called "Rooting" so yes I'm an beginner over it and read alot of discussions but still couldn't find Convincing discussion so I need complete procedure about the Stock ROM and how to back it up in order to Step backward towards it just in case if something strange happens. YES I'll flash a Custom ROM so i'll take the guide as well.
THANKYOU.
Hi there. One thing you will find out about quickly, is that many methods to modify your phone are very specific. Not only to what manufacturer, but what model, what update it is on, if it was purchased from a carrier or unbranded and unlocked, and whether or not there are any warranty issues to consider. Most of the time you can return the device to exactly as your received it and sometimes there is something that is triggered that can not be reset that will show you've modified the phone. So, let us know what you have and we can get you pointed in the right direction to get started.

I have the "Quatro Z4" of the Qmobile company i.e Unbranded but that doesn't mean the unbranded stuff can't get rooted. Yeah I am seeking perfect rooting options and Recovery options with perfect Stock rom Backup.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542825
This guide has everything you need to root and to use the ClockworkMod recovery which will allow you to make a full backup of your current system (these backups are called Nandroids)
I haven't had a chance to look around to see if there are any roms for it yet, but that guide should be a good head start. I would recommend reading through the thread first to make sure there won't be any surprises.

help idol3 5.5 backup (stock and tools to do so)

i am getting an idol 3 5.5 ver..
1. Is there anyway to make a complete backup of firmware etc and save to my pc before trying to alter or root device ?(i have never rooted before and i will prob screw up lol)
2. do i update to marshmallow before trying to root if not can i after root ?
i am mainly just wanting to create a file(s) that bring my phone back to stock if anything goes wrong. i have tried to find this out myself but theres a lot of info out there and its all geared to the whole rooting process.
i just want to get the backup procedure down first before i try rooting or even if i decide to update and dont like marshmallow.
please walk me through how to make a backup and what i need to do so
i have read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/idol-3/help/return-to-stock-firmware-recovery-t3216077
will that method work even on a screwed up root(?)and also it doesnt sound like it makes a copy of stock firmware that you can save to pc to use as a backup later or does it ?
Please help

Huawei p30 lite root

Hello everybody.
I have a simple Question about root on this model, is it possible to do?
And if it is possible, tell me how Please.
Best regards
Wojtek
I am looking for the same too
Me too... Looks like it is still impossible
Only paid method and who knows it will be work on my p30 lite......hmm
Hello ppl,
I know this might be a little old.. any way just for the knowledge lets bring this thread back.
I had the same concern for a while, and kind of eager to get mine rooted.. until now.
I managed to unlock mine, and root it succesfully. Latest version of magisk, safty net passed, root essentials running like a charm, I can ADB in to it and su yey!
How? main issue here is my p30 lite MAR-LX3A was already in emui10, and somehow this little sucker wont allow the unlock of the bootloader regardless. I used a unlock tool that is advised to work for this model using testpoint short. how ever it was not working for me, until I read the EMUI had to be downgraded to 9.1.
Once runnig EMUI9.1 I didnt had to re-run the tool it was already unlocked. weird.
Any how the unlocker tool I used was not the ABD/fastboot tools, it was a paid app in case you are still interested in getting it done I can tell you how. Just keep in mind you will need to Open the back cover of the device.
Think is there is no custom recovery image available that works, neither a custom ROM, so all you have is pretty much root access.
I beleive this to be a pretty decent phone so I dont want just to ditch it, I am working to get a TWRP image, if I a managed to so I will get a ROM done as well. Think the whole device has been off the track for dedicated modders and devs, so it has just not been worked on.
which me luck. I'll keep you posted
I used an unlock bootloader service for 15$. First i had to downgrade my emui from 10 to 9.
I can run magisk without problem. My only problem is that i wan't super su. I was able to flash TWRP Recovery 3.2.1.0 (HiSilicon Kirin 710). But i couldn't use it because the folder are encrypted. So if anyone has any idea how to decrypt this let me know

I'm gonna look for that TWRP img, I didnt find a working one acutally. is there a specific reason why you rather use super su ?
about encryption you usually need to make sure there is no password configured, I read somewhere about a guy that had his Face recognition still configured, and that was the reason he was unable to unencrypt. there are some zips you can flash somwhere around, but never tried them

I deactivated all passwords etc. But it didn't work for me. The only reason i need supersu is because i wan't recover some deleted contacts and mails after factory reset. And those Windows applications with real deep scan not works with magisk.

why dont you try getting an image of the partition with DD, convert it and mount it in the PC directly, I beleive using the scan software directly against the phone is more complicated than just scanning a directly attached block device.

there are a few things to try... you can go to wipe menu in TWRP then use the fix/repair option against the system encrypted partition..
-try reparing it
-try changing the partition from ext4 (check first the type usually ext4) to ext2, then change it back to what it was, ext4
last resource:
-wipe all data/factory reset ***** You WILL loose all your personal data if you do this **** just make a backup MANUALLY before doing this.. if you use TWP backup pbby your back will be encrypted too...
I manage to get mine unencrypted with this last step, took a few attempts, but had to reflash Stock so its back to encryption
Maybe we should create our own TWRP version for the p30 lite. There are many tutorials ^^

agreed I have been working on one that truely works, but there are a few blanks about how TWRP really works.. and its boot process. I have learned a little this past week, but still think gonna have to reverse engineer a working img to get some answers.... I was actually thinking on building a orange fox image better not sure what would be easier..
I have lots of work so I do this in my free time, but let me know if you want a help perhaps we can get something and port a nice ROM that's worth the device

Please keep us posted, really excited to see a custom rom for this phone, also could you elaborate on the process of unlocking the bootloader? My back cover is already broken so I have to open it up anyways

Sure, ive been busy but will try my best.. about the unlock process I end up paying 19 euros... But try using fastboot unlock first.. may save you the money not sure...
1. Downgrade to emui 9.1 .. just plug the p30 lite to PC, install hsuite... Go for the firmware/software update... A pop up screen will show up with some small letters buttom rigth.. older releases or revert to older firmware something like that.. you will get too choose 9.1 only ... Choose that and apply.. Keep an eye out.. this will delete everything in your phone... Next boot you will be in 9.1.. avoid the automatic upgrade.
2. Turn the phone off, take the back cover and locate the testpoints.. short by using metal wire... The small aluminium wire wraps that come with bread and other bags for easy close are usefull just remove some plastic in each side... connect the usb cable to PC.. leave the phone side unplugged.. Touch test point with the wire while the other side touches a metal cover in the phone.. while doing it plug the phone to the USB cable.. the charging animation should not appear . . . Screen must stay black.. otherwise do it again.. if done right the device manager will detect COM port for your device
Identify the point with this video
3. use either app you want to detect testpoint mode and unlock... I managed to do it with a 3 day unlimited license for HCU client.. that did the trick their website have some tutorials easy to follow.
Hi all,
I have the same problem like a few other people. I unlocked the phone with HCU, and after I tried to root with magisk (by trwp) But the main issue, the phone is encrypted and the installation proccess of the magisk by the trwp got failed. How can I root this phone? Anybode has success with this?
Thank you!

Question Rooting the phone

Im interested in picking this phone up but my main holdback is whether or not you can root it. Ive been living that root based adblock life and I cant go back. Non-root based adblocks just dont work as well as the rooted ones.
Has anyone rooted the phone? does magisk + adb flash work? Has anyone rooted CN phone with global rom?
You should be able to but I would be cautious.
Firstly, the service for unlocking the bootloader seems unreliable from some reports (apparently you need to use some Chinese portal for requesting an unlock file - if you don't have luck getting that or it doesn't work, you're stuck and I bet getting help from Lenovo is not easy). Secondly, unless I've missed something, I don't see proper official ROM image downloads from Lenovo for extracting/patching boot or safely reflashing the device from bootloop/soft brick, so you have to go with whatever is available around for download here or elsewhere on the net and hope for the best. Even more important since you don't have custom recovery options (like TWRP) on this device.
In summary, yes, but it looks like risky business. This device doesn't seem to be root friendly...
