[Q] Always connect in USB mass storage mode instead of Kies?

Since i have Litening 1.0 and Kies doesnt work with it, i was wondering if there is any way to make the default action when i plug in the USB to go to USB mass storage mode or at least ask what to do like I9000 instead of automatically going straight to Kies connection mode, so i dont have to remember every time to go into settings, connectivity, usb and click 2 times there...
Activate usb debugging in settings> applications> development.
Sent from my GT-I9100
Thanks, i completely forgot about debugging mode ... Now if there was just a way to make it display the connection dialogue without having to pull down the notification bar that would completely satisfy my laziness .
Just to be sure, using USB debugging mode doesnt pose any additional risk right? I know i needed it to root my old I9000 but never used it besides that...
No, debugging can be left enabled without any issues. Occasionally root apps require it to be enabled. I only turn mine off to connect to kies and then I reenable it after.
kies dont seem to work for me so this is the only and best way to connect via usb! Always used this method with my nokia n900
Anyway, a select list when connecting something via USB would be nice, similar to HTC...
If you plug something into the USB-port, it asks what to do:
- Mass storage
- Sync (Kies)
- Tethering
- USB host mode
- ...
Anyone knows how to probably achieve this?
Would also be wonderfull something like a widget...
+1 for widget
+10 for list
My phone is always on DeBugging Mode. The only exemption is if I want to connect to KIES then I deselect the Debugging Mode and plug in the USB cable.
I have never found a problem with any program running when it was in Debugging Mode.
Tasker?
I have multiple profiles for when it's plugged in (either day or night or at work). I'm not sure if you can differentiate between AC charge and USB charge though.
I DO know that you can make your own Task in Tasker that acts as a widget to do most of the things mentioned here...
edit. there _is_ a Context item that allows a task to be set based on whether the power connection is recognized as a 'USB Power'...

[Q] Remote Access to Android without USB Debugging?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3. I recently dropped it, and the internal touch-screen is broken. I can tell that the phone is working fine. However, the screen will not work. I'd like to find a way to remotely access my phone, since I can't access the screen. However, any and all methods I can find require at least a USB connection, and enabling USB Debugging. I can't enable USB Debugging, because I can't access my phone through the screen. Chicken before the egg. Is there any way to remotely access my phone, either through USB or wireless, without enabling USB debugging?

[Q] How do I disable USB accessory and connect as media/camera instead?

I recently toyed around with USB Mobile Monitor without much luck on Windows 10 Technical Preview. I expected the USB setting to be defaulted back to either media or camera, but it's here to stay as accessory USB connection even after an uninstall. There doesn't seem to be an option for this in the dev options. How do I solve this? When connected as USB, both media/camera options are grayed out.

Wileyfox Swift 2X not visible as usb device

Hi all.
I'd like to install LineageOS on this Swift 2x. But it doesn't show up in the list of connected usb devices (lsusb command, Ubuntu).
The phone is able to charge the battery through the usb port.
The USB tethering option: disabled, grayed out.
Connected devices -> USB: disabled and says "disconnected".
Developer options -> USB: is set to MTP.
Seems like the phone doesn't sense the computer connected. There's something else I should enable? Or the usb-c to usb-a cable (the one bundled with the phone) is good only for charging?
Thanks.
Seems that rebooting the phone a couple times solved the problem.
I apologize for the unnecessary post.

USB Interface won't work

Hello everyone,
I am having an issue with my Motorola Edge Plus that I hope someone can help me with. Whenever I try to connect my device to my laptop using a USB Type-C to Type-C cable, it is not detected by my laptop. However, the phone does charge when connected to the laptop.
I have tried several troubleshooting steps, including:
Trying a different USB cable
Enabling USB debugging and changing USB preferences
Checking my laptop's USB port and trying a different one
Installing device drivers
Checking for software updates
None of these steps have worked so far. When I try to enable USB debugging or change USB preferences on my device, those options are greyed out and cannot be selected.
I would really appreciate any help or suggestions on how to resolve this issue. Has anyone else experienced this problem with their Motorola Edge Plus? Is there anything else I can try to get my device to connect to my laptop?
Thank you in advance for your help

Click to collapse
The USB preferences menu is just disabled and only accessible by the search, which doesn't change any setting.
