Hello there,
can someone help me rooting the Blackview BV9900 (not Pro or E version)?
Found only ways for the pro version...
Is it possible to flash LineageOS (GSI) in a second step?
Kind regards,
Chris
Hallo,
not sure if you're still looking but I managed to install LineageOS 18.1 GSI on my BV9900 just this week. Not perfect (I have no fingerprint, screen wakes up when it shouldn't, TWRP cannot mount /data, Google Pay not working...) but seems mostly okay. Will do some more work to see if I can get at least some of those things working.
As for rooting the stock system, I believe the unofficial TWRP should work - the recovery worked for me (the SP Flash method with some hacking).
As for LOS, I believe this is the best instruction set for this phone. As I mentioned at the beginning, I got the LOS 18.1 GSI working eventually. I even got the GAPPS working in the end, flashed via TWRP after some resizing magic, and registered with Google accompanied by repeated wiping..
Good luck and let me know if you have success (especially with the things that don't work for me, pretty please).

Can't downgrade my Honor 5x from B370 to B350, which is obviousely required before flashing Lineage OS.
- A lot of Guides write that the downgrade should be performed with the Android Update App, then choosing "local update". This doesn't work, because this "local update" menu option is no longer available on B370 Firmware.
- Other Guides write to put the "update.app" file with the old B350 firmware in a dload folder on the SD card, then to restart the phone by pressing both volume keys and power key at the same time. When I'm doing that, the package is verified, then the installation starts, stuck for about 2 minutes at 5%, then the phone reboots without any message, and nothing happened. The Honor 5x is still on B370.
Any advice? Have tried different B350 Packages from different sites. Has anyone a link to a B350 (or to another old Firmware that works for a Linage OS installation) that is proved to work for downgrading B370 on KIW 21? Thank you all in advance for any help.

Try this maybe
Someone posted patch to use customrom without downgrade
In slimrom thread in dev thread
"Someone posted patch" is very unspecific. How should I find that patch? Thank you in advance for any guidance.

So what is the recommended upgrade procedure for installing Lineage OS on Honor 5x with Stock FW B370?
1. Flash Lineage OS over B370
2. Flash this Patch
or is it the other way round?
It's disappointing that there is not anymore any guide that works. It's impossible to flash any older Honor 5x stock firmware version. It doesn't work with the Honor update program (local update option is no longer available), it doesn't work with power+Vol-Up+Vol-Down (phone reboots at 5% without installing anything), and it's also not possible to flash a Honor firmware zip with TWRP (Error 7).
What's intresting is that only Lineage OS warns that a VoLTE FW like B370 has to be downgraded before installing Lineage OS. All XDA developer sections for all the other custom ROMs don't mention that a VoLTE FW has to be downgraded before installing the custom ROM.
- Has anybody successfully installed a custom ROM on a Honor 5x without downgrading the VoLTE FW before?
- Is this downgrade only required for installing Lineage OS, or is it also required or recommended for installing any other custom ROM?

×You need twrp first, custom recovery then before anything backup nandroid first then follow normal custom rom flash processus and for volte it seems you need to flash patch after ROM.
If it boot bingo, then flash gapps, magisk whatever you want.
×Los say it but it is known for every ROM
×Seems @lineu94 giving the patch has successfuly used it.
BUT: some say to not flash what you dont know.
Im not responsable for what will happen.
Nore lineu94 giving the patch.
May be PM him to know where he got patch from who......
If it works, give him credits and thank him for useful comment and zip
Thank you all for your help.
The patch file that you mentioned is for a Honor 8 device.
In XDA Forums, there are at least three threads that describe how to downgrade a Honor 5x from B370 to an older firmware with the three different methods that I have all tried and described here, and not one of them works in my case. My Honor 5x is my primary phone, and my old Galaxy S3 is used by my wife. Since there is not one documented description that works, it's too risky to me to install Lineage OS or any other ROM. I can not take the risk to break my device because I'm using it.
Will stay on B370 stock FW and live with a laggy device and the problems (Exchange Email and Bluetooth) and the missing security patches.
I'm very disappointed from Honor: They promised functional updates for at least two years and security updates even longer. That was one of the main reasons why I have bought the Honor 5x. If Honor wouldn't have lie to their customers, we would have Andoid 8 on our device today. Instead, we have Android 6 with the last security update from March 2017. My next device will be anything other than Honor or Huawei.
Took the risk to flash Lineage OS after a successful Bachup from TWRP recovery to the SD card., and was finally successsful! But it was a lot of "try and error". What worked for me:
1. Performed factory reset in TWRP, and cleaned dvalik/cache, Then, I flashed Lineage OS, the ZIP file that was mentioned here and open Gapps in this order. Then performed factory reset and clean dvalik/cache.
2. The phone restarted, but landed in some kind of Huawei Recovery. Could restart the phone several times, always landed in Huawei recovery.
3. Rebooted the phone with pressing both volume keys and the power key at the same time. It booted into TWRP recovery.
4. Reflashed Lineage OS and Gapps again without the ZIP file. Performed facory reset again.
And hurra, the Honor x booted in Lineage OS

Does It still working for you? I will try to do this on b360 firmware
Yes, I'm on Lineage OS and the 5x is still much faster and I like the features.
But there is no more Development for the Honor 5x. According the Honor update promise, our device should be on Oreo today. And Huawei and Honor just stopped releasing unlock codes for the bootloader. It's very important that customers that want to use their device for more than one year stay away from these two brands!
I also succeeded to install Lineage OS on B360, all what we must to do is install again from TWRP. Everything is working
Unlocked my Bootloader recently.
Flashed almost all the best ROMs available. But can't get root access in any of them except Resurrection Remix. The root access on RR works coz it is prerooted and needs a small addonSU to activate it fully. Coutresy of LineageOS/CyanogenMod.
Magisk would give out "Cannot mount /vendor" "Error:1". I tested it on all the latest builds of all the ROMs(AOSP, AOiSP, dotOS, Cardinal etc..)
Tried flashing Magisk versions out there including the treble version of the beta. Also tried the flashing 'boot.img' trick. Still the same thing shows up.
My device : Redmi Note 4 SD
Recovery : Redwolf/TWRP(tried with both of them)
Has anyone been experiencing the same issue??? Has anyone figured out a solution??
Also, RR also seems to give out the same error when flashing Magisk. When I installed Titanium Backup, it said I have 16 cm-SU installed. Can't find a way to uninstall or remove it either.

I think all the ROMs you listed are Treble ROMs. They require a special Treble version of Magisk which is usually linked in the ROM threads

I tried the treble versions of magisk too. Even tried the beta. No luck.
Figured it out

So it was a problem with the treble implementation of the ROM. I was installing treble ROMs using the stock TWRP/Redwolf recovery. These recoveries install the ROM but don't work or make the /vendor partition. This has led many people to believe that there is something wrong with their phone. Anyway, flashing a custom treble recovery did the job. Although not each one of them is perfect, TWRP_3.2.1-7_mido-treble by @NFound is the best one.
Solved every problem faced by me till now. Custom Magisk for Redmi Note 4 is available and works like a charm.
Magisk-v16.3-mido-treble
It seems no one faced this issue before, anyway this would help the new comers like me.
Thanks.
Couldn't get
I am using RR ROM Oreo since 2 weeks and finding ways to root it
But can't find any way to do it
Addonsu is not working
Treble magisk is not working
I need to change my recovery
But the ROM ended up encrypting my internal storage
So should I clean data to format and remove encryption
Or I can directly install a new recovery ?
Format then wipe everything. With a help of a pc or a laptop download a treble supported recovery or the Firefox recovery(search it). Then try again.
I literally got my Mi Pad 4 (lte) today. Initially it had MIUI EU rom installed, but I somehow managed to wipe the system while trying to install Lineage 16, resulting in having no OS. After several hours of struggle, I managed to install MIUI 10 Chinese stock (10.3.2) via MiFlash. However, I cannot go pass the twrp password stage when I use twrp on adb. I tried formatting data a few times, but it didn't work. I tried adb sideload option from twrp to install twrp or any other ROM, but again, the data mounting issue got in the way. I am completely stuck, and I am desperate. I have tried many different versions of twrp available on this forum, but none of them worked. Could anyone possibly help me? Which twrp worked for you? I've tried:
"TWRP-20190104-3.2.3.0-3-clover.img"; "twrp-3.3.1-clover.img" (from unofficial twrp); "recovery-TWRP-3.2.3-0930-XIAOMI_PAD4(PLUS)-CN-wzsx150.img".
Any help would be hugely appreciated! Many thanks!!!
Problem solved! I used the latest version of the Chinese TWRP (by LR Team) which has a function to disable forced encryption. I needed to reboot the tablet a couple of times to achieve it, but eventually the password step on TWRP was gone! Many thanks to LR Team!! I still don't know what (else) I should do when the 'format data' option on TWRP doesn't remove the encryption. .. Anyway, I have now managed to install MIUI 10 EU then Pixel Experience without an issue.
Hey guys, I'm trying to install LineageOS GSI (arm64 A/B) on my Mi A3 and seem to be having some trouble getting the GSI to actually boot successfully.
I have already done my research both on XDA and elsewhere online, yet most threads focused on the device seem to be of little to no use and/or filled with spam replies that only serve to confuse people looking into this.
A quick note regarding the aforementioned threads:
I don't mean to sound disrespectful to the community, but honestly, bashing somebody over why they'd rather install anything but your own fav piece of software is completely ridiculous.
Without further ado, my case goes as follows:
I'm starting fresh with the latest stock firmware, after having unlocked my bootloader ofc (critical too), I've successfully installed TWRP, wiped, installed the system image and yet after rebooting I'm just greeted with good ol' Fastboot, at which point I either directly flash the stock firmware and try again or wipe my data and whatnot (through TWRP, if reinstalled) and still end up with Fastboot.
Therefore, I have to ask you guys:
Has anyone previously successfully installed any GSI rom on the Mi A3?
Did you flash the system img while on stock firmware or a previously flashed custom rom (ie Pixel Experience)?
Is there any need for any special patch similar to the ones used for MIUI based Xiaomi phones?
Did you face any other issues while trying to flash a GSI?
My intention is to eventually install microG using Nanodroid.
Thanks for asking. I was trying to flash Havoc, crDroid and MSM-Xtended Android 10 GSIs but I can't boot the phone.
I have flashed lots of GSIs in the past, but this is really intriguing me, I can't boot on Mi A3. Wiping or formatting data does not solve, neither Permissiver or Disable Dm-verity zips did the job... :crying:
I successfully bootet the LineageOS GSI yesterday. I was not coming from stock though. I think this process should work assuming you already bootet to TWRP:
1. flash the GSI image to system partition using TWRP
2. flash the TWRP installer to keep your recovery
3. (not sure if needed) flash no fde patch
4. optional: flash some other stuff like Magisk and gapps
5. wipe data and dalvik
I think it rebooted to recovery on my first try but worked after flashing everything again. I probably made some mistake on my first attempt but just make sure to try again before giving up.
Also there's this tutorial but it's not at all what I did to get it working:

Hello, I'm trying to install a GSI ROM on my Exynos S21 SM-G991N, since there weren't any custom ROMs for it. Is it possible to install a GSI ROM to S21? and how can I install one?

I used the official Havoc GSI (the unofficial somehow didn't work), but I was also able to install the Linage GSI and PHH GSI. I think you have to pick the A/B variant and for me only the NON-vndklite version worked. I also usually restore a stock backup first (without recovery to keep TWRP), then I format data and after that install the GSI (without magisk).
I hope this helps

I used the Official Havoc-OS 4.1 A/B, but I couldn't boot with it. Maybe it is different depending on the model?
I have experienced this sometimes as well, key for me was to restore the super partition to stock, format data and then flash the gsi with the zip mentioned in the comment above. I have the exynos variant.

I cannot enroll fingerprint because on-screen fingerprint sensor is not working. Also, I can't use 5G or LTE (only H+)
Is there a way to make any of them work?
Fingerprint sadly does not work for me either. I was able to switch to LTE in the mobile data settings. I hope the GSIs will soon support fingerprint for S21

The LTE unavailable thingie was a problem of all Korean carriers on a VoLTE unsupported ROM. I just ended up customizing One UI
