Question Notifications and Sound Issues - Samsung Galaxy A52 5G

Two questions about this phone to which I haven't yet found any solutions.
I'm unable to see lock screen notifications, or, in fact, anything on the lock screen. I've gone through all the settings for lock screen, notifications, clock, display, , always on display, and app permissions with no change. While I prefer using Nova Launcher, the results are the same using the Samsung default launcher.
My old phone had a setting where alarms only would sound so I didn't mistakenly silence the alarm clock. I've used AlarmDroid for years and want to continue using it but the alarm doesn't sound if ithe phone is set to vibrate only. I don't want or need to hear alny other notifications when I'm supposed to be asleep. I've been through all the sound settings for the app and phone and can't find a way to have only AlarmDroid use sound when nothing else does.
All suggestions or solutions welcome!

It seems like alarm droid is being put to sleep by the battery optimization, have you tried disabling that?

Update: New SIM card fixed the blank lock screen, but even though notification details are supposed to show, lock screen only shows icons and number of notifications per app, up to 4 apps. Tested Samsung's launcher with no different results after new SIM card.

Yeah, I did disable battery optimization on it. Wish I could get the sounds to work just for alarms, but I guess that's not an option..

Lock Screem -> Notifications (touch the the word, not the toggle) -> Details. You can also activate notification on the Always on Display there, but only icons will be visible. If you want more info on the AOD, you'll need an app like "aodnotify" or "Always on Edge". I use "aodnotify because i only want a notification LED thing.

For the alarm issue, just use Google Clock app. Works flawlessly, but just remember to remove it from battery optimization.

[Q] S3 notifications & vibration controls are a mess

I have recently moved to an S3 after years in iPhone land. Its been mostly great, the S3 is a way more open and powerful platform. However a coupe of small things are driving me nuts.
All I want is my phone to vibrate and ring at the same time for incoming calls. Vibrate and play a tone when an SMS is recieved and neither vibrate or play a tone when an email is recievied (but still pop up the icon in the notification area). Seems simple enough, but it appears to be impossible on the stock phone. The only setting covering vibration in the Sound menu is "Sound and Vibration" but if I tick this the damn phone vibrates for all notifications, even if I have the notification sound set as "Silent".
The most frustrating thing is that is seems vibration settings per app used to be there in the S2, but have been removed in the S3. Now the Messaging and Email Apps do not have a specific vibrate option, rather it is all controlled with the global "Sound and Vibration" option.
My other annoyance is there is no easy way to control the brightness from the notification area (with out installing a crappy app). Once again it appears the S2 had a slider right on the notification pulldown, but for some reason this was removed?!?
I have used up all my Google Fu and have no answers. Can anyone suggest how to do these seemingly simple things in the stock rom, or suggest an app or even rom that has these features.
Thanks.

You can fix that in the messaging app settings. Messaging -> Settings -> Notification Settings. Tick Notifications and then select a ringtone. If it is still not working then its a bug, try rebooting the phone.
Regarding brightness control, try the app Quicker in Google Play

Thanks for the suggestion.. it gets quite close to what i want if you use the status bar shortcut. Just wish it could put the slider *right on* the status bar.
I think that saying it's a mess is a bit melodramatic. I have mine set up exactly as you describe. Maybe you need to play with your in-app settings a bit more ...

Is anyone else having problems where your phone freezes for a few seconds when you recieve a sms while the phone is in use?

If i were you i'd do a factory reset.
Before i got my phone i had heard issues where notifications either wouldnt appear or would appear even when there is no text and various other issues regarding sound etc
So to make sure i didnt get any of these issues as soon as i got my phone i didnt a factory reset straight away and i haven't had any issues.
I've set my phone to silent and vibrate. The SMS notification vibration duration is annoyingly long on the S3. Is there a way to shorten it?
I use volume control + pro, and everything is good.... Give it a try

I have exactly the same problem. Since i get a lot of mail every day, it's annoying to have vibration enabled, but disabling it in global settings disables it also for SMS :/ I don't think there is a way right now to leave it enabled for SMS only.

Same here, I set up mine almost exactly as he describe and no problem at all.
So after all this discussion, has anyone figured out how to disable just the vibrate alert for the stock email app? I still want notification in the taskbar, just no vibrate.

No problems at all. As has been said, you need to set your notifications in the in app settings, not the general sound settings on the phone.
To start, go into the phone settings and select sound, and then for notifications set it to silent. Leave sound and vibration as checked.
Then use your in app settings to set you sound and vibration for notifications. I haven't used the stock email app, I use the gmail app. You have to go into the settings for each individual app, but you can set a custom notification sound and vibration for each account. I tested this with two of mine, having vibration on for one and off for another then sent some mail. It vibrated for the account with vibration on, and did not vibrate for the one with vibration off.

OK, just out of interest sake I set up an email account using the stock email app and while it does have custom notification settings for each account, it does not give you the option to disable/enable vibration. So, to me, it appears you can not turn off the vibration in the stock email app without turning it off for the whole phone.
I would assume your only choice would be to use a third party email app if this is important to you.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
I'm on stock everything and it works fine. Only thing I had to do is install an app to get some specific mp3 ringtones I had made. But I do have the option for different types of vibration for different contacts or groups, the silent mode works and the custom vibration also works.
sent with SGS3
1. Pull down the menu where you see notifications and can switch wifi gps etc. Off.
2. Enable the notifications by scrolling to the right and finding the ( ! ) logo.
Vibration is now activated again. Had the problem myself my girlfriend kept asking me how

stop notifications from lighting up screen?

notifications waking up the screen are killing me.. if my phones in my pocket and the screen wakes up, then every step i take, my thigh hits the screen and keeps it awake for hours till i check the phone or it dies first..
sometimes when i get certain notifications, such as low battery, it keeps the screen on indefinitely (ironicly battery warning is a huge battery killer lol..), so does charger connected/disconnected.
anyways there's my rant, my question is,
; has anybody come across a way to stop the screen from turning on when getting a notification? it already lights up, vibrates, has a smart reminder option, and a led indicator, I'd really love to stop the screen from lighting up.
ill give 'Thanks' to anyone throwing out suggestions

are you talking about the sms app? use a custom one
SMS app is one culprit, so is email, Google talk, battery notifications, LINE messager, and a zillion other 3rd party apps.. itd be much more realistic to find a lock screen off solution, or remove the service that lets apps lightup the screen

Easy fix, get SMS popup app, go into the stock SMS app and disable notifications, now go into the SMS popup app and in notifications , click and enable notifications. Now go into additional settings and unchecked screen on for pop-up . That's it, you'll get notifications without the screen turning on.

Soraxd,
What lock screen do you use?
I have a good workaround, but it involves using WidgetLocker lock screen which is hands down the most killer optioned lock screen around.
Let me know if your interested.

soraxd,
Workaround...works pretty much flawless on my S3 with ICS.
Install Widget Locker. You mentioned that it was not as fast as your stock lock screen. On my old retired HD2 and my 6 month old S3, W.L. is actually faster than stock. The key thing is that you have the settings maximized...which include disabling the stock lockscreen from withing ICS/JB settings. (I can give you more info if it runs slow for you) I just set my wife's new S3 with the same configuration and it works perfect. I can unlock and relock W.L. pretty darn quickly...no delays at all.
Then in W.L., I use a simple Iphone style unlock to slide and have that at the bottom of my W.L. screen so my thumb can easily reach. I have many widgets on the screen. (agenda/last caller/clock etc) Then I use a free app named Invisible Lock Widget. You drop this widget into W.L., and you LAYER IT OVER all other widgets except the slide to unlock. (This is one of W.L.'s coolest features)
First off, W.L. should be set for 10secs time out...so less chance of your leg re-triggering it in the first place. 2nd thing, when your leg triggers the screen because it has turned on due to a notification or what-have-you, then Invisible Lock Widget actually re-locks the screen. It's that simple. Sometimes I press the menu button to turn my screen on to look at the time, and 2secs later I click the screen and it quickly and easily turns off thanks to I.L.W. Once you get used to it, you will find it is very convenient and efficient. Like I said, it's a work around and also has other benefits.
Widget locker can be set to suppress the "power button long press menu" if it gets triggered in your pocket. It cannot suppress the "low battery" warning popups that show up above W.L. but the dev might be adding that. (I requested it) I have a Tasker workaround for that. If your running Tasker, I will share that with you. It works like a charm. With all these little workarounds, I no longer do the "Pocket Launch thing".

[Q] How to diable daily weather notifications?

Hi
every morning I have a notification about the weather of the day. It comes from the standard weather app. But on this app, I cannot disable notifications.
I'm not sure but it might be coming on when the alarm sounded.
I have not enabled google now - so it's not this.
any idea on how to switch this off?
Cheers
UPDATE: It's defenitely connected to the alarm. when I switch of the alarm, I do not get the notification in the morning.

Thanks. Did that. Strangely it stopped happening even before.. No clue why. But now it's defenitely off
I been unchecked that for a while now but still getting Weather of the day popup everyday.
they are back .... no clue what this is about...
does anyone use the alarm clock and does NOT have the notifications in the morning?
What I did was add the weather widget to your home screen, then launch the app (only way to run the weather app...stupid) . Now click "More" in top right. Then there are 3 toggles to turn notifications on for the edge screen, lock screen & calendar. Turn them off.
I don't have any notification settings there.. it's more like "Show weatherinfo" and then edge screen, lock screen, s planner. But these don't have an effect.
btw. this morning.. no weather notification.. it seems completely random

you still can open Weather setting from Edge screen setting, also the way you show will not work because it different setting from the op ask, he asked about the notification popup everyday, the setting your show it to show the weather ON/OFF of all the time on Edge screen, lock screen or calendar.
For US version: http://blog.laptopmag.com/turn-off-emergency-alerts-galaxy-s6
Funny, but I am trying to find a way to enable it again.
Does anyone know what exactly makes/triggers morning weather notifications right after alarm sets in? I liked it but it went away for some reason and I am not sure what has changed/what I've have changed in between. I still use samsungs weather widget with manual updates as I did before. Tried setting up alarm with auto refresh but still the daily weather notification won't show up after the alarm is triggered.
Solution?
Has anyone figured this out yet? I like getting the daily weather in the notification drawer but for the last two days it seems to have stopped.
This morning I had set an alarm and cancelled it before it went off, that's the only thing different about today and I don't usually set an alarm. I don't think I set one for yesterday morning but don't believe I got the update then either. No idea what is different.
Will test again tomorrow morning without an alarm set.
Very annoying that there is no obvious setting for this.
New Phone
I have a brand new S6 now and just realised that there have been no weather notifications since I got it. And I'm not using any alarms and the notification options are all selected.
How on earth do I get them back?
The weather notifications work for me if I have an alarm and location services turned on.

No alarm sound

Is anyone having any issues with third party clock and alarm apps? I set my alarm and it does not ring at all despite having all sound and notifications settings correct. The default clock and alarm app work fine but I would really like to wake up to a song/music I choose.
Any possible fix/solutions?

I just got an p9000 and have the same problem .. I´ve tried to add the app (tried a few, used to run Gentle Alarm) to the white list, but it makes no difference ...
I even tried to use the Gentle Alarm "night display" to keep the display on, but still no alarm ...
(would´nt be a problem, unless all the stock alarm sounds are so hideous)
Any ideas?
edit: clicked on the "lamp" button in Gentle Alarm, that says "keep display on", and the night display, that worked! Kind of annoying to have the screen on through the night, but I did wake up to my favorite song!

Floatify = GREAT "notification bell" replacement (so far)!

Just ran across Floatify in the Playstore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jamworks.floatify
Seems to work on the lockscreen the way Android Marshmallow notifications should work! I disabled the heads up setting in the app, but in my 5 minutes of playing with it, the lockscreen works GREAT! You can keep your ZTE lockscreen, the notifications just display on top of it and you can swipe them away. You do disable the stock notifications, but this has worked fine in my email and text test as well as a few Dropbox notifications.
It lets you expand the notifications too.
Only down side I've seen so far, you need the "pro" version ($1.49) to get the notifications to stack on top of each other.....Otherwise, with the free version it still works....But the newest one is on top, when you swipe it away there is one under it....so if you get 6 notifications, to see the first one you'll need to swipe away all the others on top. I've already purchased the "pro" version, otherwise I'd test that setting out to make sure I'm correct in telling you this?
But all's I know, I'm really happy with this $1.49 app!

Well, when I first tried it, it didn't show anything... Then when I was about to post this, I checked again and it shows up just like a standard notification (along with the others).
I'm using Shuttle+ and the top one is the music notification. No controls, just "what's playing".
Lol.....It even reminds me that my wife took the Kohl's card last month and used it (busted).
Best solution I've seen so far.

It's a flashable .zip font called "ChinaCat". You have to be rooted to use it, since it flashed via TWRP.
Yes, amazing. I hated that bell, now it's six feet under.
I just wanted to provide a different option for anybody who wants the finger print scanner + album art to work.
Hi Locker.
Main benefits: full album art with the audio controls and works with finger print scanner.
The main downfall is if you want to do the finger print scanner, you have to have ZTE's stock lock screen enabled which means you'll have two lock screens.
It works two different ways.
1. If you press the power button, it'll bring up the ZTE lock screen with the bell. If you have your lock screen set at swipe, it'll then go to the Hi Locker lock screen which will display notifications. If you press the button, you can unlock by using the finger print scanner twice. So, ultimately, using the power button and swiping immediately will bring you to the next screen and that will have all your notifications including album art taking over the wall paper and audio controls.
2. If you use the finger print scanner, it'll bypass the ZTE lock screen and go straight to the Hi Locker screen. Now you'll be able to function with all the other above. You can then use the finger print scanner a second time and you'll completely unlock the phone.
It's a weird way but this was the best way to get the finger print scanner and album art going at the same time... until ZTE releases something.

tele_jas, Thanks for sharing this one! I think it's much better than having a second lockscreen. I left my native notifications turned on,but just turned on the "Show on the lock screen" option (to kill the bell). Then, inside Floatify's settings, under Heads-up, then under "When", I disable "On Notification", but left "On Lockscreen" set to All Notifications. So I have Floatify only on top the lockscreen, and the default system notifications everywhere else.

Sorry I find the app too messy and complicated with dozens of similar option and settings.
Prefer next lock screen as lock screen replacement and I'm using glimpse notification to wake up screen on notification alert and double tap to sleep from lock screen.
Or just wait if being stock until ZTE make the bell optional witch not being late until released via software update.

Sorry to those not happy with it and are asking me questions on how to use it?..... I liked it and found it useful and posted the link. I don't really know much of, or any of the technical stuff about it, I just set it up and left it alone and haven't touched it since day one. No, it's not perfect and not as useful as real stock android notifications, but I still like it MUCH better than the "bell".
I do know when you "start the app", you'll get the option to disable the stock android notifications (the three choice menu). You want to choose to not show any notifications and this will disable the "bell". There is someone on here uses it a slightly different way and left instructions on how they used it.
