Hey guys found our first custom ROM, it's not official but I've been using it for about a week now and the performance is excellent.
There is not many bugs that I've noticed and build is very stable. One big I've noticed is that when kernel is on performance, the screen does not go off automatically.
I've used Kernel Tasker to avoid this issue by turning on performance for certain apps and games, while keeping the system at Interactive for most tasks.
At the bottom is the link for instructions, the OS and gapps. There is a thread in this forum for passing safety net which I recommend. It solved all issues for me since magisk is failing safety net while other safety apps are passing. All the best rooting enjoy the ROM.

I am still using this ROM daily with no problems, before you flash make sure you remove Mi Account. If you do not remove account, phone will bootloop with any ROM you flash.
Pitch black recovery keeps restarting every time when I tried to flash this custom
I don't know what is wrong
Tried so much but in vein
Finally I flashed my phone and makes it workable

Defintely something wrong. I *did*remove my Mi Account, but to no avail, the phone keeps returning to Pich Black Recovery. I would say: not at all recommended to use this ROM. I am quite experienced in rooting phones, but this one fails in any respect. Do not use this ROM!

I don't know what u guys are doing wrong but I'm still using this ROM till today, haven't found anything else but haven't really looked either.
Follow the instructions on the website to the T, wipe when it tells u to wipe and flash everything in order.
The model 9C I'm using is the global variant and it's not NFC. So perhaps you guys are using different variant but I doubt that could be the problem.
I believe somewhere u guys skipped or improvised a step because from my experience with rooting, 1 little detail skipped or over looked or something that might seem harmless can brick a phone.
I have been rooting since 2015 and my 1st phone was hauwei mate 7. Nearly hard bricked the phone and I had to pay to unlock bootloader using DC Unlocker. I rooted using a 3rd party rooting app, can't remember the name but it almost cost me the phone.
But this ROM works for me but it's a gsi ROM, it's not actually a custom ROM. There are other gsi ROMs out there that u could try. Download treble info for more info on which gsi is compatible.

I remember now, King Root that was the culprit app I used with that hauwei mate 7. 1st and last time I ever rooted with 3rd party app. I was so proud of myself when I saved that phone lol still am.
Booting into Lineage ROM. Perhaps others will have difficulty but if u follow instructions carefully and phone has been rooted properly, it will work.
I recommend the guide for rooting by 0purple. How to root and pass safetynet.
Also very important remove Mi account and reboot phone to insure that phone won't lock similar to Google account lock. So remove all accounts and back up data. As the instructions indicate you will be wiping phone as OS requires a clean install.
i flash this customer rom to remove mi account after done camera not work! and after format user data now stuck at recovery i reflash it with stock rom and custom rom but always stuck at logo ! any solution pleas?

I think the ROM originally posted might have a problem. Try follow my link and use 'snooks4tech's' rom. There is also a different recovery and vbmeta in this download that I flashed in fastboot. The rest of the process I more or less followed as per dawood99's video, eg the step to wipe those 3 things in Pitchblack, copy this rom over, and install it along with Gapps and Magisk with Pitchblack. I don't see Magisk in my phone now though. I'm not very experienced with custom roms BTW so not too sure if I had the right Magisk file. Snooks4tech's download has got instructions as well and does not mention Magisk. Thanks to Dawood99 for the video, even if I had problems with the rom it gave me a good overview of the steps and I learned a lot.
PS maybe I didn't answer your question. I had to download the Mi flasher, somehow I got it back into Fastboot, I think by holding power and down volume, then flashed it back to stock Xiaomi. Then I started the custom rom flashing process again. I think I flashed Pitchblack again, and Snooks4tech's vbmeta and recovery. It then booted into Pitchblack properly again, and I could do the rest.
So far this rom is working reasonably well for me, Google play store doesn't work but I side-install APK's by downloading from browser. F-droid app is also intermittently not giving me any apps when I search.
Again I'm not expert at all this so take what I say with a pinch of salt, I could be talking rubbish here and there.
Both ROMs and Install Instructions cause in a boot into PBRP recovery (tried with v3.0+3.1) and MIUI also doesn't boot :-(
My steps:
- In PBRP recovery
-> adb reboot bootloader
In Bootloader
-> fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta9c.img
Then I reboot phone with 3 different trys
-> 1. fastboot reboot
-> 2. Power On + Vol Up
-> 4. Power On + Vol Down
--> With all trys phone reboots into PBRP recovery
Push ZIP Files via MTP isn't possible, so:
-> adb push [LineageROM].zip /
-> adb push [GApps].zip /
Then in PBRP I go to "Install"
-> [LineageROM].zip with "Patch AVB2.0 Verity"
-> [GApps].zip also with "Patch AVB2.0 Verity"
Then I reboot to system from PBRP
But then PitchBlack reboots into recovery
Upgrade and downgrade of PBRP from 3.0 to 3.1 and back to 3.0 works without any problems.
Please help me, many thanks in advance!
/edit: Flashed original MIUI and reinstalled PBRP, then tried to install Lineage again, but boots only in recovery after flashing booth ROMs.

Thanks dude but I'm not responsible for making that video or am I responsible for the website or the files posted on it. I merely stumbled upon the ROM and I should not be credited for it. The creator is credited on the Website I believe and all credit should go to him.

Return to Un-modded Stock:
Bootloader unlocked and TWRP and Root included
The file is 4gb compressed to 2gb. Depending on your connection it will probably take 20 to 45 minutes to download.
Be Advised
Do your research before flashing anything, I am not responsible for any damage caused to your device, due to impatience and missed steps. However, rest assured this recovery is solid and will absolutely return your X720 or X727 to stock 5.8.21s (with the bootloader already unlocked, TWRP installed and rooted)
I was asked by several people if I would be willing to share a link to my Stock X727 recovery, I created this thread to provide the 5.8.21s recovery for anyone who is experiencing dire issues or is simply wanting to restore the last official x727 recovery, as a daily driver or as a means to troubleshoot their issues by returning to the fully stock rom, stock partitions and ready to start over.
Attached is my full stock TWRP Recovery for my Le Eco Pro 3, version: 5.8.21s (X727)
It is a clean TWRP backup recovery that I did not mod in any way other than unlocking the bootloader.
The link is to my Google Drive account. https://drive.google.com/open?id=19dtLHmE5bsx5mdtEXOns4Z5drpeY79Em
The file is compressed
Ensure that you perform a full wipe before applying this recovery, and that you know what you are doing before attempting to install.
Please note that any changes that you make to your device is done at your own risk.
Please use caution and make sure that you have TWRP recovery installed.
Be in the habit of booting back to recovery before booting to system....This is a good practice for ensuring TWRP stays installed
You must unpack the downloaded 7zip file, before it will be useable.
As long as you can boot into TWRP and have root access you will have the full permissions needed to install anything , and reverse any actions that do not workout as planned.
Personally, I make a backup of my existing installation prior to making any changes. I recommend that you do the same. If you buy an OTG adapter and a USB 3.0 drive it takes 5 minutes.
The steps provided on the following link can be used to install my recovery file. https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/how-to/guide-return-to-stock-lock-bootloader-t3539513

I don't have time at the moment to provide lengthy instructions. With respect, I am providing a working, clean unlocked recovery file and pointing the way to instructions already that exist all throughout the LeEco forums.
But here's a quick answer
First use TWRP to reset your phone with a clean wipe, like you would for any ROM. Set developer options to the standard settings.
Next, your storage is encrypted. So it needs to be formatted. Use TWRP format the storage only. Then reboot to recovery.
****Important****
Don't ever format the storage without ensuring that you have a TWRP recovery. Always check the boxes to check if TWRP is installed before swiping. If you don't have a recovery you have a soft brick.
For you information, TWRP recovery is installed on it's on it very own partition. Formatting the storage does not affect the TWRP partition. Nonetheless, if you see the check box option, make sure they are checked.
I would suggest that you install the all in one tool : https://www.google.com/amp/s/forum....pment/tool-tool-one-mauronofrio-t3580611/amp/
This tool helps a lot and makes this stuff easier if are new to flashing custom Roms.. The all in one tool will update the Google driver and ADB installation on your computer.
After you format your drive you will have to flash the recovery from the PC. The links provided show all of the steps, or you can use the all for one tool. When your storage is encrypted you have no choice but to format.
If you use the all in one tool , see their page for instructions.
Read the instructions, then read them again. when learning something new it's a good idea to take notes.
Do not deviate from those steps or you could brick your phone.
There have been many people that have messaged me by PM who successfully returned to stock using my recovery, so it will work as long as you are careful and follow the instructions verbatim and you will be fine. Plus, It's a great idea to create your own working recovery before you begin.
Reminder, you are restoring to stock under you own discretion, I am not responsible if you miss a key step, have a power outage, use faulty cables or brick your device.
One final suggestion, when you install the recovery make sure your phone is fully charged. Unplug all unneeded external peripherals from your desktop computer.
Temporarily, disable antivirus, insert USB cable into the back of your desktop PC. Those outlets provide more power.
Please look past any typos, I typed this on little keys.
One last suggestion

No it will not keep twrp. follow the instructions in the link I provided above, there was no reason to duplicate the instructions on my post.
The difference is that my backup will restore your phone to Eui 5.8.21s with bootloader unlocked. You will need to reflash Twrp and root the phone with Magisk if you want to keep Twrp recovery ( that is what I would do) You will not be able to get OTA updates. But that doesn't matter because there probably not be any more OTA updates for the x727
Thank you, sir! This is great work. I was able to restore back to stock.
On the strange side of thing, my TWRP was saved. Previously, I was running AICP, but having multiple sound issues with it.
Here are the steps I followed to restore:
1) Move the file to OTG flash drive
2) Restore through TWRP via Restore
For my 727, it just reboot on logo, and doesn't go past it.

It should not take more than 10 minutes, and will usually startup in 5. I just now restored one of my X727's with this recovery, using the OTG method that the last person used and viola in worked so there's no doubt. I have always used ADB until now.
However, unlike the other poster, I did lose Twrp and had to reinstall it.
Always, Always Ensure Twrp is permanently installed
Make sure that you are on the latest version of Twrp : https://twrp.me/leeco/leecolepro3.html
Run Magisk, install Rom, Install Magisk again
Personally, I use the latest version of Magisk : https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/beta-magisk-v13-0-0980cb6-t3618589
You want a fully clean install before you flash.
Instructions are redundant of XDA: if you want something other than what you have read already: Click on my account history to find detailed instructions, ( I type too much, too often) Under most thanked, you can quickly find detailed instructions for installing , Roms, Rooting, Installing Twrp, How to wipe to avoid any issues.
Finally, if for some reason it still doesn't work, the file may have been corrupted.
Worst Case scenario : there are other recoveries available on XDA. Beware of the edited versions, they do not work as well as an unadulterated recovery.

This recovery is stock EUI 5.8.21s. The exception is that the bootloader is unlocked, and it has TWRP Recovery instead of EUI Recovery. I do not remember which version of Magisk I Installed. I would advise that you flash the newest version of Magisk and you will not have any safety net issues.
If you are wanting a complete return to stock, you should instead reflash the stock Full Rom, which will reinstall EUI recovery and lockdown the bootloader.
I was read https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html. That link describe how to install Magisk in our device in few ways. I was interested "Boot Image Patching" section that tell us about rooting device without TWRP.
Before this, I have 5 redmi devices and 3 of it were rooted-well via TWRP. 1 bricked (totally bricked) and 1 still un-rooted (Redmi 6A-cactus).
My spec of Redmi 6A are:
Security Level Patch: 2019-03-01
MIUI Version: Global Stable 10.2.8.0 (oCBMIXM)
Unlocked: False (i know that i should unlocked it later, i still waiting my 360 hours )
RAM: 2GB
Storage: 16GB
Since i found that link, i still wondering and keep searching about: "is anybody succesfull root their device (especially Redmi 6A with same spec above) with "Boot Image Patching" way?
if any, please let me know. i just want to hear their review and (of course) their experience.
thanks
Yes, i got it working but i still recommend the TWRP method, but if you're still interested, be careful, don't disable the forceencrypt while patching, you can disable dm-verity but DO NOT disable the forceencrypt or you'll lose IMEI/Baseband.
Anyway, this is the patched_boot.img i've used (extracted from the latest V10.2.8.0.OCBMIXM rom).
https://www80.zippyshare.com/v/2zWEXIcM/file.html
Repeating, i still prefer the TWRP method, be careful.

Nice... i'll try that soon when my 360 hours run out..
thanks.
Hi @jonaaa, its me again..
i was success root my 6a with patched_boot.img. but i've got problem when i installing systemless xposed. Xposed Zip successfully installed, but when i tried to install Xposed Manager then reboot, i got stuck in mi logo. i've been trying for 3 times and getting frustrated
now i decided to install twrp and (again) i got stuck in encryption problem. most of google result said that data partition should be formatted and that dont make any sense for me. how could i formatting data partition while that partition is untouchable.
so i wanna ask you: how you get rid from twrp encrypt-decrypt problem?

i dont recommend to use my step, because right now i even dont have twrp in my redmi 6a. In other word, im failed.
UBL
Enabling Developer Option
Entry Fastboot mode
fastboot devices (to check it's connected well with pc)
fastboot format userdata
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.3.0.0.img
fastboot boot twrp-3.3.0.0.img
For a while, i was able to entry twrp without any password asked and installing magisk (magisk-19.0.zip) smoothly.
But, when i rebooting, i've got stuck at mi logo (i've been wait more than 40 minutes and still at mi logo). When i tried to Volume Up + Power, just nothing happened but back to mi logo and stuck again (and more 40 minutes :silly:).
and finally i did install fastboot-rom from scratch...:laugh: and since that, twrp wont installed on my redmi even i flash fastboot-rom again and again. Till now i still wondering why and not found the answer yet.

Use the TWRP-1020 instead, it works much better.
hi, i followed this video and i succes for install twrp https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=522RzZ7_uRM&t=254s

My IMEI/Baseband are gone, when I install xposed framework and reboot it's stuck in MI logo, and I tried factory reset from my original MI recovery, it's fix the bootloop but my IMEI/Baseband are gone.... Do you know how to fix it? I spend my time searching to fix it and no result. And I tried flash stock ROM too and no result. Hope you know how fix my issue, thanks!!

Someone said to encrypt the data on settings, i don't know how though, if you fix it, next time, don't disable the forceencrypt.
Can you post questions in the questions and answers section next time?
i was looking around on how to flash twrp but theres no clear guide on how to do it. i keep noticing people said dont disable verity, they didn't mentioned where and when not to disable it.
because after we flash twrp, we boot to twrp. then what?

Uhh... just flash the TWRP and you're done.
The dm-verity removal is necessary if you want to install any GSI.

well i got this issue after flash twrp. after boot and reboot
i got this annyoing android system error, contact manufacturer for detail.
I have a similar problem
I was rooting my redmi 6a and now its bricked
First i intall the twrp, then i flash the Magisk with DisableEncryption, the first boot work fine, i update the magisk app and the new version isnt compatible with the magisk installed
Well i repeat the steps and then i lost the signal, in that moment i didnt know it is the IMEI lost, then i try to install Lineage OS 15.1 GSI for Redmi6a cause i think that is the solution
but the system dont boot, only boot the Xiaomi Tittle with "unlocked" (I unlock the phone before) and then get me to TWRP
Im only one with this problem?
I try use the MiFlashTool for flash the stock rom but not work, now im trying with MiFlashTool flash the MIUI9 and MIUI10.2 and other versions
I think, the problem maybe is the Boot.img
(Sorry for my bad English)
Edit-
I dont have any backup lol

This "contact manufacturer" error happens when you disable dm-verity, you can install Magisk without disabling it.

that just un-official TWRP, right??
i will try that in this weekend. Last time i remember that i can not boot into twrp. Till now, my devices still unrooted. I flash it back to stock ROM. But, when OTA update notification comes and reboot for installing, it give me bootloop into twrp (not to system), and that's mean my TWRP still inside i just cannot boot into.
so, i'll try that TWRP-1020 this weekend. Thanks.

There is an issue with youtube vanced jittiring and breaking the speaker and mic atleast for me. Does anyone have the same bugs? I used the non-root root and magisk version of youtube vanced and it still happens. Currently on 10.3.11
I'm using 10.3.11.0 and it's seen as a Mi Mix 2S
Aren't the stable and developer ROM both based of the Chinese rom?

The same bug happened to me when I was able to unlock my K20 pro yesterday. The headphone also does not work as well. Video playback from youtube is like slowmotion and no sound.
Factory reset did not help either.
I guess the developer of this rom does not have the actual device to test before releasing.
Id like to flash the EU ROM, but after unlocking bootloader, flashing TWRP.. all with success I always then boot again in the built in recovery.. and cant access the TWRP, only after I flash it I boot there on the first reboot. After system reboot, the access is gone or is overridden... any suggestions?
Thank you

You need to boot in to TWRP immediately after flashing it and without booting into MIUI first. MIUI will restore recovery if you allow it to boot first. TWRP on first boot will write something that stops MIUI from restoring stock recovery.
After flashing and whilst still in fastboot press and hold volume up and power. Keep both pressed until the phone starts to reboot. Once the phone vibrates release the power button but keep holding the volume up until it boots into TWRP. It's a bit awkward to get right at first. It took me a few attempts to do it right on my first Xiaomi phone.
I got the issue of video on Facebook played in slow motion without sound. A reboot helps but the issue will occur in no time. And occasionally, I can't receive phone calls why it's calling, only missed calls after that.

I had the same bug and fixed that myself by simply wiping "system" in twrp and reinstalling the rom.
Give it a try and post a comment here if the bug still persists after doing so.

If you have a working TWRP, then wiping system isn't a problem. Your just use TWRP to install whatever ROM you want.
Disclaimer: I'm not a dev, i'm just someone who has a lot of time to do research on Windows, Android... So that i can say i'm quite a talent that stuffs when other don't, may be just know to use Facebook, Youtube or something similar. But when you're here, want to read my topic, i'm happy you're something like me, want your phone yours and yours only, want to do more with your phone. So let's get started.
- My Phone: Redmi 8A -4/64 China Variant, i'm not from China though. Running Xiaomi.eu rom 11.0.4.0 as base to install gsi. I have tried Global Rom but it's incompatible with my phone (random reboot, missing imei, no MAC address...) so please flash another market version with caution.
- Why i write this topic? Because firstly i want to demonstrate how to install a GSI rom. Secondly, i feel somehow wifi speed on MIUI is ridiculous, only 500-600kb/s, it takes me 15 minutes to download a 16mb app; random ping in game, that make the game not enjoyable. This wifi symptom is like on a phone from my country, Vsmart joy 2+, run on the same entry variant 4xx, due to support wifi 2.4 ghz only. (Because bluetooth interfering with wifi 2.4 Ghz and our device doesn't support 5ghz wifi)
Compare to MIUI, Havoc OS has somethings i like:
+ Faster download/upload speed: no delay with wifi bluetooth interference
+ Doesn't have bloatware, you choose what you want to install
+ All known bugs i mentioned in my previous topic are fixed, except Auto Brightness - i don't use it though
+ D2TW needs to be fixed. But i have a workaround using Magisk and root.
And a lot that i dont write all here.
Instructions:
Read my previous topic first, all instructions below will focus on Havoc OS only.https://forum.xda-developers.com/xi...de-how-to-install-magisk-miui-how-to-t4030175
0) Backup Backup Backup, be sure to have a plan in case anything goes wrong. I use a offline disk drive to backup anything important.
1) Unlock Bootloader, Install TWRP or Orange Fox. If you come from stock MIUI, use Volume Up + Power to enter recovery directly after flash with Fastboot, ortherwise, stock recovery will be replaced.
Remember to flash vbmeta.img.
2) Download all the files in my post, download Havoc OS GSI and extract to get system
From Official Havoc OS here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/havoc-os/files/a64-ab/ (Newer Version)
Download Opengapps (optional) from opengapps (10/arm/nano or pico)
Download boot.img from my previous topic, choose the right version matched your phone version.
3) Copy all the files to the phone. I recommend use a micro sd card because internal storage may be encrypted, or you can format data first, your call.
4) Format the following partitions: Cache, Dalvik, Data and System
5) Install system image to system partition.
6) Install permissiver_v5
7) Resize system partition to install opengapps.
8) Install Opengapps or what gapps you choose
9) Flash Certification + Patch
10) Reboot. If bootloop, format data. Not wipe data. Then setup your phone.
11) Install Magisk Manager. Follow the app instructions.
12) Install d2tw module to have d2tw feature. If it doesn't work, then try an alternative way:
Open /vendor/bin/init.qcom.post_boot.sh and add the string:
Code:
sendevent /dev/input/event2 0 1 5
then reboot
13) Enjoy Havoc OS. Install apps, configure settings...
How to Update
- Flash system image over, no wipe require. Just reboot.
Bugs
I don't use the phone often so i can say it's stable enough to be a daily driver rom. If there's any, just comment below so i can add them.
Additions
- Here are all apps i want to install on my phone: Youtube Vanced from https://vancedapp.com/; Bromite for browsing; modded messenger from @evilwombatHere, outdated version but still okay.
- If you don't like stock camera, you can use gcam, here is a working version i download from Telegram group: Here
- To fix Recording, from Misc features -> Force Timestamp Source, choose Clock boottime
And that's all. Now enjoy!
I gifted my sister this phone so i don't have device to test anymore. Still, sometime i'll test if i can. The guide still works so enjoy flashing!!!
Great. I've been using havocOs for almost two months now and it's great. Much quicker and smoother than stock miui. Only problem I've been trying to find a fix for is setting up a lock screen.
Thanks for sharing the dt2w module for magisk. Is there some sort of setting I need to mess with to get it to work? I've installed the module and activated it in magisk but dt2w still won't work. I also activated the dt2w setting that comes with havocOs 3.1 under " xiaomi features " but that never worked from the beginning.

There is a trick, you can enable encryption through Settings -> security -> Encryption and credentials then encrypt phone. If it doesn't work, then read this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/universal-dm-verity-forceencrypt-t3817389
Or you can do the whole process again, clean flash and do as my thread. May be d2tw starts working.
Thank you sir

I wasn't able to encrypt my phone it would just reboot and nothing change.
So I ended up re-flashing back to MIUI stock firmware.
Flashing OrangeFox and HavocOS 3.1
Flashed all of the other necessary stuff EXCEPT for Disable_ForceEncrypt.
Now my phone is encrypted and able to set up a Screen Lock .
Now I'm still not able to use dt2w for some odd reason. No worries though I'm able to set up tap status bar to lock so that'll help for Now until I can keep dt2w to work.

I've considered making a complete tutorial on installing recovery, root, & rom installation for this phone. Next time I go back to stock I probably will make a video. Until then you can definitely follow the tutorials on this forum to install a custom recovery and rom. Personally I would recommend installing OrangeFox recovery because TWRP has touchscreen issues sometimes.
You will have to unlock the bootloader first which takes 14 days if you have not already.
The tool to unlock the Bootloader is here: https://en.miui.com/unlock/download_en.html
Once your bootloader is unlocked you're ready to install OrangeFox custom recovery, the files and instructions can be found here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xi...t/orangefox-recovery-xiaomi-redmi-8a-t4032583
Once you have OrangeFox recovery installed you can follow this tutorial in this thread to install HavocOS rom or the other thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xi...de-how-to-install-magisk-miui-how-to-t4030175
Try it out and then come back and let us know what problems you run into

I'm wondering if that d2tw module not working for me has something similar to do with how the touch screen becomes unresponsive in TWRP for some people. What recovery did you use on your redmi?

I used TWRP then moved to Orange Fox. Everything working fine, may be your screen is different. In d2tw module, there's a file called readme.md: Manual usage : - enable $ set-dt2w 1 - disable $ set-dt2w 0
Just try it -))))))))
Great GSI. I have this one problem though. I cannot backup anything from TWRP. Is it really normal because it's encrypted?

Disclaimer: I'm not a dev, i'm just someone who has a lot of time to do research on Windows, Android... So that i can say i'm quite a talent that stuffs when other don't, may be just know to use Facebook, Youtube or something similar. But when you're here, want to read my topic, i'm happy you're something like me, want your phone yours and yours only, want to do more with your phone. So let's get started.
- My Phone: Redmi 8A -4/64 China Variant, i'm not from China though. Running Xiaomi.eu rom 11.0.4.0 as base to install gsi. I have tried Global 10.3 but it's incompatible with my phone (random reboot, missing imei, no MAC address...) so please flash another market version with caution.
This wifi symptom is like on a phone from my country, Vsmart joy 2+, run on the same entry variant 4xx.
Compare to MIUI, Havoc 3.1 has somethings i like:
+ Faster download/upload speed: almost the same as the speed of my network
+ Doesn't have some bloatwares, you choose what you want to install
+ All known bugs i mentioned in my previous topic are fixed, except Auto Brightness - i don't use it though
+ D2TW needs to be fixed. But i have a workaround using Magisk.
I use a offline disk drive to backup anything important to me.
1) Unlock Bootloader, Install TWRP or Orange Fox. If you come from stock MIUI, use Volume Up + Power to enter recovery directly after flash with Fastboot, ortherwise, stock recovery will be replaced.
Remember to flash vbmeta.img.
2) Download all the files in my post, download Havoc OS GSI from ExpressLuke and extract to get system imagehttps://sourceforge.net/projects/expressluke-gsis/files/HavocOS/Ten/A64/AB/
13) Enjoy Havoc OS. Install apps, configure settings...
Bugs
I don't use the phone often so i can say it's stable enough to be a daily driver rom. If there's any, just comment below so i can add them.
Additions
- Here are all apps i want to install on my phone: Youtube Vanced from vanced.app; Bromite for browsing; modded messenger from @evilwombatHere, outdated version but still okay.
- If you don't like stock camera, you can use gcam, here is a working version i download from Telegram group: Here
And that's all. Now enjoy!

I'm getting the same error with attempting to make a back up in orangefox. After seeing you have the same problem now I'm assuming it is indeed a problem with encryption? I was able to make backups successfully before my phone was encrypted so I still have an old back up on my PC. However it would be nice to be able to make a new fresh back up.

That was weird. In stock ROM, I can back up the /data/media just fine even when encrypted. But after having Havoc OS, I cannot do that anymore. Tried on both TWRP and OrangeFox. I can, with an unencrypted phone, but I do not feel comfortable without a lockscreen. Tried all things I have researched on that error. Not one worked. Might as well just stick to Titanium Backup for backups.
Overall, great GSI. Loading is faster than on stock (with the internet too)! Though, I have another issue with regards to the locking of apps, so that the app would not be cleared. Speaking of clearing apps, it is tiring to scroll left just to see the "Clear All" option in Recents. Autostart too.
I know you are not the developer, but just letting you know my concerns.

So, this is the first time I'm installing a custom rom and I was following along with this guy:
(I found the xda steps to be too confusing to follow) and everything was going just fine until around the 5.20 min mark where after flashing TWERP on the device through Odin I was supposed to press the volume - & the power key to restart the device and as soon as the device went black I was supposed to then press volume + & the power key which I did but then I got this: (attachment)
(btw, even when I don't press the volume + & power key afterwards I get the same result)
Can this still be fixed or have I bricked my device?
Hi @Winter413
I found a wonderful description on the installation of TWRP here .... maybe it's easier to follow though it's for the 8.

Hi @xabu
First I'd like to greatly apologise you for answering so late. I did not mean to be rude I just didn't want to reply with "ok, I'll be working on it than" & I actually wanted to get something done first. I decided to do things that way becouse I thought that I'll find some time to do this rather soon however unexpected things happened that kept me from doing it but now I have some time & have done something in this regard so enough of my excuses let's get to what I did & what I want to ask you about:
So first I went onto the s8 thread you suggested & I flashed vbmeta_disabled & to my suprise when I restarted again & pressed volume up + power it actually booted into TWRP "and relief washed over me in an awesome wave" but then I went on to get lineage os on it and it doesn't show up in TWRP. I have also gotten some other stuff (magisk & a few files from NanoDroid) & those show up just fine. I got the file from here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/andyyan-gsi/files/lineage-16.x/
& the link I got from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-gsi-guide-lineage-os-a10-a105f.4078093/
& as far as I'm concerned that is the only thread about lineage os on this phone on xda so that doesn't work I guess.
I have also tried this: http://www.mediafire.com/file/4w6vaq4lu2tbjfj/lineage-17.0-20200110-UNOFFICIAL.zip/file
& this: https://mega.nz/file/gw4QTYSS#IqqswGusWIW5l10LyvSfmtVUoE4gqn6_g6jywH96Z5Q
& got this:
(I've done these sequentially but I hope that doesn't make any functional difference however one important thing is the first one goes 'till the first "done" and the second one is the rest. You surely could figure that out by yourself but I wrote this just for clarity's sake.)
P.S. I know that both of the error messages I got seem to refer in one way or another to the fact that I'm not using an sd card for this operation, however as far as I'm concerned it should also be possible to install lineage os to the internal storage of the phone & that is what I want to achieve with this.
P.S. 2
I forgot to mention that I obviously wiped everything properly before trying to install lineage os so that's not the problem.

Whatever:
I learned that LineageOS should be installed before other additions like Magisk and G-apps. Do this from internal storage and not from an external sd-card.
In TWRP we always make a Zip queue before installing but always starting with the OS or ROM.
You should be successful now you experienced how to install TWRP.
Always check for the right version or ask in the threads.
Thanks for coming back to me though I just wanted to help you
with installing TWRP and I don't have a A10 at my disposal.
Sincerely @xabu
Ps: I saw that you had courage enough to experiment. Be careful but go for it.
Hi @xabu
So as I mention I made it work by flashing this file through odin while in dowload mode & then restarting & pressing the volume up + power buttons which was supposed to take me to twrp & it did & twrp for me seems to be working just fine so I'm a little hesitant to try & install some different version of it but if you think that's the issue than I will try installing those other versions.
As soon as you are in TWRP and it functions fine, then just look to it's version and go to the link which I gave you for the newest version of TWRP for the A10.
"
If you intend to root your (a10) device, be advised that Magisk will be installed to the recovery partition, not the usual boot partition. Both TWRP and Magisk-rooted Android boot using the recovery kernel, with the device's hardware keys used to choose between TWRP and Android at boot time.
You are therefore strongly advised to first root your device with Magisk and then pre-root a TWRP image before flashing it to recovery. The usual path of installing TWRP prior to rooting is problematic on this device, because the Magisk installer does not support installation to recovery from TWRP. Furthermore, prior rooting of the device with Magisk carries the significant advantage of disabling various device protection mechanisms that you will otherwise need to take care of manually."
In this website the instructions about flashing TWRP to your device goes further .... so try to understand it step by step.
If you want to install Magisk, then you should know that from some weeks ago, Magisk started a complete new life with new important instructions: look here:

As you can see .... there is a lot to do and to learn.
Hope you'll enjoy it like your
"and relief washed over me in an awesome wave"
no one could have said it better .
PS:
Flashing TWRP without first flashing a vbmeta image with verity disabled will render your device unable to boot.
is especially for your kind of device and certainly not in general.
Alright, so I checked my twrp version with your link & I have the latest one so everything is fine. I also got lineage os 18.1 & it seems to have installed just fine. So now it's time for Magisk. So first I'm also kinda following this guide:
& Wolfgang recommends to not only install the .zip file but also Magisk manager & I couldn't find any link to download it.
"The usual path of installing TWRP prior to rooting is problematic on this device, because the Magisk installer does not support installation to recovery from TWRP" so does that mean that I have to go back to the download mode & from there flash the root file in odin & then install magisk.apk like here?:
2. flash root file:
enter download mode ( see instructions above here )
flash the file in Odin ( choose PDA, select the file and the start )
3. install magisk:
install magisk.apk (download link above here > and then follow the instructions in the app (the app will ask once for reboot).
Also, If you're curious, the "and relief washed over me in an awesome wave" is an almost direct quote (I only changed "washes" to "washed") from my favourite movie - American Psycho.
@xabu
If you liked my previous post, does that mean that I should do the steps I mentioned?
Dearest @Winter413 ....
No, this does not mean that you should do the steps mentioned.
Again read the instructions on the official TWRP where they help you with Magisk. You can always upgrade the moment all works.
I'm not familiar enough with your device. All is working here on the S7.
A complete different device as I noticed while studying your situation.
My like also shows my admiration for your courage to root your phone and try out how to go further and further.
Ps: https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/tag/v24.1
What about Magisk Manager? Do I need that?
And also this :
2. flash root file:
enter download mode ( see instructions above here )
flash the file in Odin ( choose PDA, select the file and the start )
3. install magisk:
install magisk.apk (download link above here > and then follow the instructions in the app (the app will ask once for reboot).
Is from this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-gsi-guide-lineage-os-a10-a105f.4078093/#post-82196787
So that's why I asked where or not I should back off to the download screen and flash the root.

Yes you need the new Magisk manager. If you want a rooted phone.
But as I told you....Magisk is changed maybe a month ago .... this means totally new instructions ... so keep this in mind while working with older instructions.
And also regarding the root - If I've gone this far than I might as well go further & attain some more control over my device & also learn a bit about how computers work along the way. This is definitely not the last project of this kind that I'll be doing. I'm already running Pop os on my main computer instead of windows (however I did use windows for this whole process as Odin is unfortunately unavailable for linux). For now I'm also very very slowly learning javascript (I'll try to pick up the pace cuz it's really bad) & once I buy myself a new computer I'll try installing arch on it & using that as my daily driver & yeah, further carrer routes in IT & such are definitely also something that I'll be looking into so while pretty inconmpetent I'm not afraid to play around with computers.
Alright than. If everything is different about Magisk now than I will definitely look into how to properly install both Magisk.zip & Magisk Manager.
So I must admit I haven't looked to much into rooting yet & it seems that It is not required to install a custom rom, however this sounds pretty cool:
Advantages of rooting include the possibility for complete control over the look and feel of the device. As a superuser has access to the device's system files, all aspects of the operating system can be customized with the only real limitation being the level of coding expertise. mmediately expectable advantages of rooted devices include the following:
1. Support for theming, allowing everything to be visually changed from the color of the battery icon to the boot animation that appears while the device is booting, and more.
2. Full control of the kernel, which, for example, allows overclocking and underclocking the CPU and GPU.
3. Full application control, including the ability to fully backup, restore, or batch-edit applications, or to remove bloatware that comes pre-installed on some phones.
4. Custom automated system-level processes through the use of third-party applications.
5. Ability to install software (such as Xposed, Magisk, SuperSU, BusyBox, etc.) that allows additional levels of control on a rooted device or management of root access.

Yes learn about the denylist and Zygisk !
So from my understanding currently the steps left are:
1. installing Magisk.zip & Magisk Manager
2. Installing NanoDroid
3. & perhaps locking my bootloader afterwards to make my device more secure? (I think that's something that should be done but correct me If I'm wrong)
& then I can finally start using my phone on Lineage os, right?
