Does anyone know of a replacement for the outer glass? Even though I am very careful I managed to pop mine today while it was in my pocket

I found this one. There are many others that are cheaper but this looks like more of a quality product.

Hi,
Does anybody know if the XPERIA U comes with a pre-installed screen protector and a spare one like the xperia S
Thanks
All regions of the world come with the pre-installed laminate sheet over the glass, however that is NOT a screen protector. Only the European unbranded units come with a screen protector in the box. So if you brought a carrier branded unit or an unbranded unit from say Hong Kong or Asia you will not get th screen protector, but say you buy an unbranded unit from Clove or Handtek in the UK you will. Here is what Sony support said about the screen protector issue:
The scratch resistant screen is covered in a non-scratch resistant anti-shatter laminate sheet that will reduce the likelihood of the screen cracking or shattering. This is NOT the top layer intended as the laminate sheet is very easily scratched and attracts lots of dust and fingerprints. You are then supposed to put a screen protector over this laminate sheet which will do a much better job of resisting dirt, fingerprints and scratches than the laminate sheet. One is included in the Xperia packaging in unbranded models. The preinstalled laminate sheet is glued down. It can come off but it will leave a glue residue on the screen that is not easy to get off. The second layer screen protector included with unbranded models just bonds through natural static adhesion onto the laminate sheet rather than a glue.
The laminate sheet can not be replaced on its own after removal from the screen. The laminate sheet is bonded to the screen with heat as part of the production process in order to properly fuse to the glass and give it its anti-shatter properties. The laminate sheet is not sold on its own as a part and the only way to replace a damaged or removed laminate sheet is to replace the entire front screen glass panel assembly. As such Sony highly recommends you immediatly install the screen protector included with direct from Sony unbranded Xperia models or purchase a commercially available screen protector for carrier branded units.
PS. If you did not get a screen protector in the box or you messed it up, Handtec has the same OEM ones that come in the boxes in two packs. The one for the Xperia U is available here:

They Lie!! i have a unbranded S from Europe and I don't have the screen protector in the box
i also didn't have the screen protector in the box
My unbranded UK model had the screen protector in the box. Also get one fitted as the non scratch shatter protector is a dust magnet and also scratches easily and as Sony said to another member the shatter screen protector is not meant as a screen protector and one should be applied!!!!
EDIT: Read the post wrong as thought we were discussing Xperia S but should still have the shatter proof protector!

i know...but on my LG G2 Mini the glass screen protector cover the sides better than this crap one! in G2 have 2.5D effect but this doesnt...
i put in all my devices glass screen protectors but this looks so bad because that!
Hi everyone. I just bought 32 GB LG G3 gold yesterday. I bought it online so i'll receive it in 2 days.
I bought Spigen slim case armor and i also want to buy a tempered glass.
I live in Turkey. My first choice was spigen tempered glass but it's not available here. Spigen is only selling cases in Turkey.
There are other brands here. I don't know any of them and can't decide. The price isn't a problem but i want a good one. I saw a lot of cheap tempered glasses in shops. They are like fingerprint magnets. I want to choose the one which keeps the least fingerprint.
Here are the available brands and prices.
1) Rhinoshield tempered glass - 4.9$
http://www.sanalpazar.com/Lg-G3-Kirilmaz-Cam__isp42417372
Official rhinoshield website sells this for 24.99$ so i tought it must be fake but this seller is a famous one. I bought Xiaomi 5000mAh powerbank and Xiaomi Piston 2 earphone from him. Both original. 5408 total product selling and nobody reported him for fake products.
2) IPG tempered glass - 15$
http://www.kliksa.com/urun/ipg-lg-g3-temperli-cam-gorunmez-ekran-koruyucu/902210260
3) Intouch tempered glass - 15$
http://www.ereyon.com.tr/urun/intouch-tm858-lg-g3-tempered-glass-ekran-koruyucusu.aspx
Intouch tempered glass covers the screen but IPG one doesn't cover front camera or the sensors. IPG worries me that uncovered top screen can be easily scratched or damaged.
Which one do you suggest? Which one is more fingerprint proof? Thank you for your suggestions. Have a nice day all.
Ordered IPG tempered glass today. Topic can be closed.
Hello,
I couldn't find, and hope someone can direct me, to a protection cover for the G8X phone in the Dual Screen mode (i.e. with the Dual Screen case). All the covers for the G8X that I could found are for the phone only without the (expensive and gentle) case, while a protection is required.
Thanks!!

Hello... why get cover for... the cover itself? It will be very big! If you want protect it, just wrap with that film protection full-body.
No more case as G8X is already too thick with the dual screen case, but I would really like to have something like an anti-fingerprints screen protector applied on the cover display, when dual screen is closed.
Any suggestion?
As other have said, it's plenty thick enough to the point that adding too much more bulk would be a bad choice.
The best I've seen is this: "[GOBUKEE LG G8X ThinQ Screen Protector [Work with the LG Dual Screen] [1 Full Coverage Tempered Glass] [4 Protective Films] for LG G8X ThinQ / LG V50S ThinQ 9H Hardness Anti-Scratch No-Bubble" (I dunno if links to products is allowed to I'm just writing the title in Amazon)
I bought it and it's okay. The back vinal is more pealy than I'd like and the main screen is fairly easy to crack, but it protects all 4 sides of the phone better than nothing.

I just ordered that for my newly ordered G8X.
Looks great. Vinyl like film for the back. Film and glass for protection on on glass.

If you plan on using the dual screen accessory you might not have enough clearance between the screens when closing the device. Doing so may cause damage to one or both of the screens.
If you plan on using the device without the dual screen accessory and you want to protect the screen, you should avoid using Zagg products at all cost. Their curved line of protection has a viewable area smaller than than the viewable area of your actual screen.
That and the curved area of the protector never fully adheres to the screen. Both of these issues indicate the protectors are built out of proper spec to offer the advertised protection to begin with, likely causing display damage anyway, during an incidental fall.
Furthermore, tech support recommends fixing this issue by heating the screen with a hot air tool, which further compromises the protection offered. Tempered glass is made from a ploymer blend combined with actual glass. It's created with heat and formed to a curve, and when cooled offers substantial drop protection to the device it's adhered to... so long as the application is sound and free of gaps between the glass.
If your protection doesn't adhere properly to a curved display, despite being aligned properly, it will cause your LCD to break the first time it lands on that spot.
And when you have a broken screen with a Zagg product on it? They charge you more money for a replacement protector and you pay full price for your broken screen replacement... virtually a front loaded profit machine that gets your money twice while leaving you to deal with a broken device on your own.
Without advertising, there are products out there that when purchased and registered properly, can provide repair reimbursement if your device becomes damaged with their protection on it. Cell Helmet and Gadget Guard are two companies I've dealt with in the past.
If you were to purchase an insured case with an insured screen protector, in the event you end up with a broken display, you could get up to a combined $550 reimbursement for repairing your device. Cell Helmet offers up to $300 on their altitude X line of cases. Gadget Guard offers up to $250 on their black ice + and cornice line of screen protectors.
When you've purchased the products from authorized retailers and followed the registration instructions, you'll have the best combination of protection you can buy for often times the price of a single Zagg protector.
This is coming from a 20 years experienced electronics repair tech. The only time I would ever use a Zagg protector is when a) I can buy it for $10 and b) when it's a flat screen iPhone where you can replace the LCD for $20 anyway.
Good luck, stop giving bad companies your money.
