Question Unlock Bootloader & Magisk - Samsung Galaxy A52 5G

Is there Anyone who Successfully Unlocked the Bootloader and Installed magisk on
SM-526B/DS?

Successfully Unlocking the Bootloader and Installing magisk would be awesome maybe some day.

I just successfully installed Magisk using the standard patch AP method on my SM-A526B/DS

Wow good to know.
I wonder how soon before we can do this on the SM-A526U.

This will erase your phone's data so backup first
This will trip knox and prevent alot of samsung apps working
Unlocking Bootloader
1. Enable OEM unlocking in developer options
2. Turn phone off
3. Plug a usb into pc but not phone
4. Hold vol up and down and plug usb into phone
5. Wait for green screen and follow instructions to unlock bootloader (as follows)
5.5. Long press vol up on green screen then press vol up again
Installing magisk
1. Download your firmware from the internet
2. Extract the AP tar.md5 file
3. Place file on root of phone
4. Download and install Magisk (I used Canary)
5. Make sure connected to internet
6. Open Magisk and press the top install (Manager not the app install)
7. Select Install > Select and Patch a File and select the AP file you put on the phone
8. Wait for it to patch and create a new file
9. Find the new file, usually called magisk_patched in your downloads folder, but Magisk would have said what and where on the patching screen when done
10. In Odin flash this new AP file
11. If needed reinstall Magisk app, open it and let it update
To get saftey net to pass I had to use The universal saftey net magisk module found somewhere on this site. I can find it later if needed
Those are the steps I did, hope it helps

There seems to be no way to unlock the bootloader on the SM-A526U.
Everything I tried fails.
When you enable developer options on this model (SM-A526U) the unlock for the bootloader is non existent.

Reading in to it who is your service provider? Is it T-Mobile? Regardless,it seems your phone needs to either be unlocked by them or a 3rd party. Or you can try to call them and convince them you need the OEM unlock button for work purposes.

This is incorrect. U.S. phones have their bootloaders hard locked and needs paid service to get it unlocked.

Ok so the way I updated it without wiping, although no guarantees as I am no expert with this stuff;
Note. I did disable all of my magisk modules 1st, not sure if that's a requirement, doubt it but I did it anyway
1. Manually download latest firmware
2. Extract the boot file from the AP rar
3. Convert it to a tar file
4. Patch the new boot file in Magisk
5. With Odin install all files but use Home_csc instead of just normal csc
6. wait for phone to reboot, it will say wiping for like half a second and then boot loop to a wipe data screen, don't wipe data!
7. Hard turn the phone off and re enter download mode
8. With odin patch the magisk boot file you made earlier.
9. It should now boot and upgrade

Yes you will need Odin. If you are going to use magisk then either flash twrp or use the patch method. Either way require Odin.
Personally I use twrp. You can copy all files needed ( on to SD card ) and flash within twrp.

yes that was my plan stay magisks with twrp ,
altough i dont remember i did this when i installed twrp on mines
HOW TO INSTALL:
0. Make sure you enabled developer settings by pressing the build number several times and have the OEM unlock enabled
1. Boot into download mode by pressing: bixby, volume down and power
2. Download the latest Odin version, open it
3. Download the recovery file from below and put it into the AP tab
4. Untick "auto reboot" in odin and flash the file
5. After flashing, boot into twrp. Make sure to NOT allow system to be modified till you disable dm-verity! (otherwise your phone will be stuck at bootloop). Alternatively flash my stock patched kernel to the boot partition (install, install img, check the kernel, check boot partition, done). Find the patch kernel here
6. To disable encryption you need to format data

Basically yes. I would first do a backup ( I know but the amount of people not doing it and then wanting to know how to retrieve the lost data ).
In download mode check kg/rmm state is NOT in prenormal state.
Step 5 - allowing system to be modified - that's up to you. I normally allow modifications.
Then format data reboot back into twrp.
Flash/install - no verity zip, rmm bypass zip, magisk .

Hi everyone, this is my first post here on Xda,
I seem to have committed a costly mistake since this is not available in India, in a hurry i bought the Japanese version of this phone, the S0-51B,which incidentally is a single sim variant. Is there anyway of I can flash this Chinese Rom and achieve Dual Sim?
I saw online that there is not much hardware difference between this and the Chinese version. Can anyone kindly confirm this?.

Need help finding the right firmware for my p20 lite

Hi
I recently bought a p20 lite from Facebook and i think the previous owner must have flashed the wrong firmware. In developer options there is no oem unlock button, and i tried eRecovery and it didn't work. The phone is dual sim, some apps see as if the phone is rooted and when i check with root checker, there's no root. I'm from South Africa and i hope i provided the necessary information. I would like to downgrade the phone to the firmware I'll be able to get the bootloader code from.

Okay, try this way out:
1. Download Oreo Service ROM
2. Unpack it and copy dload folder (can be found in 'Software') to the SD Card (without unpacking it!)
3. Turn of your phone and use three button combo (dload method) .
The process will erase all your data!

Question on A12 and rooting

Anyone has a quick guide to updating from rooted A11 to rooted A12
Make multiple backups. You will lose all data, no matter what. Also, TWRP is broken.
Download an A12 update ZIP.
Extract it, then extract the AP file.
Plug device into PC. Ensure USB Debugging is enabled, and that you permanently trust the current computer when you are prompted.
Use terminal or CMD to reboot to Download mode: "adb reboot download"
Open Odin3 PatcheD
Check the box for AP
Click the AP button
Select the stock AP file (or just the super.img.lz4 file, which I did.)
Wait for Odin to finish checking the file
Click the Start button
Go through the setup on device, you can skip everything.
Go to Settings and enable Developer Options.
Ensure USB Debugging is enabled, and that you permanently trust the current computer when you are prompted.
Use terminal or CMD to reboot to Download mode: "adb reboot download"
On the PC, extract the AP .tar.md5 file
Once extracted, select the boot.img.lz4 and the vbmeta.img.lz4, then add them to a ".tar" archive using a program such as 7zip.
Copy the new .tar file to any device with the Magisk app on it (even if the device is not rooted)
Open the Magisk app, click "Install"
Click "Select and patch a file"
Choose the .tar file you copied to the device
Click "Install"
Magisk will tell you where the patched file is located.
Locate the patched magisk file, then copy it to your computer.
Flash the RMM fix by following the steps here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...d-binaries-are-allowed-to-be-flashed.3893592/
In Odin3 PatcheD, check the box for AP
Click the AP button
Select the patched file from magisk
Click the Start button
BOOM. You're rooted. Set up the device for real this time to get your backups copied over properly.

Which model do you have? Do you mean to say you have the T870? If so, check here.
I should also mention that I wrote this guide under the assumption that there is an Android 12 update available for your device, but it's for a different region. I do not condone doing this on any model other than the T970, and I am not responsible if your stuff breaks, ESPECIALLY if you try this on models other than the T970.

Edit: Sorry, wrong thread
Been skimming through messages but not finding a clear answer or haven't seen it asked... I have a SM-T878U (Tab S7 LTE/5G). Can I flash Korean or European firmware on it? Normally I'd know not to however, they share the same chipset AFAIK but don't wanna factory reset my set up if it isn't going to even work.

I am curious: your instructions don't mention BL..., CSC... nor HOME_CSC...
Until now I flashed AP/BL/CSC the first time and Magisk-patched-AP/BL/HOME_CSC when updating. Are BL and (HOME)_)CSC nop longer needed?

CSC doesn't seem to matter for WiFi-only models. Personally my goal in trying this was to get to Android 12 while changing as little as possible, since I do not know the possible outcome of trying to flash a foreign BL/CSC/etc to my T970. I waited for the official A12 version for my T970 with XAR as CSC, and *then* I flashed all of those.
One thing I can say for sure, though, is that AP is all that's needed for rooting with Magisk. And not even all of the AP, just boot and vbmeta.

I may be wrong on this, but my understanding is that very few devices are capable of retaining root after relocking the bootloader. My recent experiments with the OnePlus 8 proved that it's definitely possible, but as I am only a hobbyist tinkerer I do not know how or why this is or isn't possible on different devices.

Sorry to hear that. The good news is that at this point the A12 update has been released for most (if not all) regions and variants, though you may need to search multiple Samsung firmware download sites to find your specific version.

I wanted to give back and distribute an easy to follow step-by-step guide as many were asking for a complete guide and I had a little time to create it today. Hopefully this will help kick off some good dev for the device as we are light currently.
I take no responsibility for any issues with your device and do not have backups in the steps, so use at your own risk as always...
COMPLETE STEPS......
Update your phone to the latest OS/patch level over Internet OTA from 1+ and reboot
Verify you are running OS/patch à CPH2459_11_C_10 (latest at time of this)
Enable developer options by clicking on the build number until activation appears (Under Setting-->About-->Version)
Enable Unlock bootloader in the new Developers Options section now in the Phone menu
Enable USB debugging under the new Developers Options
Plug in your phone with usb connected to pc and select transfer files if prompted
Download and extract install latest ptools-n20.zip (with included patched boot files)
Open a windows command prompt in the folder that you extracted the platform tools into
Run adb devices and be sure the phone shows up as a device that is attached
Accept device fingerprint if asked
Run command to boot to bootloader: adb reboot bootloader
Run command to ensure connection in bootloader to your phone: fastboot devices
Run Command to unlock bootloader: fastboot flashing unlock
Lave command prompt open
Use volume keys to select “unlock bootloader” then press “power” to unlock
The device will reset and will now be unlocked
After phone boots, complete the quick setup
Repeat step #3, #5-6, #9-12
In Command prompt where platform tools are installed run command: fastboot flash boot a.img
Reboot phone and you will be patched
Install Magisk 25.2 App from official repo & Enable Zygisk in settings
Enable Magisk hide and reopen the app
Add your google account if not already added and use Play Store or use Aurora store to install Safetynet Checker by flink apps
Run Safetynet checker and notice the device fails 2 checks
Transfer 2 zip files included to your phone: Shamiko & Safetynet fix. These will help hiding root and will allow your phone to pass Safetynet fixes
Install both zips under module section in Magisk. (you can do 1…don’t reboot when asked, then do other and reboot to activate both)
Run Safetynet Checker again and you should pass all checks.
Viola…you are unlocked/rooted/patched and pass safetynect checks.....ENJOY!
I will update here on how to take future OTAs as more come out and if time allows.
NOTES: Files in platform tools
a.img = boot_a.img magisk patched
b.img = boot_b.img magisk patched (just in case)
boot_a.img = Unpatched a (just in case)
boot_b.img = Unpatched b (just in case)

2/3/23 UPDATE: How to take an OTA and preserve root
==============================================
1. First, Under developer options, make sure the option to apply automatic updates on reboot is ENABLED. (If you do not do this, you will loose root)
2. Unroot the device. We wont completely remove Magisk, just restore images. To do this Open Magisk, click uninstall magisk, and only click "restore images". DO NOT REBOOT!
3. Check for software updates. Install OTA update after downloaded. DO NOT REBOOT!
4. Open Magisk again and now reinstall it but select "inactive slot" for the option.
5. REBOOT. Boot will take about 30 seconds to apply.

My CPH2459 crappped out on me, and I have had little luck since moving from GN2200 to this model and could use a backup if you could lend a hand

No you would need an updated img if you are on the latest upgrade. I no longer have an N20 to test with otherwise would create one for the group. Someone else may possibly.
How? I'm not updated yet can guide me how to do it.thank

Search the other XDA threads here for this device. A few explain how to extract payload and patch.
If you are on the previous update, see the update to my instructions just posted on how to take the OTA and stay rooted with Magisk
I'm getting installation error.. I'm in previous update

Thank you for this! Glad to see people are picking up the slack. I havent updated yet because im worried about having to battle tighter restrictions that newer versions of android inevitably bring. I wont be able to use the images as i have the gn2200 but grateful for the how to guide on updating. Didnt realize it was quite that easy. Im still on May on one device and July on the other tho recently had to downgrade it to restore it in an emergency situation and was thankfully able to do all the flashing from the may device otg

Not a problem. Always glad to help the community out!
Very nice. I'm expecting delivery of one of these phones tomorrow. It already has Android 12 installed on it. So, I'm wondering if it's safe to use the attached image files to root it or should I go through the process of having Magisk patch the phone's existing a and b images?

Just make sure your using a12 boot image if your trying to use a posted one.balso be sure to use the same security patch boot image as the system you already have installed.
Safest bet is to use the DSU sideloader method to pull your own boot image and then patch it if your unsure of which patched boot image to use. It's a little more complicated but pulling your own boot image will ensure that you have an exact match for your device.
If you have or can locate and obtain an unpatched boot image that matches your system. You should have one on hand just in case the patched boot image doesn't work so that you can simply reflash your stock image in that case.
A mismatching boot image can lead to an unbootable state so you need to be prepared.
You shouldn't have to worry much about anything crazy or unrepairable so long as your flashing boot images made for the device your flashing them to. Just don't flash boot images from a completely different device as that can cause you to end up with any sort 9f crazy weird issues that may not even be fixable.

By any chance you got the latest boot.img
Will this work on a GN2200?
NO
Followed instructions and it worked. BUT, can't update the firmware. When I try to restore images in Magisk it says they don't exist. So I can't update to the latest firmware. Suggestions?

I recently ran into this on another device and had to fix so you are in luck. I believe something broke with magisk running on 13 during the last OTA with security, so here are the steps...
1) Unhide and Uninstall magisk app completely and Update to the latest canary version of magisk apk here and restart: https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk
2) Verify it sees magisk installed and has latest build.
3) Try restoring images again and it may work.
If that does not work...
1) You will need to do a full unroot...which technically should not work if the images were not present, but it does, so images are present (proving it is a bug)
2) You will need to complete the full procedure of patching the boot image again yourself.
3) Extract payload and patch the boot.img per instructions in this forum, then flash per my instructions above.
FYI. I did this on the current version of the OS and then did the restore images and upgrade to take the OTA and prove the bug and that OTA updates will work as in the instructions above in the future again, which it did.
Alternatively, you could also update the to the latest OTA after unrooting and just do it once, but I wanted to play it safe just in case Google updated something in the latest 13 builds blocking magisk... So your choice, but please post back here how you make out.
Good luck
