Need Help: Gifs won't animate in messages - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Recently purchased an Xperia 1 ii which I love but gifs being sent to me by both androids and iphone won't animate in my Google Messages app. Installed Textra and it still does it through there as well. The ones I send are fine and the ones I get through other apps such as GroupMe work fine as well. Even when I save the gif from a sender from my messages app, I open it in my gallery or file explorer and it's saved as a .jpg. Any ideas to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

I suppose other members have tried installing native EVO-type mms app, right?
Wish we had a sexy SMS widget. =(
I have installed several SMS clients that work perfect:
1) Go SMS Pro
2) ChompSMS
Both works perfect sending & receiving SMS from my JetStream with an ORANGE sim card
Go to filestube and you can get the apk's there
where are you guys finding the apps? on the market all they have is skins and plugins for all the apps mentioned?
to be clear i want to send normal txt msgs not use one of the apps to send and recieve through your phone using BT or one of those online sms sending apps.
cheers,
disco

[Q] Gosms pro

Hey everyone, I have GOSms installed, but cannot get the emoji add on to work so that I can see emoji. I can send them just fine, but get weird messages when someone sends them to me like: X=/ and etc. I have installed the fonts and can see emoji in twitter and instagram, but not in any messaging apps. Can anyone help?

[Q] Sharing settings suddenly changed

I have looked for this but no answer is coming up. I am running Cyanomod 7.1.1 on my tbolt and suddenly ever photo I send is resized to a small resolution regardless of mms, facebook post or email. Can someone help with this? I can not find a way to mass change this.
*Okay email directly will send a non resized pic but if shared within a program the email will still be resized.

[Q] Restoring Deleted Texts

Hi All,
I'm new here, clearly. I did a fair amount of searching (albeit I may have overlooked the one thread to answer my question), but I need some help. I'm not familiar with the dev side of phones, nor am I very educated by any means.
I recently somehow deleted all of my texts on my vwz galaxy s4 32gb blackmist. I can see that when I open a contact and view the history - the text messages still exist there. I tried the Dr. Fone app by wondershare (and paid for it). Didn't work. I just rooted my phone to see if that would help, and while successful in the rooting, still have found that I can not revive my dead texts.
Any help would be sincerely appreciated.
Much thanks,
Matt
I too have deleted text messages from my phone when clean flashing ROMs. To restore, download the Verizon Messaging app from the Play Store. Set is as your default messaging app, and refresh the messages. Then open your regular messaging app and it should update with the old text messages.
After this you can uninstall the Verizon app. I use Hangouts for text messaging and for me it's a 3 step process: run Verzion meesaging, then load the standard Messaging apk, and then finally run Hangouts.
Good Luck!

Thanks so much for the advice; I did download the vzw messaging app and set it as default. I don't see a "refresh" for this app - but have toyed around and think I've tried everything to no avail.
I'm trying my best here to not sound like an idiot - but I'm not sure how to 'refresh.' I still do see quite a bit of messages in the history of each contact.
Do i need to go into settings to make default app or simply just set it when it asks?
Any more advice?
Thanks again.
That app seems to imply that it only lets you restore messages that have been synced with Verizon in the last 90 days. That makes more sense. I didn't think they kept a user-accessible log of all SMS messages (could be wrong).

SMS text templates and emojis

Hello,
I hope you can help me. I have recently purchased a Moto E2 for my other half. It's all good, but the default built-in messaging app is missing two features that she considers essential:
- the ability to create and store text templates for SMS messages (i.e. save the text of messages that she regularly sends, to save her having to type it out every single time)
- emoji support - all the emojis on her phone are staying as text (e.g. etc) and any that she sends are not being received at my end.
Is there a fix for this? Or does anyone have a recommendation for a replacement SMS app that can do this?
Textra seems to be popular, but I have heard that it does not offer text templates. Chomp apparently offers text templates, but might be a bit heavy. Does Google Messages offer these features?
Many thanks,
Humphrey.
