Okay so I got the Android 11 update yesterday and the one big thing I'm missing is my ability to quicky take screenshots. I used to push and hold the power menu and I could take a screenshot. Does anyone know if there is a way to bring that back? I did find the moto option to hold 3 fingers on the phone but that seems like I'll accidentally trigger it.
Volume + power usually ends up with screenshots of my volume level or the phone locks.
I know this is a such a first world problem but
I know Android 11 changed screenshots. It's done from the recent apps screen. I haven't totally figured it out but search for "Android 11 screenshots" and you should find results explaining how to do screenshots.
You can also turn on '3 finger' screenshots in the settings menu. I've been using that for a while as it's much easier to take a shot without a volume menu in the pic
Ah try this.

HI...i am brand new to the forum...got my Gtablet the other day....upgraded firmware...so far without installing another Rom....i like the device...I am just checking to see if the 4 buttons on the right side..IE....SEARCH HOME MENU and BACK....should ALWAYS respond...OR if each only will respond depending on what is currently on yr screen....The HOME button ALWAYS seems to bring me to the home screen...the other 3 seem to respond ( or not ) depending on what is screen at the time....they device seems to work fine and the 4 buttons do respond do respond depending on what is on the screen at the time so i am assuming that the buttons physically so work ok.....id appreciate anyone's input....thanks a lot.....
From the user manual (http://www.viewsonic.com/gtablet/GTUG010411/G Tablet User Guide Rev Final 01.04.11.htm#_Toc281858063)
Home and Menu do different things depending upon what is running at the time:
IMPORTANT BUTTONS
On the right side of the LCD Screen there are 4 buttons.
1. SEARCH – Pressing the search button from the Home screen will bring up the Google search web site.
2. HOME – Pressing the Home button takes you back to either the Home screen or the Dashboard depending on which screen you were last in.
3. MENU – Pressing the menu button brings up different options based on the application running at the time.
4. BACK – Pressing the back button will always take you back to the previous window displayed.

so then depending on what is on the screen....is it likely that the ...say ...BACK or MENU button would not do anything...depending on what is on the screen at the time.....do others find that? Just making sure the unit doesnt have a defect...Thx

I have definitely seen this with the menu button.. can you give us an example of an app your are in where it is not working? someone can double-check on their tab...
I'm thinking BACK should always work. Are you having a consistent problem with it not working? Could it be sluggishness of the tablet?
Thanks for the replies gang....i just talked to Viewsonic and they indeed said that depending on what u have on yr screen at the time, certain buttons may not cause the screen to change.....such as if i am on my Classic home page and hit the HOME or MENU button....nothing will happen....if i hit the SEARCH button...it will change screens....and then...after going to the search page if i hit the BACK button.,....it will return to the CLASSIC HOME PAGE.......that all makes sense?
Kinda... need moar coffee first ....
After updating my GT-P5113 to Android 4.2.2, I've noticed we lost the screenshot button.
I have a rooted device, and after downloading several apps that take screenshots, the screenshots are all black. Yes, I know I can press power-volume down button, but I use the screenshot button often enough that I'm afraid I'll break those two buttons. Pressing those two buttons screenshot just fine, but using an app doesn't work. How do I fix this? Or is there something I can install to get that button back?
Thanks
I've tried following the few videos that were posted on Youtube. Holding down the Volume Down and Power buttons, but all I have pop up on the screen is the volume indicator. Is there some hidden setting, or could it be because I rooted it [which I doubt, but you never know]
Thanks in advance
Edit: I found the quick access button that I can add to the quick settings, but it's going to drive me nuts

I like the quick access button. But there is no secret to the Power + Volume Down, just pressing them at exactly the same time and holding down...works fine for me.
My Chromebook used to turn off the screen anytime I pressed the power button. I often use it to type notes during presentations, and I loved having a fast easy way to turn off the screen to save power if I knew I wouldn’t be typing anything for 5 or 10 minutes.
A few months ago, a ChromeOS update changed this so it only works it tablet mode now, pressing the power button in laptop mode now opens an on-screen menu with options to shutdown, log off, or lock screen. The best workaround I have found so far is to use the brightness keys to get the screen off, but it’s a pain to get it back to the right brightness level every time.
I have the Chromebook in developer mode, and I would like to do one of the following (in order from most to least preferred):
1. Restore power button functionality to how it was before.
2. Re-purpose the lock screen button on the keyboard for turning off the screen.
3. Add a keyboard shortcut to toggle the screen on and off.
4. Add a “Turn off screen” option to the current on-screen menu.
I never really modified ChromeOS before. Has anyone else done these things? Where should I begin? Thank you.
Here is some relevant documentation, maybe the information at the bottom is useful?:
https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromiumos/platform2/+/master/power_manager/docs/power_buttons.md
I was able to do it by adding the flag "--force-tablet-power-button" to /etc/chrome_dev.conf and restarting the UI, but changes to that file don't seem to persist accross system reboots.
edit: I used the instructions at the bottom of this page: http://www.chromium.org/developers/how-tos/run-chromium-with-flags
Anyone on the Android Pie Beta may have noticed the little * in the changelog telling you to disable Secure Startup.
If you were like me and assumed it would just be for the first boot after updating and re-enabled secure startup afterwords you may be facing this issue too where you can no longer use your phone because the screen is not coming on.
Luckily i found a pretty nice fix thanks to a user on Reddit HERE

I had this issue! There is a way to fix this!
You need to get Bixby set up blindly, and then ask to activate power saving mode, and turn it on. It'll lower the screen resolution and fix the issue. This is how I sorted it out.
I can post screenshots of what area to press, so you can get it set up.
Edit: Album with screenshots for Bixby, literally the one time it has come in handy, ahah!
By default, the navigation bar will be at the bottom, so find the home button, then move up slightly from there. After set up, ask Bixby to turn on power saving mode, then hit the area to confirm. After you have done this, do a reset of your settings in the menu, and it'll fix it. No factory restore needed. Hope this helps anyone.

Seems to be a bug with Android Pie + Secure Startup + a WQHD+ resolution.
So you need to change the resolution and then disable secure startup so it does not happen again.
I managed to get Bixby to enable power saving mode by unlocking the phone with my fingerprint, tapping the bixby key (you should be able to hear bixby welcome you) and tapping where the next arrow should be at the bottom center of the screen,
After this i held the Bixby Key and asked her to enable power saving, and then tapping apply (blind) near the bottom right of the screen.
