I'm still unsure whether or not I should go with LineageOS 14 or 13 and was wondering if you all could chip in with things I might have missed:
LineageOS 13
Pro
- All hardware works
Contra
- Only unofficial builds (for the moment)
- Based on Marshmallow
LineageOS 14
Pro
- Active development
- Based on Nougat
- Weekly builds
Contra
- Camera glitches/fc's
- Torch glitches
- no Xposed for Nougat
- Screenshare / Miracast doesn't work
Care to add points?
LineageOS 13
Pro
- Official builds are available here on the forum
LineageOS 14
Contra
- no Xposed for Nougat
- Screenshare / Miracast doesn't work
Sure those are official? The thread I've seen is labeled 'unofficial'
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/development/rom-cyanogenmod-13-t3431866
That's not Lineage OS
CyanogenMOD is dead and gone. LineageOS doesn't provide any LineageOS 13 builds (yet?)
Right. There's no official Lineage OS 13 ROM. But commits are being actively merged and it's still being developed as of today. Unofficial isn't all that different.
True enough, sooner or later official builds will come but today, that's not the case yet, so I'm sticking with unofficial builds only (for now)
Hello, I am developing lineage 13 for the wiko wax, the build goes fine, but when I boot the rom, it reboots in recovery. Looking at last_kmsg, my phone only supports sepolicy up to version26 and lineageos 13 is version 30. So the question is how do I get about supporting sepolicy version 30?

There are several sources to download official firmwares for your device as listed below:
- Frija (Tool)
- SamFrew
- SamFirm (Tool)
- SamMobile
- Updato
Flashing stock firmwares with Odin v3
First of all, download an official stock firmware from one of the sources mentioned above.
Make sure you select the correct variant and region for your device! (e.g. Device: SM-A520F, Region: DBT (Germany))
If you don't know your device variant, go to settings > phone info or reboot to donwload (odin) mode.
Now let's getting started:
1. Download Odin v3.13.1
2. Download and install latest Samsung USB drivers (skip this if you have drivers installed already)
3. Extract your downloaded firmware to a new folder
4. Open Odin as administrator (right click > run as admin)
5. In BL tab add BL_....tar.md5
6. In AP tab add AP_....tar.md5
7. In CP tab add CP_....tar.md5
8. In CSC tab add CSC_....tar.md5* or HOME_CSC_....tar.md5*
9. Turn off your device
10. Now boot your device to download mode by press and hold volume down + home + power button
11. Connect your device to your PC
12. If you see a blue box (e.g. [0]:COM7) or "Added!!" text in Odin then you're ready to flash the firmware**
13. Hit start button
14. Wait until you see "PASS" in Odin
15. Disconnect your device and enjoy your new firmware.
* CSC_...tar.md5 has a partition (pit) table inside which means your data partition gets wiped if you choose this tar. Use HOME_CSC...tar.md5 if you want keep all your data.
** If you don't see any added message or blue box then samsung drivers are not proper installed.

Hey guys,
I am facing an issue of compatibility, is there a way to instal and run Nougat only compatible apk on a Pie ?
Phone is redmi note 8, but it's irrelevent because it needs to be instaled on many different ends
Thanks
An app developer defines for each app the versions of Android between Minimum SDK Version and Target SDK Version it is compatible with. If Target SDK Version is set to 25 ( Nougat ) then app wont work on Android Pie ( Target SDK Version = 28 ).
hi iam a normal kenzo user i love to use customs roms as they were stylish and smooth but from past 1 year there is no devlopement for kenzo , the device is left with unofficia linage os with android 11 . as the processor and performance is still average than a budget redmi 9a . and i could say this with no doubt that this device could run android 12 because if the redmi 3s/x could run android 12 why cant this 2016 beast could i hope that some developers would port android 12 for this so this device could be alive thanks

hi I'm working on android 12 for kenzo but it doesn't work because kenzo has a kernel below 4.9 i.e. 3.10 which is already end of life, I'm trying to make a backport for the kenzo kernel and it hasn't worked but I'm sure there is still hope to boot kenzo on android 12 because the backport has been found on mi max (hydrogen) which has the same specifics and source code but the mi max developer has not released the latest kernel source to the public.

Android 12 kenzo will be difficult to make unlike redmi 3s/x which is easy to make why can redmi 3s/x boot on Android 12? yes because redmi 3s/x has a cpu type, the same source code as redmi 5a riva, redmi note 5a ugg lite and redmi note 5a prime ugg which has the same linux kernel which is 4.9 which fulfills android 12 requirements. unlike kenzo and kate which born with a linux kernel 3.10 which really can't boot android 12 unless it backports the kernel, so don't compare redmi note 3 pro kenzo with redmi 3s land they are different. if you ask about android 12 kenzo is real or not, yes android 12 kenzo is real because mi max has booted on android 12 even android 13 why not kenzo. but that dream has not been realized because the backport has not been found yet. just wait, some kenzo developers are working hard to build it, it's not an easy job. I could easily backport the kernel but it would damage some of the kernel cores and it's useless, seeing the difference between Linux 4.9 and 4.4 which has several commits that are very different even though the release isn't far away how about the old 3.10. Kenzo isn't dead yet. Never talk about Android 12 Kenzo because it's still too early for you to ask and ask to wait for the stable Android 11 Kenzo build first.
Magicxavi who has pretty much singlehandedly kept development for Kenzo alive in the last 2 years has mentioned that he intends to bringup A12 for it. Unfortunately due to Putin's folly he is not able to work on it due to obvious reasons.

I just checked this hydrogen lineage is 20 rom it is using kernel v 3.10 , I think it is possible to boot Android 12 on Linux kernel 3.10
[GUIDE] Porting Kernel Source to Snapdragon Device
Some OEMs violating GPL licenses and won't publish linux kernel sources for their Android devices. On this post I’ll explain how to port kernel source to any android device. Maybe you can port kernel sources to other SoCs with similiar ways but...

Iam currently using this guide to port the kernel to kenzo/katr but failed and had to reflash miui
Can't just try to port the vendor of mi max or Sony xperia x

The even older Redmi 1s running 3.4 kernel has an A13 ROM available albeit not usable as a daily driver for now. A12 build seems stable.
Instead of A12 or A13 update for Kenzo I would think most users would be happy to have A10/11 builds with updated security patches. But it seems most devs have abandoned the device.

This is really the greatest news i have heard in a lot of time!! I am actually a kenzo user and i don't have any other phone, and the android 11 roms I have used had some bugs. It would be the most helpful thing ever for me to have an android 12 and 13 rom for it!! Thanks a lot!
recently i tried booting a android 11 phh gsi on kenzo via unofficial project treble support and boom it booted up so i think like this we could boot a12/13 also (will keep updating on this experiment later ) but the problem is there is no a12/13 gsi on a-only partition style

#RIPKenzo
Kenzo has died just switch your phone man no one seems to be interested for booting a12
According to Magicxavi, A12 will be the last Android OS update for Kenzo due to kernel requirements.
Off-topic: It seems that custom ROM development might stall in the future. I had expected GKI might make it easier but that doesn't seem to be the case. Very, very few SD8/8+ G1 devices received any custom ROM support. Only the S22 series AFAICT. Custom ROMs are available for Pixel 6 and 7 series but they are Tensor based. Asus Zenphone 9 only a custom kernel. At least the initial issue with compiling GKI kernel has been resolved.
