I have an Archos 43 that I downgraded the firmware to 2.1.8 to get the device rooted just for adding arabic support to it , but now I'm having a problem not being able to modify the permission of the files even though the device is rooted.
so please tell me what should I do to get full root permission .

What method did you use for root? If it was Archangel, then you don't have full root.

How did you obtain root?
Did you use ArcAngel?
Then you will not be able to do that as all the Systemfiles are in a readonly squashfs.
Why don't you use UrukDroid?
It's the only possibility for you to do what you want to do.

If you're using normal android os, the urukdroid root has no effect at you
and if you've root some files are still locked, you've to run the chmod command
Is there any way to root a device in a way that the user only has write permissions on a few files, while all other files in the system folder would still be protected? Specifically, I ONLY want to access build.prop. Alternatively, is there a way to change the contents of a system file without rooting at all? Kind of like flashing a zip but without booting into recovery?
Nope. Just temp root instead of perma root if thats the case.
Just wondering, would it be possible to pull the hosts file modify it and push it back without rooting the device ?, ( so u wont lose warenty just for modifying 1 file, sins i got no use for root on the device yet... )
Nope..lol don't think so, if you trying to modify a file then you obviously have a need for root
can we edit build.prop with ADB without unlock and without root the HH? if so, any guide?

no you cant. you need root access to have privileges to edit build.prop
Is it possible to edit file permissions of voltage_max file located in sys/class/power_supply/battery via TWRP? In TWRP's File Manager I can only get to battery and no further. It's seemingly shown as a file instead of a folder.
And more importantly if its possible will the tweaked file permissions stick after booting into the ROM? I know with root access it's easy just wanted to know if via recovery it can be accomplished w/o root or not?
