Its subjective design. For me, it's NO, and I prefer pixel 5 design

I like the new design, maybe too weird for now but still looking good
I like the design, what I'm personally disappointed in, especially where they've made the 2 models so close in size, is that they didn't go larger on the Pro version... instead of 6.7"...go for the gusto... especially where is older folks, like to read our Newspaper subscription's on our phones...make it 6.9" like the possibly extinct, Note Plus...
Or you know what, lead instead of following, make the Pro version 7 inches...

Supply issues might be at work causing problems here. It's not just chips, it's everything that gets shipped to and from major ports overseas, and snowballs from there. I'm tempering my expectations for every new product everywhere.

I get the want big but at some point, You just have to get the hell off the phone and goto a lappy, tablet or DT. It's always a trade-off between readability and portability. I'm ok with portable.

What to expect from pixel 6, will it bring some new useful features?
Does Magisk work on the Pixel 6.
Just kidding... Lol
Google Pixel 6 is powered by the company’s new custom-built chip Google Tensor. i am waiting of october 19 for launch google pixel 6.
Crediblebh
i have had every pixel in the series. More recently my wife is now on the a series. She had the 3a and i just got her the 5a. I myself have the 5 but i only got the 5 because i had the 4 which was a great phone but i work in a job to forces me to wear a mask all day so i needed the fingerprint reader. I decided to go with the pixel 6 and not the pro for now. if i like the 6 and tensor is all they say it is then in a few months i will get a pro and give my wife the 6. and make the 5a a backup. It is always a good idea to have a backup. especially because i don't always have the money to put up to get a replacement right away.
Hey does anyone know what type of fingerprint reader is in the 6? Is it optical or ultra sonic? I assume optical

Is pixel 6 root procedure already out?
Hello all and thanks for all your great suggestions and ideas in advance. I am a Pixel 2 XL owner and recently I got the Pixel 6.
In the past in order to unlock the "hotspot" wireless tethering functionality all I needed to do was:
Root the device (Android 11 | Pixel 2 XL)
Edit the "net.tethering.noprovisioning=true"
Done,
Sure there is a need to install an editor e.g.; builddrop editor app, that will allow making the change on the Android 11 OS.
I come to the forum with the question, what will be the requirement for the new Pixel 6 with Android 12?
Thank you very much in advance.

Which one should i get? They're roughly the same price in my country. I need a phone for at least 2-3years.
Well depends what you want from your phone.
I see a lot of advantages on the OP6.
The SD845 overall performance seems to be better than the Kirin 970, you have the option of 255GB for internal storage, besides the software is less intrusive style wise but also functionality wise.
But, the Mate has better cameras, it's a Android Enterprise Recommended phone, that means that you will get at least one security patch every 90 days for 2 years at least and at least 1 major OS update.
Other hardware features are better water protection and USB 3.0.
That said OnePlus track record of updating isn't that bad, but there's no promises from their side.
And last but not least, if you have any desire to do stuff with custom roms, rooting, etc... You'll wanna go OnePlus.
oneplus updating is spectacular.
I have the 3T and The 5T and both are still updated at least twice a month.
If battery life is the main concern, then the Mate 10 Pro may well be the better bet. I can get consistent 6+ hours of Screen on Time and mostly a full day of hard usage. It's about the only thing keeping me from staying with my M10P though. I got a deal that means I will pay significantly less for it than an upfront OP6 too. It may well be that the Mate 10 Pro will drop further as we get towards the Mate 20 launch in October.
The camera is good, but tends to over do the processing when in auto mode. It does have one of the best Pro modes though if you like to fiddle.
If you do get a Mate 10 Pro, make sure its a C432 model or one of the ones that are regularly updated - my C782 model is still on March 1st security update and I have no confidence that will improve once the Mate 20 is out.
If you have any interest in custom ROMS after that 2 years when you still have perfectly functioning hardware, then OnePlus is almost certainly the way to go - it seems to be one of the few flagships left that has a very active ROM development and Huawei have now shot down any claim to interest in that by withdrawing bootloader unlock.
I 'upgraded' from a OnePlus One running an 8.1 custom ROM that had worked perfectly except for the poor battery life - until it fell in the toilet! (Actually a replacement speaker later and it's still working fine and on a later version of Android that my M10P). There will certainly be options to run the latest software on a OnePlus 6 in 3 years, whereas you will likely be out of luck with the Mate 10 Pro. The camera sucked on the OPO, but I gather it is at least acceptable on the OP6
Software may not be a key concern - actually I can live with EMUI and it has some nice extra 'assistance' touches, but it also has flaky bluetooth in my experience and the over eager power management drives me crazy trying to use things like Tasker.
tl;dr - If you need the battery, go with Mate 10 Pro - if you don't care about the best camera possible, or ever want to go the custom rom route, go with OP6.
One plus 6 hands down, save your self the head ache of Huawei

For a price difference like that Mate 10 pro
didnt use OPO but did use xiaomi mi note 2 phone and now bought mate 10 pro, I also didnt know and have second thoughts about buying OPO 6 or M10pro. so at the end bought M10pro and so far can say the phone is ok but considering rooting installing TWRP and custom roms seems to be little complicated because, after reading xda, bunch of people have bricked they device. now I like to have rooted phone and installed custom rom, lineage os or Aosp extended, but that is not gona happen on this phone so if you like to have rooted phone and have custom roms buy OPO6 definitely, its not everyting in camera. PS emui is quite lagy some times and still needs improvement.
if it matters... the op5t has bluetooth issues with fitbit, not sure if op6 changed but likely issues remain
not sure if fitbit would make a difference, but who knows what other devices may or may not work well. op5t also has issues with car bluetooth, mate10 has none of the issues with the two devices.

I also bought the mate10pro, big mistake! It was on a pre 8.0.0.146 version with magisk and twrp running fine. Installed xposed, got a bootloop, did a erecovery rescue to factory emui 8, after that applied the latest ota to emui 9 which was the worst thing to do. Got the new bootloader and because the original was unlocked the phone bricked. Back to erecovery and no rescue... tried everything but no luck, so now it's worthless. It may have a very niche leica camera but that won't do any good if you can't recovery the phone. Huawei sucks in every way, just look at how they killed any development other than their own.
So now I ordered the OP 6 which has a very shiny development community, I won't have any worries about being stuck with another paperweight, and if I want a good camera I'll pickup my nikon fullframe dslr, no phone beats that.
I wouldnt go with Huawei if you rely on mods. No real custom rom beside openkirin. No real custom kernel. V4A not working, Dolby Atmos works only on oreo based custom roms. You dont get unlock code from Huawei anymore. You can grab your unlock code via paid services. Alone, when the partition oeminfo gets damaged and your bootloader is locked, your unlock code will not work, erecovery will not work etc DC could fix such bricks but now after the .b145 c432 firmware, they patched it. After B146 you cant downgrade. No real/outdated kernel sources. I recommend this device only for normal conusmers, who dont intend to root this phone. I left Samsung because of adding the knox warranty void string, now leaving Huawei because of the reason I told above.
Oneplus phones have very high SAR values... Be careful
Mate 10 (non-pro) would really last you 2-3yrs because amoled burn (it really is an issue) wouldn't affect you.
I have a mate 10 (non pro) I am trying to sell. Mint condition with the fancy smart flip case. I have a note 9 now so don't need it. Currently has an armorsuit clear skin on it.

Some years later, a reply. YES, I went to OP6 (I still have it working) and later to OP7pro (also still working) and now I'm on OP8 with AICP17.1 (android 12) fully loaded, rooted all working perfectly. Never regretted the change to OnePlus, excellent value for money and excellent support community, very recommendable for custom roms etc. If ever you brick it (happend a few times to me) you get your MSMtool out and bring it back to life in no time.
btw, my mate10pro was still within guarantee, so I sent it back to the seller, took a few months because they tried to recover it, didn't work and I got a full refund.
Hey guys, new to all this so go easy on me. Over the past few years I have become a bit of a tech fanatic. I like to get a phone, use for a few months then sell on while it retains value. I'm March I got the S9 Plus coming from a Note 8 and from that coming from an S8 Plus. I love Samsung through heaven and earth but have become slightly bored with their design and UI. I have been strongly considering the Huawei P20 Pro and the OnePlus 6. Can I have your thoughts please? I have read/watch so many reviews on the P20 Pro and it's seems amazing the lag is the main issue as I do now want it. I don't game, I use a phone for emails, text, whatsapp, web browsing, Twitter, Instagram etc. ?
Why not ask in those forums? This is the Galaxy S9+ forums.

If you are bored of s9 plus UI then undoubtedly you would definitely get bored of Huwawei's EMUI(yup, has bit of lags as well) and Note 9 UI will be the same as S9 plus(with slightly added refinement of samsung experience) . So as per your question and requirement, you are left with OP6. OxyGenOS is a well thought - out one with some nifty features. The OTAs bring bug sometimes but overall its a, fast fluid experience without bells and whistles.

Except coming from an S9 plus the OP6 is missing some key features.
Sd card slot.
Ip68 rating
Wireless charging
Stereo speakers (although there is a mod for this).
Sure the device is cheaper and some may not care about those features but once you have grown accustomed to them very difficult to give up!
For example, me i dont really care about the IP68 rating but will not purchase any device without the other 3 listed.

True. Had the OP asked for a comparison I could go on and on including your points. But it seems he is bored of Samsung UI, design and trying to choose in bet^n P20 Pro and OnePlus 6. Also based on his additional requirements, I can assure that he would get a pleasant experience with the OP6.

Why won't you just install another launcher on the S9+? That should give you plenty of options to configure how the phone looks. Not all will change of course, but how many time do you spend in the phone's menu's
I had the Mate 10 Pro and P20, had issues with screen dimming on both phones on most all apps, great phones aside from the screen dimming. The screen would dim a couple of seconds after launching any app.
This bothered me to the point of switching to the S9 Plus, if you want a phone that works like its supposed to the S9 is it. Nothing beats the Samsung screens and design. It just works...
I had Mate10 non pro (now stolen, it was a fine Phone, but cam was not naturally for people.).
After them, my old Oneplus 3 (happy with Miui ROM),
then a Xiaomi MiA1 (boring stock Android), then MiMix2s (really good phone, but missing Netflix HD. For me Netflix HD is Import cuz i have 1:10h Train every day).
Now i got the S9+, this is the best package and also the best compromisse!
I've been also a true Samsung user for a long time and getting kinda tired of limitless samsung features and services that prevent the phone from being super snappy and eat up batterytime. Flashed Resurrection Remix ROM on the G-965F and it gave a complete different feeling i.e. near and dear to my liking but still not found a cam mod that works in portrait mode. Rooting, flashing ROMs and the like don't come without sacrifices.:cyclops:
Owning both G-965F and G-9650 models for months now and Pixel 3 XL/OnePlus 6T are in my wish-bucket list.
I had the P20 Pro and sold it mostly because I could get the S9+ for 400$ new. It has its fair share of quirks....It is noticeable laggier than the S9+ and the camera was not great when just trying to point and shoot. You could take great photos with it, but you had to fiddle with it every time to get the shot right.
The battery life is absolutely phenomenal though. The battery could easily last me 2 days. Huawei also has the same problem as Samsung though, and it is a big one for me, updating in a timely fashion.
I am waiting for the Oneplus 6t and Pixel 3 XL and will most likely be switching to one of those and giving the S9+ to my son when I do.
What do you guys think? Worth an upgrade or stick to the Mate 20 Pro?
http://www.slashleaks.com/l/huawei-mate-30-pro-oficial-promotional-picture
I'm not upgrading that frequently anymore I don't think. This phone is already super smooth and does everything I need. Plus it'll be getting q soon.
mate20 pro, first and last huawei for me
I'll keep the 20 for at least one and a half year. Don't see much of a reason to upgrade yearly nowadays.
In my opinion I think Huawei make a good product and compete well with the best out there including Samsung and Apple. Unfortunately until we know for certain their US related issues and Android relationship in the long run, I don't think it's worth investing your top dollar on their flagship. For me this may be my first and last flagship from Huawei. I would definitely jump back again if everything has been clear and certain.
rooted mate 20 pro here, don't think there will be bootloader unlock codes for the mate 30 pro, i'll stick to the mate 20 pro and then i'll maybe get the note 11
If it's as bad ass as the Mate 20 Pro was at launch, and the price is right, then yes. Otherwise, I'll just hang on to my Mate 20 Pro a bit longer.

AOSP and no Google would be a dream for many here (GApps can always be installed if needed), and the removal of a lot of the EMUI & Google cruft would be awesome.
No point buying a phone of this value if it doesn't come with the essential Google apps.
Pixel 4 XL or Xperia 2 here I come
I am happy with the Mate 20 pro, I would jump ship if real life reviews (not the reviews given by you tubers which are handed the devices by Huawei for the purpose of "coloured" reviews) confirm a major upgrade on the camera's over the Mate 20 pro. I came from the Mate 10 and the camera on the Mate 10 gives me sometimes pictures like a oil painting, not happy with its camera so the upgrade to the Mate 20 pro was huge.
Going back on topic, as much as I dislike Apple, Samsung and google and their policies - being realistic they are all out there to sell their product and Huawei is not different and going in the same direction like Apple and co I welcome the opportunity of showing google they are not the only ones out there (except for Apple) offering an operating system for mobile devices. I would love to see an alternative. I believe I have to see in how far I can live without google services and how expensive the phone is. I believe it would be a matter of time before developers have alternatives for the major applications. I will follow closely the development on this subject, by the time the Mate 30 pro has reached an affordable price I am willing to spend we will know where we stand concerning google and its possibilities. So time will tell.

Hello All,
I am planning to buy oneplus 7t pro in upcoming sale. Is it worth going for? How is the custom from development support for this device ?
I know its already a year old device but if development support is good then I can expect at least till Android 13 for this device.
How is the device itself first ?

Custom rom support are not that great for 7tp.....but you will get android 13 for sure.. great phone ..better than op 8... only problem is less better camera than 8 series...and custom rom support is dying day by day... it's very unfortunate that Google is trying to take control over android security.. that's why 7t and 7t pro has no twrp with the ability to decrypt data in twrp recovery.so now it's you who has to take decision...
Sent from my HD1910 using Tapatalk
I bought the same model just a week ago because it was a great value today UNDER 600 dollars and it ticked all the boxes for what I basically wanted. I have a P30 Pro as well, and while I'd say it gets better battery life overall and that the camera can take better shots in SOME conditions, the gap isn't really that great. Most of the shots I've A/B with random people have chosen the OP7T Pro shots over the P30 Pro. It does get better brightness at night, but the details are lacking and seem over-processed. The P30 Pro definitely has a faster shutter.
After much deliberation I just received mines yesterday. I had a Mi 9 SE which was ghost touching on me so I had to change over asap. Figured I'd give OnePlus another go, I'd owned the one, the two, and now the 7t pro.
Really happy with the decision so far, just need to get used the massive size. Runs kinda hot tho, but that just maybe because I've been using it quite intensely for the last day or 2.
I'm happy with the decision.
I am also thinking of buying the 7T PRO or the Redmi K300 Pro ZOOM edition.
I am currently using a S8 PLUS and I would like a better camera.
I was supposed to get the S20 FE 5G but in my country Samsung only released the Exynos variant.

You'll probably get more software updates with the OnePlus. That's what tipped it for me.

A better camera is more important to me than future software updates.
Would you still recommend the 7T Pro over the K30 PRO zoom edition?

Haven't seen that model or used it, so I couldn't comment, but I can compare it to the P30 Pro I own. I'd say that the P30 camera is better in 70 percent of photo scenarios, but it does lack detail often. The P30 tends to over-sharpen images and smooth faces too much, even without portrait features on, whereas the OP7TPro does tend to have more noise in low-light, but produces a more accurate rendering of color and better fine detail, ironically.

Which device would you consider to have the best custom development/ROM support?
Thanks

Oneplus One! ?
I moved back to 7T Pro from OP8. It was a great decision in my opinion. I hated the punch hole. the 7T Pro checks all the boxes for me.

HTC HD2 had em all lol
I'm also looking to buy a 7T Pro but I would like McLaren international edition for use in the US. Any one have any suggestion on where to get one in the US? If I was to buy a CN edition off Alibaba could I easily flash it to the international rom?
Planning to buy it also because it has nice hardware (no hole on the screen), and supports LineageOS.

If you want a device just like the 7T pro but with far more rom support as well as extended custom development, then Id go for the 7 Pro. Both are pretty much the same device, except youd be more satisifed with 7 Pro as it has a much larger community surrounding it and there's alot of things you can mod on the device without having to deal with the new android 10 dynamic partitioning that made TWRP not fully functional on the 7T pro
Wifi + bluetooth unstable connection
I bought the phone too.
So far everything is fine - except wifi stability issues (seems to be affected by bluetooth being on).
I don't understand how this still can be a thing. I read posts about this model having this problem a year ago.
How is this possible?
I did update the phone to the 10.0.12.HD01BA and tried all the suggested solutions (reseting network settings, switching airplane mode on and off.... one thing I haven't tried is factory reset) yet the problem still persist, it's occassional, but.... I'm still kind of disappointed.
For my part I had the 7pro and now I have the 7T pro and the 2 are very good ... I must say that I still have some frustration from the 7t pro, less good battery and twrp which is not 100% functional which gave me some headaches for the rest it is like the 7pro the best device i have had, for those who wonder why i got the 7 pro and the 7t pro? Between the 2 I decided to try the samsung note 10 plus ... but what a bad choice lolll and I had already sold my 7 pro so I wanted to try the 7T pro.
I have just bought OP7TPro today. It runs like a champ. Only not so good thing is camera. But GCam blew me way. Definitely a great buy if the price is right.
Hey guys, looking for your opinions...I currently have an s22 base rooted should I swap to the pixel 6?any of you done the same?how is the pixel once rooted and tinkered with (kernel change and the usual)
For new Pixel 6, not pro, owners- what phone are you coming from?
I'm in the mix to possibly buy a P6 , but I'm curious what phone you're leaving behind. Plus, how has the new phone compared or not?

This thread might help a bit.

Absolutely. I did and would never go back. The only gripe I have is the lack of fast charging
