LG Wing 5G Network option activation - LG Wing Guides, News, & Discussion

Thanks to paolotheking and this thread about an important secret code for the Velvet and other devices:
LG Velvet Hidden Menu code
Enjoy: #*462633*#900# Works with G900EM
forum.xda-developers.com
I could finally activate the 5G network capability of both my LG Velvet and LG Wing, European versions.
I have an Italian (ITC) genuine SIM unlocked Wing LM-F100EMW with latest Android 10 V10k-EEA-XX installed.
If you hit with the phone dialpad this sequence:
#*462633*#100#
it will lead you to a hidden menu where you can find all sort of information and tweaking options.
You have to choose "Field Test", then "Modem settings". You will have here many things you can change. Go to "RAT Selection", "SIM 1 Mode" (if you have only 1 SIM or if it's the one you want to go up to 5G speeds), it will give you many more options than the ones you find under the regular "Network settings".
So I then hit the "GSM/WCDMA/LTE/NR5G" option. I now have up to 5G automatic network selection!
Only issue is that under the regular Mobile Network settings, "Preferred network" states now "26" and if I want to see what other options you have, it only lists the options up to 4G preferred and it will go back to 4G maximum if you choose it. So you have to go through the hidden menu again to activate it.
I also tested that if you power off the phone, 5G maximum stays activated when you power on the phone again, good to know.
You may also try to tweak your 5G bands by selecting them in the corresponding menu "Band Selection" in the "Field Test", "Modem Settings" menu. Some of them might not really work though, as it might be hardware related depending on your model.
Hopefully it can help people finally being able to use the 5G network of their provider with the Wing, Velvet, and possibly other LG 5G phones like the V50(S) and V60. You just have to put your model number at the end of the secret code ...#900# for the Velvet, ...#510# for the V50S ...#100# for the Wing, aso, if I understood it good.
Enjoy!

I tried your suggestion above but field test is missing on my device (LM-F100N, unlocked SKT model). Any suggestions?

Thanks for the write-up. I gave it a try on United States Verizon model. It appears that we do not have hidden menu functionality. I typed
#*462633*#100#
In the dialer.
This all look correct?

Interesting, this means that the carrier specific models, for Korea at least, don't offer the Field Test option. We have a discussion in a thread about the V50S eith the same issue (another secret code on this model for the hidden menu).
You can try 5457#*100# that works for the V50S to enter another menu where you can tweak frequency bands, preferred network, etc. The code might be different for the korean Wing / Velvet though. You might have to search the web or xda and try the different codes you find. Just remember to always use the LG dialpad to enter them, it won't work on the google telephone app for example, or at least it doesn't work on the V50S SKT that I have.
Do you have the up to 5G preferred option available under the Network settings? This option is available for the V50S but the problem is more about the 5G frequencies available on this model. It uses the n78 band that we eventually will have here in Europe, but it doesn't have the n28 5G band that is starting to be available in most of Europe. And no way to activate anything from the above mentioned hidden menu.

Code is right, but for the Verizon model probably not. Try to search the web/xda for secret codes on LG Verizon recent models. Usually the last number in the code is your phone model number (100 for the Wing). So change the last number of the code to 100 before trying the code on the wing. And use the genuine LG phone dialpad to enter the code!
Let us know if you find any useful code, it might help other Verizon users.

The code works, the 5g preferred option is also available. However, I still can't seem to get a 5g signal even though all networks in my country are using the n78 band. Is there a possibility that SKT has locked the 5g frequency, even though I could use LTE? This variant also has a dual sim tray but looks like it was disabled.

Has anyone tried flashing other regions firmware using edl mode?

Thanks so much for this Vuche, I was finally able to activate 5g on my phone after months of trying - I had thought it was an issue with my unit or my network.
Why in the world did LG put this behind a secret menu??

Hi Vuche,
When I first tried this, it worked perfectly and I was very happy. But recently I was wondering, hmm I've not seen 5g recently, and I realised that whenever I reboot the phone, it reverts to becoming 4g only
Do you have any tips on settings I could change to make it permanent? I'm not sure why it stays after reboot for you, but not for me.

Yes, I.'ve had the same thing happening on both Velvet and Wing, and I think it has started with one or the latest firmware update.
Apparently LG is following our threads here on XDA and really don't want us to have a good experience with their Last mobile phones...

I just dont understand why a phone marketed as 5g, has that option hidden away!!
Do you think there's anything in the hidden menu that could make the 5g function permanent? (I'm not sure how you discovered that menu in the first place?)

It might be that there's some faulty/unfinished hardware used in our phones. Or it's a financial issue, like a licence fee. Whatever the reason, they might unlock everything soon, ...or never!
I use a projector at home (not LG) and I won't buy their TV's anyway. But one answer to their policy could be not buying their other products anymore. They are bad at marketing anyway, so they might die by themselves. Too bad though, they have very creative engineers!

You have apparently an SKT (South Korea Telecom) model. It doesn't seem to offer you the possibility to activate other 5G bands than the n78. In Europe for example, n28 and n78 are usually used by network providers. The n28 is the most commonly used band as it's easy to upgrade from 4G LTE and it works on larger areas. n78 is mainly used in densely populated city as it works on a higher frequency.
But don't worry, 4G/4G+ is still fast enough until they develop the n78 band further out. At least compared to n28 speed.

Possibly unrelated but does this mean I can use an International AT&T unlocked Wing LM-F100VM on TMobile for example? I bought what was claimed to be network unlocked, "just throw in a SIM card and it'll work on any network" but entering the IMEI onto TMO's website and talking to their chat people tell me that basically 5G won't work :-/
International phone working on US networks?
So back in the day I used to bake my own ROM's and whatnot but I haven't done that kind of stuff in years. I finally upgraded from a Sprint SM-N900P Note 3 to an AT&T LM-F100VM LG Wing that I bought off eBay. Took the Wing to T-Mobile today and...

LG G5 on LTE

It turns out that the LG G5 version 831 on Freedom Mobile, does NOT have the Automatic LTE mode under network options. The phone itself will work on Freedoms, Ottawa LTE Network. However, it has to be manually set when you want to use it. I do this by typing into the keypad *#546368#*831#. This brings up a hidden menu, and allows you to set your LTE band manually. Until I can figure out a solution for this, I made a short cut
for the code. I saved the code into my phone as a contact, then I just to go *#54 and the phone goes, oh! did you mean this number ? Then shows the saved code, which I select and it automatically goes into the menu for me. I've talked to LG Reps and several store and phone reps for Freedom, and nither of where even aware of this code. I guess the one extreme measure I could do, is root the phone and install a firmware that has the LTE option availble already.

Problem Solved

Hi, this is the third time I send an email to LG support and hope I get real support istead of being unprofessionally dealt with or simply ignored due to incapability of the service personnel.
I have encountered a LTE network problem after messing something up in the engineering mode by pressing *#546368#*998# on the dialing interface (after reading this thread from XDA: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/help/us998-hidden-menu-lg-v30-v30-t3719219/page1)
I was just curious to find out all the LTE band numbers my phone supports. But after messing up with the menus, LTE network on my phone collapsed. I am quite hopeless Now since reset did not work at all.
apn set and problem solved.
why cannot post the full content
My question is how to restore the original parameters in the hidden menu of US998?

In that same hidden menu mode, I saw network reset choices. Not in the LTE bands section, but a neighboring section. Find it and see if that works.

Android 11 and no 5G (V600EA20c_00_COM1_EU_OP_0219)

Hi all
i upgraded my LG V60 with 3 different android 11, the polish, the VDI italian and the V600EA20c_00_COM1_EU_OP_0219, and all 3 have no 5G.
Is there any solution?
Also, with the 2 first roms, the second screen is detected but does not show up.
Any hints?
More info. With this official rom V600EA20c_00_COM1_EU_OP_0219, the second screen is not detected at all. So it is getting worse ;-)
I found a solution that works
dial this to acces hidden menu:
*#546368#*600#
You have to choose "Field Test", then "Modem settings". You will have here many things you can change. Go to "RAT Selection", it will give you many more options than the ones you find under the regular "Network settings".
I tested here first "LTE(5G NSA) Auto" and it instantly made the 5G icon appear in the task bar! So I then hit the "GSM/WCDMA/LTE(5G NSA) Auto" option. I now have up to 5G automatic network selection!
Thank you for this information. I am on Cosmote network and I tried it but 5G logo didn't appear. For both "LTE(5G NSA) Auto" and "GSM/WCDMA/LTE(5G NSA) Auto" options on Adndorid 10 regions POC, SWC was popping up a window with "success" click ok but on all Android 11 regions SWC, NLD, VDI, TMO was returning a "failed" error. I tried 5G wardriving while commuting to work with Netmonster app, but didn't see any 5G antenna on the list. I'll need to try in city center where I know the 5G coverage is dense but I'm sure there is 5G in my area.
Keep in mind that TM firmware was showing me 5G on 4G network but Netmonster informed me that it is a false positive explaining what's going on. Can you verify you get 5G speeds on speedtest?
Most importantly what firmware did you use?
EDIT: still no 5G on any firmware I tried in my region.

Question How to enable 5G band 40

(base on GSMARENA)
This phone support the following 5G bands:
5G bands 1, 3, 28, 41, 77, 78 SA/NSA
however, my current phone sim need to utilize the Band 40, n257/n258 for 5G,
anyone know how to enable or activate these bands? Is there any MTK engineering software for this purpose?

I'd like to help but I'm not sure if the solution I would use would fit your needs and capabilities.
The (apparently secretly hidden) Android Activity it calls is apparently
com.samsung.android.app.telephonyui.hiddennetworksetting.MainActivityBased on what a free google free ad free gsf free shortcut inspector says
Activity Inspector
Having said that, I can bring up the HIDDEN Activity that allows you to select the bands available on the phone by calling the activity directly.
C:\> adb shell am start -n com.samsung.android.app.telephonyui.hiddennetworksetting.MainActivity
They even make apps that do that for you such as this one.
Network Mode Universal
See my screenshots below for my phone.
Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for your suggestion. I have tried all these and found:
Network mode universal - this is similar to *#*#4636#*#* for phone information.
Shortcut Widgets (+ Inspector), nothing shown in POCO X3Gt for band. it "maybe" work on your Samsung phone. Could not find any band information.
However, when get into *#*#3646633#*#* Developer option, it shows bands as attached photos, the Band 40 is greyed, no possible to enable it.

My response will be in two posts because I don't want to confuse you with the response about "Shortcut Widgets" so I'll take that separately as it's really useful only as a final step.
As for the band B40 being grayed, out, that is a problem.
My only experience with this band selection is on my phone, where nothing that is listed is grayed out. That is, for example, I don't have Band B28 on the phone (AFAIK) but that band is not listed either.
What I have that is listed, as far as I know, can each be checked.
So the fact you can't check a band that is listed, is really, I think, the problem all of the users here have to put our heads together to figure out why that is the case.
I don't know why you can't select Band B40 even though it's listed.
I can only suggest tests you can run to perhaps figure out why.
a. Anyone else with the same phone could run that test for you.
(Let's hope someone with that same phone will see this request.)
b. Maybe you can try one or two other "band selection" apps?
(This would eliminate it being a bug in that specific program.)
c. But the real problem may simply be the phone hardware doesn't support that band.
(I don't know any way around that.)

Ah. I think I figured out what I'm doing differently from you since *#*#4636#*#* doesn't work on my T-Mobile Samsung (we really need someone to test this using the same phone you have!).
My Samsung has its own app from that same outfit I referred you to
Network Mode Samsung
I'm guessing that your "network mode universal" is (maybe) giving you a list of all possible bands but (maybe) not just the bands on your phone alone like my "network mode samsung" is apparently doing for me.
If you can find a network mode app for your specific phone, that may show just the bands you need... but... you already ran the *#*#4636#*#* dial-code to bring up the hidden activity I think... so you may already have seen that the dial-code you gave probably brought up only the bands which are available to you.
Hope this helps. I'm NOT an expert in this. I would hope others with the SAME phone as you have can confirm our suspicions or prove them wrong (better yet).

At this point you don't need Shortcut Widgets + Inspector, as it's only useful to find out what the hidden activity name is, and even then, you only need to know the name if you're going to create your own shortcut to bring it up.
It's useful mainly for HIDDEN activities, because once you know the name of a hidden activity, you can bring it up in a single click if you know what you're doing (you have to create a shortcut to it).
As far as I know, it's the ONLY APP in all of Android that does what it does (although others may exist) so it's a keeper, for sure; but it only tells you what you want to know AFTER you've already brought up the "activity".
An "activity", if you aren't aware of what that is, is kind of sort of like a "pseudo public page" inside any Android app, which can be brought up if you know the unique name of that activity.
There are something like three or four hundred public activities in the Android "Settings" app alone, while most apps have a few dozen or so public activities you can call up directly, which means there are about a thousand or so, which is why you might need an app that tells you what activities are brought up when you do stuff on the phone.
However, if you can ALREADY easily bring up the band-selection activity on your own, you won't need this app to tell you that so I'd ignore it for now. Sorry if I wasted your time.
Appreciate very much for your reply with detail explaination.
I believe this Dimensity 1100 is prebuilt with all bands when sold to each different phone company, however, MTK will price differently base on the the number of bands given (enabled), some companies may sell its phone with lesser bands so to lower its price to make it more competitive.
This problem is hardware problem, so it could only be done with MTK special engineering software or some special code to enable/disable them.
This is just my suspicion, I may be wrong....

I agree.
I hope you find someone with the same phone who can try it to help. Or someone who knows the MTK software. Good luck!

Lg phones g8x, g8, v60, velvet Volte enable for all carriers, unlisted countries also

I will try to keep this post as small as possible.
This will enable Volte for Phone ranging from Lg g8x, g8 and V60 without root or modifying the system files.
Many have posted ways to get it, Iam only trying to help out the small bits missing for enabling on carrier without MBN in the LG phones.
1)First remove the sim from phone and then head to the phone dialer .
2)open field test menu under *#546368#*'your model number'#
3)open IMS setting(If does not open or shows only LG IMS without carrier and country , then insert sim enable universal enabler under field test, create a new config and select the 4 last options and restart phone without sim )
4)back to Field Test, IMS setting enable the below options:
4.1) under subscriber enable for IMS,ISIM, USIM
4.2) Under Xcap\Ut. Under General= enable UT,USSD Over IMS
Under ETC enable 'Check IMS Registration', 'Use rule-ID from response', 'Query on bootup'
4.3) Under GPRI VoLTE/VoWIFi enable VoLTE, ViLTE,VoWIFI,VIWIFI
4.4) Under test : Preference Operator can be set as 'OPEN' or your carrier short name. Really does not make difference for some operator , some do require it to same name as theirs.
Preference Country this is important as this decides if VoLTE gets enabled, Find your country short code example USA is US , India is IN. Find and try different short codes.
Enable:- 'support Volte AT command', VoNR, 'UAC Enabled', 'VoLTE Setting Enabled'
5) Go to Phone settings, Under network , APN settings add APN :-
APN name = ims
APN = ims
APN TYPE = ims
6) Save APN and make sure it shows under the APN names, Head back to field test menu under *#546368#*'your model number'# , open test , IMS setting and the press 'restart IMS process' wait for 1 min or so , see if the VOLTE icon shows up in the top of phone.
Points to keep in mind:
*#4636#*#* wont show registered sometimes, that's ok as long as you can make a call with HD written on calls or , if during the call it is 4g or LTE. provided VOLTE icon shows always on top of phone.
If in case VoLTE disappears at any point, no need to go through all these steps , only need to go to field test, under IMS setting , do 'restart IMS process' .
Vowifi is not confirmed, IF someone does get it please share their Operator name and preference country short name.
Please who ever gets the Preference country code, please share here for others, mention the country name also.
Cosmote Greece - GR, it worked. The only method that my v60 got a volte. Thank you!
Initially i did colincsf and it worked, but after updating to Android 13 and installing a patched modem, IMS settings was empty and I couldn't change settings. Removing the SIM showed the IMS settings option and procceded with the steps above.

APN = ims

Your case you dont have the full service menu , either cross flash to another region prefer europe. Then try the service code and check. I haven't tried on lg v50s .

Anyone tried with lg v60 L-51A docomo varient ????
so the fieldtest/ims option only depends on device country variant and not available on all devices?
Good right up,but won't work with all carriers.Tried this with a unlocked T-Mobile V60 for AT&T and still no VoLTE.Doesn't hurt to give it a shot though!

true but that depends on the carrier also, the country i was in recently , they had 3 carriers tried volte for 2 carrier it worked but the 3rd didn't, tried it on another phone which had default MBN in the firmware, still no VOLTE, understood volte has to be enabled from carrier side and also if they block volte for device specific then , its upto them. Talk to AT&T, have a phone that has VOLTE in the mbn . see if then it works. Also make sure the country code is right, for example you used US for t-mobile, it wont be the same for AT&t, try USA, or something in that line.

in SVC menu, go to MID Info, see if you can modify NT Code. Once NT Code is not matched with stored one, field test menu will appear
in #5 the ims APN won't be saved in my case. But I got "ims" APN list under Field Test-Modem Settings-PDP Setting-APN setting. Still can't get "IMS setting" open, only says "Not supported". "Modem UUID" shows not supported as well. LAOT menu only shows “SIM INFO” option, missing "LAOT Setting" option.

You sir are a life saver, i have had LG velvet 5g phone since september 2022, but not able to get VOLTE working in india but following your guide i had it working today. I didnt have to do 5 and 6 number option, as soon as i inserted sim to modify network apn settings, volte option showed up on top and i made the first call. please update your title to include LG velvet 5g so it comes in google search as many are looking for a fix on this thread also. many thanks to you as I was not sure what to do with this phone any more. thank you
Thank you so much johndaniel!
As abeykp stated just above, it works on LG Velvet 5G, and in Europe also, finally!
It's maybe a mix of actions with the post below, as I tried it first (it did activate the VoLTE option in the network settings, but was still not working for me):
Guide:-How To Activate VoLTE,ViLTE,VoWIFI&ViWIFI LG Devices-LG Velvet 5G
Hi Guys Am Baljeet From India There Is A Path To Force Enable VoLTE On The"LG Velvet 5G LM-G900" Specifically Your Version Which Is The "LM-G900". By Default This Feature Is Disabled On This Model. Follow These Steps Given Below: A). Go To The...

Now I can call & receive calls in 4G/5G without my network switching to 3G!
I also confirm that points 5 & 6 are not needed, at least on my network in europe. And I used OPEN and EU (it was actually already showing up in the line in IMS settings, but not under Test in point 4.4). I guess you can also use FR, IT, ES, CH, etc depending of the country you live in europe, it works for my country, but I kept EU as VoLTE might keep working when roaming or with another sim inserted.
You can add in your short (but so usefull!) tutorial that you have to insert the sim card before point 5, or you won't be able to get to the APN settings.
And for the LG Velvet 5G, Field Test menu is accessed with code #*462633*#900#
I will test it with my LG Wing 5G and will report if it also works.
Now I still have to get to the Field Test menu on my Korean V50S (sim unlocked STK model). Didn't manage yet to pass start the flashing process to cross flash with the Korean Open firmware, any help welcomed...
Hi, I alo have Korean V50s, does you mean we still don't have Field Test menu? so no way yt to activate VoLTE on our phone?

I don't have access to my V50S right now, but I think I couldn't get the Field Test, probably same model as yours.
Did you test this from darrelama:

Let us now if it worked for you.
The only problem I had with the V50S was that it kept going back to 3G when calling, and it didn't have one of the frequencies that is used in my country. So sometimes I was left without being able to take or make a call.
IF only LG would let us unlock all bootloaders freely, now that they left the mobile market...
