A Mobile Version of the Ubuntu Operating SystemUbuntu Touch is made and maintained by the UBports Community. A group of volunteers and passionate people across the world. With Ubuntu Touch we offer a truly unique mobile experience - an alternative to the current most popular operating systems on the market. We believe that everyone is free to use, study, share and improve all software created by the foundation without restrictions. Whenever possible, everything is distributed under free and open source licenses endorsed by the Free Software Foundation, the Open Source Initiative.
Ubuntu Touch is a mobile version of the Ubuntu operating system for mobile devices. However, unlike other 'flavors' of Ubuntu, it is more accurately an extract of parts of Ubuntu. It is adapted to run naturally in a mobile, touch-screen environment but is also capable of functioning as a desktop computer while in "desktop mode". This aforementioned converging of environments from device to device is where the term "Convergence" originates. You can find more technical details on our github page.
Run UT on these devices
Privacy EnsuredAlthough Big Brother and others in the world may wish to spy on you and steal your personal data - don't worry. With Ubuntu Touch - a safer system that respects your privacy - they will have nothing to see. Ubuntu Touch keeps you secure because most unsafe parts are blocked by default; the only way that the peepers and creepers can get a peek is if you invite them. We've got your back.
No Backdoors
Ubuntu is an open source software operating system. This means that everyone has access to the source code and change, distribute or copy it. That makes it impossible to install software backdoors.
The Ubuntu Touch OS does not depend on the cloud and is also virtually free of viruses and other malware that can extract your data.

this gsi install (it old and more bug but it dual boot )

Tried it about 3 days ago on my main device(a rn7pro of course). The following things don't work:
GPS:- didn't lock any satellites even after waiting for about 10 minutes under the open sky. Gps works happily on android though
External SD card:- The card is shown in the app but can't be formatted.
Volte:- I am aware that this thing will take some time to work under the ubports project

[help] Trying to compile Eleven music app from LineageOS 14.1

So currently I'm looking for a decent music app, I recently switched from Lineage14,1 to MIUI and I wanted at least a working music widget for my Nova Launcher and a cool music app, without those crappy ones full of advertisements from the play store (imho)
So I decided to trying to compile by myself the LOS14.1 music app, the apks I found are old and they force close every time.
I'm not a newbie when it comes to programming, but never touched android before, so, my OS is Manjaro Linux, using Android studio 3 from AUR. JRE8-openjdk, openjre etc.
The first thing I did, was downloading this ----> https://github.com/LineageOS/android_packages_apps_Eleven
Then, I imported the project using Android Studio.
Into the .project I've seen that is an eclipse ADT project, but I found that is deprecated.
After trying to solve some problems related to libraries with google (just posting the solutions I found, they were stupid problems) ---->

I ended up with this situation, 45 errors. And this is where I'm asking for help
What am I doing wrong? There seems to be that the program is using a non existent method from Canvas, called Release according to the documentation I found on the internet (not just that)
I'm also trying to reinstall eclipse ADT to compile this, I don't really know what to do
Also got a compilation log View attachment log.log
Or just the wrong java vm?

As far as I understand you are trying to build a system application source specifically taken from Lineage OS source tree as a standalone application.
It's possible but application is dependant to Lineage OS, not the Android SDK, so it's coded in a way that it can be compiled with it's dependencies in Lineage OS source.
You may either establish a build environment, download Lineage OS source, compile the package within, and try to install it, or try to resolve errors using Lineage OS sources in currently establish setup.

Halium port for Nexus 6P
From the Halium website:
Halium is the collaborative project to unify the Hardware Abstraction Layer for projects which run GNU/Linux on mobile devices with pre-installed Android.
Click to collapse
It aims to standardize the lower level layers and middleware of mobile Linux for other projects to have a common base to start from such as Plasma Mobile, UBports, LuneOS, and Sailfish OS.
This port is intended to extend the support of Halium to a new device and to provide a base upon which ports of non-Android Linux distributions can be based upon.
This is an initial port, so stabilty (or it even working properly) is not guaranteed.
At the moment, there is no VT (virtual console) support due to requirements in order for Halium to be successfully built.
For more details, you can go to the device port page on the Halium Project Management issue page or on the pull request in the halium-devices Git repo.
You can download the files to manually flash Halium here.
The repositories for this can be found here (kernel), here (repository manifest), and here (vendor). The Android code is based from LineageOS 14.1 (7.1 Nougat).
P.S. Could someone please tell me where I should actually have this thread posted in? Due to the nature of the project, I'm not sure whether this even belongs in Android Development, Original Android Development, or neither. I just put this in General to be safe.
I would say Original Dev, but if it's a "port" then I dunno...
Are you a dev on the original project?
What is your role in this?
My involvement with the project, my role, and the question of thread categorization

1. No, I'm not a dev on the original project. I was with the project since before it went public, but not in a development capacity.
2. I'm just porting this to the Nexus 6P in my free time. Additionally, I am planning to test this myself sometime this April; that's when I can afford to have phone issues from unstable software without greater consequences.
The thing is, Halium isn't exactly Android-based. It uses a modified Linux kernel and various other lower level components (drivers, services, etc.) from Android. However, the Android framework, ART, and the other upper level parts that most people call "Android" proper aren't present. Whether this belongs in Original Dev or Development, the issue at hand with the categorization is the Android in Original Android Development and Android Development; this is (as mentioned before) due to the nature of the project itself. If this uses lower level components from Android but not the framework, UI, ART, and the rest that differentiates Android from other Linux distributions, then is it still counted as Android Development?
I noticed things were broken on this port, I would love to help continue development, when I tried compiling your kernel, it panicked. I could try to re-port the kernel. Anyway, any progress?

Please help me w/ Windows Subsystem for Android

If anyone would be willing to help me troubleshoot the cause of these Hypervisor Errors, I would be eternally grateful. I've never asked anyone to help with this kind of ****, so take it easy on me for not knowing the etiquette.
Anyways, I'm running Windows 11 Pro (Ghost Spectre) from a custom bootable with Partition Master and a bunch of tools to save the rig if the ship goes down, which it usually does not, but I keep trying to get this one back in the win column and failing. Basically, I can run/play anything with no issues, Windows Updates are fine, and I get to the point where I feel comfortable trying to install WSA again, even though after 9 or 10 attempts with fresh installs of Windows (Both legit isos from Insider and the custom), it always crashes the same way.
1. I activate SVM in the Bios (MSI 970a-G43 Plus)
2. I remove the very minimal overclock settings I run before saving and exiting bios en route to first boot with WSA installed
3. Windows hits the desktop, I move the mouse maybe an inch or two (sometimes it takes a second for the bad part)
4. The system is locked up like if you ran 500% disk and cpu it just doesn't register any actions
5. BSOD labeled Hypervisor Error
And the kicker for me is that even with Hypervisor Platform off, and Virutalization Platform on instead, I still get the same Hypervisor Error.
Please harass me for any information, I made cookies. Love you guys. Sorry for the format. XD
I have in addition to having Developer Mode enabled in Windows Settings also both the Virtual Machine Platform and the Windows Hypervisor Platform features enabled and rebooted computer afterwards. Resume: WSA perfectly works for me.

Gost Spectre isn't official Windows 11, it's a modded version of stock Windows 11. May be Gost Spectre has left off parts what Windows 11 by default has.

Seeking user documentation

Greetings.
Despairing that Sailfish OS will never have a decent browser and that it's actually losing ground in areas like support for ProtonMail and VPNs, I started looking for an alternative OS for the Sony XperiaX I got . . . to run Sailfish OS. A Lineage OS rom with the MicroG modifications would be fine -- if there were one already canned for the XperiaX. Likewise /e/. Best I can tell, there are not (please correct me if I'm wrong, bearing in mind that flashing a phone is like setting a broken leg to me -- I'll do it if I have to, but it's not something I'm good at). So I flashed away Sailfish 4.4.0.68 and installed OTA 23 of what's apparently the stable branch of Ubuntu Touch. It's pleasingly smooth in many ways, but . . .
-- There is NO documentation I can find. Nor can I find any forum or mailing list. It seems to be developers only, which is fine if you don't have or plan to have users. Does anyone know of any support forum or mailing list that helps mere users try out the OS?
-- There is no attention (yet, at least) paid to security, as witness the OS's inability to read an OVPN file so a VPN can be used. There is a document (https://ubports.com/blog/ubports-news-1/post/using-vpn-in-ubuntu-touch-3065) that describes how one might strip the necessary information from an OVPN file, but c'mon.
-- It is apparently possible to manipulate the left-side frequently-used-applications bar (or whatever it's called; again, there seems to be no user documentation even establishing names for these things), because I've seen different apps in that bar in different screenshots. But nowhere can I find anything describing how this is done. (I learned that you need to open the app store to delete an app entirely by accident.)
The hits just keep on coming, but I'll stop there. Does anyone know of any user support site/forum/listserv where we can sort these things out? I'd really like for it to succeed, and even more to be able to use it, but there are a few minimum requirements (VPN especially), that I need to be able to implement. Otherwise I'll have to go back to Sailfish and the world's worst non-Konqueror browser.
Never mind, I guess. I said hell with it and flashed the Lineage OS for MicroG image. Ubuntu Touch is prettier and smoother, but I need an operating system, not a puzzle game, and absent user documentation it's more the latter than the former. It's kind of like Linux in 1997, but without the newsgroup support.
Same thing here, couldn't even get beyond their installer. I guess UB touch is as bull**** as ubuntu itself...
for pointing it out! I thought already it was me but no, it's ubuntu...

Themes / Apps / Mods [ROOT] Virtual Machine with KVM acceleration for Tensor Chips

Hi all,
On Android 13, Google enabled KVM support for Tensor Chips model(Pixel 6 / 6pro / 6a). So we can run a Virtual machine at full speed, but there is no APP to utilize this feature.
I modified the Limbo Emulator (QEMU), so it can enable the KVM on Pixel 6 Phones. Due to the limitation of the kernel, the APP needs ROOT permission to access the KVM service(/dev/kvm)
Currently, only VNC is working on this APP, and you can only boot directly using the Linux kernel. UEFI did not work on KVM.
Network functions worked, but you may need to set the DNS inside the Guest OS.
Arch Linux for arm64 runs pretty well on Limbo. It runs even faster than Raspi 4. You can download it from ArchLinuxARM-aarch64-latest.tar.gz
Other Linux can also run on the Limbo, but you may need to recompile the kernel to enable virto-related functions.

You can install an apk package as a test package via adb (command adb install -t limbo~.apk). You can also use LADB to install (tested)
Simple installation of the apk is not possible due to the included test build in the application manifest
Awesome! This will come in handy.
Does anyone know if it would be possible to use the simulate secondary display dev option with a display link device or Chromecast?
A while back I discovered that the second screen will actually automatically tie to the (separate from main phone gui) mouse/ keyboard connected. The start menu of that virtual display opens apps in desktop resizeable mode.
It's just not practical to run a desktop as an overlay. If someone can figure out how to feed it to an external display we'd have a solid makeshift DeX with much more flexibility and potential.
Anyone managed to get a working internet connection on the guest?
Can you please tell us how to run windows arm using your latest update there are many trying to attempt this even by installing native qemu and all trying to create a different version of your app with more commands and also how to run other operating systems besides your provided one
