Bromite webview without root? - Samsung Galaxy S10 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Welcome!
Is there any way to use Bromite Webview instead of the default Android System Webview without rooting?

Hi
You can try to instal it anlogside System Webview and then try to select the webview component within developer menu, when possible

Problems with Webview apps

Hi guys,
I am having difficulty with applications that are using Android System WebView recently.
I have tried uninstalling it and trying to let Chrome handle webview implementation.
I have also tried to reinstall Android System WebView. And reinstall the other apps that uses it as well...
No luck.
Any ideas?

Android System WebView and Dolphin Browser

I have installed the latest version of Dolphin web browser and the Jetpack.
Recently, I have updated the Android System Webview. After that, Dolphin cannot connect to any web site, it bounces back to the home page, I have to uninstall the update of Android System Webview. Anyone else has the same experience? Should I avoid to update the Android System Webview in the future?
As of android nougat, system webview is disabled by default and can't be turned on. Instead we use the chrome Webview, which can be seen under developer options > webview implementation
If it is disabled, how come I got update notice? Should I avoid to update it in the future if it is incompatible with Dolphin browser?

Will changing to Chrome Beta / Canary affect anything more than stability?

Hello,
I've noticed that since Android 7.0, Android System Webview will be disabled by default, and Chrome will used instead. However, I'm wondering that if I were to replace my factory installed Chrome to Beta or even Canary, will it bring any issues other than stability issues (caused by untested code, in Canary, for example) for web rendering activity? Will it cause my system to break?
What I was planning to do, is by uninstalling Stable Chrome (first rooting my phone via Magisk, then uninstall it using Root Uninstaller), and then install Canary afterwards.

Setting Chrome as webview instead of Google webview

Hi.. I have Miuipro 8.12.23 Noughat ported rom for my kenzo. I have both google webview from rom and chrome browser installed. I came to know that Chrome itself can act as webview. But i cannot select chrome as my webview in developer settings. How to select chrome as my webview? Please help.
I tried
1. Removing google webview and inserting chrome.apk into system/app using root explorer - but failed
2. Uninstalled and reinstalled chrome and chrome beta from playstore - didnt work
any work around please

Webview Update - How?

How do I update my Android System Webview? I'm WAY out of date (87. something).
I'm using the Resurrection Remix ROM.
Since it's a system app on Ressurection you'll either have to manually replace it or use magisk. One good option is to install bromite system webview which can be installed with magisk or again, manually with a file manager or adb. I use the magisk module which gets updated via Aurora Droid or Droidify or just installing the apk at that point. Hope this helps a tiny bit at least.

Thank you for the reply. I should have said NOT rooted, D'oh!
On my mostly de-googled rooted Samsung tablet I download/install the Trichrome library (unfortunately it's google) from apkmirror, then install webview from Aurora Store.
I've used Bromite Webview on other devices in the past (manual method, pre Magisk module), and currently use Bromite (and Mull) browsers as my primary
This is now my reason to root my phone, unless there's a way to update without doing so.
Any suggestions?
