I mostly use black wallpapers, and i noticed a kind of while gradient shade on the notification area, is there any way to disable it ? I attached a image, not quite visible in the image.

Yes... This is a tipical burn-it sintom... I suggest you an hard reset asap or better a clean flash...
It's not screen burn in.
If you pull down the quick settings panel just enough to cover part that has the it goes away. I don't know if there is some sort of offscreen padding that would fix it.
I've also read (don't recall where) that it could be light leak because of the way the display is designed for a device (ours in this case).
p.s: I'm no developer. Just a regular user like others here.

Yeah it's not screen burn, cause it would have been every where if it was a burn, but it only appears on the homescreen

P.S. complete novice.

It's easy,
Download and install HTCustom from here:
http://shadowmite.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2231&p=7890#p7890
In the "UI" tab you can select in Clock Display one of these options:
Time, Date, Both, Nothing or Battery
Select the one you like, save and soft reset.
Cheers,
Works a treat, only thing is it now hides the volume and half the signal status icons.
If i tap in the empty space it does bring up the volume slider, The icon is just invisble.
when i open a program its is still shown like above.
If i slide open then close again (refreshing the screen) it looks fine. but once back to the today screen it it goes back to like the image above.
On another tanget, the battery status bar (Lordsmiff's) at the top doesnt always work.
I have to stop and restart the app to get an accurate reading, that or view the power status in the settings tab, then go back to the today screen.
Anyone able to shed some light on either of these matters?
Cheers

You might also try this. It comes in different flavors. I just installed it tho so i dont know if it will have the same problem.
I don't know how much this matters to others, but I've noticed on my phone that when I do the hand-swipe motion to capture a screen, it works fine but the quality is mediocre. Everything from the color density to the clarity just isn't as crisp/accurate as I would assume and hope it to be. Has anyone else noticed this? If so, has anyone found a way (even if it's an app) that this can be remedied?
I also just tried the ddms approach, it doesn't work for me; screen comes up a peach-ish color across the entire thing.

You're the first I've heard of this problem. All the screenshots should just be unmolested PNGs (without any h/w overlay effects baked in (like mDNIe)) no matter how you take 'em: homebutton+powerdown, handswipe, ddms, airdroid, ...
Post an image of your screenshot here so people can see what you're talking about?

It's just not as...crisp/clear/vivid as it is on my phone. Even the color itself is off. The 2nd one below it is of my old wallpaper, which is a better example of how it's more a faded version of what I see on the phone.

I really wish I could get the ddms method to work, but in the meantime the (minor as it may be) difference between the screen captures and originals bugs a little. It just seems like most of the screen shots I see others post (such as in the thread dedicated to it) look much more vivid.
Hello overyone,
I Googled and found nothing, so I'm here. Let's see what experts think...
What's happening:
When the "automatic brightness" function is turned on and the smartphone itself is exposed to the sun, it tends to "overdo" the level of brightness (and in a VERY strange way). Whole screen starts to look "washed out" and COMPLETELY strange. It is perfectly visible for example in a black version on Messenger. Display is not just "washed out", the letters is "outlined" aswell (kinda looks like is was "overbrightnessed" and "washed out" or "oversharpened" in some raster editor). At first I thought that it has to be a HW problem (really looks like display is broken or poorly connected to the bus). It is difficult take a picture of the phenomenon, so I tried to decribe it AND tried to replicate it:
Here is original screen of header banner of XDA forum - in darker enviroment the screen looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Here is the modified one, looks very simmilar to the phenomenon what's occuring on the phone (brightness is pumped up and "sharpen" effect is pumped up (highly overused)) - in brighter enviroment (outdoor) the screen looks like this:
When the problem occured:
Yesterday. From all of the sudden. I have the phone for month or something, mabye less. No any problems until now.
What I tried:
Identifying the problem. Looks like SW problem. Occuring only in sunlight with "high" brightness. When the fron camera is covered, display darkens and the problem completely disappears. I tried restarting the phone, checking for updates, messing with the brightness settings. Nothing helped. When you make a screenshot, the picture is obviously fine.
Any ideas what it could be? Last thing to try is to factory reset the phone, but I do not want to do it right away obviously.
The phone has a valid warranty, so returning it is always an option (and I'll do it if I don't figure out what it might be).
Thanks for trying, have a wonderful day!
John
'Increased contrast' color profile fixed this problem for me.
Ha! Thats it! Thank you a lot!
I'm excited that the phone is completely ok. That means I'm happy with it so far.
It keeps me wondering, how is it possible that such a bad (non-functioning) feature is included and not patched? Instead of improving readability it turns the screen into complete mess.
Again,
thank you.
Hello all. My coworker lost a portion of her dominant thumb recently. She's on a Pixel 2 on Android 11. Is there any way she can permanently make the phone's screen only take up a smaller portion of the whole display? So in essence, to have a decent chunk of padding on the left and top parts of the screen so she can always reach every part of the screen?
Her phone is rooted. We tried a few DPI and resolution changer apps, but none of them did what we want which is to have a bunch of padding to the left and from the top, permanently.
Preferably the setting would be permanent and not needed to be turned on, and will work across all apps. We tried the "One-Handed Mode" module for Gravitybox but it did nothing when applied.
Is there any way to accomplish this with an ADB command or some sort of app that we haven't found yet?
Anyone?
If downgrading to Android 10 is an option, overscan would work like a charm.
wm overscan [reset|LEFT,TOP,RIGHT,BOTTOM]
wm density [reset|DENSITY]
Google it...

Thanks for the snarky and useless reply; this video only makes the keyboard work with one hand, not the entire phone screen.

Sadly downgrading isn't an option but is there any way to do this in Android 11 if she's rooted?

Short of a prosthetic or transplant, adaptation is the only alternative and all the former have their limits.
There's this on the Note's... it's in the firmware, not an app. whatever...

Yes which is why I specifically asked if it can be done on a Pixel phone that is rooted.
I've set up fingerprint app lock. In the unlock screen, the display appears bright on the right and black on the left. Until this morning, everything was always black on these screens. Now I don't know why it turns on the LEDs on the right. The photo exaggerates the effect but it is evident. By setting the brightness to the minimum everything is normal; Raising it a little, it begins to be noticed. This problem is present only on these screens (during the unlock of apps) and nowhere else. How can I fix it?
thank you

I tried to activate and deactivate it but nothing changes. I have also downloaded several apps to test the screen and trying with all types of lighting I don't have any problems. Could it be something related to the fingerprint reader?

Try unlocking with and without DC Dimming. It's in Developer Settings, see if anything changes
It may be a silly suggestion but make sure the lockscreen wallpaper is pure black
This is a common issue with most optical scanners. With somewhat grey background such as yours, the partial lighting up of the amoled can disclose all the uneven calibration. This can be minimised to a greater degree with software updates, like how Apple, Samsung or even Vivo did. In my GT2 Pro this issue is absent in general.
I contacted Realme support and they suggested I send it to the warranty repair center. Could they improve calibration or replace the entire display? Or is it useless to send him for assistance?
