Kepps restarting after Update Android 11. Help please. - Redmi Note 9S / Note 9 Pro (Indian Model) Question

Hello everyone.
My note 9 pro keeps restarting after update android 11. I can not take my photos/videos from phone because it restarts like every 1-2 minute even without touching the phone :/
So, my questions.
1. Can I take my files from phone not rooted/not unlocked/no twrp?
2. Can I flash the same stock ROM without losing data? (via recovery or Fastboot? (Not downgrading or updating. Just same ROM)
*Safe Mode not working too. Tried.
Exactly this ROM :
V12.0.1.0.RJZMIXM

Indian Note 9 Pro carries codename Curtana which is rebranded global Note 9S. Global Note 9 Pro is Joyeuse and the ROM you're mentioning belongs to the latter. So my question is, Is your Note 9 Pro Indian or Global?

Global NOTE 9 PRO
THanks for Reply

If you can boot to bootloader mode, maybe first of all try to unlock the bootloader. I remember once I had bricked my phone and my bootloader got locked but I was able to unlock bootloader. Then I flashed TWRP and flashed ROM.

I had the same problem and I took my phone to a guaranteed shop and they said I should back up before and it is the bootloader problem.
I am waiting for the fixed phone to see I loosed my data or not but I think I lost all of my data

Most likely it's lost. Sorry.
Always backup your critical data redundantly to at least 2 hhds that are physically and electronically isolated from each other and not attached to the PC. Best to time stagger backups to the various hdds... and you can never have too many. Do not encrypt the data.
When buying a phone get one with an SD card slot. Use the SD card as a data drive, all critical data and everything needed after a factory reset goes there including copies of apps so Playstore isn't needed. Only the OS, apps and the temporary download folder go on internal memory. Then backup the SD card regularly.
I've lost a whole data base... learn from it and move on.

Bootloader works but I can not adb pull :/ anyway. Is unlocking bootloader will erase data? And adb can not see phone while fastboot mode. Is that can be because of locked bootloader?

Yes, unlocking bootloader erases data

Data recovery HELP - Bricked phone

Sorry for the duplicated post. I just noticed the other one i posted is in the wrong section and this is the one for the AT&T phones so here it is again.
Hi Guys. Today i rooted my phone for the first time (LG Optimus G e970)
Everything went well, then i uninstalled the bloatware from AT&T and a few of the google apps that i do not use like books or music, and on the next reboot i got my phone bricked with the LG loop and "Security Error" message.
I found some great info on these forums on getting the phone in working condition with the help of this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2388440
However, before i go ahead and restore the phone's original firmware, i would like to know if there is anyway to recover some of the files. I have some important notes i wish to recover, everything else is on google and the external SD card so im not all lost.
I am able to put the phone in download mode by holding the up and down volume keys and then powering on the phone with the usb cable connected to the PC, but it is not showing as an external disk on the computer. I do have the LG drivers installed tho, the same ones i used to root the phone.
Any ideas?. thanks a lot.
What recovery do you have ? You may be able to mount internal and sd card in recovery and access them on your computer ?

Hi thank for the help.
I have no clue about what recovery i have. I never played with the phone before the rooting and removal of the apps, so i believe it should be the "stock" recovery if you wanna call it like that.

I don't know what guide you followed to get the root. If you followed this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2450258
You should have twrp. Stock recovery may not be able to mount storages for uses on PCs.
Also I haven't seen the post you included , maybe that's an older post. A lot of people use this to recover their "bricked" phones
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230994
I personally have followed this too.
As long as you have download mode you don't have to worry. However you need to read carefully before processing with teenybins because its something that can actually brick your phone if used wrong.

Ok so when i did the rooting i followed that same guide you linked to, but i only did it to the root part. Not the "UNLOCK BOOTLOADER AND INSTALL CUSTOM RECOVERY-"
I just wanted the permissions to remove the apps.
So now with the TeenyBin guide.... will that erase the current settings and information on the phone or is it just an attempt to fix the firmware loop?
will the process attempt to restore the google apps missing?

There are different kind of teenybins. They do different things, one giving you a working recovery and updating RPM/TZ, one restoring your phone to complete factory state. You will have to read it to know what I'm saying here. The one that give you twrp and update your partitions may let your data alone but you will most likely still have the existing bootloop. The gapps missing ? The ones you deleted ? If you use the bin that recovers phones to factory state then you will have all the stock apps again.
Quick update.
I was able to recover the phone and the data in it. :good:
I installed the new boot loader with the teenybin instructions and was able to backup the data partition to an SD card.
Anyway, after that i went for a recovery using the stock firmware and LGNPST and now i lost the boot loader with all the neat options, but got the phone working again, and to my surprise, everything was back there including data and applications,. i dont get it but oh well... im back alive.
Ill backup all the important stuff from now on, and then i will keep messing with the phone again LOL. i learned quite a few things today... ill read more from now on before doing more things.
Thanks for all the help.!!
Good nite

Boot loop on encrypted Redmi Note 3 Pro Intl Version -- how to backup files?

Hi,
I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro International Version 3GB 32GB.
I never modified this device (no root, unlock etc.).
However, I have enabled the encryption option.
Today, there was another system update which I installed (since I own this device, there was never a problem with these updates).
After installing the update, the device got stuck in a boot loop :crying:
Question: How can I backup my personal data now (e.g. photos)? -- I really would like to have this data (unfortunately, my last backup is a little old).
I assume that, since the device is encrypted and in a boot loop, I cannot wipe the device without losing all my data, correct?
Can I install a boot loader from where I can backup my photos?
Thank you in advance!
Happened to me as well. I had to format it. One thing you could do is unlock it using mi unlocked app. Install twrp via ADB. Twrp will ask for password. Once unencrypted in twrp, you could copy your files onto a SD card quickly. I personally didn't want to go through this hassle and simply wiped data. Lost a ton of data for not backing up sooner.
Thanks for your reply! Sorry that you lost your data...
Can I unlock the phone using the method you described when the phone is already in the boot loop? -- I understood that I have to log in to the Mi account on the phone (which I cannot do at the moment due to the boot loop.
Is there any other way to unlock the device?
Thanks!
It worked -- I could create a backup of all my data.
I described the details in a blog article -- however, this forum unfortunately does not allow me to post the link. You will find it when googling "Irgendwas Verschwurbeltes"

Thank you for sharing the method, here is the link.
I am surprised that fastboot_edl worked on a locked device, but perhaps it depends on a model and MIUI/bootloader version. Anyway, the EDL mode always works with the "test point" or "deep flash cable" methods. I suppose that instead of editing rawprogram0.xml you could just delete userdata.img and the flash would continue with only a minor error and user data intact.

Huawei p30 lite root

Hello everybody.
I have a simple Question about root on this model, is it possible to do?
And if it is possible, tell me how Please.
Best regards
Wojtek
I am looking for the same too
Me too... Looks like it is still impossible
Only paid method and who knows it will be work on my p30 lite......hmm
Hello ppl,
I know this might be a little old.. any way just for the knowledge lets bring this thread back.
I had the same concern for a while, and kind of eager to get mine rooted.. until now.
I managed to unlock mine, and root it succesfully. Latest version of magisk, safty net passed, root essentials running like a charm, I can ADB in to it and su yey!
How? main issue here is my p30 lite MAR-LX3A was already in emui10, and somehow this little sucker wont allow the unlock of the bootloader regardless. I used a unlock tool that is advised to work for this model using testpoint short. how ever it was not working for me, until I read the EMUI had to be downgraded to 9.1.
Once runnig EMUI9.1 I didnt had to re-run the tool it was already unlocked. weird.
Any how the unlocker tool I used was not the ABD/fastboot tools, it was a paid app in case you are still interested in getting it done I can tell you how. Just keep in mind you will need to Open the back cover of the device.
Think is there is no custom recovery image available that works, neither a custom ROM, so all you have is pretty much root access.
I beleive this to be a pretty decent phone so I dont want just to ditch it, I am working to get a TWRP image, if I a managed to so I will get a ROM done as well. Think the whole device has been off the track for dedicated modders and devs, so it has just not been worked on.
which me luck. I'll keep you posted
I used an unlock bootloader service for 15$. First i had to downgrade my emui from 10 to 9.
I can run magisk without problem. My only problem is that i wan't super su. I was able to flash TWRP Recovery 3.2.1.0 (HiSilicon Kirin 710). But i couldn't use it because the folder are encrypted. So if anyone has any idea how to decrypt this let me know

I'm gonna look for that TWRP img, I didnt find a working one acutally. is there a specific reason why you rather use super su ?
about encryption you usually need to make sure there is no password configured, I read somewhere about a guy that had his Face recognition still configured, and that was the reason he was unable to unencrypt. there are some zips you can flash somwhere around, but never tried them

I deactivated all passwords etc. But it didn't work for me. The only reason i need supersu is because i wan't recover some deleted contacts and mails after factory reset. And those Windows applications with real deep scan not works with magisk.

why dont you try getting an image of the partition with DD, convert it and mount it in the PC directly, I beleive using the scan software directly against the phone is more complicated than just scanning a directly attached block device.
Hello

there are a few things to try... you can go to wipe menu in TWRP then use the fix/repair option against the system encrypted partition..
-try reparing it
-try changing the partition from ext4 (check first the type usually ext4) to ext2, then change it back to what it was, ext4
last resource:
-wipe all data/factory reset ***** You WILL loose all your personal data if you do this **** just make a backup MANUALLY before doing this.. if you use TWP backup pbby your back will be encrypted too...
I manage to get mine unencrypted with this last step, took a few attempts, but had to reflash Stock so its back to encryption
Maybe we should create our own TWRP version for the p30 lite. There are many tutorials ^^

agreed I have been working on one that truely works, but there are a few blanks about how TWRP really works.. and its boot process. I have learned a little this past week, but still think gonna have to reverse engineer a working img to get some answers.... I was actually thinking on building a orange fox image better not sure what would be easier..
I have lots of work so I do this in my free time, but let me know if you want a help perhaps we can get something and port a nice ROM that's worth the device
.

Sure, ive been busy but will try my best.. about the unlock process I end up paying 19 euros... But try using fastboot unlock first.. may save you the money not sure...
1. Downgrade to emui 9.1 .. just plug the p30 lite to PC, install hsuite... Go for the firmware/software update... A pop up screen will show up with some small letters buttom rigth.. older releases or revert to older firmware something like that.. you will get too choose 9.1 only ... Choose that and apply.. Keep an eye out.. this will delete everything in your phone... Next boot you will be in 9.1.. avoid the automatic upgrade.
2. Turn the phone off, take the back cover and locate the testpoints.. short by using metal wire... The small aluminium wire wraps that come with bread and other bags for easy close are usefull just remove some plastic in each side... connect the usb cable to PC.. leave the phone side unplugged.. Touch test point with the wire while the other side touches a metal cover in the phone.. while doing it plug the phone to the USB cable.. the charging animation should not appear . . . Screen must stay black.. otherwise do it again.. if done right the device manager will detect COM port for your device
Identify the point with this video
3. use either app you want to detect testpoint mode and unlock... I managed to do it with a 3 day unlimited license for HCU client.. that did the trick their website have some tutorials easy to follow.
Hi all,
I have the same problem like a few other people. I unlocked the phone with HCU, and after I tried to root with magisk (by trwp) But the main issue, the phone is encrypted and the installation proccess of the magisk by the trwp got failed. How can I root this phone? Anybode has success with this?
Thank you!

!!! Warning mi 9 se ARB !!!

So, long story...short.
Do not try to roll back from MIUI 11(Android 10), Xiaomi.eu or Masik ROM or any other MIUI 11 with Android 10, to MIUI 10(Android 9).
You will end up with an expensive brick.
Seems like Xiaomi MI 9 SE has some ARB (anti roll back) system integrated.
The phone will not do anything (no fastboot, no ADB, no recovery, no boot, no nothing, just a black screen). The only mode avalaible will be EDL download mode.
For EDL flash you will need some special authorization from Xiaomi to flash your phone with XiaoMiFlash Tool.
But Xiaomi doesn`t authorize anymore any account.
So...the result...a big fat expensive brick.

Where did you get that information? AFAIK, Mi 9 SE doesn't have ARB enabled. Certainly not xiaomi.eu (https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/9-11-28.53559/). My anti value has been 1 since I have this phone.

Well, at least you got a response. My local xiaomi store didn't even answer my emails.
I don't think your problem is about ARB. The same happened to me, doing a full restore. What TWRP did you use?
Did you recover you phone? I don`t know what do do I used @redispade TWRP.
Actually I installed xiaomi.eu first android beta 10 as soon as it came out, to make tests with the latest twrp and now I am running xiaomi.eu miui 11 android 9 stable. It doesn't depend neither on arb, nor android version. You messed up something during flash, or faulty cable or usb port.

The only thing that i have done is to make a full TWRP backup (excl internal storage). Flashed Masik MIUI 11(android 10).
After that, i didn`t like the ROM, and did a restore using TWRP. The backed up rom was the official MIUI 11(android 9).
The restore process went fine, but after reboot I only get a black screen. I`m not saying that your TWRP bricked up my phone.
I`m just saying that people should be aware of this, because they could brick their phones.
Did you format data before restoring?

Yes, but I had to pay someone to remotely login to my phone with an authorized account. I used another TWRP and my guess is that I messed up the bootloader by restoring every partition. But could be something else. I've restored basic partitions (boot, system, vendor and data) several times with redispade TWRP and I've never had big issues.

Thanks, I just managed to reconnect again, not sure how I solved, I was tweaking manually from twrp terminal the build.props file , and was weird swapping usb port worked, with windows neither worked.
So I believed I screwed up the adb keys or something in the device, maybe because failed Vendor flash with fastboot.
Just to confirm that I faced the ARB brick while downgrading from Masik Android 10 to Revolution OS Android 9. Two times I faced the problem.
I went to the service center and I was pretending not knowing what was happening to my device. A few days later, I received the phone back to the normal with global ROM. The technician said there was something wrong with the "storage", so he flashed the ROM back.
A week later, I did the same thing again. It happened again. And I just realized it was because of the ROM that has anti-roll back protection while downgrading from android 10 to android 9. I went to the service center again and they happily told me maybe it was the motherboard. So, they changed the motherboard for free. That is my experience about the Mi 9 SE ARB brick.
So, the problem was RevolutionOS or Masik has some kind of ARB brick which causing the phone won't boot up. NO fastboot, No TWRP, No Recovery. Dead. I hope no one would face the same problem like me.

Securing xiaomi with unlocked bootloader

Hello
I am enjoying the life with Redmi note 9 pro, unlocked bootloader and custom rom.
However, I was thinking, if someone gets physical access to the phone he could boot in fastboot or recovery and get inside, right?
So if this is possible, what do we do to protect our information? Is it possible to password protect the booting?
Not if you use encryption. That's why it's there. If you have unlocked phone they can get to bootloader abd for example reinstall whole system a basically make their stolen/found phone working, but that is not possible without full wipe, which means also your data.

Hi,
Is there a guide for how to enable encryption after unlocking the bootloader on the Note 9 Pro?
Thanks!

If that's the case then I am ok. My primary objective is the data to be secured.
And do you know why there is no option to encrypt the SD card? I am at MIUI 11 V11.0.4.0.QJZMIXM

Hi. The easiest way to accomplish this is to go to settings and search for "encrypt". Activate the "Encrypt device using lock screen password".
Just remember that if you forget this password there is no way to get your data back, and also the microSD card is not encrypted.

Unlocking has nothing to do with encryption. These 2 things are not connected in any way. So if you have encrypted system (which is usually by default) unlocking bootloader will not change that.
I don't know where exactly it is on MIUI system, but if you search for encryption in setting you should be able to find it (exactly like Smartie083 said).
If I remember correctly some systems were able to encrypt also sd-card (not sure tho). If your system allows it (you will need to have such option somewhere in security), keep in mind that this will render such sd-card usable only in that device, not anywhere else. So taking it out and connecting to PC will not work etc.
Also if you are interested in security of your system, you might be interested in ditching MIUI, installing clean rom without gapps and if you need G-services then using it through microG (although interesting, I consider this as valid option just for total paranoia people, or people which are running away from law).
Also avoiding root and ensuring that selinux is enabled is helpfull.
