I have a LG G8 thinq phone (Sprint) that is on a Metro PCS network . I had phone since Dec. of 2020. It worked fine until the Android 10 update . I get drop calls at times , also internet buffers ,and buffers. Well anyway I went to try to change apn settings ,but I can't, they are greyed out . There are 2 apns listed one is EPDG MMS/XCAP and the other is Metro PCS. Would rooting work ? I'm also thinking of wiping out phone and just staying on Android 9 ( not a big fan of 10) or installing an AT/T or Tmobile rom (?) . I know other people must have this same problem. All advise will be appreciated.

happened to me a few times when flashing, i talked to the sprint cs ppl and they said it had to do with the towers not giving u the proper handshake when booting, i just kept doing the ##72786
I have the same problem and released this because I use with Telcel in Mexico but do not let me use data not shown me I get my operator Mimas options attached images...
work if I do say to type: ##72786# ???

I've had to experiement with lots of different ROMs to get the data working at the same time as the calls/texts on my phone.
i've used straighttalk for a while and finally abandoned that ship and went with Ting.
so far, other than stock rom, i only get service on Resurection remix but its only 3g.
anyone find a work around for this kind of problem?

I recently picked up a used Sprint Stylo 4 that appears to have a clear ESN according to Swappa but a strait sim swap from my iPhone 6 plus to the Stylo 4 just results in a brief 3G internet connection, no texting and finally “sim locked” which requires a reboot. I have tried resetting the phone and triggering the activation as desribed on Boost mobiles site but I’m afraid the sim card is either an issue(original sim from my iPhone 6 plus which is a Sprint to Boost convert) or Its somehow still active on Sprint? The model number is the same as the Boost version so its hard to believe its impossible to get functioning as it partially works initially.
FYI, i do have the sim card that the Stylo 4 was actived on Sprint if that makes any difference like it did with my iPhone.
Thanks in advance for any insight. I gave google a workout before coming here but couldn't find much on what it takes to move an Android on Sprint to Boost besides “its possible but the model has to be supported on Boost to switch from Sprint”.
Did you wipe the phone? Sometimes droids will download a provisioning package for the carrier the SIM belongs to and that needs to be deleted (hard reset) first. Otherwise, you may need a new SIM card.
I cannot post in the main section because I am a mute. But I have a Boost LG Stylo 4 (LGQ710AL) Think the firmware ended with an H. But my problem is it is not booting I assume it was doing an ota update. Per my daughter. I can get into download mode. It tries to go into Recovery says loading then shuts off or reboots. I use Eft dongle to factory reset it to try and fix it. Below is what it says.
"Images of verified boot not installed all slots are unbootable."
If we had the LGUP Dll or a stock rom it may be an easy fix been a while since I played with LG. If anyone has a stock rom or the OTA updates would be a small start.

I wanted to update from android 8 to 9 to try it out. well when i went to the ota software updates n completed them and it somehow changed my verizion branded phone to att. " it's a verizion phone with a att sim card" after the last year of sharing my wifi via mobile hotspot after this blunder it now blocks me from using mobile hotspot. can any1 please tell me how to make.my phone like it was without having to do a full reset? phone is not rooted and I have no access to a pc. I have the sm-g965u.

So i purchased a phone a few months back but since then i'm unable to use 4G on this phone. I've tried everything available through google's help and have turned to XDA as a last resort. I've tried
1. Hard reset (No luck)
2. Restoring default apn settings (No Luck)
3. Changing the connectivity settings via third party app (No Luck)
4. Changing sim cards.
5. Changing sim slots.

6. Just tried to change the hw_networkmode_preference from setdb and couldn't find this setting there. created new setting for this and entered 9,6,2,1,11. Now i get 4G only option but as soon as i select 4G the phone shows No service.
All of the above tried multiple times without any luck to get it working. Its like its just stuck o 3G and wont use 4G although the option is there. The sim card's $g connection works fine in my other phone. but not this one. If anyone has any idea how to get it working please respond ASAP as i need this phone working for my sister and cannot afford another.

I get that. but the same carrier allows 4G to be used on other phones. why not this phone ? its got to be a software bug or maybe they forgot to install 4G hardware
Any other hunches ?
Hi, i got lg g6 h873 before i could get calld and test messages but after reset i got a message service data blocked. I cant get the apn configuration. I even replace sim card. I already tried the phone information but ibcant turn off radio cause the application is not supported on this device.
Also, how to update without computer if its possible, as it says not registered on software update. Cannot find proper solution.
