I hve been using my phone on power saving mode from 2 days to save battery and to hve more life out of it. I wana ask tht it is ok to use it continuously on power saving mode forever??
Any ideas??
No problem in using power mode all the time. It's a feature Samsung enables to save battery
Yep. Can't see a problem except the expected performance downgrade etc.

Personally I hated the power saving modes in every smartphone i had cause it affects performance. I will buy a spsre battery and a charger. If you are ok with the performance in power saving mode you should use it!
Enjoy your phone to its maximal potential. Don't let the battery saving issue to disturb your user experience.

My phone doesn't decrease in performance with saving mode enabled. It is always fast.

Not the case with mine, I notice a decrease in performance. It most likely under clocks the CPU...
In regards to the original question, no there is nothing wrong with leaving the phone in power saver mode. In fact you could probably argue that its better as the phone creates less heat.
Ideally I'd like to overclock mine
Well there is no such thing as saving power without sacreficing preformance. (unless you undervolt it or use more power effectient drivers)
But you should be ok running in power save mode all the time, although I do question why you bought a top of the line smartphone then. I think you would have saved more power (and money) buying a lower end phone.
It does govern the cpu. You can uncheck it. I leave mine checked.

Truely speaking i cant see diiference of even 1% in comparison to power saving and normal mode. Any one knows y battrey depleting though good but at same rate in both modes??
juice defender app does a good job for me. i use the basic settings but you can tweak it to save more battery.
Power saving appears to cap the clock speed at 1.0 GHz rather than 1.4 GHz and it may also disable cores, too. Most of the time it feels just as responsive to use. It is less snappy for some apps and benchmarks quite a bit slower, but I feel I'm splitting hairs as it still feels quicker than my last handset.
I see two days of moderate use with Power Saving on. I don't quite see two days with it off, but the difference is probably not statistically significant and the device is still new.
Power Saving
im using a power saving application on Xperia S ... is it okay to keep it working all the time??
thank you ....

Yes, should not use battery/ram optimization apps. They interfere with androids core system.
I uninstalled all these apps after trying and researching. They eat more battery then they save. I only use battery stats apps to keep a log of battery drain.
Now I easily get 40+ hours on my S3 with moderate uses.
Hello
I know many wants to know about the battery time of the galaxy alpha!
For me it has always lasted throughout the day.
I do not play any games on my phone and use it mostky for browsing and texting/calling.
I have more screen on time than the average user (i think)
Well, here's a screenshot
Whats ur normal Sot?
Maybe 3 hours on days I watch videos.
About 2 when I only text and browse and 9gag ofc!

It is the one with the exynos
Impress with the battery so far. Power saving mode is on 90% of the time tho.. But consumption of Android system is not impressive
But not bad Alpha, not bad..
Heres another ss
It's so much better than my s3, I use power save when I'm at work and it will drop by 10% at most leaving me with 80% at 5pm. That's with checking Facebook, texting my girlfriend and reading some articles through the day.
So everyone is using the power saving mode to get the battery to last?? That's crazy! It cripples the performance badly.
What results will you get for SOT and longevity without any power saving on? That's what I would like to know......
I agree, you should not pay 550 euro to have the same functionality as my Nokia 3310 from 15 years old. (with powersaving on)
You want all functions on, at their max speed during at least one day.

No, not everyone is using power save mode. I've posted battery stats on here at least a couple of times. I've never used power save to get me through the day yet.

So what's your SOT a normal day without PS?
Zero lemon
I emailed Zerolemon last week and asked them if they will going to have battery for the alpha and this is their response.
"Yes, our design team is working on Galaxy alpha battery now. Hopefully it will come out in around Christmas time. We will announce of Facebook"
Im just not sure if its the 5580 mah battery or just the regular 1860.
Can anybody email them as well? so that they can rush the process of selling the battery lol. Because Ive been looking and looking in ebay and amazon and found only the oem one, and theyre too expensive atm

Nobody said everybody is using it. There are two power save modes on the phone, Power Save and Ultra Power Saving. So what's so crazy about the phone being in regular power save mode, when it's not being used?
Would I rather the phone be running at 100% CPU power throughout my 8 hour work day to leave me with less battery life? No I don't! I use it get the most out of my battery so I don't have to worry about charging it. While it's on during my day, I only text and read some articles when I'm on break. Why would I need to run at 100% to do these simple tasks? I don't. Simple. I can understand if you're trying to play a game or something very CPU intensive, but I do what makes the best sense for how I use the phone and I was just sharing I get phenomenal battery life by using the regular power save mode when the phone is going to sit idle most of the time.

bad* I lost 20% battery in 2 hours just partially browsing the Web mostly in that time. Battery is worst then nexus 5. Only thing I really like is the ultra power saving mode which barely used any battery. It didn't drop 1‰ in 5 hours with ups mode turned on .
I bought the external charging station, so always equipped with a second battery. we can change it!!
Much more convenient as an external battery extender...
Battery life
Hi guys i got my ALPHA for a one week i post some screenshots without using a internet at all because i was in awork .Its just typing asms some calls playing Angry birds andlistening to music but for me its well done.
I like my ALPHA
After 1 week of use and compare of some settings -->
1. Don't use dark mode in OS or app settings.
Reason: it will not save any power on LCD display but you will have to increase the Backpanel light to be able to read everything.
2. Disable 120Hz setting for now.
Reason: I am not sure if it is a bug but my display stays at 120Hz...all the time (except running YouTube with 60Hz). Even if I don't touch the screen at all.
You can check the actual fps in Developer options - power monitor.
Results: 2h game playing, whatsapp, spotify and browser usage...I have 6h SOT and still more then 50% battery left.
I wasn't able to get 6h SOT on my OnePlus 6 at all
Info: I didn't use plane mode over night. Wifi was active all the time.
Bloatware is removed and using AD blocker.
I have that sot with 120hz, I don't think it makes much of a difference . I use 60 only when traveling
Same settings ofc. Wifi all the time. But I use videoconference software
One more: use samsung browser which is known to use less battery
Also use nightmode slider to set brightness correctly (maximum here) otherwise you might end using more brightness on low light because nightmode brightness is too low
+1 on the other things
You can get rid of most of miui bloatware apps.
It will probably help with battery
whats the point of buying a 120hz display if you have to disable it?

Kidding. Everything is fine meanwhile. All kind of features are enabled. Also 120hz. The battery is banana. Positively surprised from this midrange mobile after using flagships for years.

I have the S23 Ultra since February 3rd and battery life gets better and better.
I don't know what to say. I think this s23 ultra is faulty. I can't be at 29% battery used with over 6 hours screen on time! Light use, from 80% charge
15 hours total uptime, 8 and a half hours screen off time, gotta sleep sometime. LIGHT performance profile used and screen at 60hz cause 120hz my eyes can hardly see. It's smoother yes, but barely, battery life is king for me
All on WiFi, location on, most apps sleeping. Gobsmacked. It's beating the redmagic 8 pro that's in the household with its 6k mah battery.
I'm expecting a lot less using mobile data, surely

Amazing battery
This phone is perfect
Got it since February 10th in the USA and I can only say battery has been great. Compared to my other phones ( coming from a pixel 7 pro and a Xiaomi mi 11 5g) the battery life is just excellent on this s23 ultra, for such a big device and huge screen size I think Samsung finally nailed it. No sleeping apps, not profile settings just plain stock and so far so good. Wifi and data on 24/7, location on 24/7, VPN 24/7 . The browser times where spent a huge time watching videos from it, almost an hour of video calling and shooting some video and photos, couple of sessions of gaming.

How much do you lose on standby? Say overnight, while sleeping, over 8-10 hours how much do you lose ?
My last check yesterday was 3 percent

The amazing battery life has a lot to do with the display too. It is a hugely more efficient panel.
Samsung gave the Galaxy S23 series a new energy-efficient AMOLED display
Samsung confirmed that it has fitted the Galaxy S23 line with a new type of AMOLED display that saves on power.

All on. Wifi. Data. Location. Bluetooth. Performance mode.
I'm so happy with this battery performance and am afraid to update OS when it comes out...Given the great track record of Samsung breaking things that don't need fixing, there's a high probability that the battery life will go for a toss
Had my s23 ultra since 7 Feb and consistently get just under 10 hours of SOT (most of my day is indoors on WiFi, with a 2 or 3 hours walk most afternoons in 4g)
I am running pretty.much on default settings for screen and battery - I just use my phone normally and forget about battery optimisation settings
This is the best battery.life EVER on a Samsung!
After 2 weeks with the 23u and my standard use of it i have from 85% to 30% (i never go below 30%) 4h SoT

I think it is ok. I use performance mode, all location, Bluetooth with watch, some 5G, some WiFi etc.
I mostly read on phone, scrolling...

Yes I did debloat, light batter profile and battery saving (it's more than powerfu enough).
Plus I have disabled all the nearby services for smarthings find the phone offline wifi quick share etc.
I don't like having the phone always sending radio signals around for no reason

Also, android system intelligence service, is that even a necessary app? Would cause any issues if I disabled/deleted it?

I wasn't even too much aggressive with debloating, maybe I'll go for a second round
Has anyone tried comparing the performance of S23U when using standard and light performance profile? Noticed any performance drop when using Light mode?
I haven't noticed a different in performance but I also haven't noticed a difference in battery life either. I haven't been able to see much of a benefit but since I don't see any performance drops I just leave lite mode on. Hopefully someone on YouTube does a battery comparison.

I have experienced the same thing. Don't notice any performance differences and didn't really notice any battery life differences either. I keep it on in the event it is making a difference cause I haven't noticed any negatives.

Hello all, has anyone used this profile? If so, is it any good?

Standard vs Light performance profile
I haven't seen anyone do a comparison between the two, but what are your experiences so far with this setting?
forum.xda-developers.com
No difference regarding performance. However somehow I've got less SOT on light mode compared to standard lol
It is kinda strange when ppl claim on reddit that light performance gives them 3h more to sot. I don't see any difference on mine device. And I belive it is placebo what ppl writing. Also same to Ram plus. I try off and on and no single minute adding to sot.
I don't notice performance difference, but my battery seems to last more than before. Which was also goo... With s23 Ultra I no longer have battery Anxiety.

I believe you are right. Because I have one of those device info apps installed and when I have light mode on it says the max GPU is 615 and with standard mode is 719 megahertz. So I think you are correct it just defaults it to the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 setings.

Nah, it pulls back further on the core. You can see that in the benchmarks. It limits the maximum X3 core clock to about 70%.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: Benchmarks reveals performance difference between Standard and Light modes
Samsung's new flagship phones, the Galaxy S23 series, debuted with new performance modes: Standard and Light. That feature appears to have been a masterstroke, with benchmark numbers indicating a slight drop in performance when in Light, accompanied by significant prime core efficiency gains.

I did the test and posted the results in the battery thread. I gained 1 hour. First test with Standard was 10:51 and Second test with Light was 11:54.

That's a significant extra on the battery life. I'll stick with light since mostly what I do doesn't require heavy usage.

I am doing another test now with No Social Media Apps installed on phone. Just my normal phone, text and email apps, work apps and Netflix, Prime, HBO Max, Paramount+ and Disney+ for streaming apps. Bet I gain at least an hour without Facebook and Facebook Messenger installed.
Probably affect heavy performance core, so that with standard daily usage you can't see the difference
Haven't had any performance issues on Light mode. And quite significant improvement on the battery consumption. So I'll stick with Light.
What i wonder is the NPU (Neural Processing Unit) aka A.I.
If light mode lowers clockspeed from CPU and GPU, does it affect NPU?
I mean will it affect post processing during picture shots?
I've tried to spot a difference between these two perfomance profiles after may update and I did notice few things:
Light mode: device is less warm while multitasking, charging and casually browsing. However I did notice that I lose some "frames" using navigation apps such as "waze" and on heavier multitasking(spotify, facebook, reddit and instagram for example). Battery is a little bit better than standard mode but not that noticable at least for me.
The only thing I noticed was the phone got tangibly warmer when using the camera and the subsequent photo processing in standard mode.
You all know S23 phones use overclocked Snapdragon Gen 2, right?
If you want a stock Gen 2, just use light profile.
You won't notice anything.

Wow, now that's a bold claim! Light mode = standard Gen 2 clock speed and Standard mode = overclocked speeds...This needs to be verified.
