So firstly, please accept my apologies for being absolutely nooby - I haven't actually been on a forum for a very long time and things have very much changed since. I have tried to search for a fix for a very long time and haven't actually found anything that worked.
I have a Huawei P20 Lite since June 2019 and it has been working fine-ish. I have never done anything special for it, just a standard user.
So, from my nickname you can tell what problem I have experienced. My phone died and nope, my data never got backed up. Whilst scrolling through facebook, the screen froze for quite a few seconds, so I thought I'd give my little phone a reset. Held the power button for a few seconds, it switched off and started powering back up - nice. It started powering up two days ago now and never actually booted up. And no, I did not drop it in my toilet.
It's not stuck on a bootloop as far as I am aware - it doesn't actually switch off and on, just gets stuck on Huawei logo until battery runs out. If I hold the button to power it off, it just powers back on and gets stuck. Nothing works - no safe/recovery mode, can't factory reset it if I wanted to. The furthest I got is the "fastboot&rescue mode" but Hisuite recovery doesn't support this device (what's the point). Left it to drain the battery too, hoping that a little rest would help. Nope.
I went to a phone repair shop and apparently someone had a similar problem, changing the battery worked for them. Had that done today and nope, nothing changed.
I don't mind the phone being bricked, as I was due an upgrade any time soon. It is the data, however, that I would love to access again. I have tried all of the free programs available, but they either support Samsung only or the device doesn't get detected. I don't think that I have the USB debugging enabled either.
I have never played with rooting, kernels and all of that, but I am willing to learn if there is a way via those to actually access my data. So no, I'm not looking for someone to type up a magical manual on how to do that for me, I'm not that lazy. All I kind of want to find out I guess if there is any point for me to continue my research, which I have spent quite a while on already, and if so, where should I start.

Unless you decrypt the data then extract it somehow.

IMO your emmc memory is dead (btw known issue on Kirin 659 devices) .

That's a shame :/ Is there any way to check and confirm that it is in fact the faulty part (i.e. whether a phone repair place would have the knowledge/devices required to confirm the diagnostics)? That would sort of reassure me at least...
I did find a company that deals with data recovery, obv quite pricey but I guess they do have the technology needed.

the problem is not the emmc itself (it is possible to dump the emmc even if it is dead) , the problem is that internal storage is encrypted by default , using f2fs and FBE (File Based Encryption). . So if you read such storage chip from Huawei, you'll see a valid filesystem, but 99% of the files will be encrypted individually, including also file and directory names (also my own experience ).
If motherboard is dead, worst case scenario is swapping CPU and storage chip onto a working board.
P.S.: I hope I am wrong and you can solve this problem. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Well, thank you for taking your time to read my post and giving such detailed replies.
I'll do my "chuck it in the wardrobe for a few months" method (worked wonders for my laptop which had such a bad system issue it wouldn't boot either, after a few months I turned it on and it worked as it never happened, but the good thing with that one was that if was trying to do a self diagnostics at least). If that doesn't work, I'm gonna call around some phone shops to see if they want to play around with parts. If all fails, I'll probably be okay with the losses at that point - the most valuable things for me I would have sent on at some point somewhere, so I can just go back to those and contact people if I feel like it, I may try one of the data recovery companies, but they seem to be mainly recovering hard drives (had two reviews about phones - with one they managed, with one it failed).
So yeah, thank you so much and if anything resolves the issue, I'll definitely post it here

Maybe there is a vulnerability to get decryption key from the memory on device boot, like the freeze one.
But that means you'll have to boot to the system, but your device is bricked, so it's an incomplete boot, or maybe it won't boot at all.
Don't waste time and money on false hope mate.
If it's possible to recover data like that, that would be the worst security issue I ever saw. As data should be encrypted.

Haha yes I was wondering that - unless you have to prove to them that it is, in fact, your data before they return it to you. As I said above, for one person it worked on the phone, for other it didn't. The good thing is - if they can't recover, I don't pay for it. The only charge I'd have to cover is the shipping to and from. Which isn't too bad.

Please don't try anything mentioned below, if you are not familiar with flashing roms and programming ! You've been warned !
The following steps had been done in 4 sets of Galaxy Tab 10.1 (from different sources), all touchscreens become unresponsive within a minute. The system is still running, volumn keys are working, orientation sensor is operational, even the clock and wifi signal is fine. The only problem is the touchscreen. All 4 devices are not rooted, brand new, fully charged, and now returned to Samsung for inspection.
WARNING !!! The following steps may cause you trouble ! I share these steps only because I think some experts here may be able to solve it ! I'm also looking for some proof, if the same problem occurs to Samsung Tab 10.1 devices in different countries.
The steps to trigger an unresponsive touchscreen :
(1). Download and install any file manager from the Market (skip if you already have).
(2). Browse to "/sys/devices/virtual/sec/sec_touch/".
(3). Select all files (excluding folders).
(4). Copy and paste to any other location that have write permission (such as sdcard). Some of the files are not allowed to be copied, so just skip it.
And then, in a short while, the touchscreen will not respond anymore.
The files mentioned in step 2, are some driver files of Atmel mxt1386 (the touchscreen hardware). It seems that users of Acer Iconia also have touchscreen issue, turned out to be using the same hardware.
I know that there are also many users that do not have any touchscreen problem. This may only because those files are not accidentally accessed yet. I'd rather hope that you have a different version of the hardware driver that does not have such problem.
I'd like to ask for help from experts and developers here. But please don't try it if you are not absolutely confident to at least restore the system. Please don't blame me if your Tab becomes un-usable.
For those who are willing to try (at your own risk), I'm much appreciated. And I'd like to say thank you to all of you. Your effort may be helping a lots of users who have this problem.

To me its like saying "I removed my battery and now my device won't turn on"

Topic starter made too complicated example. The simple description is: if you try to read files from /sys/devices/virtual/sec/sec_touch/ directory - you'll got broken touchscreen. Looks like this operation damages touchscreen firmware, though this won't happen with properly configured/written (by manufacturer) system.
So who wants to read from those files? Any software for any reason. E.g. a lot of users have bricked their devices by doing a full system scan with Dr.Web for Android antivirus.
Sorry for the complicated example. I just tried to provide as much information as I could.
Feedback from Samsung is that it need hardware replacement (which is weird due to a software issue). But when they have a lots to sell, they simply says that they don't have parts for replacement at this moment. And they confirmed that flashing rom does not recover the device.

When the touchscreen goes unresponsive, do other parts of the device still function? For example, when you hold down the power button, will the shutdown menu appear? When you rotate the device will the orientation change?
I have had an unresponsive touchscreen many many times. I'm not sure it is the same unresponsive touchscreen you talk about here. When mine goes unresponsive I can still use the power button and if I rotate the screen a few times it eventually becomes responsive again.
Yes. The power and volume up/down buttons work, orientation sensor also works as a normal device. I tried to rotate the screen, discharge and recharge the battery, but it aside for hours and tried again, nothing helps.
And it is actually confirmed by Samsung that hardware replacement is needed. They said that they tried to recover the device by flashing rom, but failed.
so I have the same problem. Quite frustrating. Not only that, I've noticed that there is a vertical 1-2 inch area from top to bottom of the screen that doesn't ever respond to touch.

Hi Idsam, I'm from Russia and have a same problem. After full scan by Dr. Web the touchscreen not responding and now I don't know what to do, beacause I've bought my Samsung in USA in Bestbuy, but now I'm at home in Russia, no warranty, no service, nothing. May be somebody can give me advise?
To be honest, it seems that Samsung doesn't have a solution yet. And probably worse, Samsung did not modify the driver at all, which means Atmel is responsible to fix the problem. No matter what, you can wait, but who knows how long it takes.
I think Best Buy has refund policy. You should discuss with them asap, as this kind of policy is normally time limited. You may consider to pay for delivery, in order to minimize your lost. If they refuse to refund for you, then you may need to contact Samsung Russia. I'm sure they know about this issue, and perhaps you may discuss with them. Still, you may need to consider to pay a little more as repair service charge.
BUT, I'm not saying you should pay more for what they've done wrong. It is only a suggestion, in order to speed up the process and at least minimize your lost.
The last option, I think, is to wait until Samsung announce a solution. If the method to fix it doesn't require hardware exchange, perhaps you may get information from Samsung and try to solve it by yourself.
As I know, when the touchscreen issue occurred, the Android system is actually still running WITHOUT problem. It means that you may still control the device by using ADB via USB. So, if Samsung can provide a patch, it may be easily fixed. I'm not sure if it is possible or not, just hope it will be as simple as that.

Honestly, only Samsung can answer your question. But my steps can help you to show proof to them that it is a design flaw, and force them to admit that it is their responsibility to provide solution.
This is, unfortunately, the known issue with all mxt1386, mxt224 and qt64-blah-something touchscreens. I have wasted a week debugging my iconia and have experienced tons of butthurt. To put it simple, when an error occurs in the touchscreen controller, it does not report proper ID, but an error code instead. Some versions of drivers (like Asus one) just return -ENODEV in that case. Acer's driver was intended to handle it, but was written poorly and died in a deadlock in such an event. My solution was to comment out semaphores and other synchronization techniques and that got past the device detection and cleared error bits.

I have the same problem with my Galaxy Tab P1010. I can get into download and recovery mode i can move the selection using the volume button but i can't press the power to enter my selected option. I have already tried re-installing the latest available firmware for my device using ODIN 1.7. Eventually everything seems to be ok until i reach the point where you select the language. I can't select any option mainly because the touchscreen is unresponsive. All along i thought this problem is only software? Hopefully somebody can find the solution to this.

It seems that the second link is invalid. Besides, it is necessary to root the device and flash CWM recovery first, right ?
I mean, it may be a bit risky. I read your post before, but not sure if it is the same issue. If it is not, and the device is rooted, the official warranty may be voided too.
I have updated the links but the recovery image is only valid for the Iconia tablet. I mean, one could try using the attached driver sources and add them to the kernel but that will require at least flashing custom kernel. Samsung seems to be releasing a firmware update to fix this issues but people familiar with linux kernel development may try experimenting with the driver from acer.

Firstly, I did not find a board dedicated to the S5660. So I posted it here.
Today, I tried to backup my current installation of Android to my SD. I used
a guide on androidpolice(dot)com, while searching for "complete android backup" in Google.
My phone had to be rooted, which it was, so I went on to download and install Clockworkmod's ROM Manager. I opened it up, fixed the permissions and made a backup. Before I could make one, I had to pick a phone model. However, these were all very strange types or brands I never even heard of.
I randomly picked one, and my phone NOT being listed should have served as a warning but alas, and the app started backing up. After it was done, it all seemed normal so I pressed "home" to go back to my main screen and pressed the "lock/power" button so my screen would turn off. I put the phone in my pocket.
Exactly 2 minutes later, I pull out my phone and I notice the screen is black, I push the lock/power button: nothing happens. I hold the lock/power button in the expectation that the phone will boot up since it might have been shut down accidentally. Nothing happens.
I remove battery, re-insert battery. I repeat this over a dozen or so times to no avail. I try the download or safe boot key-combinations (volume down + home + power) and nothing helps.
It's as if either all the keys are broken, something went seriously wrong in the interior hardware or hopefully, (the most simple possibility) my battery gave the ghost.
I went to the shop where I bought the Galaxy Gio and told them about the issues I had, they said they were going to send it to a Samsung Service Center for repairs. After I went home and had browsed the Internet for some possible solutions, I returned to the shop to try out several of the tricks that were listed (inserting battery on the exact same time when you press the buttons), nothing worked.
Does this smell to bricking or just a dead battery?
Before any conclusions are made (it sounds like its bricked though)...dead battery?... Did you try charging it?

It happened while I was at school, I immediately went to the shop and the guy helping me said he had plugged it in for a short while. I guess I believe him since I did not see it but he said the phone did nothing.
But how come a software malfunction can mess up the physical buttons like the power/volume or lock buttons?

If the software of a device is corrupted, then the hardware won't work properly (if at all). Example: you flash a rom for a device with one button and your device has five, then of course the software wouldn't recognize the other buttons (this is just an example of the hardware part cause if you actually did that, your device wouldn't even start). Also, you said that you just randomly chose one made for another device, for future reference: NEVER flash a kernel, rom, etc. not made for your device or atleast not stated to work on your device.

Yes, I figured this when I tried to do the actual backup but it seems I was too stupid to stop the entire process.
I have already given it to the store as they will send the phone to a Samsung Service Center. Do you know how the processes of repairing for such phones work?
Also, if the phone is a total brick, it cannot be recovered whatsoever?

The best thing to do is hope they can't repair it . If they happen to get it to work and find out you rooted it, they will just return it to you the way it is now. I hope you didn't tell the guy how this happened...
P.S. - No, I don't know the process they use to recover something like this. I'm no expert in recovering hard bricks (know a few stuff, but not in this case).

The guy asked me whether I had ever let the phone come into contact with water or fluids or if I ever let it fall down to the floor, neither of which have happened in the past. I also told him an update through Kies went awry and caused the system to be unstable till the crash of today.
The dude seemed pretty confident in that the warranty would cover. I don't know. I feel like a giant moron, to be honest.

Another future reference (although you dodged the bullet here): never tell your manufacturer (or whoever is supposed to look after the warranty of your device,etc.) that you rooted (or even tried to root) your device. Well, you just have to hope for the best now .

I just sat through a Live Chat session with Samsung. Even though Google does not oppose rooting, Samsung effectively makes a deal out of it. I told him the same story, that an update through Kies made several things pop up on my phone which I did not understand etc. etc.
I am hoping for the best. But I am befriended with someone working in the store that sold the phone to me. He said most techs won't bother with low-budget smartphones (as in trying to grab you by the balls) and will much rather flash the phone with Samsung stock ROM.

I have a LG Enlighten phone - I am a tech, although I am new to the whole smartphone thing (ya, I know, where have I been lol). Anyway, as you probably know it has limited internal storage. So I have a Sandisk 32gb micro sd card installed where I move things over to it to keep space open on the internal. The phone is rooted.
Ok, things were going well - and I am not sure what happened precisely, but obviously I must have moved something over to the sd card I shouldn't have. The phone went wonky on me after a reboot. I got stuck in a boot loop I could not recover from. So I did a factory reset (power button, home, and volume up). That went just fine. I activated just fine to. You can press the force close button a million times (I probably have) and nothing happens. I have tried EVERYTHING to try to clear this and I can't get passed it. I've spent two days online reading forums, web pages, watching youtube videos - nothing has helped. Problem is, since I did a factory reset its back to defaults (I am assuming) meaning USB debugging and mounting is turned off because it is turned off as default. I can't get passed that infernal screen to turn it back on.
I don't have any data on here that I care about I just want my phone back. I don't mind flashing the rom but for the life of me I can't get at it!
When I go into restore mode, at least with the enlighten it doesn't give you options - it just shows the picture of the android for a few seconds then reboots. No idea what it's doing there.
I tried re-formating the micro sd card thinking maybe it was picking something up from there, that didn't seem to do anything.
I have Android Studio installed, I was hoping to do something through it - but again the phone isn't mounting when plugged into my laptop (windows 7) - it was before - no doubt because that feature is turned off because of the factory reset.
If you have ideas, please speak in small words with lots of steps. Thanks.

I mentioned that I did a factory reset - but I didn't mention I did it several times (more than that even). Again, the enlighten doesn't really give you a lot of options when you do one. It shows a picture of the android and a file folder for a few seconds - maybe 10... then it boots. there's no option, no text, no choices, nothing. A bit confusing to be honest. Then it boots up, you get the language choice and activation call (which goes through fine) and then wham! back to hell and that freakin' error message.
BTW I posted here because there is no specific forum for the enlighten phone - I didn't want to post in a forum for another phone and get yelled at. Suggestions on a forum? and thanks for taking the time to reply! :0

I just thought I would post how I just resolved this. I got passed it by getting a PHONE CALL! I flipped the screen up to answer, yanked away. After the call was done I didn't do anything, the other party hung up. Then there was a REALLY long pause on the phone - the screen went black. I waited a couple of minutes, pushing the buttons did nothing. Then finally - the home screen came up. NO MORE BEING PROMPTED FOR A FORCE CLOSE! Yea! And it appear everything is working. Now before it decides to break again I want to flash the rom (I am running the bloated stock rom). Thanks for checking this out. and if you're looking at this cause you're having the same problem, I really hope what worked for me works for you too!

This was a learning experience, it was the first time ever I have had a phone with an external micro sd card which holds more data than the actual phone. Also, my first Android. So I am thrilled to have my phone back - I had been messing with it late last night when this happened and didn't sleep at all because, well, I thought I just bricked my phone!
Lessons learned:
You can move just about any app you want to the sd card, no problem - but what you don't want to move are the operating system files/apps. Nor do you want to convert them to "user apps" and move them. Or at least I don't. Since I don't quite understand how it works, and what that does. I had THOUGHT it would just mean everything would run from my sd card - maybe a smidge slower - but it would run. Well, I was wrong. lol. So I am passing that tidbit along.
Also, in the future, if anything like this happens - don't be so quick to do a factory reset, cause you now take away the ability to connect via usb... It is a last resort, not a panicked, go to move. At least not for me.
And, there is something called Rom Managers - install one on your freakin' phone. I didn't know about them. So I didn't have one. I could have resolved this whole thing sooner if I had (maybe).
Lastly, before you do too much - have someone call you or call yourself from another phone to see what happens. It fixed my problem. Of course I won't be rebooting before I flash my rom (wow, that sounds dirty lol) cause I fear the same thing happening...
That's all I wanted to share - cause that's what I learned. Sorry if this is super obvious to people - it sure wasn't to me.

there you go OP! what i do is i have an old LG phone that i like to mess with or put apps to try them out from here. and it its good, i put it on my regualr phone.

Absolutely! I love to learn especially stuff I don't know much about - but... I wish it didn't happen in such a panic lol. Oh well, lessons learned... I wouldn't have been in a panic if it weren't my only phone, but it is. :0
I also wish it were easier to learn - it seems (at least to me) that every phone has enough unique characteristics that you really have to be specific about model and o/s. It makes searching for answers that much more difficult. What works for one person won't work for all or even most. You have to do a lot of trial and error. I suppose if I were a programmer perhaps it would be more clear to me on how these things tick. I am tho, just a tech - I fix and build stuff. Although I do have some programming ability, I would never even dream to call my pathetic scribblings code. lol Scripts yes, but really, really simple ones and thing more complex is just greek to me.
Is there any good place to see what kind of custom roms work best with the enlighten? I am thinking of putting one on there... I hate the bloatware stock rom.

i learned that lesson too when putting a rom on my phone, not everything works for everyone.
the best place i can think of is on here lol. i just assume the rom with the most replys and views is the most popular. you can try googleing because i know there are other mobile development forums out there that work on other roms. but i know this is the most popular forum.

I have Samsung Galaxy S3, I was using messenger then it hanged up and then I restarted my mobile by pressing and holding the power switch. Then Galaxy S3 logo appeared after restart and again hanged up. Then I again restarted the phone, again at the same point it hanged up i.e. at the logo of Galaxy S3. Then I pulled out battery and reinsert it but after this it never started again not even blinked once. I have also checked on another battery.
I went to the mobile repairing shop then he said CMC chip is dead so its circuit will be replaced. Then I went another shop, he said I will flash the device but I don't guarantee about the data (stored in phone storage). I said him that it is not turning on then how will you flash it. He said I will do it yet.
Now, tell me experts that what should I do to get my phone data back? What should I do that it just turned on for some minutes so that I could take my data to SD card. My data is much important. Also tell me how did the shopkeeper say that he will flash the phone even it is not turning on anyhow.

If it's super important, you would've backed it up, right? Everyone I know backups their important data at least 2 times
The other shopkeeper could use a jtag to force the device into download mode (helped me to unbrick a hard bricked s4).

That's what I'd assume they'd do (that's what I'd do if I was them).
As for the first one, they might be correct, or not. My strongest recommendation is to try the jtag method and if that doesn't work, I will be really surprised if they actually replace the CMC. Usually what they do is just replace the motherboard which you can do at home (there are plenty of motherboards on ebay) however, it's cheaper but your data chips would need to be transfered over to the new motherboard, which is just better to go with the CMC replacement (if they don't replace your mobo, your data is fine, if they do, it's gone with the mobo).
As for the second option regarding your data, unfortunately it's correct. However, it they get into download mode, they can flash a recovery (different partition, meaning your /data partition is safe) like twrp which they can use to make a nandroid backup and then after extracting the backup, flash new rom. Then you can restore the different apps/settings from the twrp backup file (there are plenty of tutorials on the net).

And I hope, I would able to transfer chips on the new mobo, just locate the chip for me which is to be transferred. What jtag is etc can be checked out in the link below. What cables you need depend on specifically your device (it might be s3, but there are different variants of the s3).
And yes, normally that would mean that it would be forced into download mode

Regarding the jtag, you can check out this great forum question and answer Keep in mind that jtag doesn't always need a controller, in my case (s4 not s3), I had to create a micro usb connector with a resistor on one of the ends and plug it into the device for it to work again

I don't really know what CMC is, maybe the guy meant SMC? SMC is a common abbreviation used in circuit board repair and stands for System Management Controller so in one word or another, a chip (correct me if I am wrong, I am not super educated in the circuit board area).
I do recommend you use the jtag method since if it doesn't work, at least you can rest a sure you've tried multiple ways to revive it and not sit and wonder after the board repair is complete if there was a more efficient way to solve the issue.

Are you sure you can do it at home? It isn't normal solder, it's more of a ballpoint solder requiring to heat up the board to let the solder flow and then extract the nand chips. I cannot give you link since I don't know specifically what phone you have (you stated s3, but there are plenty of s3 variants such as the s3 lte etc all with different internals).
What I meant by that line is that since the data chips are on the motherboard, replacing the motherboard means losing your data. If they don't replace your motherboard (mobo), your data is intact/fine .

Yep, with twrp you can create a backup and extract from that backup apps and whatnot. So technically, your data is safe (you will wipe the phone, but you'll have a backup ). If it's photos that are the issue, you can hope that your sync was on and that you had Google Photos set up (automatically backs up your gallery).

Aight so I have this Samsung Galaxy J7 Max that I've been trying to unlock for more than 2 years now. I of course, don't want to lose the super important data it holds. It got locked out randomly and hasn't been able to take up the pattern I had put on it till date. I'm absolutely sure no one changed its lock screen pattern and its the phone that is unable to recognize the exact same password it had before this happening. I got hold of it today and yet again, started looking for solutions on YouTube and the internet itself. After all of my research, one thing is clear. There is only one way that the pattern lock can be removed in such a condition; by deleting this system folder called gesture.key that lies within the phone itself. I am by no means a nerdy software dev or something but I do have very little knowledge about these workarounds. I used an ADB via a cmd terminal to contact my phone. But it turns out that due to my usb debugging setting not being turned on in my phone, the adb didn't have the required authorization to make any changes to the target. I then got my phone into stock recovery mode and chose the Install through ADB option there. Now when I input the command adb devices, the prompt showed me my device ID, but instead of the "unauthorized" indicator beside it, it now had the indicator "sideload". I had no idea of what had to be done when such happens, so I tried the adb shell > cd data/system > su > rm *.key [taken from an XDA forums thread] commands again. But right on the second step it displayed error this time. I have tried using a key eraser via sd card too, but it just doesn't happen, the sd card folder in the stock mode does not display the contents of the folder.
Now the phone isn't being an obstacle in my life right now, but I really hope there's a way to fix it. Early help would be appreciated. Thank You.
If the data is super important why isn't it redundantly backed up?
Having a set lock screen and storing data on the OS is a sure fire way to lose data, eventually.
Maybe you'll get lucky... is that drive encrypted?
If not it may still be corrupted and unusable.

@blackhawk As I said, this was an absolutely random incident, had never even thought this could've been the case someday. Its not like the phone crashed and then this happened, I turned off my phone's display and the next time I woke it up, the pattern wasn't working anymore. Furthermore, the timed attempts that happen after 5 incorrect tries wasn't existing anymore. Now it could be that someone did get the timed attempts wrong as well [it isn't my own phone]. But I really don't see any other reason to that occurrence.
About the backups, I mean cmon, I was 15 back then, a medico student even more so. I never got my hands around backing up anything. But yes, have been backing up every single bit of data within these two years.
The storage drive shouldn't be encrypted. It was a regular phone bought online that had pdfs, images, recordings and videos stored. The google account was not that of the owner either! It was my uncle's account that was being used ever since he bought it. And since there was never a problem having used his account for quite a while, we never cared to change it to a new google account. Now my uncle's google account itself handles another device, his own phone, exact same model, Galaxy J7 Max. I have tried using his account at the Google Find My Device app to locate and unlock the phone that way [I hope you know it has the three options Ring, Secure and Erase Data]. But it happens so that the Secure phone with password option only for devices that have been lost and don't have a security lock already setup, which wasn't, unfortunately, my case. So that option was greyed out.
For the data corruption, you might be correct. But that phone still does receive SMS texts, calls, whatsapp texts and other notifications. They just don't show up on the lock screen anymore. I honestly had the "Screw the data, I'll erase it anyway" thought yesterday, but during my latest tries, I found the XDA forums website to be quite helpful. Had not it been the damn USB debugging, the solution I approached from this forum would've got the job done in a couple minutes. Again, if the data might've gone corrupted, I will erase the data [I mean I would have to]. But this little glimmer of hope that I experienced yesterday is what is preventing me from doing that. I really hope there is a fix to my situation.

Sideload mode is used to flash OTAs and/or ROMs.
Recovery mode allows you to perform some ADB actions as e.g. pull userdata, but this reqires ADB ( read: USB debug ) got enabled.
So my guess is you can't recover phone's userdata at your own, this would have to be done by an external service who can pull out phone's internal SD-card and has the forensic tools to read it.
@jwoegerbauer Surprisingly the idea of taking the phone to a forensic service struck me yesternight too. As you mentioned, since I can't recover the phone's data myself, all tips and tweaks on the web should now be struck off of my list of solutions. I'll leave the data to some forensic services then. Let's hope the recovery is worth the hassle. The thread is still open to more suggestions though. Thanks for the replies everyone. Really appreciate it!

It not a card they can pull. More than likely it's on a BGA chipset, the hardest kind there is to work with.
If they can't access the data on/with the mobo they will have to unsolder the chipset without damaging it then put it into a test jig or another mobo (after pulling that mobo's matching chipset).
If they can access the data on the mobo, not so bad. Otherwise not so good.

Actually thought of this idea right after a couple days from the beginning of the problem. Yes its gonna take loads of precision and patience but it does sound doable. Maybe that's what is gonna be the last option for the forensic service too in case, god forbid, they aren't able to do it the "simple" way. Can't say yet, but I'm gonna keep this thread updated with all the developments that take place.

If they need to remove the chipset the chances of failure increase. Flash memory retension is generally good for 10+ years but it may be damaged in the removal process if so, snake eyes.
Get price quotes up front for the whole process.
Once they got the phone, they got you by the balls. Not saying they aren't trustworthy but feel them out. If it's a couple hundred and you get the data back, you did good.
No idea of the cost though, my guess is $400-1000+ especially if they need to pull the chipset.
That's high risk even if they do it by the book.
If their policy is no data, no charge... expect higher rates to cover their loses.
@blackhawk All of that sounds kinda terrifying if you ask me. Well I mean, there is always a first option that can be tried without any mentions of pull-aparts. Yet I will surely judge the person well before I hand my device in his hands. I would try my level best to not take it to the critical stage, but if it needs be and there is a really high chance of losing my data, I can factory reset my data at home by myself too can't I? Future shall tell I suppose.
If you factory reset it all data will be lost.
It will not be recoverable!
If you want the data you will need to use a service like I showed you. They will need physical access to the phone to recovery the data.
The phone may be scrape afterwards
@blackhawk Sure does look like it would be! But paying to get your phone reset for you is way to harsher than doing it yourself. It is only in case the data is nearly impossible to recover that I'll reset the phone myself.

I actually do though. But well, if it ain't coming back then why wish for it. Yeah the data was really important.

Call them up and see what they say.
Since it's not physically damaged they may be able to access it none invasively.
