Yes Kenzo is and will still on Android 6 even in MIUI10.
No news from Xiaomi for Android update in Kenzo. MIUI10 Beta rom is out for special team member for checking and testing before release to general public in around mid August.

Why xiaomi didn't update the Redmi Note 9s to MIUI 12 yet?
For instance, my old Redmi Note 7 already updated.
And why there aren't any really stable custom ROM for it yet? I remeber when i got both my Redmi Note 4x and my Redmi Note 7, their XDA forum already had plenty of options of Official Custom ROMs to choose and i am not seeing it with this phone.
I've also noticed that at least 2 ROMs had their support cancelled last month. Should we worry about those facts?

Redmi Note 9S testing has not started and MIUI 12 will come in september for this device maybe.
Talking about custom ROMs the development for this device has just started and all custom ROMs will be available soon.
There is Unified AOSP builds are there for Curtana called "miatoll" builds. Try it.

Since then, I haven't updated my MiPad 4. Just wondering what's the most stable ROM on the market currently? Xiaomi.EU or AOSP like CRDroid or something else? I mainly care about having the basic features that aren't broken, working camera and good battery life.

MIUI 12.5 has brought android 11. Apparently miui 13 will bring a brand new UI and android 12, it's releasing at some point at the end of 2022 globally. The Redmi Note 10 is in the supported update list for miui 13. Till then, if you want android 12, you could try custom ROMs, but install them at your own risk. Custom ROMs also void your warranty.
